The Sports Port Episode 766 LIVE!
I got a chance to interview Raj Madugula, CTO, Well Fargo on The Ravit Show at Gartner, where we discussed about data architecture and modernization. Here are some key takeaways from our discussion: Optionality and Openness: We explored the importance of optionality and building a data architecture around openness. It's crucial for organizations to have flexibility and adaptability in their data infrastructure to meet evolving needs and integrate new technologies seamlessly. Balancing Legacy and Modernization: We discussed the challenge of balancing the maintenance of existing legacy architecture with the imperative to modernize the data stack. Finding this balance is essential to ensure operational continuity while driving innovation and efficiency through modernization efforts. Addressing Data Challenges: Complex organizations often grapple with various data challenges, ranging from siloed data to lack of standardization and governance. We discussed strategies to remediate these challenges, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing data quality, governance, and collaboration across teams. A big thank you to Raj Madugula for sharing their insights! Stay tuned for more discussions and insights on The Ravit Show. #data #ai #gartnerorlando #starburst #theravitshow

The FBI reported $26.2 Billion dollars lost to Business Email Compromise (BEC) fraud in the past three years.1If defrauding companies was legal, the hackers would be on the cover of Forbes for being innovative.Teams of hackers have invested time, money and resources to trick accounts payable professionals – smart people who are specifically trained not to get tricked – into giving them money. But the hackers are good…ready to pounce on any misstep…and already sitting behind expensive, corporate firewalls. To help stop them, Early Warning Services was formed by seven US-based banks (including Well Fargo) to validate that payments are going to the legitimate recipients and flag suspicious transactions before they occur. Wells Fargo sponsors the event series, and this was the first of four subject matters scheduled for 2019. The content centered around leadership and the itinerary divided the night into two sessions. The first session took a macro look at how effective leaders move the ball forward in their communities. The second session took a micro look at how to make the most significant impact within each person’s own organization. James Amato, the Strategy and Business Development manager of WRAL TechWire, hosted the event to a packed house. The crowd at WRAL-TV’s historic Studio A was comprised of community leaders, CEO’s, serial entrepreneurs, and industry thought leaders. The audience gathered to discuss ways to realize their leadership potential in an increasingly divisive environment fully. This episode of Tech on Tap is an edited recording from the second-panel discussion of the night featuring Katie Gailes, of Wake Tech Community College, as the moderator. Gailes titled her panel discussion: Leadership in the new era, the high tech blessing, and the high tech curse. With that title as the road map, Gailes was joined by Gary Greene and Chris Weatherly, of Greene Resources and WRAL digital solutions respectively. Greene Resources is a high profile recruiting firm that seeks to help companies locate and land high caliber talent. Gary Greene leads Greene Resources as founder and CEO and spoke on his view of leadership and how he engages his employees for long term partnership and mutual benefit. "Leadership is not a position. He can do a full or partial lump sum, and have COLA increases on his payout. Gregory walks through the math and other considerations on how they decided how to best utilize the pension options. There's also some tax issues to keep in mind. Well Fargo has agreed to pay another fine to the CFPB, although seeing as how the CFPB gets to keep half the money, something smells shady. It looks like a business can do shady things and avoid criminal prosecution if they simply pay this agency a kickback. Does it create a conflict of interest that a supposed consumer protection agency stands to gain financially the more consumers are violated? Larry in Picayune calls in to ask Gregory's opinion on how he should start saving money on behalf og his young children. Does he need to invest that money, or just leave it in a regular savings account or what? Gregory talks about having some fun earlier today at Nola Motorsports Park. Our next Gregory Ricks Live is coming up Tuesday, May 8, 6:30pm at Ruth's Chris in Metairie. It is for women only and pairs together great wine, wisdom, and food. Even though he's in his mid 50s, he has no retirement savings, but a new business venture is now pulling in about $15,000 a month. Now that he has the extra income, how does he play catch up? Gregory starts with making sure his business is structured properly, and getting some retirement savings built up through his company plan. Nick calls from Hammond to ask Gregory's opinion on using a life insurance policy as a tax-efficient source of income in retirement. http://www.WinningAtLife.com

This week, we have a bank dork treat for everyone as we are joined by author and historian Eric Rauchway, to talk about his most recent book, "The Moneymakers" and how FDR getting our currency off the gold standard is the gold standard of economic policy. Meanwhile, a bill that would allow the victims of terrorism to sue the states that sponsor such acts has passed the House and is on the way to the president's desk, where it is sure to be vetoed. However, this bill has such broad and bipartisan support that we may be on the verge of a first-ever Congressional override of an Obama veto. How did the White House end up here? We'll lay it out. Finally, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has levied a huge fine on Wells Fargo bank, after it was revealed that thousands of Well Fargo employees were routinely, and purposefully, charging their customers bogus fees. It was a dumb and venal scam that we're all glad was caught out by the CFPB. But can a hefty fine cure a diseased corporate culture? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Advisors Option 22: Managing Collars and More Listener Mail: Listener questions and comments Question from Kevin Duggan: Re: No cost collars with long put LEAPS and short term call writes. How do you manage them when the stock drops? Then the calls. I want to write have little premium since they're now way OTM and, I don't want to lock in a loss by getting assigned at a lower strike than I paid for the stock. So a question for Randy since he has a lot of experience in this area: When it becomes apparent that my client won't be able to recover the premium paid for the put, how do I manage/close the collar without a loss? Details please (fry my brain, I can take it!). Also, the lure of "no cost insurance" gets me the meeting, how do I explain the worst case scenario and still get the order? Thanks. Question from Alan Charles - I am a client of Wells Fargo. After listening to your show, I decided to check out Well Fargo's options offerings. This particular paragraph caught my eye: “Please note: Although options can be used to hedge an existing investment, options can also expose you to potentially significant risks. An investor who purchases options may lose the entire amount committed to the options in a relatively short period of time.” I understand that they have to include disclaimer material, but does that seem like they are essentially saying "do not use these products at any cost." What is your view of Wells Fargo? Are they an options friendly shop or should I take my business elsewhere? Great show! Great network! Nothing else like it on the dial. Question from Sea Biscuit - Hey guys! Digging the Advisors Option program. Just discovered it while listening to Options Boot Camp through you mobile app for android. I heard you guys mention extrinsic value on an early show. I am still not clear on the difference between extrinsic and intrinsic value. I know intrinsic changes with the value of the underlying, but what about extrinsic? Does that also change with the underlying, or can it move without it? Question from Christian - If you buy an option on a company that ends up merging or being bought out with another, what happens to the option you own? Question from Ingraham - Question from the OIC boys Eric and Alan G - You guys travel the world talking to advisors about options. Which firms do you feel are the most options-centric? Question from C. Dutney, Ithaca, NY - How do I find an advisor in my area who is skilled in the topics that you discuss on your program? Is there some database I can access? Does Mr. Swan's firm take individual clients from my area? My account size is in the low six figures. Question from Cat - I want to set up an options trading account for my son (who is 23 years old) and I want him to learn to trade options in a risk-managed way - I do not really want him to know that he can use options for taking stupid risks (he will probably figure that out on his own soon enough). I contacted the customer services people at Firm X to see how an account could be set up to achieve my goals and was told that initially all he could do would be to buy puts and buy calls. Seriously? That's exactly what I do not want him to do. I want him to control his risks better than that and to learn to put on spreads from the get go. Is there any way that my goal can be accomplished?
