On September 13th John Horn talked to the Round TAlbe about "The Wilson-Kautz Raid, June-July 1864"  For for Info: WWW.ChicagoCWRT.ORG Grant wasted no time after his Petersburg assaults of June 15-18, 1864, failed to capture the city. He launched his second offensive against Petersburg hours later. Among other things, he sent his cavalry on a raid to cut the Confederate railroads south of Petersburg. This would slow any reinforcements sent from the south and west to the enemy at Petersburg and Richmond. Grant also hoped that in case his infantry failed in its mission a lack of provisions would force the foe to abandon those cities. But at Petersburg Grant faced Lee and not Floyd as at Fort Donelson in 1862 or Pemberton as at Vicksburg in 1863. Lee, his cavalry commander Hampton, and Mahone smashed Grant's cavalry raiders at the battles of Sappony Church and First Reams Station. Born and reared in Chicago, John Horn has practiced law there since 1976. He has written three books and co-edited another about Petersburg, Virginia's soldiers, and the siege of that city. His most recent book, The Petersburg Regiment in the Civil War: A History of the 12th Virginia Infantry from John Brown's Hanging to Appomattox, 1859- 2  1861 (Savas Beatie), won the 2019 Army Historical Foundation Distinguished Writing Award for Unit History. The Big “I” Young Agents partnered with Trusted Choice to deliver information on the importance of mentorship as part of a special hard market bonus series on Agency Nation Radio. Guests Krista Kautz, Producer at Berrong Insurance, and Stewart Berrong, Owner of Berrong Insurance, were interviewed by Cash McMillen, National Young Agents Committee member, on their partnership as mentor and mentee. The conversation provides best practices for finding a mentor, approaching the relationship, and the learning from seasoned industry professionals. Kautz, when reflecting on asking Berrong to be her mentor, said, “One of my main things to mentees is to be curious. Ask the questions because I never would have gotten involved in the Young Agents program had I not said ‘hey I see this on your calendar. What is that? How do I get involved in that?” Kautz recommends that mentees have ambition when reaching out to their mentors. Having a drive to succeed and find new opportunities for growth will help form a stronger relationship with a mentor. If they have any recommendations or ideas for growth, Kautz says that internal drive to grow will help you be more successful During this session, the future of the industry was discussed. There are an estimated 400,000 employees within the insurance industry set to retire in the next few years. Now is the time for conversations between newer employees and seasoned staff to create opportunities for a transfer of knowledge. “The older generation, if you will, is taking our knowledge, our experience, and handing it down to them [younger people]. We have the opportunity to learn from the younger generation as they try to figure that out and apply it to what they're dealing with day-to-day,” Berrong said. Agency Nation Radio is where insurance professionals turn on the mic and share unscripted stories about leadership, technology, marketing, success, and failure—stories that helped make them the professionals they are today. Das erste Star-Interview mit Phil Collins und Songwriting-Training. Julia Kautz war jahrelang Chefreporterin der Jugendzeitschrift BRAVO und ist als Sängerin sowie Komponistin aktiv. Sie schrieb u.a. Black Goo has become more than an innocuous symbol on our black-mirror computer, television, and phone screens. Scrying through these devices has conjured something very real into our zeitgeist and lexicon. Invariably the black substance is a byproduct of the insatiable obsession the entertainment industry and silicon valley have with all forms of power. However, it is also an otherworldly consciousness working through these outlets to reshape the planet and human civilization. From music videos and demonic possession to quantum computers and cosmicism, Black Goo is now acknowledged as some THING real. Harald Kautz will help us understand its history and technological aspects.

Lease accounting has a lot of moving pieces. And they are always changing due to the ever-evolving regulations around lease accounting. If you don't keep up with your lease valuations and amortization schedules, you might be exposing yourself to financial risks. Also, these changes drive the admin costs that are required to maintain the leases. And ERP systems don't make it any easier as they might be difficult for lease admins to use them effectively. In today's episode, our guest, Greg Kautz, shares his insights into the nuances of lease accounting and why they are harder to handle with ERP systems. He also discusses how leases vary across industries and which ones have the most burden of lease administration. Finally, he discusses why alignment of master data is important between your ERP and lease administration software if you plan to use one for your lease management. For more information on growth strategies for SMBs using ERP and digital transformation, visit our community at wbs.rocks or elevatiq.com.
