#islam #malaysia #peace Islamic Scholar Sheikh Imran Hosein - What Non-Muslims Need to Know About Islam Sheikh Imran Nazar Hosein is an Islamic scholar who specialises in contemporary interpretations of Islamic eschatology (a field of study in Islam concerning future events that would happen in the end times that is primarily based on sources from the Quran and Sunnah). Sheikh Imran gave up his career as a diplomat in 1985 to dedicate his life to the mission of Islam, since then a tireless missionary who travels for years at a time in the cause of Islam, including in Malaysia, where he is occasionally based. Religion means to surrender to God. It doesn't matter what religion you profess. It doesn't matter. But you must learn how to obey the Supreme Lord. That is religion. Religion does not mean that you stamp some stereotype religion, "I am Christian," "I am Hindu," "I am Muslim," "I am Buddhist," and then fight. That is not religion. That is fanaticism. Religion means how one has become devoted to God. That is religion. You claim to be religious, or you claim to be Hindu or Christian or Buddhist. That's all right But do you know what is God? Oh, everyone is silent. He does not know what is God. And what is his religion? If you do not know what is God, a vague idea, that is not religion. You must know what is God. Just like to become an American citizen, it requires you to know something of the history of America. So ask an American citizen, "What are you?" "Now, I'm American." "Who is your president?' "I do not know." What is this nonsense American? Would you like to hear from him, "I do not know who is my president." Similarly, a human being professing some certain type of religion, but if you ask him, "What is God?" Religion must be in relationship with God; any religion. But ask him, "What is God?" No answer. But religion means yato bhaktir adhoksaje — by practising it, one becomes a devotee of the Lord. That is religion, First-class religion. CC Madhya 25.121, Purport: When we are on the material platform, there are different types of religions—Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and so on. These are instituted for a particular time, a particular country or a particular person. Consequently there are differences. Christian principles are different from Hindu principles, and Hindu principles are different from Muslim and Buddhist principles. These may be considered on the material platform, but when we come to the platform of transcendental devotional service, there are no such considerations. The transcendental service of the Lord (sādhana-bhakti) is above these principles. The world is anxious for religious unity, and that common platform can be achieved in transcendental devotional service. This is the verdict of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. When one becomes a Vaiṣṇava, he becomes transcendental to all these limited considerations. Six hundred years ago, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani —an esteemed judge, poet, and scholar in Cairo— wrote “Merits of the Plague,” a landmark work of history and religious thought that looked at accounts of centuries worth of plague outbreak and their possible origins, along with explanations of why God would allow such devastation to take place. This work wasn't only theoretical but also based on experience. He survived the bubonic plague, which took the lives of three of his children, not to mention tens of millions of others throughout the medieval world. Holding up an eerie mirror to our own time, Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani reflects on the origins of plagues—from those of Muhammad's era to the Black Death of his own—and what it means that such catastrophes could have been willed by God, while also chronicling the fear, isolation, scapegoating, economic tumult, political failures, and crises of faith that he lived through. But in considering the meaning of suffering and mass death, he also offers a message of radical hope. Today's guests are Joel Blecher and Mairaj Syed, editors and translators of the book into modern English. We discuss the book and how it weaves together accounts of evil jinn, religious stories, medical manuals, death-count registers, poetry, and the author's personal anecdotes. “Merits of the Plague” is a profound reminder that with tragedy comes one of the noblest expressions of our humanity: the practice of compassion, patience, and care for those around us.

Reading Now: “Thirty Lessons for Those Who Fast” By Aa'id Abdullah al Qarni Downloaded from the kallamullah website I have gathered in this book, Thirty Lessons for Those who Fast the most pertinent Quranic verses, authentic hadiths, delightful poetry and touching advice. It is, therefore, a book for the righteous when they meet for pleasant conversations. It is a gift for wayfarers when they break their journeys for rest, a treasure for those who share mutual love and respect, when they assemble for picnics. It is, in addition, an asset for counsellors in their lectures. Indeed, the teacher will benefit from it, the orator will turn to it and the imam of the masjid will find it rewarding to read. This episode was recorded on the night before Eid and at the conclusion of the Cradle2Grave series. We decided to have a slightly different format with a panel of interesting guests including Islamic scholar Shaykh Amer Jamil, broadcaster and fundraiser Naeem Raza, medical doctor and GP Dr Nadeem Bhatti, Islamic finance expert Omar Shaikh, university graduate and Radio Ramadhan presenter Rameez Mahmood and my co-host Umran Amin. It was a light hearted discussion but also one where we reflected about our own stage in life. It is a longer episode but having listened to it again in 2022, there is so much that is still relevant. We hope it brings a smile to your face. Our topics included The (alleged?) origin of croissants! This episode is the second installment in the series ‘The Epileptic Prophet' in which we discuss Muhammad's neurological condition and possible epilepsy. We were joined by Dr. Ali A. Rizvi to help us with his take on this topic based on his experience as a medical doctor specializing in pathology. We kicked off the discussion by giving a quick recap of the first episode in this series. We then move moved on to talk about Muhammad's postictal psychosis symptoms while he was receiving revelation. We then compared the descriptions of Muhammad's condition in the Islamic literature to the symptoms of contemporary epilepsy patients. Additionally, we listened in on an interview by Dr. Dede Korkut in which he explains psychosis and behavioral changes in epilepsy patients. The conversation then moved on to how Islamic scholars and the Muslim population in general attribute epilepsy to jinn possession. We went through various hadith, Quranic verses, and other Islamic literature that support this idea. We also responded to Farid's assertion that people around Muhammad did not notice or record any accounts of Muhammad having seizure-like symptoms or epilepsy. We presented numerous Quranic verses and hadith in which people thought that Muhammad was crazy, mad, or jinn possessed. Finally, we discussed Muhammad's conditions while receiving revelation. We talked about Muhammad's auditory hallucinations, his convulsive seizures, and his paroxysm. To support our claims we went through a vast number of Quranic verses, Seerah, Hadith, and tafsir and we compared them to the books on Muhammad written by neuroscience experts. A full list of resources referenced in this presentation can be found on the link in the description below. I urge you to take a listen and also to check out the sources we used. As Muslim communities around the world celebrate the end of Ramadan with Eid-al-Fitr, we are honoured to be joined by Imam Asim Hafiz OBE, Islamic Religious Advisor to Chief of the Defence Staff and Service Chiefs. Imam Asim became an Islamic Scholar in 1999, a process which lasted ten years during which time he also memorised the entire Qur'an. He has held positions in a range of religious and secular organisations and was awarded an OBE in 2014 for services to Defence. In the podcast, Imam Asim addresses the misconceptions from certain corners of society that service life is incompatible with the Muslim faith and draws symmetries between Islamic values and the RMAS motto ‘Serve to Lead'. He speaks passionately about the need for leaders to have spiritual and emotional competence and how one must know themselves before they can successfully lead others. Imam Asim also speaks openly about the importance of military leaders having cultural competence and how they must show openness, transparency, and candour. Finally, Imam Asim discusses the prevalence of judgement within our culture and how a lack of trust will cause a breakdown of societal systems.

The Volatility of the Heart & The Gifts of Ramadan Part 2 (Ml. Naeem Dockrat Islamic Scholar) by Radio Islam
At all times, prophets have come and brought the Truth for all people, for all mankind. But gradually, the Truth was distorted and religions were created on its basis, which became institutions of power and instruments of human enslavement. What the prophets taught was replaced or erased, thus, the opportunity for a person to communicate with God directly was taken away. On March 20th, 2021, the event took place, the significance of which cannot be overestimated - it was the world conference “Creative Society. What the Prophets Dreamed of.” For the first time in the history of our civilization, representatives of all religions, scientists, and researchers came together to purify the Truth and openly declare the need for all people to unite for building the Creative Society that all our prophets bequeathed to us. One of the speakers at the conference was Aidar Khayrutdinov, Ph.D. in philosophy, an Islamic scholar, teacher, historian, and author of books. He spoke of the distortions in Islam and how the Truth was interpreted to empower a few individuals over all Muslims. What is the true meaning of the word "Islam"? Why are Muslims taught to read tafsirs instead of letting them read the Quran which is the direct speech of Allah? How is the true striving for Allah, for his love, replaced by the performance of rituals? We live in a unique time when every person is the chosen one. Each of us is responsible for the future of the entire planet. Only by turning to God, to our prophets, and following their precepts, we can build a peaceful, safe, and happy Creative society. The Minister of Information and Culture in Nigeria has disclosed that bandits and criminal fundamentalists are more willing to listen to religious leaders as mediators than the government.El Hadji Lai Mohammed said on Friday that renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Mahmoud Gumi was in order when he met ,earlier in the week, with a group of fighting men in Zamfara State .He said “It is not unusual for a respected cleric to have the confidence of (approaching) outlaws or bandits,” the minister said on Friday during TVC's ‘This Morning' show.He added: “As a matter of fact, they are probably ready to listen to him more than they are ready to listen to the government. They are probably ready to believe him more.“So, it is not unusual for him to act as a bridge between government and the outlaws in an attempt to find solution.Gumi had visited camps of the bandits in the forests of Zamfara State to dialogue with them. His words: “Let there be peace; you all have a legitimate concern and grievances, and I believe that since the Niger Delta armed militants were integrated by the Federal Government and are even in the business of pipelines protection, the Federal Government should immediately look into how something like that will be done to the Fulani to provide them with reasonable means of livelihood including jobs, working capitals, entrepreneurship training, building clinic and schooling,” Sheikh Gumi had told the bandits during the visits.Gumi said that from what he had seen and heard from the gunmen they appeared to him as insurgents more than bandits. The outspoken cleric later visited Governor Bello Matawalle to brief him on his mission.

The Optimized Muslim Podcast - Self Development For The Muslim
We sometimes make the mistake of thinking that the great Muslims of the past had it different, they didn't have our challenges right? This can lead to a defeatist attitude that is unlikely to help you succeed. This revealing quote from Ibn Jawzi reveals the mechanics of his amazing mind as he beautifully wrestles with the idea of attaining some form of balance in life in what resembles a journal or diary entry. He speaks of attaining wealth and being independent of rulers whilst also excelling in his personal Deeni objectives as well as studying, writing and teaching the people. He speaks of his desire to marry and buy things but how this can conflict with his studies and time spent in solitude. This also counters the notion that I have seen vocalized by some who state that the books of the great scholars only depict their “ideal” self and therefore was not representative of their day to day – an idea deeply troubling to sincere Muslims. A link to the book from which I took the quote: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Way-Spiritual-Muslim-Spirituality-al-Ghaz%C4%81l%C4%AB/dp/1791704964 If this content makes you think, you find it beneficial and it improves your life in any way, please make Dua for the success of this project

Mufti Menk is arguably the most popular and renowned Mufti on the planet. Having been in the 'Top 500 Most Influential Muslims' list 6 years in a row, his name and online lectures are a staple in millions of Muslim households. To no surprise, we learn the Mufti was reading the Quran at the tender age of 3 and memorised it cover-to-cover by 11 (yes, you read those numbers right). A fast-tracked upbringing was just the beginning; after being enrolled (somewhat a surprise to him) into Madina University, Ismail Menk began on a journey of hardship, enlightenment, struggle and joy. We trace the Mufti's journey from childhood in a Christian school, to early medical career aspirations, studying abroad and a difficult divorce - all of which made the Islamic Scholar we know as Mufti Menk. The Transit Lounge chronicles the journeys of people who’ve had a considerable impact on the Muslim world. In season 1, we hear from successful entrepreneurs, academics, scholars and politicians. Hosted by Mohamad Zaoud, each episode explores the highs and lows of our guests, and tackles the question of our time - what does it take to find balance when living a contemporary Muslim life. Mohamad Zaoud is a brand enthusiast and consults businesses and NGOs on brand & growth strategies. He’s currently the Manager of Digital Growth – EMEA, and formerly Head of Marketing MENA, at Al Jazeera Media Network where he’s worked on flagship brands including Al Jazeera and AJ+.
To say Professor John Esposito is an accomplished academic would be an understatement. He's Professor of Islamic studies at the esteemed Georgetown University, has published 60 books (yes, within one lifetime) and is a senior member of the UN Alliance of Civilisations. To make this seem all the stranger, we discover Professor Esposito spent a decade of his life away from his family becoming a Priest (from the impressionable age of 14 no less!). From here, a web of coincidences, hard work and an ingredient we only later discover, take John Esposito from a 14-year old boy to a global authority on Islam. This interview is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster; with lots of laughter, some tears and an abundance of wisdom. Join us as we reflect on the Professor’s life and gain insights into the task ahead for the Muslims in Western contexts.

From Charleston to Pluto: Looking To The Heavens and Close To HomeThis week on State of Belief, Interfaith Alliance’s weekly radio show and podcast, Interfaith Alliance Executive Director Rabbi Jack Moline is filling in for Welton Gaddy as host. We’ll check in with PICO National Network’s Pastor Mike McBride about his organization’s broad response to the tragedy in Charleston. We’ll hear from Celene Ibrahim-Lizzio about a new training program for the next generation of interfaith leaders. And Jack and Rabbi Elliot Dorff will reflect on NASA’s mission to Pluto and our spiritual connection to the stars. Finally, Jack leaves us with some thoughts about the American flag and the historical role of religion in American public life. Faith in Times of Tragedy When tragedy struck Chattanooga, Tennessee this week, too many of us had still not healed from last month’s tragic shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Miraculously, though, the struggle to move forward has manifested itself not in hatred, blame, or anger, but, instead, in a new sense of community and support. We have taken the Confederate battle flag down from the South Carolina statehouse and approached the discussion of racism across the country with new, more understanding, eyes. Today the Director of PICO Network’s LiveFree Campaign and pastor of “The Way” Christian Center in West Berkeley, CA, Pastor Mike McBride, joins us to discuss PICO’s activism since Charleston, the meaning of activism, and how to bring faith-based messages to more secular communities. The Necessity and Future of Diversity in Belief Exciting interfaith initiatives have sprung up all over the world as we grow to more fully respect the diverse beliefs in our global community. Nowhere is this newfound necessity more clearly understood than in programming at Newton Andover Theological Seminary and Hebrew College in Boston, Massachusetts. We’re joined today by Islamic Scholar-in-Residence, Celene Ibrahim-Lizzio, to talk about the history of collaboration between these two institutions, and a new interreligious leadership degree program that seeks to meet the need for a new generation of interfaith community. How and Why We Decide Who and What to Believe In This week marked an exciting discovery as NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft became the first mission to reach the dwarf planet, Pluto. In light of this new innovation in the scientific community, we ask ourselves what it is about the sky and stars that inspires so much belief and questioning. We’re joined by Rabbi Elliot Dorff, professor of Jewish Theology at the American Jewish University, to ask what we really are looking for when we look up to the sky, the celestial aspects of Jewish teaching, and the relevance of new space discoveries to faith leaders and scholars. American Christianity: Our State Culture, If Not Religion In the final part of our show, we will reflect on Christianity in America. Though it is officially stated that, “the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,” there is no denying the presence of a Christian culture in American society. However, how does that change when America’s openness towards new definitions of equality, freedom, and accessibility translate into openness towards new, diverse sets of faith in our culture? Rabbi Moline will discuss Christian culture in America’s history and why it is so important to celebrate the diversity of faith in American society.

With just 4 weeks until Election Day, Dennis Prager turned to legendary conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer. Hewitt and WaPo's Chris Cilizza handicap the election. Michael Medved with Mike Lee and Marco Rubio discuss their simplified U.S. tax plan proposal. Bill Bennett asked Islamic Scholar, Timothy Furnish whether beheading was sanctioned by Islam as written in the Koran.
