Marvel fans may need to head to the theater sooner than expected. New reports suggest Avengers: Doomsday could be dropping FOUR different trailers, each focusing on a different character — and none of them releasing online. We break down the reported trailer descriptions, what makes this strategy so unusual for Marvel Studios, and whether this signals something bigger for the MCU heading into Doomsday. Also on today's show, we discuss major headlines across entertainment and pop culture. WWE legend John Cena has officially retired from wrestling following a submission loss, potentially closing the book on one of the most iconic careers in sports entertainment history. We reflect on Cena's legacy and what this means for WWE moving forward. The film world also mourns the loss of filmmaker Rob Reiner, who has passed away at age 78, leaving behind an incredible legacy of classic films. Plus, Zootopia 2 continues its box office dominance, becoming the highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far. We also dive into Andy Muschietti's renewed interest in creating an "IT" supercut, combining both films into one definitive experience, and discuss new comments suggesting Star Wars may need a creative shake-up to move the franchise forward. All that and more on today's episode of The Kristian Harloff Show. SPONSORS: AURA FRAMES: Exclusive $35 off Carver Mat at https://on.auraframes.com/KRISTIAN. From Čapek's enslaved robots to Asimov's hopeful laws, from Wells's remote-controlled war machines to Orwell's watchful screens, the blueprints were drawn in stories. Professor Mark Brake reveals how these fictions didn't just predict the future—they scripted it. Are we masters of our creations, or have the machines we dreamed up already begun reshaping humanity itself? The déjà vu is real. The reckoning is now. GUEST: Professor Mark Brake is a leading science communicator and author exploring the hidden feedback loop between imagination and innovation. He is the author of FutureWorld: Where Science Fiction Becomes Science and numerous bestselling books examining the real science behind Star Wars, superheroes, time travel, and the multiverse. Known for translating complex ideas into gripping narratives, Brake argues that science fiction doesn't merely entertain — it quietly shapes the laboratories, technologies, and futures we eventually inhabit. Welcome to Databank Brawl Rewind! Databank Brawl was a series that ran on ForceCenter from 2016 to 2020, and it remains one of our more beloved shows. Though Databank Brawl is on hiatus, we wanted to celebrate it along with longtime listeners of the podcast and reintroduce it to the ForceCenter listeners who began listening to the podcast after the end of the show's run. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed, it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week by week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not. Find them on Instagram, Facebook, and their website! This week, Jill brings back one of the most downloaded episodes in the history of the show, episode 15 titled "Bad Mutha" from 2020, long before she really had any idea what this podcast would become. She shares how she didn't reread or rework it and how that is honestly part of the point. She was overwhelmed, anxious, and convinced that she was screwing everything up as a mom, but now, five years later, after a whole lot of therapy, journaling, and soul-searching, she has realized that the guilt that she felt then is the same guilt so many of us are still carrying now. In this replay episode, you will hear Jill wrestle with the old stories that she used to tell herself such as the story that she was a bad mom, that every mistake was permanent, that other mothers were doing it "right" while she was just keeping her head above water. You'll also hear the moments that still tug at her heart such as the night that she chose a spotless kitchen over watching a Star Wars movie with her daughter, memories that she has replayed endlessly as if punishing herself could rewrite them. However, this episode is about naming what's actually underneath mom guilt: perfectionism, comparison, and the old wounds which we drag into adulthood without even realizing it. It's about understanding why we cling to the belief that we're failing, even when the evidence says otherwise, and it is, of course, about the uncomfortable truth that guilt doesn't make us better mothers; it only teaches our kids to carry the same shame that we're trying to outrun. Jill encourages listeners to remember that every parent has their private struggles, no matter how shiny their family looks from the outside. Every child grows through their own challenges, and every mother, whether she believes it or not, is doing the absolute best she can with the tools that she has, so if mom guilt has been background noise for you or if you're ready to let go of the impossible standards that have followed you for years, this revisited episode will meet you exactly where you are! Also, don't forget - Jill will be hosting an upcoming retreat - the More of Me retreat - offering a deep dive into self-discovery. Head to jillherman.com for more details! Show Notes: [1:31] - This episode is a replay of episode 15 of the podcast, titled "Bad Mutha." [5:04] - This episode is all about mom guilt. [7:11] - Jill admits that she long believed that guilt made her a bad mother. [10:54] - Jill realized that her "bad mom" narrative was not offering her truth. [13:32] - Jill shares a story of how a missed movie with her daughter still reminds her of how her anxiety misguides choices. [15:58] - Unspoken stress led Jill's daughter to feel disappointed and hurt. [17:20] - Jill recognizes that her haunting memories are exaggerated guilt that she can't rewrite. [20:07] - Perfection is impossible, and self punishing stories aren't reality. [22:11] - Hear how Jill realized that unresolved personal issues amplified comparison and perfectionism, intensifying guilt unnecessarily. [24:29] - Jill rewrote her story, collecting evidence of love to take on guilt and perfectionism. [26:59] - Comparing ourselves to other parents steals our peace because everyone struggles behind closed doors. [28:46] - Jill discusses how perfectionism exploits unresolved wounds, making parents feel inadequate despite their efforts. [30:37] - Healing needs to involve inward reflection, honest conversations, apologies, and self-forgiveness to move forward. [33:09] - Jill argues that real mothering comes from self-healing, not guilt, so that children experience joy and wholeness. [35:13] - Hear how observing a highly present mother reignited Jill's anxieties, despite her own progress in parenting. [37:10] - Jill chose self forgiveness after realizing that her parenting evidence showed love rather than failure. [39:07] - Jill reminds parents that their guilt reflects perfectionism, not the reality of their kids' futures. [42:11] - Jill found freedom by accepting her children's independence and releasing expectations driven by perfectionism. [45:52] - Kids' choices reflect their own paths, not parental failure or shame. [49:34] - Jill encourages moms listening to journal guilt and affirm their worth on a daily basis. [53:04] - Jill also encourages sharing these reflections with friends! The Diary of a CEO's Director of Trailers, Anthony Smith, on capturing attention in the first few seconds, building cliffhangers and emotional momentum that keep audiences watching (or reading), and testing hooks and packaging without losing trust or story. You'll learn:Why you only have 3–5 seconds to earn attention, and what that changes about your opening lines and first scenes. How to take the guesswork out of hooks by testing titles and thumbnails to see what audiences actually care about.Ways to pull a more compelling later moment forward and work in reverse when the early material is setup. What makes a cliffhanger work across books and videos, and how to raise the stakes so people feel “gutted” not knowing the answer. How to build an “emotional rollercoaster” so the narrative never flatlines. Why sound and silence can help storytelling work, creating intensity and then giving the audience space to breathe. How to balance intrigue with respect for your audience by offering a “moment of value” instead of holding everything back. Why giving away too much can kill curiosity, and how to protect the reason someone keeps reading or watching.Resources and Links:

In today's Daily Fix:Casey Hudson, director of the just-announced Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, is assuring fans that the game will be out before 2030. This comes after some on social media are guessing the game won't be about until then, which isn't too wild of a guess considering Hudson's new studio was just formed this past summer, and the long development times of Triple-A games these days. There's also the KOTOR remake, which was announced in 2021 and has seemingly been stuck in development hell since then. In other news, Larian Studios just dropped a new update for console versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2. The game is now optimized for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, as well as Nintendo Switch 2. The next game in the series, titled Divinity, was just announced at least week's Game Awards. And speaking of, Phantom Blade Zero made a splash at The Game Awards with a new trailer, but if you're an Xbox or Nintendo fan, don't expect the game to launch side-by-side with the PS5 version. Phantom Blade Zero is a PS5 exclusive for at least one year.

I won't speak too much on the structure of The Game Awards. It's the usual thing year in and year out. We've been here before and we'll be back here again next year. Same show. Same complaints. What I will talk about is why we're announcing games that, at the earliest, we'll never see until 2030. I know we've had announcements of games far in advance before but this one feels significant, I guess. We've also had games announced that never got released so this isn't all that new but it just seems a waste to put it out there while we'll likely never hear about it again for another 2 years or maybe 3. Elder Scrolls 6 was teased back in 2018, I think, and we've heard nothing about it since. Perhaps it really depends on the game. Like Elder Scrolls there is a massive fan base who are familiar with waiting and waiting on the next installment though this has been a rather longer wait than ever before. And so we're here with a Star Wars title that won't release before 203 – again a massively large fan base who are also familiar with waiting on the next installment. Of course, they'll need to tread lightly. We've waited on games and other media before for very long times only to have them arrive with massive disappointment. Eventually the waiting builds up enough hype to where it peaks before the thing even releases and by then everyone's expectations are either so high the game never lives up to it or so low it doesn't sell because people have already peaked their hype and moved on. Gamers have short memories, however. But I haven't forgotten about Ubisoft. It has been 4,500 days since a new Splinter Cell game (non-animated series or guest spot in another game franchise, remake, BBC radio drama, or VR exclusive) was released. Also, there's been 5,300 job losses in the gaming industry since January 1, 2025.
FOX on Games breaks down the biggest moments from The Game Awards 2025. We cover the historic and surprise Game of the Year win for the turn-based RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The show was dominated by major announcements: Star Wars revealed two games, the narrative RPG Fate of the Old Republic (a spiritual successor to KOTOR) and the racing game Galactic Racer (a follow-up to Podracing). Tomb Raider also announced two titles: Legacy of Atlantis (a modern reimagining of the 1996 original) and the brand new adventure Catalyst (2027). Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome to the 100th episode of For The Republic: A Love Letter to Star Wars Animation! Join Andrew (@StarlightAndrew), Donovan (@DonovanMeade) & Conor (@DepaBanana) as we celebrate our biggest milestone yet the same way we began - talking about The Clone Wars! We discuss the Zillo Beast arc of Season 2. Heavily inspired by Godzilla and kaiju stories, how does Star Wars put their own spin on the monster genre? With us getting to this arc after the Beast's return in The Bad Batch, how do those episodes improve this arc in hindsight? We also discuss the (at the time of recording, sorry) social media mania regarding the cancelled The Hunt for Ben Solo movie, and when we could see Adam Driver return as Ben Solo in the future.Thank you for journeying through Star Wars with us for 100 episodes!Episodes Discussed: "The Zillo Beast (S2E18). Emotie is de kern van elk goed verhaal.'Timestamps:00:00:00 Nerd Culture #23700:01:13 Wat hebben we gekeken?00:01:20 IT: Welcome to Derry00:04:12 Mr. Mercedes00:07:05 Troll 200:12:34 Special Forces00:19:42 Blockbuster Helden00:25:12 Supergirl Trailer00:27:40 The Rock & Brendan Fraser00:31:25 Paramount vs Warner Bros00:36:00 Disney x OpenAI (Sora)00:40:12 Hijack Season 2 Trailer00:43:45 Sakamoto Days (Live-Action)00:45:48 Street Fighter Trailer00:46:08 28 Years Later00:49:31 Thor in Avengers: Doomsday?00:51:48 Sebastian Stan over Doomsday00:56:43 Doom vs Captain America01:04:00 Sigourney Weaver & Alien01:07:00 The Boys – Final Season

In this episode of Strange Planet, we venture into the strange frontier where science fiction stops predicting the future and starts engineering it. Joining me is Professor Mark Brake, who reveals how visionary writers like H.G. Wells mapped the architecture of time long before physicists dared to explore it. From quantum theories and alternate timelines to cryonics and suspended animation, we examine whether humanity has already begun slipping through time without admitting it. Is time a rigid law… or the next barrier waiting to break? GUEST: Professor Mark Brake is a leading science communicator and author exploring the hidden feedback loop between imagination and innovation. He is the author of FutureWorld: Where Science Fiction Becomes Science and numerous bestselling books examining the real science behind Star Wars, superheroes, time travel, and the multiverse.
