Todd Fadel is our guest this week. He is an individual whose life experiences defy easy categorization. He was the lead singer of a Star Wars-themed side project to Tooth and Nail grunge band Sometime Sunday. He was a worship leader at a non-traditional church in Portland, Oregon. He helped run TOMFest. He's also a big fan of Evie. Most of our conversation in this episode is about his work running Meow Meow, an all-ages venue in Portland that straddled the Christian and secular music worlds in the early 2000s. Adam Voith's novel in progress that is mentioned in this episode. The film adaptation of Don Miller's best-selling book, Blue Like Jazz, is mentioned in this episode. It was directed by the legendary Steve Taylor. ---Do you have a Christian rock story to tell? Want to respond to this episode? The Nuclear Threshold is a three-part Burn Bag mini-series exploring how deterrence, defense, and diplomacy shape nuclear risk in the 21st century. Across three conversations with leading experts, we examine why technological optimism often outpaces reality, how fragile human systems sustain deterrence, and whether diplomacy can still prevent catastrophe in an increasingly unstable world. In this first episode, astrophysicist Dr. Laura Grego, Research Director at the Union of Concerned Scientists, joins A'ndre Gonawela to break down the science — and the myths — behind missile defense. Grego explains why the United States' decades-long effort to build a reliable shield against nuclear attack has repeatedly failed, and how those failures risk deepening global instability. From the early “Star Wars” program to today's multi-billion-dollar “Golden Dome” initiative, she unpacks the physics that make missile interception nearly impossible, the political incentives that keep these programs alive, and the illusion of safety that drives them. The conversation explores how misplaced faith in technology can push the world closer to, not further from, the nuclear threshold.

Wanna rock the ReddX merch? https://teespring.com/stores/r... Got a story? I got a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ReddX... In this episode of r/TalesofNeckbeards we have the displeasure of meeting Skeletor courtesy of u/Zucca101. Unlike the Burgerbeard that we met before, Skeletor is far from a power gamer. In fact, this neckbeard doesn't seem to know a thing about the setting of the Star Wars Tabletop that he agreed to play in... He's also way too uninvested to become decent at tabletop gaming, and due to that neckbeard lack of self-awareness he is unwilling to learn... Or maybe incapable... It doesn't matter what your background is, you always need to treat people like people and not use them simply to get off. Neckbeards seem to learn this lesson particularly slow and it really does make my blood boil... So we must bring it to light so others don't suffer alone. For your fill of neckbeard stories we've got you covered with the freshest weeaboo, niceguy, and neckbeard happenings on reddit. "Wade Ronsse is a touring drummer, private drum teacher, session musician, and a small but enthusiastic part of Boise, Idaho's vibrant music scene. He tours nationally with Americana/Jam troubadour Jeff Crosby and has been a part of many (mostly locally) well regarded bands, including Lounge on Fire, Wend, Sun Blood Stories, Freeman Dejongh, and Rider & Rolling Thunder. This more band-focused drumming has led to creative applications on projects spanning from heavy psychedelic rock, horn-driven R&B, psychedelic to avant-garde harp and string quartet experimental music, all the way to Honkey Tonk Country. His recording career is rooted in a deep appreciation for Boise-based musical creators, resulting in a small but cherished catalog of over 100 recordings with his favorite local musicians, collaborators, and friends. His 2025 record contributions include the surfy/twangy Day for Night with femme-fronted group Cactus Moon as well as the indie/folk and art rock Wait, Sky by Jesse Blake Rundle (released on DOE Records). When he's not behind the kit, Wade spends his time working on a small urban farm, taking long walks, reading and learning about mysticism and magick, consuming far too much Star Wars, and, of course, being a forever student of the drums." instagram: @darth_wade.r

Is this Book of Boba Fett episode…also the best episode of The Mandalorian??In “The Return of the Mandalorian” (Season 1, Episode 5), we get exactly zero Boba Fett—which is a surprisingly low number, given the whole clone thing, but we digress. We do, however, revel in Din Djarin's return to the small screen, Peli Moto's utter hamminess, and the deep lore of the Children of the Watch. This episode blends the comic book pulp of The Book of Boba Fett and the sleek composure of The Mandalorian for an 11/10 feast for the senses. And yeah, we cried about the N-1. (In a good way). New to Growing Up Skywalker? Come join us for non-toxic Star Wars recaps from a veteran and a new fan. This is the second appearance of Scott Christian Sava on StoryBeat. Scott's an artist, animator, illustrator, writer, director, and producer, whose work over the last 30 years, has brought some of the world's most beloved characters to life in film, television, comics, and games, from Casper the Friendly Ghost to the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers to Star Trek to Spider-Man and more. Scott's unique talents and vision have been called upon by Marvel Comics, Disney, Universal Studios, Nickelodeon, and various others. In 2000, he founded Blue Dream Studios, which, in addition to creating its own line of kids' graphic novels, has produced work for Star Wars, The X-Files, Aliens vs. Predator, and other franchises. The studio's first feature film, Animal Crackers, is available on Netflix and was the summer of 2020's #1 animated movie in the world. I've read Scott's latest book, “Becoming an Artist: How to Make Art Like a Human by Embracing Failure, Discovering Your Creative Voice, and Finding Joy in the Process.” I found the very useful concepts of Becoming an Artist easy and fun to read while being highly inspirational for anyone seeking to become a finely tuned artist. Scott also produces videos online dedicated to his over 4 million followers where he talks about art, autism, and how to be both a kindlier artist and human. Scott's mission is to “make the world a kinder, gentler place, one story at a time.”

It's been more than a year since the release of Star Wars: The Acolyte, and indeed there is a lot to say about this show. A unique and complicated look at the light side versus the dark side, this series demonstrates why many people would choose the dark side in the Star Wars saga, presenting a view of evil that we have not seen in that galaxy far, far away. Join me as I share my varied and complicated thoughts…

Tonight, we'll be speaking with Scott, who had a strange encounter back in 1991 when he was just an eleven-year-old Boy Scout. He saw standing next to a large tree froze him in place — a small, hairy figure that his young mind could only describe as looking like an Ewok from Star Wars. We'll also hear from Bryce, from Ohio, who had his own chilling experience twenty-one years ago when he was seventeen. He and a friend were spending the weekend at a family friend's cabin deep in the wilderness of Vanceburg, Kentucky. The two decided to take a paddle boat out on the property's five-acre pond, but as they neared the shore, Bryce spotted something massive — a figure with broad shoulders — moving deliberately toward them. And finally, Jimmy from Georgia has recently had strange activity on his property. Everything from strange footprints in his backwoods, rocks being thrown at him and his son being roared at. Jimmy describes a visual of a pair of glowing red eyes on the edge of a power line near his hunting area

Hello and welcome to the first episode of our eighth season! We're covering Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium for the next 25-to-70 weeks. On this two-parter of an intro episode, we're peeling the skin off the Fake Net, buying children a $212 videogame, charging more money for more megabits, realizing the Mega Drive was online in 1990, de-making to the NES, creating a million ports, overthinking world details, not just plagiarizing Dragon Quest, building love and friendship around the stars, making something no one else was making, loving Star Wars, having snacks with the staff, and wondering if we believe game localization's most powerful ego weirdo. The current millennium ends on December 31st 3000. 00:00:00 Intro 00:02:54 What Is This Podcast 00:03:34 Release Information 00:10:52 Ports 00:19:54 Playing Phantasy Star IV in 2025 00:24:55 Development History / Interviews 01:06:42 Real Net 01:13:56 Outro Patreon: patreon.com/retroam Bluesky: @retrogradeamnesia.bsky.social YouTube: www.youtube.com/@RetrogradeAmnesia E-Mail: podcast@retrogradeamnesia.com Website: www.retrogradeamnesia.com

Welcome to Databank Brawl Rewind! Databank Brawl was a series that ran on ForceCenter from 2016 to 2020, and it remains one of our more beloved shows. Though Databank Brawl is on hiatus, we wanted to celebrate it along with longtime listeners of the podcast and reintroduce it to the ForceCenter listeners who began listening to the podcast after the end of the show's run. Though all of the episodes remain on our podcast feed, it can be daunting to scroll back and find them, so we're launching Databank Rewind. Here's your chance to go back to those episodes week by week and laugh with us at old jokes, memorable moments, unforgettable guests, and, yeah, old microphones, recordings, and perhaps some Star Wars predictions that came true alongside many that most certainly did not.
