À Rio de Janeiro, une belle initiative apporte la magie de Noël aux favelas, là où les familles n'ont pas toujours les moyens de se rendre dans les centres commerciaux pour rencontrer le père Noël et prendre une photo (payante) avec lui. À travers une caravane qui parcourt 23 quartiers populaires, petits et grands peuvent prendre une photo gratuite avec le père Noël. C'est un luxe pour ces habitants, car, pour avoir un tel cliché très prisé par les enfants, ils doivent normalement débourser autour de 10 euros et se rendre dans un centre commercial.Pour beaucoup d'enfants, comme Giovana, 10 ans, c'est donc la première fois qu'ils croisent le père Noël, ce qui apporte un moment de joie simple, mais précieux. À l'origine de cette initiative se trouve Raull Santiago.Ce projet va au-delà des enfants, touchant aussi les adultes comme Inès Pereira, 67 ans, qui rencontre pour la première fois le père Noël après 25 ans passés dans la favela. Le bon déroulement de cette opération nécessite une organisation rigoureuse pour assurer la sécurité et la logistique dans des zones souvent marquées par des tensions entre factions. La caravane collabore étroitement avec les habitants et leaders locaux pour garantir que chaque visite se déroule sans encombre.Carlos Brandão, qui incarne le père Noël, partage des moments de bonheur et d'émotion intense avec les habitants. Originaire lui-même d'une favela, il comprend les réalités de ces quartiers. Entre la chaleur écrasante et les demandes bouleversantes, comme celle d'une petite fille souhaitant voir son frère quitter le trafic de drogue, Carlos s'investit pleinement dans son rôle. De son côté, Gazette Haïti met en avant le message de Leslie Voltaire, président du Conseil présidentiel de transition, qui assure que cet acte ne restera pas impuni. Ce qui devait être un coup de communication pour le ministre de la Santé publique et de la Population – la réouverture de l'hôpital vandalisé au début de l'année par le gang Izo – s'est transformé en drame. Un drame qui, souligne Le Nouvelliste, met en lumière l'emprise des gangs sur une zone voisine du palais national.Les médias haïtiens rapportent que plusieurs journalistes, cherchant à se mettre à l'abri, ont été blessés par balles. Leurs collègues ont tenté, en vain, de trouver des infirmières. L'évacuation des blessés vers l'hôpital a été retardée en raison d'affrontements entre la police et les membres du gang.Dans les colonnes du Miami Herald, un journaliste attribue la responsabilité de l'incident au gouvernement haïtien. Il estime que cette attaque reflète un problème plus vaste, où les journalistes sont pris pour cible à la fois par la police et par les gangs.
