It was just over 4 years ago that I started my YouTube Series, "7 Diets in 7 Weeks" and little did I know back then that it would be the catalyst to a change in me that would change my life forever.Through that series I came across the world of fasting and the idea that maybe breakfast wasn't the most important meal of the day just as we had ALL been told it was sicne we were kids. This one idea helped my sister, my mother and many of my clients in my Exercise Physiology Clinic lose weight, feel amazing and take back control of their eating habits to see them happier and healthier than they had been in years.I then went on to write an Amazon best selling book called Start Late, Stay Light, start up an Instagram page, website and YouTube Channel with the title of "The No Breakfast Guy" and finally a podcast show (this one you are listening to right now) that would allow me to post, talk and video about the idea of Fasting, Fat Loss, Fitness and Food. After YEARS of putting out content, for free, EVERY SINGLE DAY and helping thousands of people around the world improve their health, improve their relationship with themselves and the food they eat as well as see the idea of skipping the morning meal lose it's taboo nature, I was then approached by Amazon to come and share that story with their AWS office in Melbourne.I truly had to pinch myself as I stood in the reception waiting area, with that ICONIC Amazon logo behind me as I waited to be introduced to the staff of Amazon employees that would come to listen to my talk that day.Today's podcast is that presentation and while I honestly believe there is content in this talk that will be of value to you, I have mostly put this up as a way to celebrate a moment in time that I am truly proud of FOR MYSELF.I hope you enjoy the episode and if you did and haven't already, please go and give the podcast a quick review and 5 star rating as it would mean the world to me :-)Join the tribe and become a NO BREAKFAST CLUB member today and receive daily workouts sent directly to your email, discounts on products and services and MUCH more planned in the no too distant future. New show, new Patreon! Scott and Rich do a full and thorough in-depth rundown of all the new Patreon tiers and benefits. There's lots to get excited about, so we wanted to make sure everyone was aware of all the cool new perks. Find out more at patreon.com/rpgafteryears Here is a small taste test of some of the benefits: The Aftercast: This is our flagship benefit. Every month we put out one full-length bonus episode. It could be about anything! It’s also the “Aftercast”, so we certainly won’t be as hesitant about letting loose on our REAL opinions. You will see a different side of the hosts in these episodes: raw and unfiltered! Ad-free show: We get it. Ads and promos can be intrusive and interruptive. No more. As a Summon, you will gain access to an exclusive feed that features an ad-free version of the show. Early episode access: Tired of waiting until Thursdays every week for the show? Well, wait no longer! Summons get the episodes at least one day early on Wednesdays! Sometimes even TWO days early on Tuesdays! Recording access/video version: We’ll do it live! We will stream every episode live to Patreon, and as a Party Member, you will have exclusive access. You can even leave your own mark on the show by commenting in the comments section or on Discord, and we may read your feedback live on air! Even if you can’t make it, the video version will remain on Patreon. You can watch the episode as soon as we finish recording! Non-RPG reviews: Thought we only played and reviewed RPGs? Think again! Every time one of us finishes a game, we promise to review it and release it as a bonus episode. Be a co-host: Ever wish you could be on the show and chat with the hosts live? Here’s your chance! Be a patron for at least 3 months and we’ll have you on the show! We can discuss (almost) anything you like! Of course, you don’t have to participate if you’d rather not. Jay's Anime Corner Jay watches a lot of anime. A LOT. We don’t always have room for it in the main show, so Jay and Rich will periodically put out a bonus episode ranting and raving on all the anime they’ve been binging. Party-Planning: Get a behind-the-scenes look at the show! Before we begin recording, we always review the plan for the episode as we hammer down the plan and logistics. However, we often have little side conversations during this, taking us completely off the rails. Annual physical gift: For all patrons that have been with us for at least three months, we will send out a special physical gift annually! It could be exclusive After Years merch, fridge magnets, coasters… Whatever it is, you’ll be sure to love it! Planning doc access: Every week, we create a Google Doc planning out the episode. As soon as it is created, we post the link to the doc. See the show come together and get a preview of what’s coming up! Monthly Raffle: Want some special memorabilia? Once a month, we hold a raffle for all Party Member and above Patrons. You could win games, gift cards, magnets, and other weird shit! And much, much more!! Development: Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light, known as Final Fantasy Gaiden in Japan, is a Role Playing Game developed by Matrix Software and published by Square Enix on October 29, 2009 in Japan, and October 5th, 2010 in the States. You may remember Matrix Software from their IOS ports of Final Fantasy II, IV, V, VI,  After Years, and even Dragon Quest V. This is the second Final Fantasy game to wield the Gaiden, or spinoff title, in Japan; The other being the aforereviewed Final Fantasy Adventure. The game’s directors were Takashi Tokita and Hiroaki Yabuta. Tokita you may remember as the director of Chrono Trigger and Parasite Eve. He also worked as lead designer for Final Fantasy IV. The game was produced by Tomoya Asano, the lead artist was Akihiko Yoshida; Yoshida worked on background art and main character design for the Ivalice games, where Mizuta worked on FFXI with Uematsu, and that god awful Parasite Eve 2. The development team had begun to consider a sequel to this game, and that’s why we’re going to play Bravely Default; which is what that “sequel” eventually became. The entire game was meant to be a throwback to the original titles in the Final Fantasy series, and you can definitely tell. The game featured an interesting storybook style art design, similar to Chocobo’s Tales, and also features a pretty bitchin version of the job system from FF III and V. The development team looked to DQ games, and other popular NES era RPG’s for inspiration as well as previous FF titles.   Plot: The game starts out in the city of Horne with our main hero Brandt. Brandt is presenting himself to the king to enter manhood, and discovers that the Princess, Aire, has been taken by the Witch of the North, named Louhi. Along the way, Brandt meets up with his moody friend Jusqua and the princess’ personal bodyguard, and savior of us all, Yunita. Together they journey to the witche’s house, and eventually slay Louhi. When we trudge back to Horne, we find that the entire town has been turned to stone by some curse, and the king is missing. This is when our little fellowshiop breaks for the time being. Brandt and Yunita try to restore Horne’s villagers, while Jusqua and Aire flee to Liberte, a seafaring town. Brandt and Yunita meet a fellow named Krinjh in a nearby desert, who leads them to the magic kingdom of Guera. The King of Guera asks them to deal with the fucking Sandman, since Spiderman is busy, and you agree. But of course, he annihalates you, because you need water spells and the LEADER ORDERS A FUCKING FREEZE ON WATER SPELL SALES! Anyway, you win the fight, but the sand creature is revealed to be Araidne, who Krinjh runs away with. Aire meets up with a fairy named Lilibelle, and gets turned into a cat. Aire leaves Jusqua’s grumpy ass behind, and finds Brandt, who also left Yunita behind for some reason… Anyway, they head to Arbor forest, where the Queen of the forest turns Brandt into a plant, because she doesn’t trust humans after the events of Ferngully 1, and dare I say 2. Aire then teams up with a mouse named Tortehhhh to find an Animal Staff in order to turn Brandt into a dog, thus making him more trustworthy. But before we get this taken care of, we must defeat Arbaroc; the guardian of Arbor. We knock him out, and the Queen of Arbor turns the Animal Staff into the Transformation Staff, which allows us to go transspecial with a mere three menu clicks. We then first learn of Rolan, who searches for the Dark Towe…. Wait, no. He’s just a dude from Spelvia who may know how to help Horne. The two animals Aire and Brandt climb the great tree of the arbor and leap to the super FF-esque floating island of Spelvia, but Aire is the only one who makes it across. Jusqua finds a regular cat, who he mistakes for Aire somehow, and travels to Urbeth; finding Yunita and a sorcerer who claims to be able to lift the curse from “Aire”. We earn some dough by completing some quests for the locals, and then we find out that the dirty sorcerer was nothing more than a con artist, who promptly escapes to the six teraflop city of Invidia. Jusqua leaves warrior princess Yunita behind and pursues the sorcerer on a boat. He’s soon reunited with Brandt, and learns that Aire was with him the whole time. When our two heroes arrive in Invidia, they meet up with a girl named Rekoteh who helps them get the dragon harp, which allows the party to summon a dragon to fly to Spelvia. Yunita has climbed the tower to the Sky to reach the town, and meets up with Aire as they arrive. We then visit Rolan, who also dislikes humans, and has locked himself away in solitude. Then we get a sweet sequence where Yunita and Aire travel into Rolan’s unconcious mind with the help of the Witch of the Sky to destroy the monsters controlling him. This, however, causes Rolan to ulneash the darkness that was locked away inside him, and warp the very fabric of reality. Ardyn, anyone?? At this point, the heroes search for the Weapons of Light to save the world from the Dark Lord that the ancient hero Rolan defeated and sealed away. In the kingdom of Guera’s past, Krinj is a servant of their past king, who turns out to be Asmodeus, or as Joe and I call him, Assdemon, the demon of lust; and he lusts after your juicy asscheeks, to be sure. Yunita prevents his evil plans from being completed by using the Merkmal, or Merkin, to reveal his true identity, and then the group fights him, gets fucking wrecked, and darkness wins the day. 40 times. Until eventually he doesn’t fuck you over instantly, and you defeat him. Krinjh then rewards you with the Shield of Light, which I actually didn’t take at first, which led me to be lost for about three hours last night. Krinjh eventually becomes king, and makes peace with the nearby nations. In Liberte’s past, and artist is looking to create the most beautiful piece of art ever, and wants to incorporate Lillibelle into it. A bunch of pirates steal the work, and we find out they were being possessed. ONce we free them, we awaken Cetus, an ancient whale, and use him to defeat Leviathan, the demon of envy. Urubeth was once a city of faith, but a recent plague turned it into a commerce town. Thazund, one of the high merchants of the town, has a daughter who has fallen ill to the plague. Jusqua is determined to prevent this, and finds a cure, but we also find out that the town apothecary is causing the plague, and selling the medicine at an absurdly high markup. We reveal him to be Beelzebub, the demon of Gluttony, and rip him apart. For our good deeds, Thauzand gives us the Cape of Light, and Urbeth becomes balanced between commerce, and faith. We then move to Arbor. Torte, once a human rather than the rat we know him as, releases Belphegor, the demon of sloth, or ass to ass, in order to obtain the super OP spell Lux. His punishment is being turned into a mouse, and he is the catalyst for the Arbor Queen’s distaste towards humans. Belphagor attempts to posses Aebaroc to destroy Arbor. Originally, Belphagor wins, but our time warp intervention prevents it. But not before he fucks you over, and over, and over, and over again. With Belfaggot dead, we receive the spell Lux; and my god is it useful. Now we turn to Invidia, home of the Ruskies. We help the daughter of Rekoteh, and journey to the Sun Temple to defeat Mammon, the demon of greed. Once we return to the village, spring finally arrives, and we are awarded with the Armor of Light. We also visit Spelvia in the past, and save Rolan from the darkness. We dive into his soul, and defeat Lucifer himfuckingself, the demon of pride, and free Rolan’s soul. He awards us with the Sword of Light. We finally make it back to Horne, who is suffering a drought. This extreme situation called for extreme measures, and the town voted to ask the witch Louhi for help. This is also, oddly, the day of Aire’s birth. Her father agrees to give her away to break the seal on the legendary black magic. Our defiance of the deal by saving Aire, and killing Louhi, caused the curse in the first place. We eventually use the lamp of truth to question the shitlord king of this place, and find out that he’s Satan, demon of wrath. Brandt’s parrot shows up, and reveals himself as the actual mayor. This is when we find out that we were played in the beginning, and serving evil. The king thanks us, and gives us the overpowered black magic Desolator. Once our for heroe’s have the weapons of light, they use Cletus to enter the Dark World, and not the one from that crap Thor movie, either. We, of fucking course, lose all of our jobs, and have to earn them back by defeating all the douche bosses that the game offered; first and foremost are Assdemon and Belfaggot. This is a very similar idea to FFVIII’s final dungeon, tbh. We then face off against Chaos, who shatters our job creating crystal, and still loses to us. But again, not after making me spend hour after hour journeying to fight him again and again. We then embark on our world tour, returning the sacred weapons. Everything is good to go, and we finally return home.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years takes a strange turn in its back half... a turn that isn't discussed very often because nobody really talks about The After Years. So, join us for the last few chapters of this wildly misguided game.

This week on "State of Wonder," singer Beth Ditto breaks out from her band Gossip, the Slants gets their big day at the Supreme Court, and we look back on Thara Memory's complicated legacy. After Years of Fighting, The Slants Prevail at the Supreme Court - 1:23This week the United States Supreme Court cleared the way for the Portland dance rock band the Slants to register a trademark for its name — something the Patent and Trademark Office had previously rejected, claiming it was derogatory. The Slants argued that their name reclaimed a racist slur, but the case also sets a permissive precedent for how the federal government handles trademarks using offensive language. It's prompted celebration from some groups—such as a well-known Washington football team—that use objectionable terms unironically.Oregon Ballet Theater Centers Women Choreographers at Choreography XX - 6:33It’s not at all rare for major ballet companies to go whole seasons without performing a single work created by a woman. Oregon Ballet Theater set out last year to change that with a new competition called Choreography XX. Of nearly 100 applicants, they chose three women from around the continent to create new works, set them on the company, and premiere them at free performances on June 29 and 30 in Washington Park's Rose Garden Amphitheater. Powerhouse Singer Beth Ditto's New Solo Record: 'Fake Sugar' - 13:37As the singer of the hit garage-turned-dance-rock band Gossip, Beth Ditto rose to international acclaim with the 2006 breakout “Standing in the Way of Control” and broke the record in Germany for the longest-selling hit single with “Heavy Cross.” While touring with the band, she also became a fashion icon for her unique style and unapologetic approach to her weight, posing naked on the covers of magazines, walking in Paris fashion shows, collaborating on a line of MAC cosmetics and even creating her own clothing lines. She also penned a memoir about growing up poor in the south. Now, Ditto is mining those roots in her first full-length solo record, “Fake Sugar.”Playwright E.M. Lewis Stages a Different Kind of 'Gun Show' - 22:14The Oregon playwright E.M. Lewis grew up surrounded by guns and learned to shoot on a date with her husband-to-be. But then she found herself on the other end of a barrel during a robbery and lost her husband to a gun wound. She knows firsthand the whole range of emotions guns elicit, and she’s loaded them all into a provocative play “The Gun Show.” The show debuted locally last fall, and it was so successful that Lewis and Vin Shambry, the actor who plays Lewis's character in the one-man show, are taking it on the road: first to Washington, DC, and then to a month-long run at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Hood River Teacher Rachel Harry Wins the Tony for Theater Education - 31:39The Tony Award for theater education goes to... teacher Rachel Harry at Hood River Valley High School. Harry welcomed us in during the final week of classes, so we could see what sets her program apart. She's been teaching in Hood River for 30 years, forging close connections with her students and pushing them toward fairly high-level creative practice.Remembering Jazz Musician Thara Memory - 36:46Jazz musician and educator died last Saturday night after an extended illness at 68. He lived hard, impacted hundreds of lives, mentored star musicians like Esperanza Spalding, and spent his final months trying to clear his reputation after former students accused him of inappropriate conduct. We look back on his complicated legacy.Omar El Akkad's "American War" Imagines - 43:40As a former correspondent for Toronto’s 'Globe and Mail newspaper, Omar El Akkad covered the Arab Spring in Egypt, military trials at Guantanamo Bay, refugee camps in Afghanistan, and the Black Lives Matter movement in Ferguson, Missouri. You can see many of those worlds in detail in his new book, but there’s a twist: El Akkad’s new book is a novel—a terrifyingly realistic one that’s set in the second half of the 21st century. The book is called "American War," and it’s the story of the second American Civil War—a war fought over fossil fuel consumption from 2074 to 2095.

Hi there, we have some news for you about the future of Watch Out for Fireballs! and Bonfireside Chat. We think it’s pretty exciting. The short version of it is that Bonfireside Chat is ending in August, and will be replaced with more frequent episodes of Watch Out for Fireballs!. The long version can be found below. We’ve got a lot of stuff to talk about, and we want to hear what you think. So we’ve set up a survey to gather your input. And we’re giving away three (3) $20 Steam gift cards to some randomly drawn people from the respondents. Please read everything here before you complete the survey, if you could. Here’s a link to the survey: https://duckfeed.typeform.com/to/LDPTnY Table of Contents Bonfireside Chat is Ending How is Bonfireside Chat going to end? What’s Replacing Bonfireside Chat? Watch Out for Fireballs! is Going Weekly WOFF! Will Change Schedules in August What’s Happening to the Crystal Chronicles? What’s Happening to Other Shows on the Network? How is the Patreon Changing? Early Release is getting better. We’re changing the Slack access tier. What are some open questions? We’re holding a survey. Timeline of Changes Not all of this is happening immediately. Here’s a brief timeline so you can know what takes effect when. January: WOFF! expands beyond retro games. May: Brayton replaces Gary on Check It Out, Comrade! Late June: Changes to the Duckfeed Patreon will take effect. July 1: Early Release shifts to 1 week early instead of 1 day early. July 9: Bonfireside Chat Victory Lap season begins. August 1: Watch Out for Fireballs! schedule change takes effect. August 20: Final Bonfireside Chat airs. Bonfireside Chat is Ending It’s strange to begin an announcement about Watch Out for Fireballs! with news for a different show, but the fate of Bonfireside Chat affects everything on the network. We’ve thought about it long and hard, and we’ve decided to end Bonfireside Chat in August of 2017. Bonfireside Chat and the Dark Souls series have both been very good to us. We’ve met a ton of great people doing the show, built an audience, and made some great episodes. But the Dark Souls 3 season kind of broke us. It was the first time we had to spend so much time playing, examining, and talking about a game that we’re not crazy for. We knew the end of Bonfireside Chat would happen some day. As early as a year ago, FromSoft told us that the series was concluding. We entertained the notion of continuing the show by talking about SoulsLikes, but those are of wildly varying quality. And all of our thoughts come back to this: Dark Souls was a game that was so good that we couldn’t *not** do a show about it.* Most of the sequels were as well. But it makes no sense to bind ourself to things that merely imitate something that we love. What if From releases a new SoulsBorne game? E3 is in a few weeks, and it’s totally possible that From will announce something related to Souls. This won’t change our decision. Instead, that game will be covered on Watch Out for Fireballs! The same applies to any really good SoulsLikes. How is Bonfireside Chat going to end? We have a plan for ending Bonfireside Chat, and we’ve alluded to it before. This summer, we’re walking back through the whole series in the opposite order that we’ve covered it. Each game will get an episode + appendix pair, and we’re going to talk about each entry in the broader context of the series now that we know how it ends. So that means the order is as follows: * Bloodborne (July 2) * Dark Souls 2 (July 16) * Demon’s Souls (July 30) * Dark Souls (August 13) These episodes will have guests, and they’re already chosen from our Bonfireside Chat After Dark tier backers. They are John Hurst, Mitch Benes, Randy Walker, and Kilo Pascal. Prior to that, we’re going to cover the remaining soulslikes we’ve committed to covering. Namely, Let It Die, Nioh, and Hollow Knight. You’ll notice that this brings the entire podcast around full circle. We like how appropriate that feels. What Happened to Bonfireside Chat After Dark? We miscalculated when we added Bonfireside Chat After Dark to the Patreon. We had no idea what would happen with the series or the show when we thought that up. We’ll own that mistake, and we also want to make it right… and here’s how. Those backers who would have been guests on Bonfireside Chat After Dark will instead guest on those final revisit episodes. It feels right to get people from the community involved in the victory lap, especially if they are people who have supported us as much as those individuals have. We’ve spoken with them, and they’re cool with it. If you paid for a prompt or question on Bonfireside Chat After Dark, we will use your responses during those recap appendices. Please look for a message in your email inbox toward the beginning of June. What’s Replacing Bonfireside Chat? We’ve gotten a lot of suggestions about what to cover after Bonfireside Chat ends. People were pulling hard for games like the Witcher and Nier. We seriously kicked around the idea of starting up a show that chronologically examined the Resident Evil games. The Crystal Chronicles was on our Patreon milestone goals for a very long time (more on that later). Starting up a new show about a new series of games makes less sense than making big changes to Watch Out for Fireballs!, which has always been our flagship show. What happens if we broaden that umbrella, and make changes to the schedule to allow us to cover more games in greater depth? What’s it look like if the Witcher 3 becomes a game we could cover on WOFF!? You end up with something we’ve codenamed WOFF! 2.0. But we likely won’t use that name in the future. Watch Out for Fireballs! is Going Weekly WOFF becoming more frequent is a huge deal for us. And here’s what it looks like. The first 3 weeks of each month (or the first 4, if it’s a 5 week month) will feature full episodes about short or medium length games, or episodes about portions of larger games (like we’ve done with large games in the past). The last episode of each month will be a collective listener response episode about all of the games we covered that month. This kind of grouping will also let us do themed batches of episodes each month. Hypothetically, this is what “Weird NES Sequels” month would look like. Week 1: Super Mario Bros. 2 Week 2: Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest Week 3: Zelda II: The Adventures of Link Week 4: Feedback episode about all three of the previous games. Other ideas for themed groups of episodes would be a long look at the Wolfenstein series, going from Wolfenstein 3D to the 2008 reboot to Wolfenstein: The New Order. We could also do a Resident Evil cleanup month, with Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Code: Veronica, and Resident Evil 6. We aren’t promising that either of those will happen right away, but they’re examples. If this sounds familiar, it’s similar to how we’ve treated JRPGs and CRPGs in the past. The Neverwinter Nights II series of episodes was a test model for this, and we think those episodes turned out very well. Looking at the math, our old “tick tock” model of release would usually result in 26 episodes per year. Our multi-part episodes have made us come out with slightly more than that (for example, we released 30 episodes in 2016). Under the new model, you would get 40 mainline episodes per year. Here are a few things that will happen as a result of this: * We will cover more “small” games. The Pac Man 2 episode in the Duck Bundle was a test for how this would work. * Split episodes will go away (namely, single episodes that feature two games, like the Starflight/Toe Jam & Earl episode, or the Brawler special). * We’ll be a little more liberal about splitting meaty games into multiple parts (example: Metal Gear Solid 2 is on our docket, and we’re splitting that 12 hour game in 2 because we will have a lot to say). * We’ll have to be more comfortable with some episodes being “only” 60-90 minutes, as we cover some shorter stuff. Two things that won’t go away are poll episodes and executive produced episodes. Those will be folded into the model, and remain unchanged. That means one of those will happen each quarter (or four times per year). Another consequence is that listener response episodes will be much meatier since they’ll cover 3 or 4 games, and there will be a more consistent deadline… namely, responses about all of the games should come in by the 15th of each month. WOFF! Will Change Schedules in August The changes to the WOFF! schedule will begin August 3, with Final Fantasy IV month. That’s right, we’ll be covering all of Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. For reference, here’s the schedule up through that point: Crimson Shroud (May 11) Pilotwings (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilotwings) (May 25) Yakuza (June 1) SSX Tricky (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSX_Tricky) (June 15) NOX(June 29) Metal Gear Solid 2, Part 1 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_2:_Sons_of_Liberty) (July 13) Metal Gear Solid 2, Part 2 (July 20) Final Fantasy IV, Part 1 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV) (August 3) Final Fantasy IV, Part 2 (August 10) The After Years, Part 1 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_IV:_The_After_Years) (August 17) The After Years, Part 2 (August 24) Final Fantasy IV Responses (August 31) What’s Happening to the Crystal Chronicles? You may wonder what us covering FF4 on WOFF! means for the Final Fantasy show we had planned. It means that show won’t happen. We pegged that show at a very high milestone amount because it would take a tremendous amount of work. But as Bonfireside Chat wound down, we realized we probably wouldn’t hit that total any time soon. And redesigning WOFF! presented an opportunity to cover the Final Fantasy games that were meaningful to us without taking on an unreasonable workload that would harm the rest of the shows. In general, we want to be very circumspect about adding new shows, so we’re going to make some changes to the Patreon campaign to reflect that. Expect more details later. Of note: Heartbeat City will not go away. Gary will record and release a pilot for that soon. What’s Happening to Other Shows on the Network? This change shouldn’t have a huge impact on other shows, but there are some things we’d like to announce/clarify so people know what’s up. Gary is taking a leave of absence from Check It Out, Comrade!, the network’s indie game show. Brayton Cameron from Teenage Dirtbags will be replacing him. Gary made this decision to free up more time for working on his book, and playing things for the new iteration of WOFF! We’re really excited to have Brayton take over his seat. Brayton is hilarious, and has different taste in games than Gary does, so you will see them cover different stuff. Gary will still come back for specific games (think Thimbleweed Park or Torment: Tides of Numenera). File Under Water has an end date. Right now, it’s slated to end in late October. A show about R.E.M. was always going to be limited, because they only put out a limited number of albums. We currently have no plans to cover another band. Radio Free Mid-World is a limited show as well. Once we run out of Dark Tower books, related works by King, and related media (the movies, TV show, whatever else comes) we will end that show. Don’t worry, this won’t happen until 2019 at the earliest. How is the Patreon Changing? We’re making some adjustments to the way our Patreon works, in order to reflect these changes to our show lineup. Chiefly (and logically), we’re getting rid of the $75 BSC Afterdark tier, and removing the “get a prompt on BSC Afterdark” from the $10 tier. We are also removing The Crystal Chronicles as a milestone goal. Both of these will be replaced by something else in due time… Look a little further down to see what we’re thinking of (and to see how you can help). We’re also making two other big changes. Early Release is getting better. Effective around the end of June and the beginning of July, episodes on the Early Release feed will come out a week early, instead of a day early. We are also raising the price of this perk to $5 per month. This is more valuable, we think, and it brings us closer in line with other Patreon campaigns that offer a similar perk. We’re going to make a great deal of these changes in the middle of June, and the “1 Week Early” change will happen for any episode that would have normally come out in July. The only show this doesn’t apply to right now is The Level, which will come out 1-2 days early because of how that show is produced. We’re changing the Slack access tier. Effective sometime in June, Slack invites will only go to backers at $5 and up. If you already have access to the Slack team, or access the Slack team before the change is made, then you will be grandfathered in. We will not revoke Slack access from people. We’re doing this for a couple of reasons. The community is getting very big, and it’s requiring more work and more touch than it did in the past. This will help control that. Additionally, it will reduce the number of drive-bys that happen, as $5 is a bigger investment. Something to note is that the $1 tier will not go away. Those small donation amounts are huge for us. You will still get access to incidental content, and access to Watch Out for Fireballs! polls. What are some open questions? Everything laid out before this paragraph is a decision we’ve already made. We feel like they are good decisions, and we wouldn’t shake things up so much if we didn’t feel so secure in how things are going. But each big decision is accompanied by multiple smaller decisions. And that’s why we’re running this survey… to gather useful information from you, and to hear your thoughts and ideas about how the network can get better at giving you things you want. Here are some questions that have gone unanswered, and we want your help. What’s a good replacement for the $75 tier? That’s a lot of money to give, and we want to make it awesome. Would you want to guest on an episode? Dictate a piece of media for a Try This type show? Dictate the subject of some video content like Let’s Plays? What kind of new milestones goals would you like to see? Should we do another live show each year? Should we hold a virtual DuckCon? Include more guest episodes on WOFF!? Do one-off milestones interest you? Not every milestone needs to be an ongoing commitment. Maybe we could do some actual-play tabletop one-offs. Maybe we could set a goal for Gary and Kole to stream some co-op games. And there are other questions we haven’t even thought to ask. We want to know what would make you a patron if you aren’t one already. We want to know what stuff we do that you care about, and we also want to know what you don’t care about. We’d also like to hear how you feel about the changes to our biggest shows. We’ve already made our decision about ending Bonfireside Chat, but it’s worth understanding how this will impact your listenership and patronage. Something we don’t want to hear is “Stick to Games” or “Stop mentioning politics.” We also don’t want to hear “Be more positive.” Save yourself the time and hassle if that’s what you were going to say. We’re holding a survey. After this novella of a post, we want to know what you think. Use the button below to fill out the survey. It will be a huge help to us. Completing the survey and selecting “Yes, I would like to enter the contest” will enter you for a chance to win a $20 Steam gift card (we are giving out three of them). We are especially interested in your responses if you’re not already a Patron of Duckfeed.tv on Patreon. A link to the survey: https://duckfeed.typeform.com/to/LDPTnY Thank you so much for reading this, if you’ve gotten this far. Your support has meant the world to us, and we are incredibly excited about what these changes mean for the network. Thanks for being along for the ride.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years By Kaleb Schweiss Development History:       Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was initially announced prior to the release of the DS Remake of Final Fantasy IV. Takashi Tokida, the game's executive producer, discussed there being talk of creating an after story, and a discussion began about working on mobile titles. Tokida may seem to be jumping in and changing things, but he had become quite attached to the characters, due to being a scenario writer for Final Fantasy IV. They decided that releasing the game in a mobile format would be beneficial, so it would allow players to play after completing the DS remake. This would effectively give you time to refresh your knowledge of FFIV before moving on to the After Years. The decision to have an episodic release came from a desire to have players anticipate the new chapters in the same way manga readers do. The Japanese mobile phones got the game on February 18th, 2008. The Prologue section Return of the Moon and Ceodore’s Tale were the initial releases, and the succeeding chapters came out in one month intervals. Just before the Lunarians Tale was released, Square Enix announced that the game had reached one million downloads, not including the free prologue chapter. As of March 2009, it has exceeded three million paid downloads. The game has a generally positive rate of review, with IGN giving it an 8/10.   Storyline:       The game takes place after the moon leaves the Blue Planets orbit. Peace ensues in the kingdoms, Mist is rebuilt. Civility reigns. Seventeen years later, the unimaginable happens. A second moon appears. FOR THE SECOND TIME!! We are then introduced to the product of Cecil’s powerful loins; Ceodore. Yes. His FUCKING GAME IS CEODORE!!! He is being initiated into the Red Wings, Baron’s famous air force fleet. He is introduced as a character who fears he’ll never step out of the shadow of his famous parents. He later finds out that he has what it takes, yada yada yada. We then head back to Baron, where we see Cecil, Rosa, and Cid fighting the endless onslaught of enemies, who seemingly appeared out of nowhere. We are then introduced to the Mysterious Girl. Cecil sees the imminent threat, and has Cid relocate with Rosa while he confronts this little bitch. The woman summons the legendary beast of ruin, Bahamut, and rips Cecil about a hundred new assholes. While these events take place, the airship carrying Ceodore is attacked. Everyone but Ceodore is killed, and he begins his journey home. While on the way, he gets ambushed by monsters, and is rescued by the Hooded Man. They head towards Mysidia, and we intercut to Mt. Ordeals, where Kain is heading towards Baron with a raging boner for Cecil’s sweet ass. On the way, Kain teams up with the aforementioned Mysterious Girl to steal the crystals. He also kidnaps Rosa, stating that he plans to kill Cecil and take Rosa for his own.  Ceodore, the Hooded man, and everyone’s “favorite” Spoony Bard Edward, intercept Kain in front of Cecil’s throneroom. This is when the Hooded Man finally reveals himself as the real Kain. The Kain we had been seeing up to this point was in fact a manifestation of his dark half. Kain fights his dark half, much like Cecil did seventeen years prior, and wins. He then becomes a Holy Dragoon.       We then get some of that sweet, sweet Rydia. She, Luca, and Edge are on an airship in the underworld. Suddenly, or not so much if you played the Lunarians Tale, the Man in Black appears and takes over the airship, taking it towards Baron. Upon approach, the party sees meteors falling from the second moon. They get to Baron, and find it sealed by magic. They then travel the world looking for their lost friends. This part of the game really reminded me of the Planet of Ruin in Final Fantasy VI. You eventually run into Rydia, and proceed to hunt down each of her missing Eidolons. Once the control of the summons via the Mysterious Girl are broken, the party is finally able to enter Baron. Once the party frees Cecil from the Mysterious Girl,  the Man in Black reveals himself as Golbez. Cecil, while freed from the girl's grasp, is a little off. The party realizes that the second moon is going to crash into their planet, reducing everything to a molten ball of pain, and try to come up with ways to stop it. Enter the Lunar Whale! Baawwwwooooooaaapppp!!!! The party takes the Lunar Whale to, you guessed it, the new moon. You descend the hours long dungeons, fighting your way through enemies from the original Final Fantasy IV, and then throws us a curveball. We fight bosses from Final Fantasy I through VI!! WTF!!!!!!! You eventually encounter Cecil’s evil side, fight it, and Cecil returns to the light.     Once you reach floor 1,000,000,000,000,000 of the dungeon, the party comes across a really freaky, FFIX esque room filled with multiple models of the Mysterious Girl being infused with what I can only assume is either Mako, or Mt. Dew. The Mysterious Girl comes from a race called the Maenads. They were each brought to be by the Creator, and their mission was to retrieve the crystals. The party descends deeper to discover this creator. He reveals that he comes from a race that died out due to failure to evolve, and he decided that he universe shouldn’t be overrun by inferior species. So, he did the only thing a logical Final Fantasy end boss could do. Create an intricate system of data gathering cameras in the form of crystals, and sent them around the universe to monitor life on the planets. He used these crystals to determine if the planet is evolving to its true potential. If it’s not up to par, he will destroy it. The Blue Planet did not reach the bar, as determined by James Cameron, and thus will be destroyed. Once this is revealed, he crushes the party. They are revived by the power of the crystals, and begin to wail on the Creators back door. Once they penetrate his pucker, we fight him. The moob form is fairly simple to destroy, but the ultimate form is another thing entirely. The party uses a crystal on him, and ultimately kills him, and flee the moon, rescuing the Maenad who explained their race to the party earlier. As the creator dies, he thanks the party for defeating him, and shows remorse for his actions. As he should, since the inhabitants of an inferior planet tore him to pieces. The party returns to their homes, Rydia adopts Maenad and names her Cuore, Edge’s ninjas continue to spy on everything, Cecil has Ceodore serve in the Red Wings under Kain, and also orders Baron’s airships disarmed and used to help rebuild the other kingdoms.   REMIXES: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGMku7bGwB4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOnJgWO8MBY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ8QiTd2Baw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2SMrZjz28w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaLB5xHIjSs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AE0IJY5ZOI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhu0POCLfS0

After YEARS of being completely honest with the podosphere at large about his feelings regarding Joss Whedon, Brother D FINALLY watched The Cabin in the Woods (dir. Drew Goddard).  Does it change his world?  Does it make him a Whedonite?  Does Miss Bren join him in watching the movie?  You'll have to listen to Episode 192 of Mail Order Zombie to find out.  When he wasn't watching The Cabin in the Woods, D interviewed Gwen Callahan, one of the forces behind this year's Zompire vs. The H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival (October 12-14).  During the interview, you'll find out what movies are playing that weekend and which movie will be turned into a drinking game.  We return to Silent Death's Bunker for further thoughts about the television series "Revolution" (and a theory behind why Milla Jovovich won't return Need-a-Nickname Scott's phone calls); Jimmy and Eric from Galactic Gaming News give us the latest in zombie videogame news; we read some emails and listen to a voicemail in the Feedback Discussion; and there's a contest announced SOMEWHERE in this episode . . . but telling you where or when would be spoiling the surprise.  While this is a SPOILER-heavy episode, we aren't going to spoil THAT!INTRO (00:00)ZOMBIE VIDEOGAME NEWS (03:25)CABIN IN THE WOODS (14:52)ZOMPIRE INTERVIEW WITH GWEN CALLAHAN (64:51)SILENT DEATH (1:32:19)FEEDBACK (1:39:23)Mail Order Zombie Facebook Group - http://tinyurl.com/facebookmozMail Order Zombie Twitter - http://www.twitter.com/mailorderzombieEmail us at MailOrderZombie@gmail.com or call us at 206-202-2505!The Book of Zombie - http://thebookofzombie.com/Cost of the Living: A Zom Rom Com - http://www.lovethyjob.com/zomromcom/News.htmZompire vs. The H.
