Special Guest: Linda Tucker Haider's free workbook at https://soulful-awakening.com/free In this riveting episode of The Human Potential Podcast, I sit down with Linda Tucker, a trailblazing leader and the Protectress of Africa's sacred white lions. Her journey from corporate success to becoming a guardian of these rare, symbolic animals began with a life-altering night in the African wilderness. Surrounded by a pride of lions and saved by a mysterious medicine woman known as the "Lion Queen of Timbavati," Linda's perspective on life—and humanity's role in nature—was forever transformed. Breaking Illusions: Humanity as the True Threat Linda recounts how that harrowing experience shattered her former worldview, revealing an uncomfortable truth: humans, not lions, are the real predators. This awakening drove her back to South Africa, where she discovered the white lions—symbols of spiritual evolution and guardians of Earth's heart energy—facing extinction at the hands of trophy hunting and human greed. LionHeartedness: A Call to Fearless Leadership At the core of Linda's mission is the philosophy of "LionHeartedness," defined as: "Fearlessness inspired by love and respect for the natural world, empowering us to transform our human world. It makes us unstoppable." This powerful mindset has shaped her work with the Global White Lion Protection Trust, dedicated to preserving these majestic creatures and their sacred habitat. Exposing the Dark Side of Consumerism and Trophy Hunting Our conversation doesn't shy away from controversy. Linda sheds light on the exploitative practices of trophy hunting—an industry profiting from the destruction of lions and local communities alike. We explore the damaging effects of consumerism and how reconnecting with nature's cycles can heal not only the Earth but also ourselves. The White Lions: Guardians of Earth's Heart Energy As spiritual symbols, white lions hold the key to restoring balance to the planet. Linda urges humanity to move beyond exploitation, embrace humility, and lead from the heart. Her message is urgent: only by aligning with nature's wisdom can we navigate the global crises we face today. This episode is a call to action, challenging you to reconsider humanity's place in the natural world and inspiring you to embody "LionHeartedness" in your own life. Thank you for tuning in to episode 360 of The Everyday Life Balance Show. Today, we're diving deep into something that touches all of us: rest, relaxation, and - yes - stress. We live in a world where constant busyness becomes the norm, but what happens when that busyness turns into imbalance? Even though there are external stressors, stress is also about what's happening inside us. We'll explore how everyday imbalances - like poor sleep, bad diet, or even emotional burnout - can trigger stress. I'll give you practical tools for nurturing rest to bring your body, mind, and spirit back into balance. Let's talk about how to reclaim your peace. The Holistic Benefits of Rest and Relaxation Before we dive into what throws us out of balance, let's start with what balance looks like. It's a life that allows for the 3Rs, rest, renewal, and relaxation. Because with proper rest, everything shifts: our mental clarity and emotions. Let alone our energy levels and physical health. Rest is like a reset button for your entire system. When was the last time you had a proper rest? Unfortunately, with the advent of technology, our mind is constantly active. We check our phones every second for emails, messages, interesting videos we can share, etc. The fact is, your brain loves to rest. Science tells us that when we're well-rested, we think more clearly, we're more creative, and we make better decisions. Rest gives us a cognitive boost. Our brains sort through memories, consolidate learning, and clear out waste during periods of deep rest and sleep. Physical Health: However, rest isn't just for your brain. Your body needs rest to heal. Research shows that good sleep supports a healthy immune system, repairs tissues, and even reduces the risk of chronic illness. Think of it this way: every time you allow yourself to rest, you strengthen your body's ability to heal and thrive. Emotional Wellness: How many of us have felt completely overwhelmed after a bad night's sleep or a stressful week? That's because rest regulates your emotions. When we rest, we reduce cortisol, our stress hormone, and help the nervous system shift into "rest and digest" mode. It calms the body down and releases feel-good hormones like serotonin. It's beautiful how interconnected everything is. Our mental, emotional, and physical health all feed off each other, and rest is at the core of keeping everything in balance. Let's determine What Causes Imbalances That Activate Stress Now, I want to dig deeper into why stress seems to creep into our lives so easily, especially when things feel out of balance. There are many external stressors in life, work, family, finances, relationships. What often goes overlooked are the internal imbalances that can activate stress. Let's talk about some of these common imbalances and how they can trigger stress: 1. Sleep Deprivation: One of the biggest culprits behind stress is a lack of sleep. Sleep is your body's primary way of recharging mentally and physically. Without enough sleep, cortisol levels rise, which keeps you in a constant state of alertness. That's why, when you suffer from sleep deprivation, even small things, like a long email or a traffic jam, can feel overwhelming. Studies show that chronic sleep deprivation increases stress levels and anxiety. It can even lead to mood disorders like depression. 2. Nutritional Imbalances: What we eat directly impacts how we feel, and certain nutritional imbalances can cause our stress response to kick into high gear. Diets high in sugar, processed foods, or caffeine can spike your energy temporarily but then crash it, putting unnecessary strain on your nervous system. Meanwhile, deficiencies in essential nutrients - like magnesium, vitamin D, or B vitamins - increase stress and anxiety levels. Your body is like a finely tuned machine. And it needs the right fuel to function calmly and efficiently. I recommend you speak to a professional dietician or nutritionist to ensure you get these nutrients in your diet or supplementation if necessary. The highest source of vitamin D is the sun. 3. Emotional Burnout: We often think of stress as something that comes from external sources. However, emotional stress like worry, unresolved feelings, overextending yourself for others, or simply not processing emotions, can leave us feeling emotionally depleted. When you don't allow yourself to rest or recharge emotionally, you end up caught in a burnout cycle. This can lead to feelings of overwhelm, irritability, and even physical symptoms like headaches or fatigue. Talking things through with a professional therapist or your best friend is comforting and a great therapy. 4. Lack of Physical Movement: Movement is crucial for releasing stress. Prolonged periods of inactivity - such as sitting at a desk all day or being indoors - can cause our bodies to retain stress. Exercise releases endorphins, those natural mood boosters, and helps flush cortisol out of your system. So when we don't move enough, stress gets "stuck" in the body, contributing to tension and anxiety. 5. Social Disconnection: Here is a common imbalance we don't always consider: disconnection from others can activate stress. Humans are wired for connection. When we don't get enough positive social interaction, whether through friendships, family, or community, we can start to feel isolated, and that isolation can manifest as stress or anxiety. For this reason, spending time with loved ones or engaging in meaningful conversations can calm you down. 6. Unresolved Mental or Emotional Patterns: Sometimes, the imbalances are deep-rooted in our thinking. If you find yourself constantly in a state of 'fight or flight,' it could be due to unprocessed trauma, chronic worry, or an underlying sense of insecurity. These thought patterns trap us in a cycle of stress, even when the outside world seems calm. Practical Tools for Restoring Balance and Reducing Stress So now that we know what can throw us off balance, let's talk about how to rebalance. Here are some heart-centred, practical tools to help you activate rest, calm your nervous system, and restore inner peace. 1. Create a Consistent Sleep Routine: Your body thrives on consistency. Try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule, even on weekends. Create a calming nighttime ritual that signals to your body it's time to unwind, whether it's turning off electronic gadgets, drinking herbal tea, or practising a little meditation. Prioritizing quality sleep is one of the most effective ways to reduce stress and restore balance. 2. Nourish Your Body with Balanced Nutrition: Pay attention to how food affects your energy and mood. Opt for whole, nutrient-dense foods like leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins that provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals. Additionally, be mindful of stimulants like caffeine or sugar, which can trigger spikes in anxiety. Small, nourishing meals throughout the day help keep your blood sugar stable, which directly affects how stressed or calm you feel. Keep your gut healthy. In stressful times, we often feel discomfort in that area. 3. Set Healthy Boundaries for Emotional Balance: Emotional rest is just as important as physical rest. Practise saying "no" when your emotional energy feels stretched. Start small, whether it's declining an invite or asking for more time to complete a task. Protecting your energy helps you avoid emotional burnout and allows time to rest and recharge. Look at a holistic tool like Emotional Freedom Technique (E.F.T). 4. Incorporate Gentle Movement Daily: It doesn't have to be intense. Gentle stretching, yoga, or even a slow walk in nature can do wonders for releasing tension and clearing mental fog. The key is to listen to your body and give it the movement it needs to reset. 5. Prioritize Social Connections: Make time for meaningful connections. Whether it's scheduling regular dates with a friend, calling a family member, or joining a community group, surrounding yourself with positive social support can reduce stress and give you a sense of belonging and calm. 6. Practise Mindful Breathing Techniques: When stress hits, focus on your breath. Deep breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which calms your body. Try this simple breathing exercise: Inhale for four counts, hold for a count of four and exhale for six counts. Repeat for a few minutes and notice how quickly it brings you back into balance. 7. Set healthy boundaries regarding your activities: Find balance in the way you manage your energy. Are there days when you are full of energy and pack everything in? Because you burnt too much energy in one day, you find yourself exhausted the following day. Learn to manage your activities well every week. Closing Thoughts: Remember, beautiful listeners, rest and balance are not a luxury. They are a necessity to thrive with ease. The next time stress tries to throw you off balance, know you have the tools to bring yourself back to a place of peace. Listen to your body, nurture it with rest, and don't be afraid to honour your limits. Your well-being depends on it. Thank you so much for tuning in today. If you found this episode helpful, please share it with someone who might need a little reminder to rest. I am sending you love and peace, and most of all I'm giving you permission to rest, renew and relax. Until next time, take care of yourself. You deserve it.

Brooke McPoyle shares her journey from being a classically trained singer to a golfer and how she discovered the connection between breath, fascia, and the nervous system. She explains how regulating the breath can regulate the nervous system and fascial holding patterns. Brooke emphasizes the importance of slowing down the breath rate to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and reduce stress. She also discusses the role of humming and singing in vibrating the vagus nerve and creating fluidity in the body. Brooke's goal is to find a sequence that allows the body to handle gamma brain waves and optimize brain function. In this conversation, Brooke McPoyle and Jade Teta discuss the connection between brain waves, breath, and fascia. They explore how chronic stress and tension can impact the body and brain waves, and how breathwork and fascia release can help restore balance. They also touch on the concept of gamma brainwave states and how they relate to mystical experiences and personal transformation. Brooke provides resources for self-assessment and offers recommendations for starting the process of regulating the nervous system and releasing stored traumas.TakeawaysRegulating the breath can regulate the nervous system and fascial holding patterns.Slowing down the breath rate activates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces stress.Humming and singing can vibrate the vagus nerve and create fluidity in the body. The goal is to find a sequence that allows the body to handle gamma brain waves and optimize brain function. Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-222 Have you read You Can Heal Your Life? I only understood about every third word, but one big takeaway is: change is possible and you have the power to make it happen. I was sold on the concept, but I needed something a bit more practical to help me in my everyday life. Then I found this book, and everything changed. It set me on the path I am on today. The Women's Comfort Book: A Self-Nurturing Guide for Restoring Balance in Your Life by Jennifer Louden. Fast forward a few decades and I had a major epiphany: authors are people. Ep# 272 - Restoring Balance in Our Lives - An Interview with Healer and Author, Dr. Christopher Macklin We are in for a wild ride everyone. I have an amazing light leader and incredible man by the name of Dr. Christopher Macklin on Empowering Chats today. He is a healer and an author. His most recent book is called “Centering the Mind.” Christopher's book came out in 2019 right before lock down and the pandemic. I remember praying and hoping that people would take this time of lockdown to look within and change their lives. And instead, we came out of this pandemic with more chronic stress and it is now creating havoc. Christopher recognized that the lockdown created so much separation with family, with society and it has divided people greatly. A lot of anger has been created as well. It is apparent the collective energy is affecting all of us. Christopher explains how as individuals and as a collective society we must become aware of the energy we are feeling. We must learn to identify our personal energy as separate from the energy of the collective. Christopher shared a story about his life from 2007 when he went bankrupt and his marriage dissolved. He was living in an apartment and went from having millions of pounds to having nothing. He turned to God and literally said: “Ok God this isn't funny. I worked all my life and now what?” And the answer he received was something along the lines of “Because the time is now.” From there Christopher went on an amazing journey and he discovered his healing gifts, which he has brought to many, many people. Through his life experiences he has learned how we create dis-ease in our bodies by the stress we are living with. And many times we don't address the stress or the negative emotions so they get bottled up and show up as dis-ease. Christopher and I had a truly magical connection and a very powerful chat. He conducts 2 free global healing meditations weekly as well as his one-on-one healing sessions. All are welcome to participate in the new protocol to remove health challenges, anxiety, Lyme/Morgellons/AIDS/HIV and experience Christopher's work. Instead of seeking an even split between work and life, I think of it as work-life integration. It's about finding a flow where work and life complement each other and create a more fluid experience. Before we dive into the struggles, I recommend taking my work-life assessment. You an find it here:It's a quick questionnaire that will generate custom results and provide tools to create more balance in your life. 15 real-life struggles and their solutions for work-life balance. The first struggle is difficulty disconnecting from work, even when you're off the clock. To address this, create a vision for yourself and set boundaries to mentally and physically disconnect from work when you're not working. The second struggle is feeling overwhelmed by a heavy workload. To tackle this, prioritize your tasks and simplify your to-do list. Avoid procrastination, as it leads to an unsustainable cycle of building up work. The third struggle is struggling to prioritize competing demands on time. Communicate with others to renegotiate deadlines and seek support when needed. Changing deadlines can help you focus on one task at a time and avoid spreading yourself too thin. The fourth struggle is feeling guilty about taking time off or delegating tasks. Shift your mindset and recognize that taking time off and asking for support benefits your well-being and productivity. Remember that you have control over your boundaries. Seek coaching or support to help you navigate these challenges and discover alternative perspectives. The sixth struggle is working long hours or sacrificing personal time to meet deadlines. Often, we don't need to work as much as we think to achieve our desired outcomes. The seventh struggle is the lack of support from supervisors or colleagues for work-life balance initiatives. It's important to align yourself with individuals who understand and value work-life balance. Identify your values and vision to ensure you're in an environment that supports your goals. The eighth struggle is feeling like work is taking over life and leaving little time for personal interests or hobbies. For the longest time, I believed that the whole idea of living a balanced life where your entire day is compartmentalized was total nonsense. Speaking from personal experience, I knew that no matter how hard you tried to stay on course, life would always get in the way and alter your routine. I was convinced that balance was an illusion until I realized that my understanding of balance and freedom were incorrect. To expand on that, today I am inviting back someone who you have seen here before on ‘On This Walk'. Matt Hogan has an endless fascination and devotion to the path of self-mastery in living an aligned life. His own personal journey of mastering his life through a growing connection with his own inner teacher and guidance has forged the foundation for what inspires and propels him. I am hoping that it will inspire you and many others as well. In This Episode (10:17) – Matt's perspective on balance based on his journey and experience. (13:57) – Matt's misguided relationship with balance prior to mastering it. (24:46) – Striking the right balance between being and doing. (32:32) – Identifying forces within that create less balance. (35:07) – Seeking answers from the body and the heart. (41:21) – Matt's take on stability as the inner path to balance and peace. (44:17) – Recognizing inner structures and its connection with stability. (47:45) – On making major shifts in orientation to life and its impact. (58:16) – Restoring Balance, a program to make life more aligned and at peace. (59:28) – How to tell when life is in balance or not. Notable Quotes “This is then finding that balance between being and doing, which I also didn't have a great understanding of because I was always so active. And so there was never space to just simply be and then allow whatever needed to unfold, to unfold. Or when you can be in that spaciousness and content to just be in that spaciousness. You can begin to connect to things that are more deeply aligned because you're seeing and feeling them beneath all the mind chatter, beneath the need to be doing, beneath the need to answer other people about what you're doing. And you connect to these more authentic answers and insights or directions. And then you do, and then you take action, then you move something forward and you don't just go for the next 10 years. You move something forward a little bit and then you stop again. And you pause and you be, and you start to more fluidly move through the being and doing until there is a partnership, there is a dance between them that works very well.” – Luke (22:36) My first orientation to life when I was 18 was that life was scary. It was scary to be alive than to be dead. I literally oriented through life that everyone was out to get me. I was weak. I was powerless. And there was nothing I could do to change it. Over time, going through university and all the different material expressions of my life, university, being engaged, corporate life, all those things, my internal experience and my self-concept started to shift. The essence though that has pulled me these past two decades when I really started to look at it differently was that I was about rising up and overcoming pain but when I really stop to look at it, there is another lens that works too. All this time I have been remembering how to love myself. I've been remembering how to love life. I've been remembering how to enjoy life. To love other people. To have other people love me. To enjoy my time here. To find magic in the moment. To really being able to wake up and go, ‘Damn I'm happy to be alive.'” – Matt (49:11) Resources & Links On This Walk https://www.facebook.com/dlukeiorio https://www.linkedin.com/in/lukeiorio/ https://instagram.com/dlukeiorio https://instagram.com/onthiswalkshow Matt Hogan https://www.linkedin.com/in/matt-hogan-44b5b869/ https://www.facebook.com/Theworldwidefearconversation/ https://matthoganworldwide.medium.com/
