It's Friday, March 7th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Nigerian states close all schools for Muslim Ramadan fast Northern Nigerian governments of Bauchi, Katsina, Kano, and Kebbi States issued a directive to close all schools — public and private — for up to five weeks during the Muslim Ramadan fast. It has ignited strong reactions from the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Middle Belt Forum. The groups argue that the closures, which affect millions of students, pose serious threats to education, fairness, and national unity, reports International Christian Concern. John 4:24 underscores the importance of worshiping the one true God, not the false Muslim deity. It says, “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” Trump chastises Democrats for not applauding anything good On Tuesday night, President Donald Trump smartly confronted Democrats early on with their refusal to celebrate any good news. Listen. TRUMP: “This is my fifth such speech to Congress, and once again, I look at the Democrats in front of me, and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud. Nothing I can do.   “I could find a cure to the most devastating disease, a disease that would wipe out entire nations, or announce the answers to the greatest economy in history, or the stoppage of crime to the lowest levels ever recorded. And these people, sitting right here, will not clap, will not stand, and certainly will not cheer for these astronomical achievements. They won't do it no matter what. Five, five times I've been up here. It's very sad, and it just shouldn't be this way. (applause) “So, Democrats sitting before me for just this one night, why not join us in celebrating so many incredible wins for America? For the good of our nation, let's work together and let's truly make America great again.” Despite his plea, Democrats, without exception, sat on their hands as he announced the acceptance by West Point of Jason Hartley, a high school senior in the gallery, the awarding of the honorary title of Secret Service Agent to D.J. Daniel, a 13-year-old brain cancer survivor in the gallery who aspires to be a law enforcement officer, and the naming of a national wildlife refuge in the Houston area after Jocelyn Nungary, the 12-year-old girl who was brutally killed by two Venezuelan illegal aliens.  Jocelyn's mother was in the gallery. Rep. Al Green kicked out of Trump's congressional speech As he waved his cane, 73-year-old Democratic Congressman Al Green of Texas interrupted Trump by yelling, "You don't have a mandate."  Despite House Speaker Mike Johnson's patient pleas for Rep. Green to stop, he continued, prompting Johnson to have him removed. TRUMP: “Small business optimism …” GREEN: “You don't have a mandate.” TRUMP: “So, it's the single largest one month gain ever recorded, a 41-point jump.” CONGRESSMAN: “Sit down!” JOHNSON: “Members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the house and to cease any further disruptions. That's your warning. “Members are engaging in willful and continuing breach of decorum, and the chair is prepared to direct the Sergeant at Arms to restore order to the joint session. (applause) “Mr. Green, take your seat. Take your seat, sir.” GREEN: “No mandate.” JOHNSON: “Take your seat. Finding that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum, the Chair now directs the Sergeant at Arms to restore order. Remove this gentleman from the chamber.” House censured Rep. Al Green for disruption of Trump speech Two days later, the U.S. House of Representatives considered a resolution to censure Rep. Green for his disruptive behavior. CLERK: “House Resolution 189: Resolution censuring Representative Al Green of Texas.” After five minutes, House Speaker Mike Johnson announced the vote results. JOHNSON: “On this vote, the yeas are 224, the nays are 198, with two answering present. The resolution is adopted.” The censure of Democratic Congressman Al Green of Texas passed largely along party lines, with 10 Democrats voting with Republicans in favor of the resolution and two lawmakers, including Green, voting "present," reports USA Today. JOHNSON: “Will Representative Green present himself to the well? By its adoption of House Resolution 189, the House has resolved that Representative Al Green be censured. That Representative Al Green forthwith present himself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure, and that Representative Al Green be censured with public reading of this resolution by the Speaker.” DEMOCRATS: (sing “We Shall Overcome”) After the vote, instead of standing silently while the censure was read, the Texas Democrat led a group of colleagues in a rendition of “We Shall Overcome,” a song long associated with civil rights protests, suggesting that somehow the censuring of Green for his disruptive behavior was racist, reports Roll Call. JOHNSON: (Banging of gavel) “The House will come to order. The House will come to order.” After the Democrats refused to stop singing “We Shall Overcome,” House Speaker Johnson was forced to impose a break called recess. JOHNSON: “Pursuant to clause 12a of rule one, the House will stand in recess subject to the call of the chair.” A censure is considered a severe public rebuke of a legislator brought by other members of Congress, a form of punishment second only to expulsion. The U.S. Constitution allows for Congress to "punish its members for disorderly behavior." Censure is a formal disapproval intended to discipline members of the House. Sen. Fetterman: Democrats are metaphorical car alarms nobody pays attention to Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania had some of the harshest criticism for his party's protests from the chamber, reports RollCall. On Wednesday, Fetterman tweeted, “A sad cavalcade of self and unhinged petulance. It only makes Trump look more presidential and restrained. We're becoming the metaphorical car alarms that nobody pays attention to — and it may not be the winning message.” In 1 Corinthians 13:11, the Apostle Paul wrote, “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” Falling just as flat as Congressman Green's babbling were the Democratic congresswomen who staged a silent protest by wearing pink and other Democrats who held up little paddles emblazoned with lines including “FALSE”, “MUSK STEALS”, and “SAVE MEDICAID.” Plus, some Democrats walked out in the middle of the speech, revealing t-shirts with messages after they removed their jackets. Oil prices dropped to lowest levels in 3 years Oil prices have dropped to their lowest levels in over three years, driven by uncertainties related to the ongoing trade war, which is impacting the global economy and energy demand outlook. Gold up And finally, gold prices rose on Wednesday, supported by a weaker dollar, as investors awaited the release of the U.S. payrolls data later this week for additional insights into the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, reports CNBC. U.S. gold futures rose by 0.2% to $2,927.50 per ounce. It's Friday, January 17th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Christian in Sudan loses wife, home for converting The Muslim family of a young man in Sudan's Darfur Region has disowned him and compelled his wife to divorce him because he converted to Christianity, reports Morning Star News. The convert in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur state, put his faith in Christ in January of last year. A hardline Muslim identified only as Sheikh Amaar discovered his faith and on August 23rd told him to return to Islam or face serious consequences. The Christian, whose name is withheld for security purposes, did not fear for his life and continued growing in his faith. The Islamic teacher later incited family members and other area Muslims to attack him. A relative told him, “You are no longer a member of our family, because you have changed your religion,” and, on October 9th, the Christian left his home. After he and other converts from Islam were accused of apostasy last year, they took refuge with Christian friends in another location. One of the other converts who has also gone into hiding with him said, “Remember us in your prayers because of these challenges we are facing.” According to Open Doors, Sudan is the fifth most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Matthew 5:10 says, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven." DeSantis picks Florida Attorney General to replace Marco Rubio in Senate Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis appointed state Attorney General Ashley Moody to the U.S. Senate yesterday, setting her up to fill the seat of Sen. Marco Rubio, whom President-elect Donald Trump chose to be Secretary of State, reports NBC News. MOODY: “I will bring the same persistence and passion and tenacity as a United States senator that I have brought as Florida's Attorney General. If you have worked with me and fought with me over the last six years, you know, I don't think of this as a job. I think of it as a calling.” House passes Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act House Speaker Mike Johnson defended the lower chamber's passage of a bill protecting women's sports by noting that sex goes back to the time of Genesis when God created Adam and Eve, reports The Christian Post. Johnson addressed reporters at a press conference Tuesday after the Republican-controlled House passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in a 218-206 vote to keep trans-identified men from competing in women's athletic competitions. To his credit, House Speaker Johnson affirmed God's creation of two genders. JOHNSON: “We know from Scripture, and from nature, that men are men and women are women, and men cannot become women. It's sad that we have to say that. It's a matter of biology. It's how we're made, and if we try to ignore that or to undo it, we do so at our peril and to the detriment of our daughters.” Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” Planned Parenthood broke tax law by providing workspace to Harris campaign A Planned Parenthood in Florida violated its tax-exempt status by providing a workspace for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential election campaign In October and on November 1st, according to an IRS complaint filed by a pro-life advocacy group, reports The Christian Post. 40 Days for Life, which conducts prayer vigils outside Planned Parenthood and other abortion mills, filed the 42-page complaint in December. The complaint stated, "Planned Parenthood's activities appear to constitute prohibited political activities. They clearly advocate for one party and particular candidates." 4 ways Biden is sabotaging Trump on his way out of office And finally, President Joe Biden has less than a week left in the White House, but that does not mean he's down for the count quite yet. Next Monday, January 20th, President-elect Donald Trump will be officially sworn into office, marking the beginning of his second term. But after such a bitter and contentious election, the Democrats are not ready to roll over. Instead, they have been working around the clock to ensure that Trump will face as many obstacles and challenges as possible the minute he is sworn in. These political landmines are designed to sabotage his presidency—at the cost of the well-being of the American people. The Blaze documented four ways Biden is sabotaging Trump on his way out of office. First, Biden pardoned dozens of controversial criminals, including 37 felons on death row. Plus, Hunter's 11-year-long blanket immunity sets a dangerous precedent for future presidents. Second, Biden is intent on destroying U.S. energy. Biden has made several moves that have damaged America's ability to produce its energy independently, including canceling the Keystone XL pipeline on his first day in office. Earlier this month, Biden signed another order that has dire consequences for the energy sector, effectively blocking any new drilling off the U.S. coast indefinitely. This not only further kneecaps the U.S. oil industry during a time when gas and energy prices are on the rise, but moreover, the way the executive order was written means Trump will have a much harder time undoing it.  Third, Biden is escalating overseas wars. Biden has decided to up the ante by supplying Ukraine with long-range missiles, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's warnings that Russia would consider this an act of war. It's almost like Biden wants to start World War III before handing the reigns over to Trump. And fourth, installing a shadow cabinet. Shortly after Trump's landslide victory, Democratic Rep. Wiley Nickel of North Carolina made a disturbing speech on the House floor where he proposed the creation of a so-called "Shadow Cabinet" designed to hamper the Trump administration and to step in if Trump were removed from office.  Listen. NICKEL:  “As Democrats, we simply failed to convince the American people we have better ideas to solve their problems, but we do. Now we need to dust ourselves off and get ready to fight. We can't let Donald Trump's extreme [Make America Great Again] agenda go unanswered or unopposed. Zone defense isn't going to work. We're going to have to go man-on-man. “So, here's an idea for how to organize our opposition. We need to borrow from our British friends and appoint a ‘shadow cabinet' to fight back against the worst abuses of a second Trump administration. “Across the Atlantic, the British have something we don't, a team from the opposition that mirrors the government's own cabinet members. They watch the cabinet closely, publicly challenging, scrutinizing and offering new ideas. It's another form of checks and balances, a quiet guardrail that holds those in power accountable. “With a shadow cabinet, there's no hiding. Each decision by the government faces a ready counterpoint, not just from the media and voters, but also from political leaders poised to step in.” Ironically enough, Congressman Nickel is the second cousin of conservative commentator Tucker Carlson. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Myanmar's military junta setting up sham election In an informal consultation with representatives from Thailand, China, India, Laos, and Bangladesh earlier this month, military junta leaders from Myanmar indicated that plans for a national election in 2025 are continuing, reports International Christian Concern. While analysts have largely panned the planned elections as a meaningless exercise meant to whitewash the military junta's undemocratic seizure of power in 2021, some of Myanmar's neighbors seem ready to accept the elections as legitimate. According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, the junta has arrested 28,051 citizens since the 2021 coup, many for participating in the country's pro-democracy movement. More than 21,000 of that number are still imprisoned to this day, and the junta has killed more than 6,000 in its attempts to crack down on political and military opposition to its rule. According to Open Doors, Myanmar is the 17th most dangerous country worldwide in which to be a Christian. 19 Ontario women sent to US for abortions, costing taxpayers over $300,000 From 2023 to 2024, Ontario sent 19 women to the United States for abortions which were covered by taxpayer dollars under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan, reports LifeSiteNews.com. With an average cost per abortion of $17,382, a pro-life researcher suspects many or all were late-term abortions. Despite pro-abortion advocates' claims, more than 50,000 abortions a year take place after almost four months into pregnancy and approximately 10,000 late-term abortions occur after five months gestation. In the face of the pro-death culture, Proverbs 31:8 declares, “Speak out on behalf of the voiceless, and for the rights of all who are vulnerable.” Trump to be sentenced days before inauguration Before President-elect Donald Trump returns to the White House he'll return to the courthouse, a New York judge ruled Friday, reports CBS News. Justice Juan Merchan will sentence Trump for his crimes on January 10 — just 10 days before his inauguration on January 20 — in a court proceeding that will be unlike any in America's 248 years.  Trump's conviction in New York stemmed from a $130,000 so-called "hush money" payment his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, made to adult film star Stephanie Gregory in the days before the 2016 election.  House Speaker Mike Johnson re-elected in close vote Republican Mike Johnson of Louisiana was re-elected House speaker on Friday, narrowly winning a showdown with his party's right-flank after a last-minute assist from President-elect Donald Trump, reports ABC News. Johnson was handed the gavel after a dramatic vote that saw the Louisiana native on track to lose on the first ballot minutes before two Republican lawmakers, Ralph Norman of South Carolina and Keith Self of Texas approached the desk and changed their stance following what one called a "lively discussion" with Trump. JOHNSON: “I'm grateful for this election, for the confidence this chamber has placed in me. It is the great honor of my life to serve this body with all of you.” House Speaker Johnson highlighted what has made America unique. JOHNSON: “We are stewards of the great American Revolution that began almost exactly now, 250 years ago, 1775 and 1776. It will fall at the time of this Congress, the Great Anniversary. “In these two and a half centuries, we've been reminded repeatedly that freedom is never free. We have stood tall as the greatest nation on the face of the Earth. It is without debate.  We are the freest, the most powerful, most benevolent nation that has ever been in the history of the world. “We are the ones who ended slavery, who laid the transcontinental railroad, who gave women the right to vote, who won two world wars, who landed on the moon, and who won the Cold War. Throughout our history, we have done what no one thought was possible.” And Johnson underscored the principles that have set America apart and should remain a part of our future. JOHNSON: “We also recognize that the core principles that made America what we are must still be preserved today: individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets, human dignity. These are the ingredients, the things that made us who we are. We will act quickly, and we will start by defending our nation's borders.” American churches closing their doors And finally, as American church attendance continues to plummet, many pastors and priests are accepting that it's time to sell their properties, reports ABC News. As the person leading renewal and development for the Diocese of Buffalo, New York, Father Bryan Zielenieski is one of many religious leaders across America who have closed houses of worship in recent years.  He said, "We essentially went to half of what we used to back in the early 2000s. We lost about 100 parishes." Zielenieski expects he'll need to shut down another 70 churches. On average, more than half of the diocese's churches today are baptizing fewer than one person a month, and 59% of them are spending more money than they take in. In the late 1940s, nearly 80% of Americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue, mosque, or temple, according to Gallup. Today, just 45% say the same. And only 32% say that they worship God in a house of prayer once a week. Hebrews 10:24-25 underscores the urgency of regular church attendance.  It says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, January 6th in the year of our Lord 2025. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  Or get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. The United States Government is upside down! OMG: The House of Representatives went down a rabbit hole. House Speaker Johnson (R-LA) told us last year that we'd NEVER have to go down again. Of course, it's all about money. The massive Continuing Resolution bill crafted by Johnson's minions was blasted so dramatically when details were issued caused the measure to be withdrawn from the voting process. That bill was to fund the nation "temporarily," which would give Congress until March to prepare a "total" spending bill. What happens now? On today's show, we hear from numerous "experts" who both express their horrors about the spending bill and blame House Speaker Johnson for bringing this massive bill to the House for consideration. After hearing from President-elect Donald Trump that he refuses to encourage passage of the bill, Johnson pulled the bill off the floor of the House. In the show, we give you many issues included in the bill that can be classified as nothing but pork. There are numerous other events in the world that we should be dealing with. However, nothing else Congress can do must be considered until this debacle is resolved.

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, any attempt by Iran or any other country to assassinate President Donald Trump should be considered an act of war. Iran does not want Trump to be re-elected because he will end their free reign over the Middle East they have under the Biden/Harris administration. Kamala Harris does not stand with Israel because she does not even stand with America and cannot defend us from Iran and China like Trump can. The U.S. is refusing to provide intel to Israel to help them win their war with Hezbollah because they would rather surrender just like with the Afghanistan withdrawal. These people have turned the world into a war because this is all Harris knows. Also, House Speaker Johnson has announced they will look into the FCC fast-tracking a sale that would turn over hundreds of radio stations to a Soros-backed group that will affect conservative talk radio. This is what it is like in fascist Marxist regimes, where only state-approved programs are allowed to be on the air. Later, Mark is joined by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to discuss his campaign for re-election against a radical left-wing kook and facing millions of dollars in negative propaganda from Chuck Schumer and George Soros, and the damage being caused by the Biden/Harris open border. Mark also speaks with Matt Walsh about his new movie, Am I Racist?, which exposes foolish Democrat arguments in an entertaining way. Learn more about your ad choices. It's Monday, June 3, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Pakistani officials refusing to prosecute Muslims for death by torture With suspects in a homicide case pressuring the victim's relatives to make false statements, police in Lahore, Pakistan are declining to arrest them in the case of a Catholic man tortured to death by his Muslim employers, reports The Christian Post. Sonia Shahid, widow of 35-year-old Masih Shahid and mother to their six children, said her husband's employer tortured him on May 8, resulting in his death 10 days later. The Muslim employer wrongly suspected he had stolen goats from a farm in the Sheikhupura District located in the Punjab Province. Proverbs 24:1-2 says, “Do not envy the wicked, do not desire their company; for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.” According to Open Doors, Pakistan is the seventh most dangerous country worldwide for Christians to live. House Speaker Johnson predicts Trump victory Appearing on “Fox and Friends,” House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican from Louisiana, reacted to the Trump guilty verdict in the hush money trial. JOHNSON: “What happened there was outrageous and the American people see it. This is a purely political exercise, not a legal one. Everybody knows that; they know intuitively that it's wrong. The people are outraged. “Because President Trump is crushing Joe Biden in the polls, they see the Democrat Party and the Left so desperate to stop him that they'll risk the destruction of our entire legal system to do it. And that is not hyperbole. That's what's going on here. “We broke records on our fundraising platforms last night. We even set up a new website, go to http://www.SupportDJT.com. Stand with him and make sure the right verdict is rendered November 5th. That's the American people's verdict.” House Speaker Johnson made a bold prediction. JOHNSON: “I'm going to tell you what will happen. I predict this will increase turnout on our side, that he will win decisively. He will become the next president. He was already, as I said, crushing Joe Biden in the polls. “I think, as this plays out, and people get more and more frustrated about it, I think it will help us and that huge enthusiasm gap, that already existed between the Trump and Biden campaigns, will be even wider. “People now see Donald Trump as a symbol of something. He's more than just an individual. He's a symbol of fighting back against this government corruption, the deep state, the bureaucracy, and all the rest. We need his leadership in the White House, now more than ever.” Mark Levin: Trump attorneys should appeal to Supreme Court Appearing on Sean Hannity's Fox show, radio talk show host Mark Levin summarized his take on the Trump guilty verdict. LEVIN: “I'll say this: no crime, no jurisdiction, no due process, conflicted judge, [George] Soros prosecutor, Manhattan jury.” Levin urged Trump's attorneys to appeal the guilty verdict to the U.S. Supreme Court. LEVIN: “So, what they need to do now, in my view, is to go up the appellate chain in New York. We need to stop whining about how long that's going to take. Seek an emergency trial to get to the Supreme Court. People say, ‘Well, they're not going to take it.' “You know, what if George Patton had said, ‘I don't think I can get to the Battle of the Bulge in time,'  we would have lost World War II. “I am sick and tired of these legal defeatists. We need to stop whining, stop complaining. We know what we're up against. We gotta fight these people with our smarts. We have to take some risks. “We need to look at Bush v. Gore. Why did the Supreme Court take that case from the Florida Supreme Court? We need to give the Supreme Court the opportunity to fix this. “Why? We cannot have local acting judges, [George] Soros' District Attorney's Office, 15,000 District Attorneys' offices, God knows how many state judges -- destroying our federal election system, influencing how we elect the president of the United States. “And if we have a pathway to bring it to the Supreme Court, even though it's rarely used, we use it. We use every legal quiver that we possibly can muster, rather than sitting around and saying, ‘Well, it'll take three months.' Fine! So far, the judicial system, so far, has let down the American people. The Supreme Court needs to step up. This is a federal matter, a presidential matter, and it's gonna get worse before it gets better.” Golf champion Grayson Murray, 30, committed suicide The parents of PGA champion Grayson Murray, who died mysteriously at the age of 30, have now revealed that he died by suicide. In a statement through the PGA Tour website, Eric and Terry Murray said, “We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It's surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves, but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world. It's a nightmare. “Life wasn't always easy for Grayson, and although he took his own life, we know he rests peacefully now. “Please honor Grayson by being kind to one another. If that becomes his legacy, we could ask for nothing else.” Grayson had struggled with alcoholism, anxiety, and depression. He said this to a reporter. GRAYSON MURRAY: “If my game is a 9 out of 10, my mental game was a 1 out of 10 for my whole career really. That's what's kept me from being the player that I could have been.” After winning the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii in January 2024 by sinking a 40-foot birdie putt in a playoff, Murray said he became sober in May 2023. In front of a live national TV audience, he credited Jesus for his success, reported CBN. REPORTER: “How important is the work that you've done off the golf course battling alcoholism, mental struggles? How important was that for you to be in the right frame of mind today?” MURRAY: “It's everything, you know. Jesus Christ is first and foremost. Without Him, none of this would be possible. He's just given me a platform to write a new story, write my own story. My hope is everyone there at home watching can get a little inspiration from me. If I just help one person, that's all it takes. Jesus Christ changed my life.” Tragically, in a moment of sadness, his mental anguish trumped his hope in Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says, “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen, but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” The Worldview needs to raise $114,200 by Friday, June 28th And finally, during the month of June, The Worldview newscast team is looking for financial partners to help fund the next fiscal year for a total of $114,200. The Sins Of The Son: Parents Of Mass Shooter Face Harsh Sentencing

Jennifer and James Crumbley were both sentenced to 10–15 years in prison on charges of involuntary manslaughter after the prosecution convinced the jury that the Crumbley's gross negligence enabled their son to commit a mass shooting at Oxford High School in 2021. Sentencing the parents of mass shooters is a relatively new concept for the courts. While the sentencing guidelines for this crime are typically seven years, the actual sentence Judge Cheryl Matthews handed down exceeded those guidelines, opting for a harsher-than-recommended punishment. Criminal defense attorney Jonna Spilbor joins the podcast to break down how this case marks a shift in standards for punishing guardians of mass shooters, why she feels that this case should not have been taken to criminal court, and shares her fears that this ruling will be a legal slippery slope. U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is set to become the first cabinet member facing impeachment in over 100 years. The move has been met with enthusiasm from Senate Republicans. Now, it faces an unlikely path forward, with Senate Majority Leader Schumer reportedly looking at multiple procedural options to avoid or table these articles of impeachment. House Speaker Johnson revealed on Tuesday that they would plan on delivering articles to the Senate next week, showing the GOP is not done fighting for this trial. Senator Roger Marshall (R-K.S.) says not allowing the trial would be “a nuclear option for the Democrats.” He joins the podcast to explain why our border crisis can be traced back to Secretary Mayorkas and why he believes impeachment is necessary.
