World of Warcraft Classic HC. This week, I share a personal story of frustration with the sometimes absurd expectations within the World of Warcraft community. Even with full pre-raid best-in-slot gear, I faced backlash from another tank in a Molten Core raid who demanded even higher-tier equipment. This encounter sheds light on the puzzling demands of players in a game where cooperation should be the key. Also, join me at the Pig and Whistle Inn in Stormwind as I recount the latest happenings in WoW, from taking down the world boss Aggregation of Horror to the CBC time walking bonus event and the exhilarating chaos of the Gravity Lapse brawl. But that's not all! We venture into the realm of WoW: Cater Classic dungeons with a focus on an unexpected drama during a Throne of the Tides run. Think classic players are the epitome of cooperation? Think again. Our conversation touches on the often-overlooked similarities between classic and retail players, and we dive into the divisive Shadowlands conduit system. Could this system have been a game-changer if not shackled by its time-gated renown mechanic? We explore its potential as a dynamic alternative to current talent systems, pondering how Blizzard might have enhanced gameplay with more engaging and switchable benefits. Hope you all enjoy and hope you relate to any of these stories. Yes Blizzard addressed these issues yesterday, but we recorded this on Tuesday. Due to a schedule snafu, we are chatting among ourselves, but that is okay- it is us, we have tons to say. Ok, we'll be digging into news soon, but first let's talk about our Nerdtacular impressions and what we have been doing in and out of game. Mew- FF14, but more on that later. Nerdtacular souvenirs; con crud. Black Temple: Fun blast from the past but not nearly as painful as Molten Core was. You got to see the beginnings of the tank swap mechanic, but it wasn't quite there. Taunt was about useless as a tank, but it was a DPS paradise with many ‘kill it until it is dead' bosses, or at least boss phases. Tet- Nerdtacular was amazing and needs to happen again! I love going to Snowbird, it's very relaxing (when the thermostat behaves) and really enjoying seeing everyone, attending the panels, and playing games. Doing the live podcast this year was definitely a highlight and we'll do one again, next time the opportunity presents itself. Rogue Class Mount and Order Hall Campaign - Done! May just be my favorite story and order hall so far. Hunter is leveling up, just hit 108 about 1/3 rd of the way through Highmountain (Azusa is complete). Working on his engineering while leveling which has been interesting. I like the story bits and the cool items to make. Really enjoyed the fact I can buy the Beastmaster hidden appearance for gold and it's a bow! Running with a Core Hound and Hati right now for companions, and I love, love, love, that you can just have Volley go off on your auto-attacks. Brings back the flavor of Volley without having to manage it. Played a bit more of Secret World Legends, playing on the Dragon side as a Gunslinger (insert fake Mkallah shock here) and really enjoying the story (hey! I found the story!) in the game. MK- TALK ABOUT STUFF Games- Dammit, Mills (resulted in Castlevania), GnG D&D (now am I the note keeper), Return of Thors Thunder on Woden's Day NT- so many good things, coffee with Skky, Rocker, Diji, OLF and rotating guests in the atrium. Hiking, in the snow, in socially acceptable crocs, Marvel Munchkin with the Hordeling (Darth Amber won her first time out) AIE News NOMADS Just a reminder, if you're interested in checking out Rust, Corley has set up a private server for the AIE community. Check out #survival-exploration channel in the AIE Discord. Hearthaholics: A Hearthstone Podcast

Despair not! The Hearthaholics are back! The Molten Core has been unleashed upon us, and Billy, Andres, and Bryan are here to... talk about Runescape? So apparently "Hearthaholics" isn't the most accurate title for these guys, but they did manage to play some Hearthstone this past week, and do their best to feign some measure of expertise. Andres explains how he managed to fill a board with Thaddiuses (or is it Thaddiusi?), Billy unleashes his righteous fury upon Imp Gang Boss' card art, and Bryan is declared the Firelord of Puns. The CtR crew talks WoW with Blizzard’s Lead Game Developer Ion (Watcher) Hazzikostas, and Lead Class Designer Kris Zierhut. Inside, the guys talk garrisons, classes, flying in Draenor, stats, and of course… RAIDING! LFR and mythic raiding starts this week, and according to Hazzikostas, the team feels confident with the tuning of all the different difficulty levels. Both developers go further into tuning and what you can expect at different gear levels for your play style. Expect another round of class balancing before mythic raiding kicks off on Tuesday, as there are some classes and specs that aren’t performing as well as hoped. The guys get into some of the finer details, especially with those classes of some of our vocal community members. They also talk tanks and healers, secondary stats and more. And the CtR guys learn some fun extra things too! After the Molten Core 40 man LFR, will there be another classic raid released in this format? Probably not. There is a chance that Gnomes could be seeing some new race/class combinations in the future, however. And they even talk toys, like Aviana’s Feather! There’s tons of information inside. Enjoy!

After getting a baseline for professions in Warlords of Draenor last week, I'm back just in the very nick of time this week to talk about what to expect in this first week of raiding in Highmaul.  I talk in depth about Enchanting, Alchemy, Cooking, Crafted Epic Gear, and Darkmoon Trinkets - all after covering the big news on the dust buffs, the mine nerfs, and the updating of wowuction to include info on all the new professions.I also give a preview of content to come later this month for the show, including a spreadsheet I've been ironing out that's pre-loaded with all the stuff we can make with professions in Warlords of Draenor.  Full show notes are, of course, available after the break - Enjoy!!Episode 31 of Late Nite With Stede - Show NotesIntroGood evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Episode 31 of the Late Nite With Stede Goldmaking Podcast.  I’m your host, Stede Bonnet - and I want to thank you for listening.  Before we launch into the opening of Highmaul this week, I wanna take a minute to let you know that you can find more Late Nite With Stede on my website - www.LNWS.net - you can also find the show on Stitcher & on iTunes - so if you like the show, be sure to subscribe.   Alright, today is Monday, December 1st.===PODCAST NEWS===-  On the last episode, I spent some time talking about how WoD was shaking out so far.  It seems like it was weeks ago in terms of how much has happened since then.  I’ve had a number of folks asking me what they should be making in order to make gold.  The category pages on The Undermine Journal have yet to be updated, and given the variable nature of cooldown yields on toons - and via work orders - it’s a bit difficult to accurately calculate costs. Not that it’s a big problem at this point since most craftables that use soulbound cooldown reagents are bringing rain on the Auction House, but it’s one of those structural sticking points that may cause TUJ to take awhile in updating its information.  Not to mention that Erorus, the creator of TUJ, now works at Wowhead and is probably pretty busy.Back on topic about the preview of tonight’s topic - I’ll be talking about what you need to know about making stuff now - the first week of raids - and how I think the rest of December is going to shake out in terms of profession markets.===WoW NEWS===We had a few big changes in game this week.  Most notably the buff to disenchanting yields for dust.  It seems like 4 times out of 5, rare items - that’s blues - will now DE into a bunch of dust - like 6-10 or so.  This is causing a major correction in the dust and shard markets as shards become less common and therefore, more expensive - and dust settles down to values where it actually makes sense to start hitting your work orders.Which, a lot of you would think means cheaper crystals - since the work orders are now flowing once again.  And you’d be right on the money - there are a lot more crystals sitting under 600g on my server than there were before this change.  And that’s a market I’ll talk more about a bit later in the show.We also had a nerf to the yield rate from farming ore nodes in your garrison’s mine.  Regular nodes give 2 ore, and rich ones give 4 - sometimes 5.  The result was that - where I used to be running a surplus of ore on my toon with Blacksmithing & Jewelcrafting, using a L2 mine, I’m now running a slight deficit. It seems like a small tuning change, but imagine how that reverberates over tens of thousands of toons on a server.  This is a correction that may take a bit longer to play out.  And I think Blizzard was smart not to use the heavy hand here, because there are other factors that will be coming into play that will naturally nerf the amount of ore on the AH - which I will talk about a bit later.Last bit of news for this past week was that most all of the crafted gear got a 5 ilvl boost to the 3rd upgrade stage - which should help keep them competitive.  Remember that your raid drops have fixed secondary stats, and may not be very useful for some specs.===Goldmaking NEWS===Wowuction has updated the profession pages on its site and the CSV feeds that some of you may be using in your spreadsheets are now correctly populating the item names for the crafted gear.  This makes life so much easier for spreadsheeters and I want to give a tip of the hat to the wowuction folks on a job well done in a short amount of time.Myself, I’ve made a spreadsheet for all of the WoD crafts for every profession - because I have every profession.  It’s given me a distinct advantage.  Every single one of you has asked yourself this past week, “Okay, I have 100 soulbound cooldown mats - what do I make to get gold?”  I know I ask myself that about 10x a day.  And my SS is there to guide me.  I know not everybody has Excel or likes SS’s though - so check out wowuction if you wanna dig around without having to ascend the the spires of geekdom that is Spreadsheeting the WoW AH.  I also know that not everyone who likes using Spreadsheets is good at making them.  I wanna share this with you guys, but I want it to be stable.  And right now, it’s not.  The reason I want it stable is because I don’t enjoy the tech support aspect of releasing spreadsheets.  That’s why I built and released the Sandbox awhile back - to make it easier to make your own, so that I wasn’t answering questions instead of writing show notes :)I realize a lot of folks will be waiting on this, so my plan is to have it released by the end of the year.===AUDIOBLOG===This hands off nicely into a segment I want to start doing each show that’s more about my experience in the game.  As you may know, I do more than make gold in-game.  I lead a  casual raid, I’m an officer in my guild, I’m looking to put together a Challenge Mode group in a month or so, and I’m slowly gearing up for PvP.  I’m not a pro at any of it, but I hold my own and have fun. This week, I managed to get my core six to Garrison level 2 - that’s my main at L100, one alts at L98, and four more alts at L96, now.  The L2 Profession Buildings are a huge help, as they give me more wiggle room for maintaining my alts. Now, 2 of my alts are Blacksmiths, and 2 more have The Forge on their Garrison.  And yet somehow, none of those 4 guys had a Blacksmithing Follower.  So this week, I ran out to Frostfire Ridge real quick and snagged one for each of them after a short quest line.  I’m told it’s not that easy for you Alliance listeners, and I’ll try to follow up on that - but it’s important to be levelling your followers on your alts because once they’re at 100, they’re good for 10-12 Work Order mats a day instead of just 6.Blacksmithing is a priority for me because this week I decked out my main (which is my rogue) with a crafted cape, a Darkmoon Trinket, and a crafted Mainhand dagger - which I’d like to upgrade to max level just as soon as I can.At the same time that I’m managing all this, I’m also trying to help guildmates.  Some are Jewelcrafters who really want top notch enchants, others are Engineers who really want some plate gear.  So I’m trying to make trades when I can to help folks out there.  Then I’ve some who’ve seen just how insanely melee-heavy my raid group is shaping up to be and have voluntarily re-rolled either ranged or healing classes - and I’m trying to help them too.So crafted gear is a bit more than make it and post it for me - but it’s been fun, and I still have plenty of stuff to sell.  I started the expansion with about 275k gold liquid, after rerolling on the new server over the summer and getting my alts to L90 with maxed professions.  Now I’m sitting just over 475k - up about 200k from launch.Which is pretty good when I think about how much I’ve sunk into blueprints and upgrades and stuff - as well as the gold I’ve missed by using a handful of crafts for myself.  With raids opening this week, I expect that train to keep on rolling.A week ago, I made a guild event to hit Molten Core and we had a solid 10 folks show up and Queue, but I guess we weren’t the right classes because we sat in Q for 90 minutes before I ended up calling it.  Over the weekend, I tried again, but made us a premade group using the LFG tool and barked it in Trade and on OpenRaid - we filled in 20 minutes and the Q popped after 10 minutes - which was really not too bad.I also got assigned as the RL in there, so I spent most of my time marking targets and herding folks around while my GM handled banning the inevitable trolls from vent while Zerohour rallied the group to votekick them.  The funny part on that guy was that he got kicked from vent and the instance, but was still in the raid group for a few minutes while I fumbled through console commands to kick him while he wasn’t actually on my instance frames.Moral of the story - and this is what I told the guy - don’t troll the RL’s vent and expect to stay in group.  So after a couple hours, we cleared the raid, I got personally thanked for leading by a handful of folks, which was nice, grabbed that ridiculous helm, which was quickly mogged back to my Gold CM gear from the last expansion, and snagged the mount.  As I left the instance, I gave myself a pat on the back for navigating the Queue and the group as well as anyone could expect, and vowed never again to return to - close your ears kids - such a colossal clusterfuck just to have a chance at looting the pet.No, for that amount of time, I’ll buy it off the AH.  That’s why we make gold, ladies and gents - to spend it on grindy crap we really want but don’t have time to deal with.  Well - I have the time - but the rest of this expansion is just made so much better that I’d rather spend it doing those other things.Which brings me to Ashran - if you guys can just bear with my ranting for another minute or two.  Ashran was a steamroll at launch so Blizzard added in some kind of load-balancing.  I thought - this was gonna be like Tol Barad - where you’d just get put in a Queue for 10-15 minutes, max, until the other team got enough folks that you could get in without it being unbalanced.  No, Ashran is a train wreck where folks can sit in Queue for an hour or 2 and never get in.  I’ve no idea what the heck happened because Blizzard can do a better job than this - I know - I’ve seen them do it - ironically, in the most universally reviled expansion, the World PvP zone Q system was better than this.  And that leaves me as a sad panda - because pandas didn’t have a PvP zone - which is effectively where I’m at now.  And I loved Tol Barad, and was really excited for Ashran.  I know they’re still working on it - and I just hope they listen and get it sorted soon.  Blizzard has made a bunch of really awkward steps since launch, but I can say they’re busting their asses to get it right and make it fun.Until then - no Ashran for me.  And those are my personal stars this week - let’s get to talking about what you guys need to know about making gold this week.TOPIC: Making Gold the First Week of HighmaulLast week we talked about what was happening after launch.  This week we turn our focus to the raids that are opening.  In a lot of ways, this is like a content patch - with new raids opening up.  You want to be stockpiling consumables to get ready for the coming onslaught of demand as millions of players smelt their plowshares and mining picks into swords and charge headlong into Highmaul.  My hope is that the content will be challenging. That would help us all as goldmakers, as several professions are focused around crafting gear rather than item enhancements now.  Of course, this would mean that LFR  - which releases later - would become a relevant part of the gearing path - a fact that Blizzard explicitly stated they wanted to avoid, and a concept that I, as a raider, happen to agree with.  But I also want to see craftable epics have some legs, and I know that the first tier of every expansion is usually a doozy.Which is why I’ve to chuckle at the guilds recruiting in Trade chat for “Casual Mythic Raiding”.GearBut let’s talk some more about gear while we’re there.  While my first pieces of crafted gear flew off the shelf at 40 to 45k, we’ve fallen into a 15-30k range over the last week.  If your trade chat is as warped as mine, you’ve no doubt seen the masses crying foul over these prices and predicting with righteous indignation the coming freefall once raids open.I don’t think that’s gonna happen.  As Zerohour said to me - once raids open, folks are gonna start to lose track of their Garrisons and focus on raiding on their mains instead.  Just like the farms in MoP - eventually people get bored or find other things to spend their time on and they just - move on.I expect us to soon get to the point where the big money market shifts to the upgrade tokens - and if you’ve listened to the shows I did before launch, then you’ve heard me say this - make base-level items on your toons with the building, but not the profession - and make the tokens on your toons that have the profession. This is another reason why it’s important to get those alts up to L100 - to unlock L3 of your Garrison and be able to build that 3rd Small Building.  You’ll notice that the biggest limiting reagent for these upgrade tokens is, as I predicted, the Savage Bloods.  With a L100 follower assigned to my L3 Barn, I’m averaging just over 1 per day from trapping.  Which isn’t bad; but it isn’t great either. You’re probably gonna want to try to keep up with your alts’ garden and mine - just to build up a stock of Primal Spirits to trade for the bloods.  Of course, there’s always the AH, but you have to use your judgement there as to whether or not you can make a profit.  This is an entirely new market. In all, I think crafted gear will actually see a boost in the next few weeks - if not necessarily in pricing, then in velocity.  Raids should show folks just how unprepared they are and encourage them to seek upgrades wherever they can find them.  And no place is more convenient, and guaranteed, than the AH.EnhancementsOf course, with each new piece of gear there’s potential that it will need to be gemmed or enchanted.  Jewelcrafting seems to be in a bit of a bad way in terms of gems.  Many lesser gems are flooded because they can be crafted until max skill - and the mats are cheap, and most don’t include Taladite Crystals - the soulbound cooldown material.  So folks powerlevelling JC to boost their CD mat production on the cheap have really done a number on that market. The greater gems just don’t seem to be moving for me, but I only have the mastery cut.  And I may be pricing myself too high.  When a lesser gem goes for 50g - tops - and gives +35 to a stat versus a greater gem that give +50 - how much more can we expect folks to pay?  Don’t forget that the Sorcerous Air alone jack the cost up by 4-10x of the lessers.  On top of that, the Taladite Crystals required are just half of what it’s cost to make a piece of ilvl 640 jewelry. So the tuning on this just feels weirder than seeing Pee-Wee Herman back on TV.  And while I’m in that market and hopeful - the reality is that it’s just a way to diversify because all the leftover JCs from MoP are posting a lot of jewelry. And Jewelry is hot.  Mainly for healers who are looking for Spirit.  We haven’t heard the wailing and gnashing of gums that we had in early Cataclysm over the lack of mp5, but I’m sure Spirit is gonna be in much higher demand once we get into raids.Enchanting is red hot.  Folks are damn proud of their ilvl 680 rings and want the best enchants on em.  And what good is patiently waiting for your BiS stats to roll on a crafted piece of jewelry if you don’t spend another 20% on the enchant?  I’m seeing ring enchants sell like hellacious hotcakes on Christmas in Siberia - the dust buff was just in the nick of time to boost the supply of crystals so I could turn enchanting into my new favorite market - where the main players are the high rollers who aren’t scared to drop 20k on mats in a day and still feel like they’re not hitting it as hard as they should.I’ve yet to sell a weapon enchant, but I’m betting that it’s coming.  My advice - stock up on crystals.  They may drop in price later but for me, the margins are fat enough to eat it.  And if they work like every other enhancement market in the history of this game - the margins will only increase as the competition runs dry of supply.Speaking of supply - I want to address one question I’ve heard while we’re talking about this stuff.  What about all the crystals folks will be DE’ing out of raid?  What - you mean in like two months when they’re not climbing over each other to blow their entire billfold of DKP on it?  I think it’s gonna be awhile before we see that - even longer considering that some groups may opt to use personal loot and I don’t think epics can be DE’d at a buddy’s Garrison.  But keep your eyes open.ConsumablesOf course we can’t talk about raids launching now without talking about consumables.  Thanks to Blizzard’s tuning, we’re seeing most potions cost more than the lesser flasks.  Of course, we also have a bit of a limit on how many greater flasks we can make, but since the Alchemy cooldown material required to make them is NOT soulbound, that restriction is more of a nuisance than a real deterrent. But potions are where I think the money will be.  Because meat just isn’t in the kind of supply that’s necessary and Alchemists are used to focusing on flasks for the lion’s share of their profits.  Of course int pots take fish, not meat and those prices are in the crapper because fishbots. If you’ve been selling pots, then for Pete’s sake - stop.  Wait until raid nights (Tuesday - Thursday in the US) and then gouge all the Johnny-Come-Latelys.  Until then, you ought to treat this as any other patch - stockpile now - don’t sell for 100g now what you can sell for 200g tomorrow. And lastly there’s food.  Fish feasts are, of course, not profitable - because why?  That’s right, because fishbots.  They don’t feed a lot of people anyway and the stats are just +75.  Raiders with a L3 Garden can probably manage to use the food from their fruit tree to get by in a pinch anyhow.  Meat feasts are god-awful expensive and the mats are likely better used for pots.  But - if you can manage to find cheap leftovers of other folks levelling their cooking on the AH, and you’re a max lvl cook yourself - then it may be worth having a look at.Otherwise, cooking is dead.  The L2 Barn killed you, and exclusively produces +100 stat feasts that feed 30 ppl - the max number for a flex raid.  The good news for Goblins is that these are made only via work orders, and as such, there is a daily cap on them.  May God have mercy on the raid that hasn’t stockpiled these in advanced for the shrewd goblin will offer none.  I’d treat these like the old Cobalt Ore or Huge Emeralds - buy em to stock during off-peak times and then reset just before showtime - they’ll sell - especially once we get a couple weeks into raiding and folks burn through their initial stockpile.TrinketsLast - I wanted to take a minute or  two to talk about trinkets.  While crafted weapons start at a mere 630 ilvl, trinkets get to 640.  Many of these are BiS pre-raid barring some lucky warforged socket drop from heroics.  Plus they can be upgraded and have main stats.  For casters, who don’t rely as much on weapon damage, I’d expect that these trinkets may even take some priority over crafted weapons.  But I’m not a simulations guy, so I won’t swear to it.The base-level trinkets are good and they scale decently with their ilvl compared to others.  They’re not BiS overall by a longshot - mostly because they max out at ilvl 670, but that’s not their fault.  Of course making these trinkets is easy since we don’t have to wait for the DMF to come to town to do it - so it’s worth keeping an eye on to snatch the occasional cheap card to build decks.Whether these are more important than weapons isn’t entirely the point though - even if they’re not, they’re still gonna be the second slot that gets upgraded (if not the first) for all classes - assuming they bought a base level one.  So you scribes out there - just remember - ever DMF trinket you sell now is a potential upgrade sale later.Winding DownThat about wraps up thoughts on crafted gear and consumables going into this week.  I’d like to do some in-depth guides to each profession as we move forward, but I’m not yet decided on whether that’s something I’ll just post on the blog or if I’ll do a show on it.  The previews were helpful but I think some contemporary advice would be a lot more useful.I also wanna work on that Spreadsheet that I mentioned at the top of the show, too.  So I figure I’ve got 2 or 3 more shows left in me before Christmas and then I’ll take a break for a couple weeks and start the 2015 season of Late Nite With Stede.  Lots of cool stuff in the Queue to talk about, though - notwithstanding the regular flow of events that gives me more to yak about.===Q&A===Question & AnswerSpecial Thanks:I’d like to give a special thanks to my new listeners and followers on Twitter this week - I don’t wanna embarass you too much, but it’s always great to see fresh faces asking bottom-line questions.OuttroGood luck out there against all those bosses this week.  Don’t overdo it, and remember- if you’re not making gold - Convert to Raid Presents: The podcast for World of Warcraft and other Blizzard Games!

The CtR crew is back for another look at the latest news for raiders in World of Warcraft! Over the last week, the issues of the initial Warlords of Draenor launch have been addressed by Blizzard. Not only did J Allen Brack (Executive Producer and Vice President of Blizzard Entertainment) issue an apology, he topped it with five free days for the players that lived through it. Not only that, but in a press release Blizzard announced that World of Warcraft is back over 10 million subscribers — which may have been one of the big reasons behind the issues in the first place. This week WoW celebrates its 10th Anniversary, and the players get a refresher of that Classic WoW taste. There’s a new PvP zone for a limited time as players can relive their days of glory in Hillsbrad with Southshore vs. Tarren Mill, and something special for raiders. Molten Core has been updated for level 100 players as a 40 man in Raid Finder difficulty. There are no new mechanics, but if you never raided this at level it could prove quite the challenge — especially considering it’s in LFR. While the developers are now doing some nerfs to this content, the guys will give you tips and tricks for the uninitiated. This quick rundown just could save your life (and countless others), so listen up!

After taking launch weekend off to gorge myself on the new expansion, I hop back on the mic to talk about my impressions so far of all the new profession systems.  Have a listen as I talk through the good stuff, the bad stuff and my thoughts of the rest of it all, including Enchanting Work Orders (dude, where's my dust?), jerks posting singles, Trading Posts, and Barns.Full show notes are after the break - enjoy!Episode  of Late Nite With Stede - Show NotesIntroStede (S): Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Episode 30 of the Late Nite With Stede Goldmaking Podcast.  I’m your host, Stede Bonnet - and I want to thank you for listening.  This is my very first show of the new expansion, Warlords of Draenor, and I welcome any new or returning listeners that managed to find the podcast.  I wanna take a minute to let you know that you can find more Late Nite With Stede on my website - www.LNWS.net - you can also find the show on Stitcher & on iTunes - so if you like the show, be sure to subscribe.   Alright, today is Sunday, November 23rd===PODCAST NEWS===-  Last time I talked about planning your launch week.  I focused a lot on the breakpoints in levelling your toons with regards to unlocking the abilities of your Garrison.  This week is gonna cover a lot of ground as I talk about the good, the bad, and the rest of WoD so far.===WoW NEWS===We know that raids don’t open until December 2nd, but this past Friday, Molten Core opened up via LFR as part of WoW’s 10-year anniversary celebration.  Not only are there pets & a mount that players can snag for a limited time, but there’s also an ilvl 640 helm to be looted. So make a mental note - don’t craft ilvl 640 helms to sell on the AH.  The flip side of all this is that players need to have an ilvl of 615 to queue, and the queue / clear is a bit arduous - with most folks taking 2-3 hours to clear the entire instance. This means that consumables, gear, and enchants will get an early boost as folks make an early foray into raiding via LFR to snag the new shinies.Which is fortunate, because - if there’s anything that we’ve learned this week - it’s that demand is dictating prices.===Goldmaking NEWS===Blizzard pulled a 360 in less than 24 hours this week by first taking the axe to personal loot in LFD, and then adding it back in while guaranteeing groups that use it a 630-drop in every pot when you kill the last boss in any heroic dungeon.Expect this to stabilize shard prices a bit as there was an initial glut from questing, followed by a relative void at max level.TOPIC: The Good, The Bad, & The Rest: WoD So FarLast weekend I was so busy playing and trying to follow everything that I literally didn’t have time to do a show.  That could’ve been the case again this weekend, but I’ve made it a point to talk about all the stuff on my mind before I forget it all.  So far, I’ve only a single L100 toon - my main, my rogue.  But my other 5 alts are L96, L94, L94, L95, & L95 so far - and I’m pretty happy with the progress. But enough yakkin - it’s Thanksgiving week in America, and that’s where I’m freezing my ass off right now, so let’s talk Turkey. The GoodLet’s talk about the good stuff in WoD so far:Questing is smooth.  The bonus objectives are very intuitive and rewarding, making rotating alts through rested easier and actually enjoyable.  Treasures follow the same pattern of being rewarding and fun to find.I find that a lot of the systems in play for goldmaking are very linear in how they initially build - while mines and gardens give a quick shot in the arm to your materials stash, they require an honest bit of levelling before they can be unlocked, and the items you’ll later craft follow a similar pattern.WoW is up to over 10 million customers now - I mean subscribers.  That means even more folks who will buy our stuff.  And there’s a solid handful or three of folks to whom gold is nary an object - who’re willing to go to 5 & 6 digits to buy the gear they need - thank god for them. The currency CD system for learning new patterns is awesome because it allows us to enter markets with little competition to maximize our profit potential.  If you’re an engineer with 100 Gearspring Parts, but see that there are 5 other Guns listed on the AH, you can make pets instead.Goldmaking is democratized even further by the current system.  Some folks may see this as encouraging competition - a bad thing.  It’s not.  The reason why it’s not is because 99% of the playerbase are not goldmakers.  And yet they’re making things - things that they may not need as much as other things.  But they want those other things, and they’re willing to trade ---- And since our inventory of the best items is gated, being able to make saavy trades is something that’s certainly worth considering.  This is something that’s common to markets like DMCs, but newer to epic gear. The BadBad stuff of course includes all technical difficulties we’ve encountered over the last week and a half as well as some other things:Wildly fluctuating prices.  If you’ve been watching it, you saw it first happen to ore, then to herbs.  As more and more people unlocked their mine & their garden, we saw the prices cascade downward.  Initially this allowed some opportunities for price resets, but in time, we’ve learned that a L2 Mine can feed a toon with BOTH BS & JC - and a L3 simply builds a surplus. There is no unlimited dump for ore in this expansion, so it just backs up onto the AH.We saw Herbs start to follow a similar, but delayed, trend at the end of this week as more folks hit L96 and unlocked their gardens.  As a result, herb prices have dropped, as well - but not to the same extent as ore. While ore has no market to dump into, herbs still have everything from MoP but shoulder enchants, including glyphs.  On top of that, Jewelcrafting and cooking recipes now even make use of herbs. We’ll probably see herbs level out a bit higher than ore soon.60 pages of ore.  All because some jackass decided to post 200 singles - cratch that, there’s usually a half dozen of these guys.  And spending 3 minutes scanning a single item at this point in the expansion that’s only worth 2g a shot is a waste of time.  It’s a strange game, indeed - as the only winning move is not to play -- how about a nice epic gear market?Easily accessible markets, no matter how often they’re reset, are managing to crash.  This is a prime example of the old saying, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”  Each item in the game, even this early, is worth whatever is purchaser will pay for it.  The hard part is that it’s really tough to know what that number is when we don’t have data on it.Developing a sense for what folks will spend in the absence of data is an artform practiced and often failed at by even the most successful goblins.Pigs get rich, Hogs get slaughtered - don’t overdo it.The RestAll that’s very general.  Personally, I’m now trying to get all my toons to L96 so that I can unlock the Garden and L2 small buildings.  This is important to me because I’ve been waking up before work to hit my Garrisons.  They take around 6 or 7 minutes each, if I’m not also trying to craft items - just gather materials, hit my cooldowns, punch in a few missions, and feed my work orders.  It adds up across six toons, but if I can knock it all out in the morning, it lets my evenings be a bit more relaxed.Problem is that with L1 buildings, I can only Queue up 28 hours of work orders, so if I hit em in the morning one day, and then sleep in on the next day, then I’m missing out on Work Orders.  And that sucks.  So L96 is a big deal just for that - not to mention the help it provides in feeding my Scribe, my Alchemist, and all the Scribe’s Quarters I’ve built. There were some things I’ve been proven wrong about, but the biggest one was the usefulness of extra Enchanter’s studies.  Before I start - I wanna make this point - I stand by my assessment of Enchanting as an awesome profession - even as an awesome profession to have more than 1 of.But if you wanna build an Enchanter’s Study on a toon that is not an Enchanter, then be prepared to lose gold.  As it stands, dust on my server fluctuates between 20 & 30 gold a piece.  That means that feeding a work order costs between 100 & 150 gold.  A day’s worth is 600 - 900 gold, and it gets me about 7 fractured crystals.  Remember it takes 10 of these to make a big crystal.  Meanwhile, I can regularly find big crystals on the AH for under 500g.You may want to run your own math, but for the most part, it’s not worth doing work orders on your Enchanter.  Which means there’s no point in having an enchanter’s study on a non-enchanter.  The recipes, though, take time to unlock, and the Shard->Crystal cooldown is still worth ~500g a day on its own on my server.  So Enchanters rock, but non-Enchanter posers - they suck. All this is due to the fact that we have neither a shuffle nor a downconversion for dust.  The only source of dust is from green drops.  Green drops are a perfectly linear market in terms of their sourcing.  If you grind 10 minutes and get 2 greens, you can expect that in 30 minutes, you’ll have 6.  There are no bonus rewards for the first 5 minutes of every day like there are for ore in your Mine and Herbs in your Garden.  It’s play to pay, all the way.I will say, that my gut tells me that high level enchanters seem to get a larger yield for dust when disenchanting, but don’t go quoting me on it.My advice is to sell your dust and use the gold to buy crystals when your market looks like mine.  As Zerodamus tells us, “If you build it, it will become mandatory.”  Folks will pay whatever to feed their cooldowns - even if they lose gold on it.  Somebody is gonna sell em that overpriced dust - it might as well be you.Switching gears a bit, I can say Herbalism and Mining both had brief moments in the sun, and now have fallen into the shadows as most folks get enough of each from their Garrisons.  Skinning, however, has turned out to be a great profession on my main, as leathers have levelled off at about 20g a shot.  I like to farm around Ogu’Shun in Nagrand because the L100 mobs give a better yield.  But don’t come out there on my server >:|That means Leatherworking as probably the most expensive profession to feed currently as I need 55 Leathers a day to keep up with it - if there’s ever even a couple times that much posted.  That’s good for me that I’m a Skinner / Leatherworker, because it represents a large barrier to entry.Alchemy is in a bit of a bad way.  Potions require fish to make, and many are crashed.  The reason is because people are fish botting on their Garrison - where nobody will report them.  This gives them as many fish as they want.  So my advice is to stay away from fish-based potions like Intellect.  Make sure you buy raw fish or fish flesh to make your own crescent oil, too - because these dweebs are so lazy they don’t even bother. But Alchemy, is overall doing well, despite that noise.  Be sure to keep your eyes open - Greater flasks take Lesser flasks to make, but sometimes it’s cheaper to buy the Lessers off the AH than to make them yourself. The other professions are doing well.  My 3rd buildings have been the Forge and Scribe’s Quarters on my toons, with a Tannery coming down the line.  I had to tear down an Enchanter’s Study on my dual gatherer because it wasn’t doing me any good.I’ve managed to sell a lot of stuff, and I’ve just started making positive profit in the last few days over all the gold I spent setting up - which is a great feeling.  I do wanna talk about Medium buildings though.  Initially I built the Barn on all six of my toons to unlock the L3 plans sooner.  Afterwards, I tore them all down on my 5 alts because I realized it meant I was getting Garrison Resources a lot slower.  I replaced those with Trading Posts on those five guys.  The Trading Post asks for 5 of a certain herb, ore, cloth, etc. for its work orders.  The material it asks for changes each day and each work order yields 30 Garrison Resources.  So I can mail a couple stacks of the mat-du-jour around as I’m hitting my mines & cooldowns and snag 180 extra GR every day that I wanna feed it.  Now, sometimes it’ll ask for something stupid like dust, and I’ll just not feed it that day.And that sucks, but it’s usually a good deal without being unweildy to manage - like if I had, say, 6 lumber mills.I kept the Barn on my main and slogged through treasures and rares to upgrade his Garrison to L3.  I immediately built the Trading Post as my 2nd Medium building and I love it.  It’s a great shot in the arm to my GR collection.  To answer your question, YES - you CAN build an AH on your trading post.  HOWEVER - it’s a slog and a half.  I’m expecting it to take me 3-4 weeks to gather all the necessary drops for it.  You may find that there’s a market for those things (they work a bit like the DMF items in that some drop only from PvP, others only from world zones, others only from raids, others only from dungeons).  I haven’t checked it, but I use a single bank alt atm anyway. My Barn just hit L3 a couple days ago, and it’s still processing the meaty beasts that were queued from back then.  I’ve become pretty good at trapping the elites, but I’ve no idea what the yield rate on the Savage Blood is yet - or what I’ll do with it when I get it.  I feel like the 640 pieces are where it’s at  right now.Which is probably the last thing I wanna talk about.  This weekend, we’re seeing the first crafted pieces hitting the AH.  It’ll be interesting to see how prices react now that everyone can make these shinies, but the margins are THICK, so I’m getting my shots in while I can.  THEN I’ll worry about the upgrade items.  This week will be interesting because we’ll see what happens in those markets.I feel like 6 toons is gonna be all I really wanna deal with in WoD.  They do require a lot of maintenance, but they’re at least manageable and I don’t wanna ruin that.  Full coverage is an absolute boon, especially considering that the unbound crystals and alchemical catalysts really open those professions up a lot.I feel like I’m making great progress and am poised to make good gold for many months to come.  But I didn’t get there by simply sticking to the plan at all costs - there were plenty of miscues, missteps, and adjustments that i had to make.  That’s part of what makes it all so fun.I hope you guys all had a great launch week and, like me, are at least starting to see some bright lights flashing gold coins at you.===Q&A===Question & AnswerSpecial Thanks:I’d like to give a special thanks to Gissa, Zerohour, Medvayne, & Slickrock this week - as well as to all my guildies that listen to the show and chat me up as I’m logging around all my toons.  Half the fun in this for me is having other folks to talk about it with.OuttroS: Hope you make a fortune with your epics this week, and come back next week as we keep yakking about how it’s all playing out.  Until then, just remember, if you’re not making gold - I’ve got a name for you: Customer.

Aprillian and Ashayo discuss another week of playing World of Warcraft, Blizzard's great MMORPG. We start off with a discussion of the Scourge, good or bad?  Fun! What We've Been Doing Aprillian Right after recording, I logged on to my "Scribe" because I had remembered the cooldown and I learned a new minor glyph for warriors.  I'm loving it. Did some HH in Brill and Razor Hill. Sunday night I got caught up with getting everyone around to get the xp in all the pumpkins.  I was alternating summoning alts on the ref and mast account and then getting fps and then doing it again with different pairs and of course getting flight paths Tuesday I got my "new" MacBook Pro.  It's not the newest one, but for $1400 I got 2.5gh, 250 gig hd and 512 vram.  It's big and smoking. Dual boxing with cellular modem is like buttah.  Then I finally solved what I considered the Holy Grail of my Dual Boxing.  I suppose when you are living alone, the sounds of WoW are not an issue.  When Hubby isn't home, I usually have both computers turned on.  When he's home, I put the headphones in one and put the other on silent.  This is okay but sometimes I turn and look and find that one is being attacked and the sound didn't carry over.  Plus on one computer I sometimes have a podcast playing.  I tried cables that would join the two sounds but often I would get an annoying hum.  I solved the problem with a DJ Mixer.  I know it's overkill but both computers are plugged in and cued and it works great. Wed morning ER was down so I logged on to my ally toons on Dunemaul.  Level 6 Dranei Warrior and Nelf Druid.  Perfect opportunity to get them some levels.  We did Azure Watch and Exador and then the nelf hearthed back to the Nelf starting zone and then we ran to Darnassus, so easy, and then caught the boat to Auberdine and then another boat I thought to Menethel harbor, but noo, it took us to SW, how convenient.  Got them to level 10 Wed evening had Auntrillia running around Outland, ran her and Aprillian to Netherstorm and then summoned alts from Rilfire to low level toons.  Love Netherstorm.  Got Squashling from Treat bag on 3 alts. Ran out of soul shards. Aprillian got a quest out of Horseman in Brill is hard, due to cart, easiest is Falconwing Square. Looks like a lost a bit of what I did since Wed, so I'm going forward and try to fill in the gaps later. Saturday night, some lower level toons are finishing up the baskets in Kalimador or Eastern Kingdoms.   I should probably be focusing on finishing it with Aprillian, who dinged 64, Auntrillia who dinged 65 and Rilfire who dinged 63. Downloaded and installed a mod called Multiboxer - but it has a funny side effect, it changes the tool bar to the #2 row. Ashayo Scourge attacks! - Started at 10 mins , down to 2 for disease - Necropolis hovering over towns ; epic "vs undead" gear (tough to tag ; heavy competition!) - Quests at Lights Hope Chapel. New boss in Kara Decided I'd limit working on achievements to just Ashayo. - Jenkins - LBRS - UBRS - Hallows End ; yes, including the 50 G.N.E.R.D kills. - Scholo (Stigg was going for book worm achievement) - Heroic Magisters Terrace ( nice chest peice too ) Jekle and Hiide completed Tricks and Treats of Azeroth (interesting that Blizz include Outland in 'Azeroth') Ashwhack and Asharmin also completed - went from level 36 to 38. Thanks to Aprillian for summons to BE and Netherstorm :) Ran HH so many times I lost track. Have not seen mount drop once! New discoveries - Inn keepers now sell level 70 and 75 food ; better than the old 65 food/drink - High level mobs not chasing as far/long? - Putting out the fire at Falconwing Square is *alot* easier than at Brill or Durotar - Don't need Falconwatch FP to fly Shatt to Thrallmar. Raiding & Instances - Ashield tanked Kara tonight (awesome heals by Shojobeat) Got the Arcanite Ripper (Tenris Murkblood - new boss) Also belt and gloves (was green, to horror of healer) - Jekle tried Mnt Hyjal with BiPs. Almost got 1st boss down - Rage Winterchill. Email Hey Guys... Blade here... As now you both know, I'm in the process of deciding to make the move to Earthen Ring... and full-time school plus work leaves me previous little time to play the game, let alone do anything spiffy like running a guild to any great degree. So I bit the proverbial bullet... plus... as I said to Ashayo earlier in the week... someone's gotta help get Aprillian to 70... and ol' Blade is feeling a little altruistic... To that end... I've spent what time I have had in the game this week both learning and being amazed by the new talent trees (which I will get into shortly) and avoiding the major cities like (and because of) the plague... Happy Hallow's End!  Just don't kill the glowing green cockroaches... First... as per usual... a weird and wacky tip... There's an achievement that is listed under the 'Feats of Strength' for those that had pre-existing toons... I'm not sure if it's visible for newer toons, but I'm told that it's still possible to get this achievement... But it's more about the non-combat pet: The Bloodsail Parrot... See... this one's easy... don't do ANY goblin quests (Ratchet, Booty Bay, Winterspring, etc) and avoid any contact with them... that will leave you at Neutral rep with the Goblins and Hated rep with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. From there (yes, you'll have to be at least level 65 to have a hope of getting this accomplished...) open your reputations tab on your character sheet, click on the Booty Bay rep tab and click 'At War' Now kill the goblins in the towns they're in... the bruisers are worth something like 25 reputation each... any civilians are worth 1 rep each. From Hated, you have to push your way all the way to Friendly... not too far... only about 1080 (or was it 1800?) goblin kills or so... Which is why you almost want to plan this in advance... it's another 1300+ f you have to start from the bottom of Hostile. Note:  this is probably NOT advisable if you want to ever a) be an engineer or b) participate in the Sunday Weekly Fishing Extravaganza... so be SURE your mind is made up... Be aware... the bruisers in Booty Bay can net you, they have rifles for ranged attacks if you get too far away from them and they hit like trucks... they can also knock back and stun on occasion... so you're in for a bit of a fight... probably a suicidal mission for any cloth-wearing players out there... I'm sure it's possible... but I'd be prepared for a little bit harder a time if you aren't on the better side of 'elite'... Also (there's more?) when you become 'Hated' with Booty Bay, a bruiser will spawn when you attack a civilian (so I'm told) making that kill THAT much harder... so be especially cautious when taking down civilians... but at 1 rep each, they probably aren't worth the effort anyway... Assuming you have the patience of a proverbial buddhist and manage through sheer force of will to get your reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers to Friendly, go and talk to "Pretty Boy" Duncan on the beach outside Booty Bay. He'll give you a quest to talk to Fleet Master Firallon who will give you a task of some difficulty... as if this wasn't difficult enough... Oh well... you've made it THIS far... time to go kill Baron Revilgaz and Master Seahorn (the two Booty Bay 'bosses' above the inn - right next to the Horde flightpath) Assuming you are successful, hit the water swimming, head back to the Fleet Master and he'll give you one of the more rare items in the game: the Bloodsail Admiral's Hat. I'm betting that it will be something of a novelty on just about any server you could play on... mostly because most people aren't insane or simply don't have the time it would take to accomplish this goal... But for those that do... they get a nifty red-and white trimmed admiral's hat with a skull-and-crossbones motif... that lets you summon a non-combat pet! The Bloodsail Parrot! On the topic of insanity... I reworked my hunter's talent tree into the new Beast Mastery tree... and it's got to be one of the coolest things I've seen in a while... I beleieve I have heard on more than one occasion the 3.0 patch being referred to affectionately as 'The Hunter Patch'. Some things about the patch are good - Wolftusk's new wasp pet named 'Sikorsky'... and 'Fluffy' the two-headed white Corehound... to add to the stables with my very first-ever pet in the game... Cuddles the (used to be named 'Death Flayer' Durotar scorpid). As a frame of reference, I picked up Death Flayer/Cuddles when the pets all had their own attack speed... he was a rare and valuable pvp one, as he was considered a 'tank' (high high armor) and had poison to stop stealthing rogues... AND had a 1.6 attack speed... faster than some cats (and most other pets) way back then... So be adventurous!  Play with the pet trees... and find a few pets that really suit your style of play... Oh... just one thing... If you DO happen to get yourself a Corehound pet... either outside of or from inside Molten Core.. please please PLEASE dismiss it when you're in a city... there's nothing more irritating than standing at the Auction House and watching your screen shake and tremble as some noob Hunter runs by with his newly acquired Corehound pet... for some reason, the Corehounds shake the ground when they walk... but the T-Rexes don't (and they're easily twice as big)... Ah well... to each their own, I suppose... As always, an awesome podcast guys... Blade
