In the last few weeks, many established software vendors have launched AI-augmented products, helping us move past the hype and get a much more hands-on view of what AI means for Talent Acquisition. There are still a massive amount of unknowns, but it is evident that AI is a chief catalyst in what is now an unstoppable transformation of TA and the broader talent function. AI and automation fundamentally alter the speed and scale at which TA can operate, constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. So, what does this mean for TA leaders and practitioners right now? How prepared are organizations for this level of transformation, and how can TA raise its game to drive more value for the organization? This week, my guests are Dr. Swathi Palasamudram, Enterprise Business Architect at Bosch, and Nazim Ünlü, Global People and Organization Lead at Novartis, in two interviews recorded at the Smartrecruiters Hiring Success event in Amsterdam in September. Swathi and Nazim shared insights that reveal why the transformation of talent acquisition is truly unstoppable—and how TA leaders can harness this momentum to not only keep pace but lead the way. In the interviews, we discuss: Fear, Adaptability, and the critical importance of strategic thinking Current AI use cases. How AI can raise the value of TA to the business Regional variations in AI adoption Retaining the vital human element of TA and HR Data literacy Building a personalized candidate experience The difference between Automation (efficiency through technology) and AI (insights and decision-making) Advice for TA Leaders Follow this podcast on Apple Podcasts.

Clearing the FOG speaks with Helyeh Doutaghi, a co-chair of the Tribunal, a doctoral student at Carleton University in Ottawa, and an anti-imperialist activist, about why this is an opportune time to build a global movement focused on the United States, how the Tribunal will be structured and how the testimony will be used to hold the US accountable for its violations of international law. Doutaghi also explains how people in the United States are being misled so they will support the use of these illegal actions, if they are even aware of them. This prevents company leadership from making necessary changes, and prevents people from feeling fulfilled, recognized, and included at work. At AllVoices, we want to change that by providing a completely safe, anonymous way for people to report issues directly to company leaders. This allows company leadership real transparency into what's happening in their companies—and the motivation to address issues quickly. Our goal is to help create safer, more inclusive companies.

Imagine being a young photographer, working to stand out and rise up in a hyper-competitive industry, then getting a call one day from Iman and David Bowie, asking to shoot the cover of Iman’s next book, after two of the covers shot by two of the world’s top photographers had been rejected? That is exactly what happened with Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri. That moment would become an inciting incident, leading evermore opportunities to deepen into her wildly imaginative and compelling magical realism style and launch years of award-winning collaborations, image-making and storytelling with everyone from HBO, Vogue and Vanity Fair, to Pepsi and Nike to L'Oreal and icons like Beyonce, Gaga, Bowie, Kate Winslet, Pharrell Williams, Eugene Brave Rock, Jay-Z and countless others. Indrani’s work is exhibited in museums worldwide and in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian. Over time, she’s integrated her love of image-making and storytelling with her passion for service in the name of social justice and impact, and expanded from still images to film, including directing the powerful Girl Epidemic documentary about sex trafficking and slavery.Beyond directing, advocacy has taken a much more central role in her work and life, with positions as the co-Host of the Global People’s Summit at the United Nations, host of the New York Live Arts' Humanities Symposium, and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Shakti Empowerment Education for women and children in India. For any director-level position, or above at Fivetran, it is required that at least 30% of candidates in the final stages of the interview process are from an underrepresented background, meaning, female or an underrepresented ethnic minority. We've actually seen a pretty big increase in our female leadership in the last two quarters and our goal eventually is to implement this for all of our positions at the company. - Amanda Townsend

Once merely a subset of HR but now its own critical department in most organizations, Global Mobility is currently undergoing a global transformation. New technologies, the constant evolution of companies, generational diversity and political situations have evolved the roles and lives of mobile professionals faster than existing policies can keep up, calling for a clear focus on the processes to be updated to cater better for the people driving Global Mobility. Are you as a Global Mobility Professional feeling overwhelmed by the speed and scope of this ‘boom'? Perhaps you need to introduce yourself to the field and get a better, broader overview of Global Mobility. Maybe you are in HR or a line manager and want to ensure that you are becoming an employer of choice for younger generations demanding Global Mobility as a prerequisite for working with you. Or, you are just on the brink of deciding for or against an international assignment as an expat or expat family and want to understand the language we use better. Let us help you! How we will help you? Working with Angie Weinberger will enable you to: run your Global Mobility in a more strategic way by deeper understanding trends and drivers of Global Mobility, develop and sort out your legal framework, policies, guidelines, exception management, give you models for improving how you explain what we do to the outside world, support expats and their spouses and enhance their “Expat Experience” through training, coaching and deeper understanding of the psychological effects of cultural adjustment, develop your professional profile and “Global Competency”. In order to make the expat experience worthwhile for their careers and support for their families even better, it takes people who want more than ticking off a checklist. It takes dedicated professionals and it needs personal communication with the entire expat family. We want to bring the human touch back into our process-driven work. That is just the tip of what Global Mobility truly is, provides not only a baseline starting point to understanding the field but is a hands-on manual for people in HR, line managers, expats and their spouses.

Sincerely, Hueman: Stories of Kindness and Doing Good

From the outside, you'd think Hazami Barmada lived the American dream all her life. Hazami's armed with a Master’s degree from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. She's a consultant for the UN Foundation and the CEO of her own social impact firm. But if you trace Hazami's roots (Syrian-Palestinan, to be exact) you'll find something different. She experienced what it was like to study at a refugee school in the outskirts of Damascus. When Hazami's family moved to the United States, they lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. During Hazami’s time at the UN, she lost sleep over how big governments, systems and bureaucracies left people out -- excluding voices that should be leading conversations around the world's most pressing problems. So she went back to the drawing board and created the Global People's Summit, the first fully virtual and inclusive summit where people are not left out of conversations because of the color of their passports, inability to travel or social status.Together with her selfless team, the 2nd Global People’s Summit will be held on September 22nd, a conference that —in the truest sense of the word— lets people in.
