I sat down with Frey Chu (https://x.com/freychu), who started by building profitable directory websites and later began teaching others how to do the same. We talked about how he went from flipping items at flea markets to pulling in up to $3,000/month in passive income from sites he barely touches. He broke down his process for finding untapped SEO opportunities, how he uses Ahrefs and Reddit for research, and shared a realistic approach to building simple, mostly passive websites that can steadily bring in income over time. Timestamps below. She notes that global small and mid-cap stocks are in bear-market territory, pricing in a recession and the impacts of inflation and more. pricing in recession. "The times when everybody is running for the doors, that is when you want to go in," Horneman says. She's not racing into the market and urges patience, but she believes investors can be aggressive now and be happy long-term with the results. In this episode of A View From Afar political scientist Paul Buchanan and host Selwyn Manning analyse how conflicts are expanding, arguably with warring sides taking an opportunity to take as much territory, while a ‘Lame-Duck Window’ exists in the United States. https://eveningreport.nz/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/AVFA_S05_E13.m4a For example; In Syria, opposition-baked forces have taken Aleppo city and other strategic centres in an attempt to remove Syria’s authoritarian leader Assad. Assad’s forces are resisting on the ground while Russian air forces attacked the opposition force’s positions. Israel announced it may strike Syria government munitions sites in a move to ensure opposition forces do not take possession of such weaponry. Meanwhile, fighting has intensified on the Ukraine-Russia frontlines after: North Korea deployed a 10,000-strong assistance force to the Kursk region; Outgoing US President Joe Biden authorised Ukraine to fire ATTACM missiles deep into Russia; Ukraine indeed fired ATTACMs into the Russian motherland and has increased its drone attacks on military targets in cities once regarded as safe from attack. Also, and significantly, Russia fired into Dnipro City in Ukraine a hypersonic “experimental” Medium-Range-Ballistic-Missile – and followed up with the biggest barrage of drone and missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure since the conflict began. So-called “red-lines” have been crossed and all sides appear determined to take as much territory as possible before US President-Elect Donald Trump is sworn into office in January. Paul and Selwyn assess what we can expect to witness in the next two months, how other state actors are being drawn into conflict, and what objectives are driving warring sides at flashpoints around the world. An in-depth examination of the regulatory, entrepreneurial, and organizational factors contributing to the expansion and transformation of China's supplemental education industry. Like many parents in the United States, parents in China, increasingly concerned with their children's academic performance, are turning to for-profit tutoring businesses to help their children get ahead in school. China's supplemental education industry is now the world's largest and most vibrant for-profit education market, and we can see its influence on the US higher education system: more than 70% of Chinese students studying in American universities have taken test preparation classes for overseas standardized tests. The Fruits of Opportunism: Noncompliance and the Evolution of China's Supplemental Education Industry (U Chicago Press, 2022) offers a much-needed thorough investigation into this industry. This book examines how opportunistic organizations thrived in an ambiguous policy environment and how they catalyzed organizational and institutional changes in this industry. A former insider in China's Education Industry, sociologist Le Lin shows how and why this industry evolved to become a for-profit one dominated by private, formal, nationally operating, and globally financed corporations, despite restrictions the Chinese state placed on the industry. Looking closely at the opportunistic organizations that were founded by marginal entrepreneurs and quickly came to dominate the market, Lin finds that as their non-compliant practices spread across the industry, these opportunistic organizations pushed privatization and marketization from below. The case of China's Education Industry laid out in The Fruits of Opportunism illustrates that while opportunism leaves destruction in its wake, it can also drive the formation and evolution of a market. Professor Le Lin's research centers on organizations, political economy, economic sociology and social stratification, especially where these areas intersect with education and healthcare in China, the U.S. and in a transnational context. His most recent book The Fruits of Opportunism: Noncompliance and the Evolution of China's Supplemental Education Industry, was published by the University of Chicago Press won the Honorable Mention of the Asia/Transnational Book Award, American Sociological Association (ASA) in 2023. His articles and research have also appeared in journals such as Socio-Economic Review, Higher Education and Global Perspectives, and has won awards from the American Sociological Association and the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics. I begin by reacting to this video: Trump Assassination Attempt Aftermath with Bill O'Reilly & Jon Stewart, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZjyRKy6QSM Opportunist is a cheap putdown. Life that does not seize on opportunities goes extinct. Pursuing your interests at the price of your self-respect, your ties, and your reputation is no opportunity. It is self-destruction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opportunism Opportunism is the practice of taking advantage of circumstances – with little regard for principles or with what the consequences are for others. Opportunist actions are expedient actions guided primarily by self-interested motives. The term can be applied to individual humans and living organisms, groups, organizations, styles, behaviors, and trends. Opportunism or "opportunistic behaviour" is an important concept in such fields of study as biology, transaction cost economics, game theory, ethics, psychology, sociology and politics. https://odysee.com/@LukeFordLive, https://rumble.com/lukeford, https://dlive.tv/lukefordlivestreams Superchat: https://entropystream.live/app/lukefordlive Bitchute: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/lukeford/ Soundcloud MP3s: https://soundcloud.com/luke-ford-666431593 Code of Conduct: https://lukeford.net/blog/?p=125692 http://lukeford.net Email me: lukeisback@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter.com/lukeford, Best videos: https://lukeford.net/blog/?p=143746 Support the show | https://www.streamlabs.com/lukeford, https://patreon.com/lukeford, https://PayPal.Me/lukeisback Facebook: http://facebook.com/lukecford Book an online Alexander Technique lesson with Luke: https://alexander90210.com Feel free to clip my videos. MLK's legacy is complex, and it is important to acknowledge both his accomplishments and the controversies surrounding his life. The commercialization of MLK Day and other holidays can undermine their true meaning and perpetuate tokenism and opportunism. Wei Li, global chief investment strategist at BlackRock, makes it clear that she doesn't feel her firm's outlook for 2024 is "optimistic." Amid significant macroeconomic risks, Li says there are selective opportunities for investors who are willing to take the chance to put money to work, particularly in parts of the market that remain reasonable values -- notably artificial intelligence and big tenchology, which she expects to continue their strong performance from 2023 -- while avoiding parts of the market that are "priced for perfection" after the market's rally late in 2023. Also on the show, David Trainer at New Constructs puts Carvana back in "The Danger Zone," noting that the company remains a "zombie stock" -- one he expects could go to zero -- despite a strong bounceback in performance in 2023. In the Market Call, Simon Lack, managing partner at SL Advisors -- which oversees the American Energy Independence Index -- talks energy stocks, particularly midstream energy infrastructure stocks and the chance they represent to generate consistent gains now.

Join Mike Taber, David McNally, Anne McShane, & Tom Alter for a discussion about the Second International's strengths, weaknesses, & legacy. This event took place on October 26, 2023. At its height, the Second (Socialist) International (1889-1914) represented the majority of organized workers in the world, with the stated revolutionary aim of overthrowing capitalism. Several of Its major campaigns and initiatives—such as the eight-hour day, May Day, and International Women's Day—remain today as testaments to its lasting influence. To mark the release of Reform, Revolution, and Opportunism—a collection of debates at congresses of the Second International—join editor Mike Taber, along with David McNally, Anne McShane, and Tom Alter, for a discussion about the Second International's strengths, weaknesses, contradictions, and legacy. The speakers will draw out the relevance of socialist debates from more than a century ago on topics that remain deeply contested: militarism and war, immigration, colonialism and imperialism, women's rights, and socialist participation in government. ———————————— Get a copy of Reform, Revolution, Opportunism: https://www.haymarketbooks.org/books/... ———————————— Speakers: Mike Taber has edited and prepared a number of books related to the history of revolutionary and working-class movements—from collections of documents of the Communist International under Lenin to works by James P. We've spent a lot of time covering Joe and Hunter Biden's involvement in Ukraine—but that's not the only country in which the Bidens tag-teamed to engage in business that benefited their family.   There's been an ongoing and repeated pattern of Hunter following his father into various countries where Joe Biden was conducting foreign policy business. China, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Romania. Mexico even makes it onto the list. And there's been one particular characteristic that all of these countries seem to have in common—high levels of corruption.   A pattern of opportunism also emerges. Although there's some overlap, the Bidens have a tendency to move into a new country just as their operations in another country begin to wrap up.   Although sometimes, as they did with China, the Bidens circle back. But it appears the Bidens were always on the lookout for new areas in which to do business. New areas—populated by corrupt oligarchs—in which Hunter could leverage his father's name and foreign-policy influence.   ⭕️ Watch in-depth videos based on Truth & Tradition at Epoch TV

Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer is the rarest of things: a summer blockbuster that is super-smart and repays close analysis. Two weeks ago, this podcast teamed up with Jewish Currents writers and editors Mari Cohen, David Klion, and Raphael Magarik to talk about the way the film portrays the 20th century left. But there is more to be said about the movie. Frequent Time of Monsters contributor, Doug Bell had some bones to pick with the the film. In particular, he feels it slighted the way Oppenheimer compromised with the anti-communist witch-hunters who tried to destroy his career. Was Oppenheimer a martyr or an opportunist? To take up the movie and the longer history of anti-communist repression in the United States, Jeet Heer talks with Doug Bell about the movie and the reality it sometimes fails to do justice.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

What's up! It's episode 85 of Payne Points of Wealth and some days the market goes up, some days the market goes down. Some days interest rates go up, and some days they go down. So what's going on right now? Which way is the market blowing? We're going to talk about what we think is going to happen with the market and the economy. Are we going to go into this recession that more and more economists are talking about? And is inflation done with? Are we going to see peak inflation now or is it going to keep going up the rest of the year? We're going to tell you what we think for the summer and the rest of the year on how to position your portfolio and what we see in the economy ahead. On the Tipping Point today, we're going to talk about your emotions. How do you handle uncertainty? We're going to talk about the right way and the wrong way to handle volatility. Keep your emotions in check, and check it out.  You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... Is the economy actually bad? [1:14] We've already had the recession! [3:52] A lot of tailwinds just waiting to get unleashed [7:19] The Tipping Point [10:09] Fear and panic [10:51] Opportunism [13:17] Numbness [14:25] Anger [15:52] Blissful ignorance [16:27] Hidden Facts of Finance [18:36] One positive catalyst can change everything! Everyone's talking about all the negativity, we have list upon list of what's negative right now. However, look at China, the restrictions are starting to go away, look at inflation, there's a good chance that inflation's going to come down this year. So you get one positive catalyst. Man, oh man, this market could ramp up in a hurry and you don't wanna be on the sidelines, earning nothing in cash, just trying to play catch up later. Like that's not the position you want to be in, right? I mean, you wanna be prepared for the unexpected and the unexpected being positive here, not negative because a lot of this negative news is already priced in the market. Cuz we're talking about it.  This week on the tipping point: Coping with uncertainty We're in a period of extreme turbulence and what we have found at our firm Payne Capital Management, is that when volatility is high and the future unclear, we all cope with uncertainty in different ways. In this episode, we will discuss some of the different emotions or mindsets that we've seen on display over the last couple of months and whether it is helping you or in some cases, hurting your financial independence plan. The first one is fear and panic. Are you allowing yourself to make poor decisions like trying to time the market? It's probably due to these two emotions. Then there is opportunism. We hear people say "I'm going to sit on the sidelines and wait for the market to collapse." But to be able to predict that is impossible.  Another emotion we think a lot of people are feeling right now is despondency or we'll call it numbness. Where maybe you put a lot of money into tech, disruptive technology, or Bitcoin, and now all of a sudden you're down huge. The mindset we're seeing is to sit and wait for it to come back. That can be wrong because we don't know when it's going to rebound. Then there is an emotion that everybody gets at some point, Bob even had this happen to him. You get angry. You know when you lose a lot of money on something and then refuse to buy anymore even if it does well because you are angry about what happened. And lastly is blissful ignorance. If your advisor isn't talking to you about your portfolio and what you should be doing proactively. Don't just hope and pray that they are looking out for your best interest. If they're not talking to you that's not something to be ignorant about. This week's hidden facts of finance Ironically, momentum stocks, which by definition should be the best performers, have been getting hit with the iShare's Edge MSCI USA Momentum Factor ETF declining 20% in 2022. The trend is not your friend! In the third quarter of 2021, the $191,000,000 JP Morgan small cap sustainable leaders fund became, all of a sudden overnight, an ESG or environmentally friendly fund in one year when it lost 184 million in assets. 18 months ago Zoom had a bigger market capitalization than Exxon Mobil but today Exxon is 10 times bigger than Zoom.
