Kiano was born in Oakland, California, to a Maasai-Kenyan mother and Nigerian father, who both moved to the U.S. in their early adulthood. Inspired by a love for chemistry inherited from her father, a biochemist, Kiano found herself drawn to her mother's side in the kitchen, intrigued by the science of cooking and the culture that surrounds it. Kiano has founded the non-profit organization Jikoni Recipe Archive, which documents the legacy of African and Black cooks, both old-school and new-school, while amplifying and celebrating their vibrant food cultures. It is a culinary beacon for African and Black cuisine that curates the resources to amplify these food identities while preserving them for generations to come.
In a new cookbook, food writer Kiano Moju fuses both Kenyan and Nigerian culinary traditions with Californian culture to create delicious, unique meals. She has recipes for Peri Peri Butter, Kijani Seafood Pilau, Berbere Braised Short Ribs and a Pili Pili Pineapple Margarita. Moju joins us to discuss her upbringing, love of cooking, and some of the dishes featured in her book, AfriCali: Recipes from My Jikoni.

Broj stradale dece u saobraćaju je dokaz koliko je sistem bezbednosti zakazao. U Srbiji je u 2023. godini poginulo 30 maloletnika u saobraćaju. U Srbiji je prosečna kazna za krivično delo ubistva u saobraćaju - godinu dana zatvora. Mi ne primenjujemo nijednu meru prevencije bezbednosti u saobraćaju. Mi imamo presude gde se počinioci puštaju uz nanogice ili uz minimalne kazne zatvora, većinom do dve godine. Ne kažnjava se krivica, ubice delima ne pokazuju kajanje, sistem ne pokazuje volju za odvraćanjem od takvih dela, samim tim ni od krvne osvete. Ovakvom praksom sistem gaji kriminalnu spregu policije, veštaka, upravljača puta, sudova i osiguravajućih kuća. Udruženje traži izmene Krivičnog zakona i ekstremno povećanje kazni, izmenu Zakona o bezbednosti saobraćaja u kom će se primenjivati koncept urbane mobilnosti i promenu Zakona o prekršajima koji će omogućiti video snimke građana kao dokaz za policiju i sud. For me this episode is a special one. The 100th episode. I spent four years at Otherway working closely with Jono and learning as much as I possibly could from him. An approach to brand strategy that is provocative, commercial, to-the-point and delivered with conviction without the fluff, time-wasting or jargon that you can find lurking in other agencies. He hasn't taught me everything but he's taught me a hell of a lot - and I'm lucky to count him among my mentors today. Tara June Winch knows how to tell a story. In 2006 she released her first novel, Swallow the Air. It won a bunch of awards, and was added to the high school curriculum. Years passed.
