The crew chats about the idea of selecting a cricket team, and debates how one can have a meaningful conversation about an inherently unfair process. Should selectors be more transparent about the reasoning behind their choices? Is there a process by which we can judge a good selection? And how can anyone justify the selection of the Indian team when anything less than a victory in a global tournament (or marquee Test series) is deemed a failure? Support 81allout on Ko-Fi Talking Points: How does one have a meaningful debate about selection? Does the selection (or non-selection) of one player have a big impact on results? Will it help us understand the process better if selectors explain the rationale for their choices? What was the cricketing logic behind Vijay Shankar's selection for the 2019 World Cup? What are selectors looking for when they earmark a player as an India prospect? Is there anything that can be termed an 'outrageous selection' ? Does Sarfaraz Khan know why he is not being picked for India? Does it matter? Are selection debates essentially about 'who are the 11 players I like the most'? Pre 2011, should Yuvraj and Raina played more Tests than Badrinath and Rohit? रामचरितमानसमें प्रत्येक सनातनी , प्रतेक भारतीय की अगाध श्रद्धा है | श्री रामचरितमानस का अनुवाद हर भारतीय ही नहीं अनेक विदेशी भाषाओँ में हुआ है |शायद ही कोई भारतीय सनातनी परिवार होगा जिसमे रामचरितमानस ग्रन्थ न हो | आइये आप और हम मिल कर आरम्भ करते हैं श्री रामचरितमानस का पाठ | जय श्री राम | Ramcharitmanas is an epic written by the 15th century poet Goswami Shri Tulsidas ji .Goswami Shri Tulsidas ji mentioned in Ramcharit Manas's Balakand that he started writing the Ramcharit Manas Granth on the day of Ramnavami (Tuesday) Vikram Samvat 1631 (1574 AD) and he completed it on the day of Ram Vivah on Marshish Shuklapaksha of Samvat 1633 (1576 AD). Knowledgeable people and those who have done researches say that it took Goswami Shri Tulsidas ji 2 years 7 months 26 days to finish Shri Ramcharitmanas . The language of this epic is Awadhi which is spoken in most parts of Uttar Pradesh. Tulsidas ji has described the pure, great and vivid character of Lord Shri Ramchandra in Ramcharitmanas. Tulsidas ji has said in the beginning in Ramcharit Manas that the basis of his Katha is Maharishi Valmiki's Ramayana and many popular Ramayanas of other Poets . Although the main character in both the epics is Shri Ram,but the composition and presentation of both the poets is totally different. While Valmiki depicts Shri Ram as only a worldly person in Ramayana, Goswami ji has considered Shri Ram as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Ramcharitmanas. Goswami ji has divided Ramcharitmanas into seven Chapters . The names of these seven Chapters are as follows. 1-Balkand 2-Ayodhya Kand 3- AranyaKand, 4-Kishkindhakand, 5-Sunderkand, 6- LankaKand 7-Uttarkand. According to the number of couplets in Ramcharitmanas, Balakand is the largest and Kishkindhakand is the smallest. Tulsidas ji has made a very beautiful use of language in Ramcharitmanas .Every Sanatani, every Indian has deep faith in Shri Ramcharitmanas. Shri Ramcharitmanas has been translated into many languages. There will hardly be any Indian Sanatani family which does not have the Ramcharitmanas book. Come, you and I together start the recitation of Shri Ramcharitmanas. As the cricketing world went into a collective meltdown following Deepti Sharma's run out of Charlie Dean for backing up too far, we convened to ask the important question - what exactly is the Spirit of Cricket? Is it that peg of Old Monk that makes bad Bollywood cricket movies go down easy? It is the pissy smell you get in the poorly maintained toilets at Indian grounds? Is it the spit that's been permanently banned from ball-shining services? Is it... well... tomato chutney? Find out the answers in Episode 38, where we also take a punt on India's chances at the World Cup, and bid Jhulan Goswami a fond farewell. Steve Waugh the former Australian captain famously said, “You need to treat people equally but at the same time differently.” This might sound paradoxical but he emphasised by saying that having 2 of the world's best bowlers at his disposal he needed to treat Shane Warne differently from the way he led Glen McGrath although both of them were match winners for him. Sourav Ganguly went on record while addressing a group of young leaders that he needed to be a different leader while handling the likes of Yuvraj Singh. He goes saying that being a teenager Yuvi was fond of having fun, attending parties and sipping a drink. He needed to give freedom to him but at the same time had to look after him with an eagle eye. He quotes an incident where in the year 2000 when Champions Trophy was played at Nairobi in Kenya, Yuvi was not to be seen in his room on the evening before an important game against Australia. Instead of reporting the incident to the manager of the team he asked the security guy to take him to few prominent nightclubs where Yuvraj could be hanging around. He found the young boy sipping a drink and dancing around. Sourav patiently asked him when he plans to finish his dinner and brought him back to the hotel. As a captain he told him not to move around from the room since they had a crucial knockout match on hand against the then World Champions the next day. Ganguly checked in Yuvi's room again by 11:00 pm to make sure that he is there in the room. Sourav goes on to say that as a leader he needed to handle players differently and says he never had to bother about preparations or discipline of a player like Rahul Dravid who knew what should be done and what ought not to be done. But he needed to manage the maverick Yuvi differently. He knew that if he had reported to the manager of the team Yuvi would not have found a spot in the playing XI for breach of discipline. Incidentally, Yuvraj scored a match winning 81 to knock the Aussies out of the tournament. That is why I say, “Different Strokes for Different Folks.” Moving away from the sports arena to the bustling corporate world Jack Welch always propagates the practice of treating people differently. You would have to give freedom to a star who is a Can Do & Will Do player and at the same time constantly challenging him/her with a tougher target. If you try to micro manage a star for sure that person would exit your team. Most leaders also suffer from “I” & “J” factor while dealing with a star performer which is insecurity and jealously. The same leader would then cry that he is unable to retain the talent while the fault squarely lies on him for not having given the independence to a star player. A star player needs to be told what is to be done and not how it needs to be done. A solid citizen who is a Can't Do but Will Do guy needs to be coached and the participative leadership style would work. In my initial days of my sales career I had a lot of enthusiasm to perform but never knew how to handle objections and that is when my boss would show to me how I need to handle those objections. A solid citizen would need to be guided on ‘how to do' but the leader needs to bear in mind that today's solid citizen is a tomorrow's star. Wasim Akram always says if Imran Khan had not taken the pain to teach him on how to bowl a Yorker his career would have ended by the year 1985 itself when he was taken to the cleaners in the slog overs. While this style of leadership would work with a solid citizen we would also have to deal with a set of people who neither can do nor would do. They need to be directed and micromanaged to get the results. Finally we would also have a set of people who were yesterday's stars but have turned into liabilities for sheer lack of inspiration or their personal issues. They need to be counselled to ensure that they are either shaped up or shipped out from the system. I have seen reluctance from many leaders in not addressing these people and that is when we would have a situation where you would have bunch of people who Can Do but would not do and more importantly would not let others to do. This is a dangerous virus for any organization. Finally remember the myth of leadership either it is “My Way or Highway” never works. You need to know your people and lead them differently to get the results. Concept of leadership & people management always amazes me and I am sanguine it excites you too. Wishing you an awesome week. Loving you. JVC Sreeram

We begin this episode talking about M.S.Dhoni's retirement and his legacy. We move on to ways in which his captaincy impacted Indian cricket (good and bad) before talking about the good that came out of Chappel's tenure. In the second half of the pod, we discuss some hypothetical, alternate versions of some pivotal moments and how they could've shaped the world game. Among those discussed in this episode are 1.) What if Kaif was given more opportunities as a test batsman than Yuvraj? 2.) What if India had survived the group stages in the 07 WC and been knocked out later? 3.) What if Gibbs had`nt dropped that famous catch (non-catch!)? 4.) What if England were knocked out of the 2015 WC in more conventional fashion rather than a defeat to Bangladesh? 5.) What if Azharuddin's India had won the 96 WC? All this and more on this episode of PCCI! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thepccipod/message

Many people would have walked past the hurt animal, but we were touched by Mr. Yuvraj’s dedication to help the animal.
