Bleibt Breitenreiter dann Trainer in Hannover? Jessic Ngankam?

Hello! This week we have on Musa Al-Gharbi, a professor of sociology at Stony Brook University. We talk a lot about “kids these days” and the tendency for all sorts of reactionaries to blame them for everything that's wrong with this country. Don't like illiberal attitudes on campuses? Blame the kids. Do you think free expression is at risk? Blame the kids. Feel like democracy is on the brink of collapse? Blame the kids. (As always, if you're reading this and not subscribed to our substack or Patreon, please consider supporting the show at goodbye.substack.com. It's just $5 a month and helps us keep it going.) Musa's work is a critical intervention into all this kid blaming and we talk about the actual problem: Adults these days. We also touch on teachers, peer review as gatekeeping, and much more! Here's some info on Musa's upcoming book from Princeton University PRess, which I encourage everyone to pre-order. A piece he wrote outlining the problem with people saying “the kids these days” are responsible for everything that's wrong with the discourse. Referenced in our conversation: Science is a strong-link problem by Adam MastroianniA look at the Polarizing Effect of the March for Science on Attitudes toward Scientists by Matthew MottaA study on the difference between trust in science and trust in scientists by Marcus Mann and Cyrus Schleifer And Musa's recent look at antisemitism in America and a lot of the ways in which it is misunderstood. Enjoy! This is a public episode. If you'd like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit goodbye.substack.com/subscribe
Was?
Was steckt dahinter? In this episode, I got to talk to the newly betrothed, Miss Imani, Marcus Mann from @mixingwithmani podcast. It's been not quite a month, and Mani has finally had time to slow down, catch her breath and reflect on her wedding experience as a whole. We talk bridal party etiquette, wedding guest etiquette, and just how much has changed for Mani and Mya in the last 12 months. Wedding planning will have you feeling like you have been sucked through the tv into a real housewives episode that is playing on loop. Then we couldn't let this episode go by without talking about what else… The Real Housewives of Potomac. We talk about the colorism conversation surrounding Potomac, the hypocrisies that run rampant, and we get into Potomac viewership, and how it seems as if black viewers and non- black viewers may not be watching this show the same. Congratulations to the newly betrothed, Mya and Imani Mann! You can follow Mani and subscribe to the podcast here.Support the show

This week's episode brought to you by Indy Wrestling US, Slice on Broadway, Occupy Pro Wrestling, and Professor Buzzkill! Marcus Mann joins the mayhem this week, which means it's likely we'll be talking very little wrestling and a bunch of John Cena. Thankfully we have Larry, Matt, Rizz, Mad Mike, and Sorg to keep the show rolling as we discuss: We have Marcus Mann on the show - the guy who hasn't watched wrestling since September? Welcome to the Young Justice episode? Marcus Mann is sharing some thoughts on Brock Lesnar and Brock-being-Brock. Anytime Marcus Mann watches a wrestling match, he has some psychology assessments thanks to Shirley Doe. Ronda Rousey and Brock Lesnar are there for particular reasons in WWE. They are in a category of their own. Liking our discussion about intergender wrestling? Join us for our panel. Randy Orton walks a line all the time. This is the time in the show when Marcus Mann tells us how amazing John Cena is. Marcus Mann is not a fan of skinny Cena. With Patreon in the Bank looming, we're looking to see if Marcus Mann can book a MayhemMania match WITHOUT John Cena (if someone uses an eliminator). It's MayhemMania time. We can't wait to see what our crew books this week! What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? In episode 13, BC Steele’s “5 Questions” guest is Jack Pollock. Whether you know him from Team Storm with RC Dupree and Jaxon Argos or Black Hand Society with Marcus Mann, System Elite, and Payton Graham, Jack Pollock is one of the area’s top guys. He also enjoys baseball. Hear that and more. Also check him out on Twitter: http://www.Twitter.com/JPollsBeard You’ll also get Potter Story Time. We talk about ribs.. or ribz with a Z as Potter says. A rib played on Potter (and Justin Idol) and Potter’s revenge. Also we discuss Chris Hamrick ribs and an impromptu rib. The topic of the day is on drugs. It is different from other topics of the day. Why this topic? BC Steele was on the book of face and say some meme that triggered him. Fun Fact: BC Steele is triggered by stupidity.

We couldn't have planned this week's in-studio guest any better if we tried. Marcus Mann joins us on the big purple couch to talk about the road to WrestleMania! He's joined by Rob, Larry, Sorg, Mad Mike, and Mainstream Matt as they talk about: We've got the RYSE Wrestling Head of Talent Relations, Marcus Mann, on the sofa this week! Sorg was in Florida over the weekend, and had a chance to visit the Hulk Hogan shop down there. Marcus Mann is sharing some updates about what they're up to down at RYSE Wrestling. Want to check it out? Head over to www.indywrestling.us We'll be getting to some Fastlane and WrestleMania talk shortly. But first – John Cena has a Road to WrestleMania and Marcus couldn't be happier. John Cena broke RAW. We're breaking down an interesting comparison between John Cena, Hulk Hogan, and Chris Jericho. It's the wrestler's responsibility to take that #1 spot. If someone isn't taking that spot, then it really belongs to the guy at the top. (In this case John Cena.) Vince McMahon will not give anyone a Jr. suffix because he feels it is demeaning. Sorg apparently ran into Paige at an ICP show last week? Fastlane happened this weekend, and we've got a clearer picture about what we'll be seeing at WrestleMania. We found out Marcus Mann is apparently a huge Brock Lesnar fan, in addition to being a John Cena fan…and a Chris Jericho fan… We're taking a trip down memory lane…to Summer Slam 2002. You think Brock Lesnar could kill a person – watch him punch Braun Strowman in the face. He's the closest thing we can get to a Bruiser Brody. Are we setting ourselves up for disappointment by setting our expectations too high for WrestleMania? Thanks to The Bar we can no longer take discussions regarding setting the bar seriously. When ranking WrestleMania events, which one is the “average” by which you should set your expectations by? It's time for MayhemMania! Let's see what havoc we can wreak this week! It's getting near time for Patreon in the Bank. Are you a supporter of the show so you can get in on it https://www.patreon.com/wrestlingmayhemshow What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? Thanks to Tonio Garza (@TheWRevolution) for putting together graphics for MayhemMania. Marcus Mann can't seem to get enough of the mayhem. He made the trek back to the studio to join Sorg, Bobby F J-Town and Mad Mike for this week's episode. We had a lot to chat about, including: 205 Live is going to do house shows starting in January? On paper 205 Live is the best indy show ever. We need to see how it is in reality. Marcus Mann is educating us on the difference of a 205 Live show on TV versus live and how much better high flyers are live. Someone may have just compared Enzo to Eddie Guerrero. Marcus Mann is educating Sorg on Noam Dar and wrestling outside the US. We're reminiscing on that time when Rizz interviewed Pete Dunne. Just because we're not seeing people from CWC and Mae Young Classic popping up yet doesn't mean WWE lost their numbers. Just wait. Did you see DJ Z at a show - - - in a library? Jim Johnston was released from the WWE. We're sharing some thoughts. Since we've got Marcus Mann on the sofa, we're talking about the recent RYSE anniversary show. A Power Point presentation is over on 205 Live. This week's Big Question: Which superstar had the best potential and would have been a bigger WWE star if Vince McMahon hadn't gotten in the way? The one that got away - that don't know they got away. What did YOU learn in wrestling this week? Fan of the show, Brandon Mynatt, will be a participant in the 2018 Special Olympics as part of the Team Missouri Bowling Team. The 1 Step Forward Podcast is hosted by BC Steele. BC Steele is a 15+ year veteran of the wrestling business and a 33+ year veteran of life. Having worked with some of the biggest names in the wrestling business and experiencing great highs and lows (in wrestling and life), it makes for an interesting mix. Hear him talk about pro wrestling, sports, sex, drugs, music, and whatever else comes to mind. BC Steele is one to always speak his mind and entertain. In episode 11, BC Steele’s “5 Questions”guest is Daniel Scifo. Dan is one of BC’s best friends. They met in HS and bonded through pro wrestling. Dan is also the assistant sports editor for the “Latrobe Bulletin”. Dan has covered Stanley Cups, Super Bowls, and more. You can find Dan on Twitter at http://www.Twitter.com/DMScifo You’ll also get Potter Story Time. IYFW memories. In Your Face Wrestling was a company in Weirton, WV in 2000/2001 that Potter and BC would work every week. It was a learning experience and always had a unique cast of characters. While not a IYFW show, the home base for IYFW had one of the most interesting matches with the Spanish Announce Team (Joel and Jose Maximo), The Amazing Red, and Quiet Storm taking on The Backseat Boyz (Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere), Chris Hamrick, and Donnie B. View that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAR9QdbqJyE The topic of the day is “be careful who you talk to” which is essentially an offshoot of another topic. BC doesn’t stay on topic for this but hey, he says words and sentences. You listen. Oh and hopefully the audio is even throughout the podcast. I know sometimes some parts are louder than others. I told my editor Jesse, who is super duper awesome, all about it. Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming. Oh and where I say "RC Dupree" is a future 5 Questions guest, well, ignore that. I switched the guests around. Episode 12 guest is Marcus Mann (episode fully recorded) and episode 13 guest is Jack Pollock (episode mostly recorded) PLUGS: - SAVE money on razor blades at Dollar Shave Club: http://shaved.by/cTkmV - If you like fantasy sports and/or making money check this out: https://goo.gl/YiOu0x Check out these links: BC Steele’s website: http://www.BCSteele.com BC Steele on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/BCSteeleForReal 1 Step Forward Podcast on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/1SFPodcast 1 Step Forward Podcast on Twitter: http:///www.Twitter.com/1SFPodcast Check out the podcast on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/1-step-forward-spiderduck/id1032463253 or http://spiderduck.net/1sf/ Rate and Subscribe!!!
