This week on the podcast, we are joined by writer Albertina Rizzo who you might know from her work on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and a little show called "I Love That For You" starring one of our hosts! Together we take a deep dive into our apple picking experiences, the phenomenon of free fruit growing on trees and what it was like to scavenge 30 Rock for late night snacks. Then we get into our topic, the 2015 viral online phenomenon "The Dress." Was it blue or was it white? Why was it so captivating to people nearly a decade ago? Is there a Facebook group for those of us who lack the ability to decipher optical illusions? Finally we play a round of CHANGE.DORK where we discuss the frustrating nature of self-checkout lanes, the seemingly never ending trend of QR code menus and the pros and cons of a water-flavored Pop Tart. There is a reason this group is introduced as The Legendary, it's because they are in fact legendary. The Roots have one of the best emcees of all time, one of the most incredible drummers to ever pick up sticks, who also happens to be one of the most musically knowledgable human beings to ever exist. Black Thought the emcee and Questlove the drummer went to high school in Philadelphia together and also busked on the street together. They have over the years created one of the only live musician hip hop bands. These two behemoths, with their bandmates, have went on to back musicians of all genres, become the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon band, authors, directors, actors, screenplay writers and so much more. Host Geri Cole is joined by Jen Statsky—co-creator and showrunner of the HBO Max series HACKS—to talk about the show's journey from an idea on a road trip to a hit series, why writing about people's flaws can bring out the best in a character, and the challenges of writing a comedy series about writing comedy. Jen Statsky is a TV writer and comedian who cut her comedy-writing teeth on Twitter. Her posts were popular, and she eventually found herself with enough of a following that, in 2011, the account helped her land her first TV writing job at LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON. Since then, she has written for a number of hit comedies, including BROAD CITY, THE GOOD PLACE, and PARKS & RECREATION (all while maintaining her Twitter account, of course). She currently serves as the showrunner of the comedy-drama series HACKS. The series, which Statsky co-created with Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs, follows legendary stand-up comic Deborah Vance (played by Jean Smart) as she works to maintain relevancy through a reluctant partnership with struggling millennial comedy writer Ava. The show premiered in May 2021, and was recently renewed for a second season. It's available to stream on HBO Max. -- Before it was a podcast, OnWriting was a print publication. If you like “Kahnversations,” please leave a rating or review on our iTunes page!   There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

This chat with Jimmy was part of the magnificent PaleyFest '11, a series of panels comprising cool shows you've heard of. This extended episode covers Fallon's career as a comedy club impressionist all the way up to the recent 2-year anniversary of "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon." He was INCREDIBLY sweet, funny and charming. At the end, there was some delightful audience Q&A. And ice cream. This whole night was BUTTSLOADS of fun. Yes, I said "buttsloads", because it would take multiple butts to contain the fun that was had there on March 11 at the Saban Theater in LA.

A.D. Miles and Michael Blieden from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon talk about their worst flops (baked bean volcano anyone?) and biggest triumphs (clocksucker anyone?) in year one. Plus, Luke's 90 second review of the Super Bowl ads gets way out of hand.

Ligações: Technotronic - Pump Up the Jam Norton - Pump Up the Jam (download) (video) (making of) Gran Torino - o filme - Clint Eastwood e Jamie Cullum - Gran Torino Fame 2009 Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Momento Zen - Robin Williams - Live on Broadway - 2002 Músicas: Technotronics - Pump up The Jam Norton - Pump up the Jam Jammie Cu Don Runner Irene Cara - Fame   ------ Para descarregar este episódio usa a seguinte ligação: .
