This week's guest comes out of the corn to join us in the #Lounge! It's MALACHI! Star of the 1984 movie, Children of the Corn, and SO MANY other great movies, Courtney Gains is the guest with the guys!Having played roles in movies such as the aforementioned Children of the Corn, The Burbs, Memphis Belle, Back to the Future, Can't Buy Me Love to name just a few, Courtney talks about what it's like being an actor throughout his whole entire adult life! With over 30 years of acting, he has seen a lot and worked with a TON of actors. He talks about whether HE gets star-struck, even though he's been acting for so long. Has there been a role he didn't know would be a hit when he took the job? Does he remember life before acting? What does he do to get ready for a role? They're all answered!Little Matt mentions Courtney has guitars on his wall and asks if he plays, and Courtney talks about his new album, "Acoustic Gains, vol. 1!" They then get onto the topic of music and how it has changed over the years, and how now acoustic is a "specialty." They talk about Courtney's role in "Queen Bees." A movie starring Academy Award-winning actress Elen Burnstyn, Ann-Margaret, Jane Curtain, Lorretta Devine, along with James Caan, and Christopher Lloyd, Courtney talks about being able to be in a scene with the leading ladies and how he learned from them even though he's been acting for so long! They DO get onto the topic of baseball and watching the Cubs on WGN when he was growing up in LA. He talks about being able to go to Wrigley and enjoy the experience of a baseball game at the Friendly Confines. Such a great time with Courtney! The guys would LOVE to have him back to catch up on things he's doing, and enjoy the time with him again! After their hang out, Sam, and Little Matt "Just Chat!" Richey wasn't present for the closer, and Matt had a topic he wanted to talk about, SO... they did! You can't have "Let's Chat!" without all three present, so it's "Just Chat!" It's a REALLY good topic... and it was good to Just Chat!Wonderful show! SO, sit back, relax, and #grabalisten!

To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1085/29 Watch cable TV for awhile and you’re bound to see a program about buried treasure in the Sierra Mountains or off some Caribbean island. Ever wonder why the searchers hardly ever find anything? An even better question might be what on earth does buried treasure have to do with government bonds and your savings account? Today, Kingdom Advisors President Rob West answers those questions and more. Then it’s your calls at 800-525-7000. The Efficient Markets theory. In the stock market it means that the value of a stock always reaches its perfect selling price barring any outside factors. Now, applying it to buried treasure it works like this the bigger the treasure the more likely someoneelse has already found it. A lot of folks are passing up some buried treasure in the form of government I bonds.Right now about the best you’ll get with your savings or emergency fund in an online bank is around 0.5% interest. Brick and mortar banks are paying far less. But, right now,Series I savings bonds are currently offering 1.68% that’s more than 3 times the online bank rate, and it would pay you $118 a year for a $10,000 emergency fund. An I bond is just another type of U.S.savings bond and it’s guaranteed to keep up with inflation. As with other bonds you get a fixed rate set for the life of the bond. And right now it’s right around zero. If you own an I bond you’ll get semi-annual rateadjustments. In other words, two per year. Right now, that rate change is 0.84%. Double that because you get two of them and your annual interest is just under 1.7%. There’s your buried treasure. And of course, I bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. Also, interest on I bonds is free from state taxes and possibly federal taxes if you cash in the bond in the same year you pay for college expenses depending on your income. Theydo come with a few restrictions. You have to hang onto them for at least 12 months before you can cash them in. That means you shouldn’t put all of your emergency savings into I bonds in a single year. Also, you can’t buy I bonds through your broker or bank, you can only buy them online at TreasureDirect.gov. There’s nothing wrong with putting a portion of your savings into an I bond if you’re comfortable knowing that you can’t touch it for at least 12 months. If you can do that, you’ll earn almost $120 extra per year on $10,000, sort of like finding buried treasure. Here are a couple of questions we answered from our callers on today’s program: My daughter has been doing my taxes the past few years. She told me that I do not need to file taxes this year since social security is my only income, is that correct? I had an accident a couple years ago and I will be receiving a settlement soon. What is the wise thing to do with the money I will receive? I recently graduated from college. All of my loans are on hold because of Covid. What is the best way to pay these down? How do you know which charities are legitimate? Is it wise to refinance right now? Ask your questions at (800) 525-7000 or email them toQuestions@MoneyWise.org. Concomitantly, since the aforesaid seems plausible then the five fundamental characteristics of language include cultural relevance, symbolism, flexibility, variation, and social importance is critical to this discourse. Where do our feelings fit into our faith? Elizabeth Laing Thompson, in all her sweet, spiritual brilliance, stops by to discuss her new book and help us make sense of this age-old question! Elizabeth drops some major truth bombs on the importance of acknowledging, appreciating, and processing our feelings in a way that honors our big-feeling God. As we switch off the "airplane mode" on our feelings, we can create healthy boundaries while simultaneously embracing the God-given depths of our emotional makeups. If you are in need of some soul-validation or direction, you DO NOT want to miss this episode! About the Speaker: Elizabeth Laing Thompson is the author of When God Says, "Wait" and When God Says, "Go." She writes at elizabethlaingthompson.com about clinging to Christ through the chaos of daily life. As a speaker and novelist, she loves finding humor in holiness and hope in heartache. Elizabeth lives in North Carolina with her preacher husband and four spunky kids, and they make her feel humbled but happy, exhausted but exhilarated, sometimes stressed but often silly well, you know . . . all the feels. Episode Notes:Where do feelings/emotions fit into our faith? How does God feel about our emotions and why did he create us with them? How does the scripture help us to use our feelings as a way to honor God Big Feelers:Feel it and feel it big.Gifts: Empathy, intuition, etc. Sometimes hard to make space for other's feelings and hard to pull out of the dark places.Steady Feelers:Can feel things deeply, but not as often. Don't LIVE in the big feels.Gifts: Can plan & feel simultaneously : Forward moving & can compartmentalize Can find it confusing when they are spinning from big feelings- Have a hard time processing their feelings. Reluctant Feelers: Can see feelings as being illogical, unproductive and distracting Gifts: Clear thinkers, logical, fair-minded, focused on facts & truth They DO have feelings, just usually don't LIKE it. Can shove things down and then it can explode in unhealthy ways. Can be invalidating or condescending of others' feelings. If it matters to you, it matters to God. That sets you free to feel what you feel and take that to God. The more we go to God with all of our emotions & pain, the more pressure it takes off of our human relationships. Many Christians think we should put our feelings in airplane mode when it comes to our faith. Telling yourself you shouldn't feel it doesn't make the feeling go away. Even if you don't want to feel a certain way, you can still work through it, instead of around it, through the scriptures and Godly processes. What does God want us to do with our feelings? Even the ones that feel or seem "unacceptable"? He wants us to bring it Him and ask for His help, intervention, and direction. Thoughts & feelings are extremely connected. We may need to reframe and inject more faith into our thoughts, but we can work through our thoughts in the presence of God.Psalm 139- God Himself is EmotionalHe made you the way you are- you are wired that way for a reason.Your feelings are a way to connect with God and reflect His heart.Buy the book by clicking here!Support the show (https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/678206?giving_to=Woven%20In%20Truth%20Podcast)

Your team may have your business' ideal customer profile defined, but does it have an understanding of its buyer personas? A Marketing Leader, Persona Creator, Podcast Host, and the Fractional CMO of KenKay Marketing, Vicki O'Neill, encourages marketers to put in the work and define their buyer personas, to prioritize efforts and deliver relevant marketing to their ideal buyer.   Takeaways: Buyer personas go beyond the surface level demographics. Personas make up the obstacles, stresses, and emotions of why the buyer would begin to search for your product or service in the first place. If you do not have any buyer personas defined, start with one. Start by looking at the data you have on existing customers and pick out the best ones. Then have conversations with them, so you can understand their persona and then create marketing that speaks to prospects that are similar to your best customers. Our focus needs to be on the customer and their journey. Look at your customer journey and note how your best customers navigate from one call to action to the next. What are the different touch points they interact with? “[Buyers] want to see their peers, other customers, talking about the experience that people are having with a particular company or brand.” - Vicki O'Neill We have to be in the business of creating great customer experiences because at the end of the day the customers are the best marketers for the business. National Association of Black & White Men Together

As a member of the National Association of Black and White Men Together, I am always checking in with Democratic Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg, an out gay man. So how is he doing? Let’s look at the latest poll. According to a Quinnipiac national poll former Vice President Joe Biden has retaken the lead while Senator Elizabeth Warren's numbers have plummeted, . Biden receives 24 percent of the vote among Democratic voters and independent voters who lean Democratic, while Buttigieg gets 16 percent, Warren receives 14 percent, and Sen. Bernie Sanders gets 13 percent. As another point, In an October 24 poll, Warren received 28 percent, Biden had 21 percent, Sanders was at 15 percent, and Buttigieg got 10 percent. The Quinnipiac poll said “Biden is back on top of the pack but Buttigieg has broken into the top tier, apparently at the expense of Warren”. Meanwhile ,An October focus group of black voters in South Carolina commissioned by Pete Buttigieg’s campaign found that the candidate’s sexual orientation may be one of the reasons he has struggled to gain support among African Americans there. Of course, as a gay man this raised my hackles, I had hoped his candidacy would be judged by his policies and values. His polling is doing well and fundraising is good, so let him seek to be the country’s first gay presidential nominee. As of 2019 according to Wikipedia, all 50 states have been served by openly LGBT elected politicians in some capacity. There has been one openly bisexual state governor (Kate Brown); One openly gay person (Jared Polis) was elected governor after coming out as gay. No openly gay person ever served on the Supreme Court of the United States or served as a Cabinet Secretary. incidentally, there is speculation that President James Buchanan may have been gay or bisexual, President Abraham Lincoln may have been gay or bisexual. Buttigieg has struggled to make inroads with black voters. Among black voters in South Carolina, he received less than 1 percent support in a Fox News poll released this month. According to NPR: “Fairly or not, African-Americans have become the public face of resistance to same-sex marriage, owing to their religious beliefs and the outspoken opposition of many black pastors. Yet the presence of gays and lesbians in black churches is common. And the fact that they often hold leadership positions in their congregations is the worst kept secret in black America”. Buttigieg’s focus group shows the challenges he faces. Beyond that, participants also told researchers they were concerned about Buttigieg’s political inexperience, low name recognition and relative youth. Nearly all of the voters said they were considering voting for former vice president Joe Biden. The report said other participants suggested that while “they personally didn’t have a problem” with Buttigieg being gay, they feared Republicans would use it against him in the general election. Others worried it would make it harder for him to interact with foreign leaders. Buttigieg knows this, and his campaign maintains its low poll numbers with black voters is largely a problem of name recognition and pointed to ramped-up efforts the mayor has made in South Carolina in recent months. He has released his Douglass Plan Plan to “Empower Black America.” And perhaps this may help, but may be not enough to overcome these perceptions of some Black folks. Buttigieg has also faced criticism from black voters during his tenure as mayor which led to complaints on Black events and missteps. And before he became mayor of South Bend, Ind. in 2012, a recently resurfaced video showed he reaches out to a tea party racist group, saying he believes “we might find that we have a lot in common.” Black voters are not a monolith or vote strictly according to skin color. They are shaped by geographical location, gender and generation. They DO want to beat Trump, they do care about healthcare, income and wealth inequality, for example.

After years of being a real estate agent coach, the amount of excuses I’ve heard as to why an agent can’t succeed is ridiculous. That’s why one of my absolute favorite things is to help people turn obstacles into opportunities. No matter what obstacle you are facing as a realtor I believe that opportunity is just around the corner and all it usually takes is a mindset shift. Stop making excuses and start embracing opportunities by pressing play on this episode! Start doing things differently and beat the sold sign It is incredibly disheartening to prepare for an open house only to find out that it has been canceled due to the property already being sold. How are you going to get those leads in your matchmaker in order to convert them if you never met those potential leads in the first place?! What if there was a way to beat the sold sign and start turning that obstacle into an opportunity? Well friends, there is. Start having your open houses the day the property is listed. If it lists on a Tuesday morning, do an open house that night. It may be unorthodox, but it will show buyers you mean business and help you stand out in a saturated market. Open houses are for every market What if I told you that your biggest obstacle was actually a lie? So many agents tell me that open houses don’t work in their market when I know for a fact that another agent in the same market is excelling in that area. You may believe that lie because you tried to put on an open house and it failed. Just because it didn’t work when you did it does not mean that there isn’t a way to make it work. Maybe it was the wrong season or maybe you had the wrong approach? When I take agents through the process of how to have an effective open house it is oftentimes a game changer for their business. You have to believe that open houses work because THEY DO. Your most dangerous obstacle is the one you don’t know you have In the world of “the more I do the more successful I’ll be” the idea of having two chase pillars seems like a good idea. After all, what’s the harm in casting two nets right? The most common example of this is running Facebook ads while holding open houses. The glaring issue with this is that if open houses fall through we become tempted to use our ads as a crutch. You’ve probably said things like “Well at least I have my ads”. I’ve found in my own business that not a lot of Facebook leads convert and if you use it as a crutch it will eventually cause us to fall on our face. I want to go deeper on this so listen to this episode for more insight. The most obvious answer is usually correct Sometimes the way we turn obstacles into opportunities is by embracing what is right in front of us. So many realtors out there want to become listing agents. My solution? Work with buyers that have houses to sell. I know that sounds obvious, but you would be surprised by the number of agents that want to be listing agents and are targeting first time home buyers. That is completely counter-intuitive. I became a listing agent without trying because I sought to work with people who needed to sell their home before buying another one. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel and just hop in the car. Distinguishing Between Persuasion and Manipulation | Coffee is for Closers For any profit-oriented sales person, any tactic or technique that leads to the sale is justifiable… RIGHT? WRONG! Who cares if you persuade or manipulate your prospects? THEY DO! It’s easy to fall into the trap of “just trying to get the sale” by telling your prospect that you’re product or service can and will provide them the MOON, even if it’s a lie. Every time I open Facebook or scroll Instagram, I’m bombarded with ads to “buy this” or “download” that. On each of these ads are things like “only 10 spots remaining” or “act now, the price goes up in 1 hour.” Sure, these scarcity tactics get people to buy, but they’re manipulative and inauthentic. And around here we believe that authenticity is key! When it comes to sales you want to persuade prospects to make a decision that’s best for them, not manipulate them. Shameca loves to share with her new prospects what can happen by working with her. She’ll share case studies from previous clients and allow the potential new client to make their own decisions. You want the client to believe that what you can do is possible, because if they don’t believe it, they won’t put the effort in and their success won’t come. Trust us! Authentic persuasion is the way to the heart of your dream clients. On this episode, Shameca and I discussed persuasion vs. manipulation, and how to use it effectively in your business. Creatives Making Money: Financial, Branding & Marketing Strategies For Creative Entrepreneurs, and Influencers

Today, we’re talking about A Star Is Born, the film released just a few weeks ago, directed by Bradley Cooper and also co-starring Lady Gaga.   I know, I know. You’re probably like waitttt a second. WHY is this even a conversation we’re having on Creatives Making Money? MOVIE REVIEWS? IS THAT WHAT WE’RE DOING NOW?   So first of all, this is NOT a movie review. It’s more of an evaluation of the story and a deep look into the various topics it touches on that I feel FULLY relate to creatives.   Now, I love this film, but of course this film isn’t perfect. All movies have problems, and so does this one.   I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t.   The purpose of this analysis and discussion isn’t to compare the movie to previous versions of the story.  It’s not to tell you what’s good and bad and nitpick it critically. Again, it’s not a review.   The purpose of this conversation is to talk frankly about the open loops this film leaves in the audience and hopefully help you, as a viewer and creative, spark more conversations in your everyday life and/or our Facebook community on these subjects.   Now, if you haven’t seen the film yet -- there are spoilers galore in this episode. So just know that! If you wanna listen to this and then go see the film, by all means, do it. But just know you’ll want to experience the film first to get the most out of this episode.   So, as I said all movies have problems.   With A Star Is Born, one of the gifts and “problems” is that as audience members we are being asked to suspend our disbelief within the the very first ten minutes of the movie. Now this is true for a lot of movies. Movies create a world different from our own, and when you decide to participate you are agreeing to be IN the world of the move, which operates by its own set of rules.   In this case, There is NOTHING traditionally “REALISTIC” ABOUT how this story kicks off.   In the first Act of the film, we meet Lady Gaga’s character (Ally) as she breaks up with a boyfriend and expresses her frustration with the opposite sex. She’s a server. She’s a singer. She’s doing the thing that so many creatives making money can resonate with -- working the money job and writing her music and songs on the side --- because she can’t NOT.   It’s WHO she is.   We also meet Bradley’s character -- Jackson Main -- a beaten down alcoholic musician that’s already achieved his supernova status.   By some complete fluke, driven by his addiction to alcohol, one night after his latest concert Jackson stumbles into the bar where Ally happens to be performing. A drag bar. A place where she’s the only non-drag performer.   And Jackson is immediately taken with her. She becomes his muse. That night, they stay up all night and have a bit of an adventure. But what’s special here isn’t that he meets her and falls for her.   It’s that it all happens so conveniently and seamlessly, but as an audience member -- even though we are going “yeah right” at almost every turn, we’re also 100% ON BOARD.   And for a story like this, you have to be.   WHY? Because this is WISH FULFILLMENT STORY.   Here is Ally. And Ally is us. Ally is every person who’s ever had a dream, a message, a story, a passion, a talent and wished she could simply climb on stage and SHINE that big and bright -- like A STAR.   Ally crawls towards supernova status as her relationship with Jackson evolves. Now, as a woman watching this, there are some challenges here:   After they sing together, you know 24 hours after they’ve met, I can’t help but ask myself...   Is she really sleeping with him already? Does she want to?   Here’s another thing --   When you fall in love with characters, it doesn’t matter how fucked up they are -- to an audience, the more flawed the character, the better. We’ll get back to that later.   As the movie continues, we get swept away in their love story and the wish fulfillment of Ally’s rise to fame -- and we go along for this ride.   But the ride isn’t without bumps. (NO great story would be.)   More and more of Jackson’s backstory and trauma is revealed, as his tinnitis (and drinking) get progressively worse, and as Alli gets to know the man behind the fame more and more -- we see just how REAL their problems are.   We also see and feel their love, the excitement and adventure of the change Ally’s experiencing. Their singing on stage together, writing songs together, co-creating, the beautiful power of it all.   But when we get down to the primal nature of this story and where it HITS us.   It’s about this miracle that anything can happen, at any moment, and totally change your life. One minute Ally’s a server and the next she’s touring and shining her light -- a change she seems to so distinctly underline in her crooning of the signature song Shallow when she says “In all the good times, I find myself longing for change” a change so many of us can relate to desiring.   It’s one of the oldest wishes in the book. Our inner child calling out for someone else, God, the Universe, another person to sweep in and change our life. Love us. Believe in us. Lift us out of what we’re doing. Make our dreams come true just because we’re worthy of it.   And aren’t we all worthy of it?   As we go on this journey as an audience member, it can’t help but kick up ANY hidden dreams you might be harboring deep inside.   WHY? Because you can’t witness this type of EXPLOSION of wish fulfillment without examining what it is YOU wish for. If you’re being self-reflexive as an audience member, this is how you can allow stories to serve you.   Here’s what I want you to know… if you watched this movie, and it kicked up the dust of old, long-forgotten dreams, you’re not alone.   Then, we get to the love story.   OH their love story.   There are so very many moments and scenes where we see Ally and Jackson loving each other so purely, so truly, so genuinely, that we don’t care that he’s a raging alcoholic and that she clung to him to lift her out of her existing life. But this isn’t a story about someone discovering Ally and deciding it was a smart business move to sign her. This is a story about Jackson bringing Ally on tour to be with him romantically, and sing with him, and that decision changing the course of her life.   And even though it’s riddled with conflict (I mean, he’s an addict and she’s codependent), it’s tough to look at their love story and not swoon.Because through all of that, their love is so sweet and enduring that we can’t even judge it. We especially can’t judge it because it’s absolutely HUMAN to be either or both of those things. I don’t know one person who hasn’t been in a relationship at some point that didn’t somehow reflect what Jackson and Ally face.   This is where we get into shifting gender roles and the question I continue to ask leaving this movie which is whether women get to be superstars and have relationship.   I can’t help but ask this especially off the heels of Lady Gaga’s own stories of losing relationships as she became more and more famous and successful. (If you haven’t seen her documentary 5 foot 2, I highly recommend it.)   Both characters have to balance their careers with their private problems and relationship with one another. And as an audience member, I keep expecting relationship problems to pop up that don’t -- most of the obstacles in this film are dominated by Jackson’s inner world and struggles.   Towards the end of the film, and the end of their relationship, Ally considers cancelling her world tour in order to be with Jackson and care for him. This is after he pees himself on stage while accepts her grammy, because he was messed up on drugs and booze.   But we still love Jackson, and so does Ally. We get glimpses of Jackson off the booze and drugs. Glimpses of who he really is. And we see him hit rock bottom and fight his way to sobriety.   As for me, I’m grateful this story helps us love an addict, but it doesn’t bode well for the future of being an addict.   And, I’ll speak from experience here -- I know MANY artists who are artists because they feel more than others. They feel everything. They have a deep need to speak, create, express.  They can’t manage or function like “everyone else.” I’d say most struggle with anxiety and depression more than others -- and it’s not just the nature of being an artist that comes with that territory.   It’s also the undue pressure and strain of also being in a position of constantly putting one’s work out there over and over and again and again and the vulnerability inherent in that work.   Once you have the audience, you’re then creating for them. What if they don’t like what you’ve created? How will they receive it? Just because a Star is Born doesn’t mean that the struggles are suddenly gone.   Which makes you question the VALUE of your work (and occasionally yourself) altogether.   The film also touches on this topic as a Rock Versus Pop conversation. As Ally rises to a new level of fame, she ventures away from the pure piano and guitar and vocals rock music she creates with Jackson and becomes a POP star. Jackson seems to think that’s not “good enough” or “real” enough. In more than one scene he expresses concern about her authenticity and ultimately de-values her work when she’s up for a Grammy because it’s POP, and not always super “deep.” Earlier in the film, Ally also has a scene where she calls this out during a dance rehearsal, saying “I don’t want to lose the part of me that’s talented.”   Do we lose the parts of ourselves that are authentic and talented in the interest of commercial success?   THIS is one of those questions that we’ll always ask as we create and make money.   What IS the right balance between selling out and genuinely creating, purely, not for financial gain or commercial success? Does that type of art even exist?   And then there’s their parents. We learn that Jackson didn’t have a father who was present and available and healthy and cared for him. His mother died in childbirth. He was largely on his own, learning nothing but that he wasn’t loved unconditionally by anyone except his brother -- from what we know.   Ally had a strong father figure. Perhaps this is part of why she’s got a different emotional foundation, a toughness, a street smart, take-no-shit attitude that allows her to do things like punch a cop in the face at an after hours bar and think nothing of it. In many ways, she’s the protector of Jackson who’s never had a parent to do that job before.   And regardless of the WHYs of the parenting backgrounds each of these characters faced in their histories, we are still left with this resounding call-out around men and mental health. Particularly creative men and mental health.   Which anchors this story in it’s ultimate what I’ll call “resting place:” love and loss.   Watching this film, and Jackson’s journey, I couldn’t help but think about other recent suicides of people we’d consider “Stars”, such as Chris Cornell, Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade…   Jackson is a tragic hero.   He chooses to die so Ally can rise. He chooses to die because he’s depressed and considers himself broken. He also chooses to die because Ally loves him too much to leave on her own.   But that doesn’t make the pain any less significant.   Films that end this way leave us with all kinds of loose ends to process.   We wonder...   Did Jackson need to die so Ally could rise?   It’s a movie, so in the context of what makes a tragic hero, yes.   But in the context of thinking about all of the people in your life who might suffer from mental illness, depression, anxiety, addiction -- no.   They DO need to seek help and get help.   This film is uniquely special in that it’s the type of project that doesn’t come around often.   It’s rare that films of this type and size get the greenlight. It’s a special moment in a career like Bradley Cooper’s to get this opportunity -- and to slam dunk it. And I mean that across the board. The music, the directing, the story itself, the ability to cast Lady Gaga exactly at this moment of her career where she’s already a supernova and is shifting how she shows up as an artist, stripped down, raw, vulnerable, naked.   I appreciate this film so much because it’s the type of project that doesn’t happen often AND it touches on all of this subjects so impactfully. It has a multi-media component as a musical and the music tells the story almost if not just as much as the film does. So as a musical, it’s on another level.   But the movie also leaves you in a state of grief, with a lot to process on, like…   Your dreams and wishes Your love life Your relationship with addiction and mental health Men and women -- and their unique challenges in the world Being an artist and the challenges that come with that Selling out versus being REAL Loss and grief   My favorite scene in the film is the scene where Ally and Jackson’s brother Bobby are speaking after Jackson’s death.   In that scene, Bobby says “Jack talked about how music is essentially 12 notes between any octave, 12 notes and the octave repeats. It’s the same story told over and over, forever. All any artist can offer the world is how they see those 12 notes. That’s it.”   And I believe that to be true. Life is life. Story is story. It’s 12 notes. It’s the human condition. It’s the struggle of being an infinite soul with an infinite imagination, living in a mortal body. It’s knowing you’re going to die. It’s loving and losing. It’s facing the time you have on this planet and making choices every day about what to do with that time. How you’re going to spend it well, and wisely and truthfully. What you’re going to create that you feel matters -- your legacy.   All of that is a lot. Especially if you’re struggling with mental health issues too.   Here’s what I want you to remember if you’re a creative and life feels hard today or just some of the days -- because I know there are some days you might feel like an Ally before Jack, some days you’ll feel like Ally after Jack, and some other, darker days you might feel like a Jackson -- remember that help is available to you.   You are loved. You are supported. You are valued.   You can reach out to a friend, to a call center, to a therapist, to a support group.   You have options. DON’T try to walk this path alone. You have a tribe available to you. This is a big reason I created a community along with this podcast. Now, I have some action steps for you that I’ll be sharing NOW -- because I’m not doing an afterparty this week. Some questions I’d love for you to think about and journal on, and feel free to share what you discover in the group.   Your dreams and wishes -- what do you want, really? If you could have life any way you wanted, what would you wish for?   Your love life -- What do you believe about love and relationship now? How is that showing up, or not?   Your relationship with addiction and mental health -- Is this something you, or someone you love, struggles with? What can you do today to help someone who needs support (maybe it’s you). Choose to walk this path with compassion and self-belief.   Men and women -- and their unique challenges in the world -- What’s your feeling about gender roles and dynamics? What do you have to face that’s unique to your gender, or your gender identity? How can you share that with others and provide and receive support?   Parents - how did your parents help or hinder your choices to be yourself, express yourself, and go for your dreams?   Being an artist and the challenges that come with that -- Are you creating the way you want to be? Why or why not?   Do you feel like a sell-out right now? Why or why not?   Loss and grief -- Is there someone or something you’re grieving right now? How can you create space for grief and let yourself truly and fully process the loss?   I’d love for you to think about and journal on these questions, and feel free to share what you discover in the group.

Greetings from the Audible Café podcast, where we spend time together each week to explore the natural world, wildlife, sustainable living, and climate change. On this week's episode, I spend time talking with Allan Fierce, Legislative Coordinator for the Massachusetts Chapter of Elders Climate Action, and Jane Winn, Executive Director of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT). “At the very end of the day, the House and Senate have been unable to agree on climate and energy legislation.” Allan Fierce, Massachusetts Elders Climate Action “We're very upset with the House leadership for pretty much killing all the clean energy legislation. We’d like to see House leadership wake up and allow good clean energy legislation to actually pass this session.” Jane Winn, Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) Both Allan and Jane discuss the challenges facing their organizations, activists, and concerned citizens at large in urging their representatives in the Statehouse to pass foward-thinking, sane energy bills. Climate change, environmental concerns, and social justice inequalities dictate that we need to QUICKLY move Massachusetts (and the world) to a sustainable energy future not dependent on fossil fuels. The future is in clean, renewable energy sources like solar and wind and geothermal power to heat and cool our living spaces and generate electricity. But the majority of the Massachusetts House of Representatives does not act in a way that demonstrates they believe in the urgency of this pivotal moment in history. Perhaps more disturbing is the dysfunction and undemocratic procedures and processes of the Commonwealth's legislature that are revealed in these interviews. Thank you Allan Fierce and Jane Winn! You have provided us with an eye-opening and enlightening -- if unsettling -- view into our Statehouse that is much appreciated. SHOWNOTES: https://wp.me/p5bc9S-2hK   By far the classiest, most cultured edition of the Year of Fun so far - I went to see (and hear) the orchestra! I've only been to the orchestra once before: the result of a spare ticket needing a taker, and I took it. Honestly, the first time: I wasn't super excited. I like live music, though I very rarely go to gigs these days because of, you knew, standing in a sweaty crowd of strangers, the worst of whom who have no ability to recognise that standing in front of a 5'3" girl isn't the most thoughtful thing to do when youre 6'4". But sitting in a nice theatre with lots of people who's average age doubles your own? Heck yes: that's my kind of fun on a Sunday afternoon. Anyway, that first time I was in tears within 5 mins - I was overwhelmed with the magic of it. Seeing these real people move in such precision & synchronicity to play music that is the auditory equivalent to the Mona Lisa... I mean, it was incredible. So naturally I was pretty thrilled when I pulled this one out of the Jar of Fun last week. For one: this really is a perfect thing for an over-thinking introvert like me to do on a rainy afternoon. Honestly I was in quite a funk all weekend, for no real reason, just feeling like a cloud of discontent, itchiness & apathy was passing overhead and the last thing I wanted to do was to sit at my laptop… But I didn't want to see anyone either. The orchestra provided a perfect respite from a - temporary - moodiness. No demands to speak to anyone, perform or create: all of which I do actually enjoy, just at certain times. This musical break let me just exist, in my comfy chair, and be an observer . Observing is one of my favourite ways to calm my busy mind- and I recommend it to any introvert who struggles as much as I do with traditional meditation. Instead of challenging my mind: a kind of trap I fall into when I sit in silence & attempt to let my thoughts float by like clouds or whatever piece of shit advice you get on the Headspace app - instead, I let myself experience what's happening around me and use that as a point of focus. Before long, I'm far more present & mindful than I can ever get when I try to sit still and go blank. And by the way - you don't need to go to the orchestra to do this. I first practised this on a long distance walk on the South Downs. I started to pay a kind of unexciting game to distract myself from my achey legs: l started just noting the colour of everything around me. Surprisingly, I wasn't just saying: green, green, green - there were lots of colours to see, and it wasn't long before I found myself in a zen-like reverie and not at all thinking about my sore legs. Back to the orchestra: Whilst I didn't break down and start crying this time, I was just as impressed by the performance. My seat was amazing - first row of a balcony - so I could really see the whole team doing their thing. The conductor was the star of the show, if I'm honest: at one point he jumped - both feet off the ground - he literally used his whole body to conduct. Amazing, especially when you're working within an art form that is… well, formal - everyone has to dress in black and sit in a certain way and be about as regimented as an army platoon, with y'know, less killing people. It also got me thinking about our position in life - whatever domain, whether it's at home, or in school or in your career - we're all individuals, yes - we all have our own piece of music to play - but we're also part of this whole. That when you put us together, magic is created that wouldn't otherwise exist. Not the most unique of metaphors I know, but it really is perfect. It especially made me chuckle when I saw the guy whose job it is to play the triangle. I mean, you look at these incredibly complex, elaborate, finely tuned instruments with lots of strings or pipes - and then you look at this seemingly simple, three-sided piece of bent metal. It seems kind of… juvenile, and out of place. Insignificant, next to it's fellow percussion instrument: the cymbals. Whoah - they may be simple but everyone knows you pay attention to a clash from the cymbals. That's when I got a bit of a surprise. When the triangle got going, towards the end of one piece, it was unmissable. It's distinct sound calling our attention, emphasising the beat and cutting through the entire strings and wind and brass section - it definitely gave the cymbals a run for their money. So, another cheesy metaphor, but I can't help myself - don't underestimate the seemingly small, simple and insignificant parts. They DO make a difference and certainly hold their own. Now I know getting to an orchestra may not be as easy for you as it was for me - here in Brighton, a considerably culture-friendly city - but I'll bet you can make time to sit and just listen to a classic piece of music. It doesn't need to be classical, but I would encourage it: partly because of the fun you can have in playing my noticing game. So like I described on my walk, where I noticed the colours of all the things - try to notice the details in the music - what instruments can you hear? How does it make you feel? One of the pieces played was ‘Night on a Bald Mountain' by Mussorgsky - also featured in Disney's Fantasia - definitely made me feel high levels of anxiety, probably because of that scene in the film etched into my confused childhood head - but even that was fun to see how my body was responding to the music in such a dramatic way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tu1no7hOlSs Fun rating: 7/10 It really was a lovely afternoon, and I thank you Brighton Philharmonic for the entertainment.     Next week's fun activity is... Go to a car-boot sale!

We have all said it so many times things like: I don’t know why they didn’t buy? Or how about, “I really thought they were going to buy”? Think about the last time you said that? Why didn't they buy?  Why didn't we know? What could we do differently? We all ask these questions whenever we think we should have had a sale.  Wouldn’t it be great if everyone who wanted our product just had a sign saying, “I want to buy”! Here is shocking news!! THEY DO!  The problem is that we miss it? Customers give us signals.  Sadly they are very unlikely to say, “Hey!  Let me buy your stuff!”  But in many ways, the things they do and say are saying exactly that. When a customer tells us they want to buy sometimes even unconsciously, these are called “Buying Signals.” We know how to build the like, admire and trust with a person. Network Marketing Success Skills - Street Smart Wealth

You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 305. Today, we are going to talk about Actions, and taking the right actions for success in your business, and so our Mantra this week is - My actions create my prosperity.   Need some coaching to move you forward? My one on one and inner circle programs are LIVE! Are you looking for coaching to be successful in your Network Marketing business? Want to also learn how to generate your own leads online? My Inner Circle Coaching Program may be just what you need. Or, maybe it's one on one coaching. Learn more about both at http://StreetSmartWealth.com/coach  And, http://DirectSalesBootcamp.com is open!  Check the podcast archives on the blog at JackieUlmer.com for previous episodes if you missed any or are new to the show.  I’m excited to share  with you that http://StreetSmartNetworker.com is now live. I have taken my 20 plus years of networking online and offline for success and created a training program to teach YOU how to create an endless stream of leads, prospects, sign ups and referral partners for your business.  A lot of people GO to networking events. But few know how to monetize them. Now, you can be one of those few.  Had a great conversation about Networking events with my interior designer, who hates networking events. Listen in as I share how that mindset of “Networking events don’t work” is a flawed thought process.  They DO work. Like crazy. I’ve been to networking events where over half the people there are in some type of Network Marketing company.  A lot has been going on around here lately and I am AMAZED at the show growth now that it is back in iTunes and has 300 episodes available to listen to on demand!  I’m going to be recycling some of my past shows, that are no longer archived there for Throwback Thursday. Stay tuned.  And, I have a HUGE favor to ask you - would you share this show with another?  Maybe one other person, or post it on your Facebook wall, or business page? Send out a tweet? Share it on instagram?  Growing the show is huge in getting the word out there to others about what success is and how they can have success.  Tag me in your Facebook post, or your tweet - @jackieulmer  I would love to publicly acknowledge you, too, for your support.  Also, join me over on my Facebook page for the Millionaire System series. I’m going through the 1 Minute Millionaire book and taking some concepts from it for you. It’s more than just money!  The Right Actions For Success  It doesn’t matter what business you are in, ACTION is a required part of the success equation.  Your actions will determine your level of success, day in and day out.  Using this week’s Mantra - My Actions Create my Prosperity - begin to get clear on what those action steps will be.  Success is built around leads and referrals, that convert to actual prospects, who we then guide down the path to educating them about us, our business, our services and what doing business together will mean.  How do we begin the process to get those leads?  I have a coaching client who I am working through this process right now.  She’s fairly new with her company and has a desire to go quickly, and she works a full time job.  So, we have laid out a business action plan of what she will do each day.   We have written out her scripts and success language, so she knows what to say each step of the way, including how she will answer the most common questions and objections.  And, we developed a rewards and accountability system for herself, as well as her family, so she is motivated to stay on track and accountability to those who she is building her business for.  Because she has limited time, we looked for small pockets of time throughout her day and week and planned exact steps so that at the end of the day, she feels accomplished and knows she has given her best to her business.  Before we worked through all of this, she was feeling stuck, and not at all in action because she was having a challenge finding blocks of time to work her business.  So, it was an all or nothing approach. If she had a busy day, and didn’t have an hour at night to work on her business, she was defaulting to doing nothing.  Now, she is on a system for success and knows what to do throughout her day. At this point, her true commitment is kicking in because she no longer has any question about what to do to work the business.  The only question becomes whether she will take the action; whether she will make excuses or make progress in her business.  A business never just builds itself. And, even with online tools, systems and attraction marketing, there are still required things that must be done.  What are the right actions for success in your business?  I have another client, who is in real estate. She’s been active for about 2 years, and, like many of my clients, she is a mom of busy, active children.  Join the club! We all are busy. That’s my least favorite thing to ever hear from someone.  I’m busy. I’ve been busy,  We all have the same 24 hours in a day. And, where we spend our time is what our priority is.  Sometimes that’s tough to hear, for me, too.  So, back to my Real Estate agent client.  We are laying out her social media plan, and working to develop her top 250 list. Those who will use, refer and promote her.  We all have one of those. Or, we require to if we really want to be successful.  We have put together a 52 week strategy for her, online and offline, and she is busy and in action.  She meets 2 people per week for coffee or lunch, just to catch up and reconnect. They go into a database so she can track and keep track of this list and where she is along the way.  This is not a connection per meetup to specifically talk about business, but as often happens, business and careers come up.  We’ve developed success language so she is clear on what to say to get her business out there, without being or feeling like she is selling.  She has a clear, defined follow up plan so she stays top of mind, and her social media marketing plan assists with this as well.  So, what will it take for you to define the right actions for success in your own business? I’m glad you asked….  Steps to define your action plan. Write this down.  What is required for success?  What time do you have?  Where are you currently struggling?  What will it take to move beyond that?  Now, act as if you have put the struggle behind you. Write out that action plan based on the first two questions.  And, if you desire assistance, let’s talk about some coaching to set up your plan, including success language, social media and follow up.  StreetSmartWealth.com/coach  I LOVE and appreciate reviews!  Go to JackieUlmer.com/itunes or JackieUlmer.com/stitcher to leave your review and be entered into a drawing for a free month of coaching.  Show notes http://JackieUlmer.com/305  I really do want to hear from you. I’m going through the 1 Minute Millionaire book and taking some concepts from it for you. It’s more than just money! Choosing Success in Your Business I choose to welcome success into my life. That’s our Monday Mantra and our mantra for the week. Say it, write it down, post it on Post It Notes and also repeat - I am choosing success in my business. Let’s talk a little bit about the power, and the fallacy in mantras and then I want to share some thoughts on what it means to be choosing success in your business. Mantras - they are talked about quite a bit, and they are powerful for a few things - Keeping you focused on where you are headed and where you want to be, instead of staying stuck in one spot. They are positive, they are uplifting and they can be a catalyst for shifting you to where you want to be. The fallacy of mantras is when one just blindly recites them, expecting THAT one act to make the change. It’s so much more than that. It’s FEELING your way to the success you want. It’s thinking about the mantra and the words you speak and feeling as if it were already true. Remember, the mind does not differentiate between what is real and imagined, UNLESS, you are blindly reciting something that you don’t feel at all aligned with. So, practice these mantras and do so in a way that allows you to feel what you are saying and where you want to be. Okay, so now that we are clear on that, let’s talk about Choosing Success in Your Business. What does that look and feel like for you? Success - it’s an interesting word and it means different things to different people. For most, it starts with that feeling of monetary success. Of starting something and taking the action necessary to create income; to create clients; referrals; team members; SALES. I was recently interviewed by John Milton Fogg, also known as the Greatest Networker in the World, for a group of Russian entrepreneurs. And, he asked me a question - what’s been the best thing for you about success in Direct Sales and your Home Business, and for me, with Social Media. And, my answer is simple - The money of course, was why I started. I wanted to create a better life for my children, my family and myself. I wanted to travel and enjoy life, and not feel the struggle. And, I achieved that. And, it’s been great. Beyond all of that, however, it’s the knowledge that I DID IT. That I accomplished my goal. That I did more than just talk about it - I did it. Along the way, I met amazing people and they are part of that success story. They ARE the success story. No matter what ever happens, I OWN that story.  What’s your story? What’s your story now, and the story you are passionate about creating? How focused are you on achieving that success and that story? How committed are you to achieving that success and that story? How do you FEEL about achieving that success and that story? How do you feel if you do NOT achieve that success and that story? How would you feel about being that top producing Real Estate agent in your office? Or the top recruiter and team builder in your Network Marketing company? How would you like being the top new comer in your insurance company? Do you know how simple it is to grow your own successful business? It’s starts with just a decision, and then a little plan. I am coaching a new real estate agent right now, and we are working through her fears first. Cleaning Up Your Facebook Profile   It’s easy to lose sight of the important things that matter on Facebook when your goal is to use it as a tool to grow your business; create brand awareness and an interest in you and potentially doing business together or referring you.   If you are like me, you set up your Facebook profile many years ago and may not have updated some key pieces that are important as you use it as a business calling card.   And, please do note that your Facebook Profile page is more valuable than your business card. IT’s one of the first places people will look to begin to research you, and learn more about you.   Here are some simple steps to take right now to begin cleaning up your Facebook Profile -   Take a good look at your profile picture. Does it represent you, your business and your brand the way you desire it to, in order to be an effective tool for you in business. IT should be clear, well lit, you and your face, and no one and nothing else.   Not your family, your friends, your dog, favorite pet, a product photo or a company logo.   Just you - it’s Facebook.   Next, take a look at your cover photo and I recommend looking at it on your smartphone as well as your computer, to make sure it looks correct on both.   What does it state about you, your business and your brand? It’s fine to change it out with holidays, special events and life’s happenings. Ideally, have one that shares an overall view of you, as a person and a business owner, and use this one most often.   Now, scroll down your left sidebar and pay attention to your Intro - what does it say? Is it enticing to inspire others to click to your About section? If not, spend some time sprucing it up!   Is the rest of the info on that left sidebar current?   Employment and Career Details? If possible, make sure you have it linked to YOUR business page. Click any highlighted links and make sure they are not dead ends, going to a page that doesn’t really exist.   I often see people with links to Home Business Owner or something random that highlights and is clickable, but takes one no where.   Also, make sure you are not linking to a company page that does not benefit YOU. This is especially true for my Real Estate and Direct Sales friends. Insurance agents may also want to explore this.   Click on your About section and this is where you are able to go in and clean anything up that requires an update.   Old Direct Sales companies or anything from the past that does not serve you is something you’ll want to delete.   People don’t have a ton of time to spend, so make your most current, relevant stuff pop and intrigue them.   Head on down through this page and you’ll see all kinds of stuff pop up that you may not have realized was linked in there, including Music, Movies, Books, Sports, and toward the bottom, you will find all of the Pages you have “Liked” over time. Do you still want to continue liking all of these? Now is the time to clean this up.   Right click and open each page in a new tab in a new window and decide of you want to stay or go. I took mine from 229 to 147 just as I was working on this show!   Ok, that’s enough homework for today. We’ll work on some other Social Media Strategies over time, and since Facebook is the grand daddy of them all, it’s a solid starting point!     Now, you are ready to get over to Facebook and begin cleaning up your Facebook Profile!     I LOVE and appreciate reviews!   Go to JackieUlmer.com/itunes or JackieUlmer.com/stitcher to leave your review and be entered into a drawing for a free month of coaching.   Show notes http://JackieUlmer.com/301   I really do want to hear from you. I have recently returned from my Moroccan journey, and I am forever changed in my love of spices.  The richness of the country, is in it's spices in my opinion.  I have never seen, tasted, or smelled such pungent, and varied flavors.  I wanted to record when I got home about all that I have seen, tasted, and hopefully share some cooking tips with my listeners from locals on the trip! I love to cook, and made finding some cooking classes while I was there a top priority.  In fact, the first night I arrived after my flight, I contacted a local family to see if I could join them for dinner, and help prepare the meal.  Khadija'a Kuzina was the easiest choice I had to make before I arrived.  They responded instantly, warmly, and accommodated me on short notice.  I met with them, and had a lovely meal of eggplant appetizer, salad, fresh squeeze juice, and lamb tagine with prunes and almonds. (MY FAV!) It was easily the best food I had in Morocco, and I helped make it, furiously scribbling down recipes, and notes as we cooked.   I felt an instant connection to the family, and can't wait to return to visit them again. Another excellent cooking class I attended was with Fatima, who cooks out of the Hotel Villa Maroc, and I truly enjoyed that she took us into the depths of the markets in Essaouira.  Even past what I like to call "Slaughter Alley", where all the live meat is butchered.  I will never look at chicken the same way again.  Fatima also explained certain spices that otherwise, we would not know what were used for, and that I wanted them in my own kitchen.  I myself picked up "top of the shop" spice called Ras el Hanout, a blend of over 70 spices that had me questioning whether I was going to clear US customs, because of how strong the aroma. Next I visited a spice shop in the town where the owners invited me in for tea.  We sat, and discussed his family, and how the spice shop immersed from an old record store.  We also discuss some Moroccan traditions, the favorite spices people use, and types of teas the locals drink daily. Essouira is also known for their Argan oil, using it for their skin, but also, surprisingly to me, in their cooking, and this is the only place I would purchase it.  It is a women's CoOp that are gaining their freedom, and being self sufficient by working this Argan facility.  We toured it, and met a ton of the ladies that work so hard every day.  The oil is incredible, and I mention the salad dressing recipe in the podcast. They DO deliver to the United States! So I don't have to go without it again! I am truly honored that these folks let me record with them on my travels, to peer into their lifestyles.  Cooking is a passion of mine, and I believe no matter how different the culture, sharing that love unites everyone. I cooked all the recipes I wrote down when I got home for a group of friends, and I am happy to report, that they turned out just the same as when I was there! You would be proud Khadija and Housine!  The bread, however, was a disaster.  Sometimes you can only have certain experiences while traveling.  Oh well, to the next adventure! Here is the recipe for the prunes that Khadija was describing in the podcast below!  Try them with your next tagine! 1 cup prunes 1 tablespoon cinnamon pinch of salt 1 tablespoon rose water 1/2 cup honey 1/2 tablespoon tumeric 1 cup water Cook down until syrupy and soft (AMAZING) Follow Marta On The Move on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook! Here are the top foods you should try in Morocco! Harira-A Traditional Soup Cous Cous- A grain based main dish in Morocco Pastila- A sweet and savory stuffed pastry, found a lot in street food.  Could be stuffed with Pigeon or chicken. Zalook- Eggplant salad made with tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, parsley, lemon. Served as a salad or appetizer Grilled Sardines- Nuf said.  Get them near the coast. Delish! Macooda- Fried potato balls (Street food) Tagine- My absolute favorite! Order the lamb with prunes. Steamed Sheep Head- I haven't tried this, but it is on my list for next time! Had a great conversation about Networking events with my interior designer, who hates networking events. Listen in as I share how that mindset of “Networking events don’t work” is a flawed thought process. They DO work. Like crazy. I’ve been to networking events where over half the people there are in some type of Network Marketing company. Trust Your Gut in Building Your Solopreneur Business Have you ever had that absolute sense of knowing that you are on to something SOLID? And your gut is telling you that you are good to go, and to go for it? Did you feel that way when you started to build your own business? Maybe it’s in Direct Sales, or Real Estate? Maybe some told you that you were crazy, and to get your head out of the clouds? Or that it would never work? I had plenty of people tell me that when I decided to build my Network Marketing business online. I began building a Direct Sales home business (offline) in 1994, and in 1999, I took my business to the Internet. I was an average home based business owner (a mom with two pre-school aged children, a husband gone half the month and a huge desire for more, ha!) before the Internet. I was not setting any records. I had success and did make money, but much of it was a struggle; much of it consisted of ways of doing the business that did not appeal to me. I made my warm market list; contacted people and developed the skills I needed to talk to people about my business. I joined networking groups, the Chamber of Commerce and did all of the traditional methods you hear about. I struggled with contacting people in the beginning, and never wanted to be someone who chased my friends, family, neighbors and anyone who came within "3 feet of me!" Heard that story before? I was just a stay-at-home mom who wanted to create something more for my family and future. I didn’t want my husband to have the stress of supporting a family of 4 on one income. I didn’t want to leaf through travel magazines and wish we could travel, too. That was it! I was greener than green. Here are words and concepts I knew nothing about - URL – had no idea what that term meant. Domain name – See above. Auto responder – that sounded WAY too techie to even think about. Even lead capture or splash page. Search Engine, Optimize, Pay Per Click – all foreign terms. Social Media Marketing – that term didn't even exist!!! Here is what I did know – The facts and figures associated with this growing phenomenon called The Internet was/is staggering. I wanted to be a part of it. I knew it was the answer to my prayers for growing a successful business. I knew this was going to be my ticket to success in MLM. I knew that it was going to take some effort, and it would be the best decision I would ever make. I knew this was how a stay-at-home mom with small children was going to make Network Marketing work! I was sold. And, there was no turning back for me. I rolled up my sleeves and got busy. Here’s what happened – it exceeded my wildest expectations. It created exactly what I wanted in a business from home and in Network Marketing, Information and Affiliate Marketing. It allowed me to toss my advertising and paid leads list; stop hanging out in coffee shops waiting to be no-showed by my prospect; stop spending hours at weekly meetings; and, it allowed me to have my business out in front of big numbers of people without even needing to be physically present. Pinch me! It was a dream come true, and quite honestly, I’m still lost in the dream! Except, it is really happening. Today, I am hired to coach and train not only those in Direct Sales, but also Real Estate Agents, Mortgage Lenders, Solopreneurs, and many others. Because like I knew nearly 18 years ago that my audience was going to the internet looking for answers, they know THEIR audience is there, too! Old School methods will always work. And, never bury your head in the sand to new school techniques either. That’s why it’s always important to trust your gut in Building Your Solopreneur Business I LOVE and appreciate reviews! Have you missed me (GRIN!) Let’s start with writing down our Monday Mantra - I stay focused on my true desire. I have really been tested around this topic lately, which makes this Mantra so fitting. First - iTunes and the Podcast. I have had some major website challenges with “instability” and iTunes kicked me out of the store this past week, after my “RSS Feed” for my podcast began going up and down. Techie stuff is NOT my strength or forte, and I am still in the process of getting it fixed. And, I WILL get it fixed. I had a choice when it happened. Freak out; fall into a deep pit of despair, since it is a major source of leads and traffic, or take a deep breath, repeat the mantra and remember that above all, I am on track with the topic - Staying Flexible Building Your Solopreneur Business!” People quit, people say no, websites go up and down. Shizzle happens! How we react controls everything. I am fully focused on my end goal and true desire, so I am not going to get frazzled by the little things that are fixable. Have you read Rich Dad, Poor Dad or Cashflow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki? I read these in 1998 ish and they changed my whole perspective on what I am building. I am building a business asset for the long haul. Are you? When you know what you love, desire and are working toward, it’s easy to push through the little challenging obstacles and just keep going!! You just have tunnel vision when you have a goal.  Keep going, no matter what. As I mention on the show, I have some shifts going on in my business. I would love to discuss these with you if you are open and looking. http://WorkWithJackie.com - and let’s have a conversation! You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 300. I’ve heard it said that there are really only two emotions - Love and Fear. Everything else falls under one of these two emotions. If you think about it, it makes sense.  If you aren’t moving forward in your Network Marketing business, it could be due to fear. Is Fear Holding You Back in Your Direct Sales Business? This week’s Mantra is - Between Love and Fear, I choose Love. Need some coaching to move you forward? My one on one and inner circle programs are LIVE! I’ve bene to networking events where over half the people there are in some type of Network Marketing company. Is Fear Holding You Back in Your Direct Sales Business Between Love and Fear, I choose Love. Think about emotions and the concept of just two - Love and Fear. When we are having success, it is wrapped up in excitement, joy, enthusiasm, feeling good. All of these ways of describing it fall under the emotional umbrella of Love. Kind of makes sense, doesn’t it? When we are not having success, we can usually point to fear, procrastination, frustration, anger, feelings of inadequacy and more. And, we can get caught up in envy, resentment, jealousy, even. These are all wrapped under the emotional umbrella of fear. We procrastinate out of fear. We feel frustrated because we are having fear, that is holding us back from taking those steps. We do two things - and both involve connecting with another human being to see if they might be interested or know someone who is. Think about that. When you break it down to its simplicity, you could talk to people literally all day. Pick any shopping mall and get busy. But, we seldom do that.  And why? We have fear. What will they say? What will they think?  If you learn the right skill sets though, we don’t ever have to worry about that. We know what to say to build rapport. With anyone, anywhere. We know how to share what we do and ask for referrals, if they are not interested. We know how to follow up and stay consistent with that. And, ideally we do all of that from a feeling of love, and excitement, and joy at what effect this might have on the person to whom we are speaking. Fear, though is about Ego, and we are ego based when our main thought is about ourselves. When you make your list and begin to contact those on the list to share your excitement about your products and the business, are you choosing to share with love? Before each contact, simply say - Between Love and Fear, I choose Love. Fear is normal, natural and there is probably not a person on the planet who will say they have not had fear at some point in their business. Fear is a constant for many of us. Courage is not the absence of fear, but the desire for something greater and therefore a willingness to push through fear. I did not say get over fear. I said push past it. What steps will you take to push through your fear. To land on the other side where all great things are? Is Fear Holding You Back in Your Direct Sales Business? Maybe at one time, but no more! You’re Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 298. This week's Mantra and affirmation is - One Small positive thought can change my whole day. Change Your Thoughts and Explode Your Direct Sales Business One Small positive thought can change my whole day. Become aware of your thoughts. Become aware of your feelings. If you aren’t having the success you want in Network Marketing, what are you thinking and saying about this? Name the top the things in your life that you are spending most of your time thinking about these days. Write them down. Now, think about how you think about these things. Are you mostly having positive or negative thoughts? And, hoe much of your day is spent thinking about these things? Begin to consciously shift the statements or questions you have around these issues. Questions - How might I…. What do I require to know to…. Who do I aspire to become… What quality in me will attractive right people to my network marketing business? How might I appeal to more people? Each day, I am getting better and better. With each action step I take in my business. What would be the worst that could happen? And, would I survive it? What would be the best that could happen? I used a hairband around my wrist and would pull it back and snap it on my wrist when I caught myself thinking negatively. I was recently talking to someone at a networking event who found out what I do, and say - Oh, I’ve never been good at Network Marketing. I simply asked - “Why? Why do you think you have not been good at network marketing?” My goal is not to change her mind, but instead just to listen and see where the conversation leads us.  “My friends and family are different…” So, remember this - One Small positive thought can change my whole day. Say it, practice it and feel it within your whole body! Why do I care more about what someone else thinks of me and my ego around it, than I do of my own desire to be successful? Tax Accountant View Of Financials Contractors View Of The Numbers And Tax Accountants View Are Different Tax Accountants Review Financial Statements After The Year Has Ended The Tax Accountant’s Role Is To Review The Previous Year Financial History based on the information provided create and file the Annual Federal Tax Return, Annual State Tax Return, and other Local or Payroll Returns. Washington State is a sales tax driven state. Other states have a State Income Tax, and others yet have a blend of both. The Contractors Role Is To Review What Is Happening Now and make Strategic Decisions about what to know in order to have a brighter financial future. The best way to do that is to have QuickBooks Setup to deliver your 5 Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in 5 minutes a day at 5 pm or whatever time is best for you. We call them the 5 At 5 For 5, and we can set them up in your QuickBooks for you! Click here to learn more. Every Construction Contractor Should Have A Tax Accountant Prepare And File Your Annual Tax Returns Congress passes a ton of laws which each one could have zillion pages with addendums and other attachments that will make all the individual bills even harder to understand. Tax Accountants need to keep track of all of these changes. Changes – Question is What impacts Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. A single bill may include all three possibilities. The condensed Version of the U.S. Master Tax Guide [year] (copies provided by your local Payroll Services) is very similar to size and font of the OSHA Book. In other words, the U.S. Master Tax Guide is  “Fat” like how the telephone books used to be. When discussing the U.S. Master Tax Guide, it is a book  and can be described as a “Thick Book With Very Tiny Print.”   Just The Book that everyone wants to read on a warm, cold, hot, sunny, rainy, cloudy Saturday afternoon. (Not - for those who might be missing my humor). I have copies of several years of U.S. Master Tax Guides, and every one of them is 1000 pages. Remember this is the condensed version referencing only the Most Common tax issues. I expect my Tax Accountant to know The Answer to everything that I may encounter and how to properly deal with it on my annual tax return.         Once The Tax Accountant Has Your Financial Statements It Is All “After The Fact” Accounting. The end of the year has passed. Many of us automatically file an extension so it may be closer to September so “The Past” really is the past.  Way past time to say, I wish I had done this instead. You can say it – It just won’t change the outcome of previous decisions. There are limited “things” the Tax Accountant can move, change or adjust. The year is over. The real question is “How Much Do I Have To Pay?” If you have paid into the Internal Revenue Service via W-2 or Estimated Taxes, hopefully, the amount due will be close to Zero.   Tax Accountants Are Busy, And Everyone Wants Their Returns Filed. Yes, you can be the first one on your block to get your taxes done but is that a good idea? In my opinion, as a business owner, you do not want your Tax Accountant to roar through your tax return, get it done quick, without really reviewing your individual circumstances. Side note, those with College Students on Financial Aid always need to have their returns completed early to meet the Federal Deadlines.       Everyone usually receives from their Tax Accountant a “Tax Booklet” with check sheets to help prepare for documents the Tax Accountant needs to complete the Annual Tax Return. Usually, this Tax Booklet is geared towards what the Tax Accountant needs to complete the Personal Return.     Tax Accountant is hoping everything is in the Business Financial Statements and there are just a few things left to do to be able to complete the annual Business Return. Tax Accountants Are Paid To Fill Out Tax Returns Not Save You Money Or Mentor You We Are Paid To Do Your Contractor Bookkeeping Your Profit And Growth Mentor   Tax Preparers Normally Only Do The Following: · Figure Out The Vehicle and Equipment Depreciation · Look for missing expenses (usually not very hard) · Ask for Cash Receipts (only in passing) · Review Meals and Entertainment (big-ticket meals or excessive meals) · Review for items that are really Owner Draws, Loan to Members or Loans To Shareholders · Owner Equity put into the company (only if they see it) · Other Assets (Job Deposits | WIP) · Other Liabilities (Short or Long Term Notes) · Petty Cash (will ask if you have Cash On Hand) · Suspense (should be cleared out to Zero) · Ask My Accountant (need to have receipts and details to help identify who, what it is for) · Anything that looks Odd (Tax Accountant does not want an audit, so it is better you overpay taxes) Tax Accountants Work With Messy And Incomplete Records To Do Their Job They appreciate a good set of Financials from a Contractors Bookkeeping Services (Fast Easy Accounting). Sometimes Tax Accountants have to be the “Big Person” and refuse future service until the bookkeeping is in a more organized set of financials that they can use. The last thing a Tax Accountant wants is an audit. Finally, the Tax Accountant is ready to start all over and review your Personal Income and Deductions, and then they are able to produce for you two Annual Tax Returns. Depends on the individual returns, and when you are filing whether you can file the returns electronically. Hopefully, you have paid enough in personally to be able to receive a refund.      Tax Accountants Rarely Have Time To Give You More Than The Basics toward Tax Planning beyond the different IRA’s and 401K’s. The Reality is that most of the time The Contractor is ready to leave because the whole process is similar to going to The Doctor. The entire experience of taxes leaves you the Contractor feeling exposed. You know that funny feeling where you have on “The Gown” and your blood pressure immediately rises when the doctor walks in and closes the door. Contractors View of the Financial Statements Contractors are just a little bit annoyed if they want real answers about their business and discover the Tax Accountant is really good at rolling up the numbers and having a Tidy Tax Return but most of them are clueless about construction.   The Contractor wonders why if they are both looking at the same numbers on the Financial Statements that the Tax Accountant cannot or will not be more helpful with answers needed in running their business.   The Short Answer Is There Is A Vast Difference Between Regular Accounting and Construction Accounting. Tax Accountants are a generalist and understand Regular Accounting. Tax Accountants have to be to be able to complete the maximum number of client’s tax return. In their world, the expenses are similar for all businesses. It starts out with Income – Expenses = Net Income or Net Loss. The bottom line number on a Schedule C is Net Income or Loss and is the same for all the businesses. S-Corps have its own return with the numbers passing through to your personal annual Tax Return.    My opinion is Tax Accountants like Personal Tax Returns better because they are like sweet, decadent desserts; whereas Contractor's Business Tax Returns are the vegetables (which is great if you love vegetables) because they have to deal with the Contract's Business Tax Return before they can get to the fun stuff. Or maybe it is just a business decision because everyone has a Personal Tax Return and only some of us have a Business Tax Return.   All phases of accounting and bookkeeping are a specialty including Tax Accounting, General Accounting, and Construction Accounting. Generally, Contractors Are Not Trying To Play “Stump The Wizard” when they are asking the Tax Accountant questions about their Financial Statements. Many contractors will have their Tax Accountant prepare Payroll, Payroll Tax Reports, State and Local Tax Reports (sales tax). Does the Tax Accountant understand your business, even a little bit? If the Tax Accountant does not work with sales tax issues on a regular basis, the contractor may have to explain the rules that impact them to their Tax Accountant. Each state is different is what and how they collect State and Local taxes. The most common thing is that “They Do.” The most basic question Contractors ask is “Am I Making Money Or Losing Money”? The next question is “Where Did I Make Money? It should be an easy question to answer. Unfortunately, when everyone is doing everything but tracking the paperwork and the money there are no answers to be found.   Without A System, It Is Impossible To Know If Your Employees Are Wasting Time And If Material Is Being Wasted This does not mean having a drone flying overhead watching their every move to start with by asking 5 simple questions: 1.    Do they have the Right Tools and Equipment? 2.    Do they know your expectations? 3.    Do they feel they are being paid fairly? 4.    Are they a Willing Worker and doing the job? 5.    Will they use an electronic Time Card? (T-Sheets) Part of the role of Management is knowing “What 10 Minutes Waste Costs You”In Washington State, the Worker’s Compensation rate is set by the individual tasks and then calculated by the hours worked. Other states have similar ways to calculate Workers Compensation or Insurance. In most states, Laborers and Apprentices have the exact same Worker’s Compensation rate as the Lead Person on the job.  Skill level is different, and the Contractor is always balancing the Cost of Wages against Value of The Skill of Each Worker.   Contractors are always faced with variables including costs that continue to rise after the bid has been accepted. One little hurricane can impact the cost of building material across the country. One little snow storm and delay truckers and the goods they carry. One little bit of sunshine is okay for days but months and months where is it not normal can be a huge deal. In Winter, you expect snow in the mountains to go skiing, rain in the Spring for flowers, the sun in the Summer to play, and a little frost in the Fall on the pumpkins.   With changing weather patterns, we all need to adapt. We are in the greater Puget Sound (Seattle area), and for years it was 350 days of rain, winter rain, spring rain, fall rain, maybe 15 days of summer. Today it snowed! Last week it snowed and the week before it snowed. Good News, the snow did not stay long and for the most part did not impact schools. At the same time, other places around the USA had different experiences.  Contractors Play A Type Of Sports Game Every Day Without The Rewards Of A Fat Guaranteed Contract. They go Up To Bat, Jump Through Hoops, Run Down The Field all in hopes of securing The Call, Creating The Bid, Closing The Sale, Preforming The Work, Getting Paid. Have a Life.   Contractors want to know “Are I Making Money” or “Losing Money” now “Which Job?”   Should I be doing “More of This” and “Less of That?” Sometimes is a little hard for The Contractor to be Happy and Full of Smiles when a project Goes Over Budget, you have Given Away Free Change Orders to Keep The Customer Happy and Discovered Material Is Way Over Budget.   If The Contractor has 30 day accounts the final bills are still coming in after the project is complete. If it is a Time and Material billing and the final invoice was created too soon; it is almost impossible to get additional funds from the customer. It is by exception, that additional funds can be collected and always get signed Change Orders and paid promptly over waiting to the end of the project.      Many times, Contractors think they have made money based on the fact that all the bills got paid and there was some money left over. With poor bookkeeping, it is hard to know because the checking account may be reflecting checks that have not cleared, deposits from the next job, personal funds deposited back into the account to cover last minutes’ expenses and forgotten.   Good Construction Bookkeeping is the solution A little bit of effort towards Job Costing can be very helpful in understanding the numbers. The Key is asking the Right Professional the right question. Tax Accountants understand how to roll all the numbers up from the different aspects of your personal and business life into a summary Tax Return for the Internal Revenue Service. Construction Accountants understands the numbers in your business and where to properly put them. Your Banker looks at both sets of numbers and decides if you are credit worthy for a loan. Get a Board of Advisors NOW! The Contractor and Contractor’s Spouse look at the numbers and either Smile and say “WOW” or Frown and Say “Ouch” “Oh Crap” or something much more descriptive.   No matter which way the numbers are from Fantastic to In The Toilet The Next Step is Now What Do We Do?   We are here to help. Day 66! My Website Hosting Journey with 5 Hosts in 5 Years?

Would you believe how challenging it has been for me to find a website hosting provider that works within the limitations of my business online? When I started my business 5 years ago, cost was a huge factor and branding played a big part in my decision. I did my own research and chose some hosting provider I had never heard of before. There hosting was a nightmare for my WordPress website and I switched next to Google sites. While their hosting was outstanding, the content management system they use is in house and very limiting in features. From Google Sites I moved to a HostGator dedicated server which was fast with 100 visitors or so per day but cost over $4,000 a year. To save money and accept that my business did not merit a dedicated server, I switched to GoDaddy VPS which was horrible. When I tried to cancel, GoDaddy sold me on managed WordPress which is exactly what I needed. With a few hundred visitors a day and not taking orders on my website, my GoDaddy worked good. Once I hit 1,000+ visitors a day with many customers trying to place orders in my website, everything came tumbling down. Customers were being charged twice, order pages were not loading, and suddenly I found that GoDaddy had no option to even upgrade. I almost switched to BlueHost after they made me a custom affiliate offer of $80 per sign up but then in the processing of switching the entire experience was horrible. While GoDaddy had done a free migration live on the phone from HostGator, BlueHost charges $199 to migrate a website and the chat support did not even tell me I could order it with my plan. After making this episode in complete frustration, I was inspired to do more research. After hours more of Googling and reading post after post linking to affiliate program after affiliate program and remembering this podcast episode, I thought why not see if Google has a WordPress hosting solution? It turns out THEY DO using the Google Cloud Program or GCP. This service is similar to Amazon Web Services or AWS in that it is cloud based computing. My experience with Google sites taught me that Google is unmatched for fast hosting and a few times Googling Google WordPress Hosting led me to google "Managed WordPress Hosting with Google Cloud" which led me to Kinsta. Kinsta apparently hosts many huge websites like those by Intuit, creator of Turbotax and owner of Mint.com. While Kinsta does not have a plan for less than $100 a month, they offer top tier speed and scaling according to an independent and not affiliated review website. They offer a simple setup by hosting through Google Cloud Platform which removes the difficulties of setting my own WordPress installation up there. What I hope you get out of this episode is seeing the value of persistence and continuing to keep asking deeper questions. It is no coincidence that just an hour after doing this episode and crying in frustration, I found the hosting solution I needed. My exercise for this episode was to practice gratitude for having so many easy to choose from options which is exactly what I did which led me to signup with Kinsta right after messaging BlueHost to cancel and provide a full refund. I appreciate you reading this and hope this episode of Happier People podcast is helpful for you! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jerrybanfield/support

英语有声儿童童话故事 海的女儿 第19章 “Why have not we immortal souls?” asked the little mermaid, mournfully. “I would gladly give all the hundreds of years that I have to live,to be a human being only for one day and to have the hope of knowing thehappiness of that glorious world above the stars.”“You must not think that,” saidthe old woman. “We believe that we are much happier and much better off thanhuman beings.”“So I shall die,” said the littlemermaid, “and as the foam of the sea I shall be driven about, never again tohear the music of the waves or to see the pretty flowers or the red sun? Isthere anything I can do to win an immortal soul?”“No,” said the old woman; “unlessa man should love you so much that you were more to him than his father or hismother, and if all his thoughts and all his love were fixed upon you, and thepriest placed his right hand in yours, and he promised to be true to you hereand hereafter—then his soul would glide into your body, and you would obtain ashare in the future happiness of mankind. He would give to you a soul andretain his own as well; but this can never happen. Your fish's tail, whichamong us is considered so beautiful, on earth is thought to be quite ugly. Theydo not know any better, and they think it necessary, in order to be handsome,to have two stout props, which they call legs.”

This second episode ably builds upon the first. Last week we met pretty much everyone we need to know to get us through the story. (If anybody else shows up, I'm going to call cheating on the Duffer Brothers.) This week, we get to see: Mike's E.T.-inspired introduction of the world outside Hawkins Labs to a wide-eyed Elle Lucas' low tolerance for supernatural shenanigans Dustin's quick-witted ability to cause a distraction (bang-BANG!) Steve Harrington's best moves (not counting those using a stuffed bear) Jonathon's unsupervised nocturnal activities -and- The true meaning of friendship, as demonstrated by our resident slave to raging hormones, Nancy. With only 8 episode this season, no episode can spend much time on any one character. This episode goes a long way to defining who the main characters are without a lot of exposition. They DO the things that tell us who they are, making it very watchable. And just when you think you've seen everything this episode has to offer... Barb. Direct iTunes link! We start with the White Folks across the Pond who decided they would rather burn down their entire economy than have any more Brown folks move next door, and jump right over to America where our own White Folks are starting shitter fires at the Tractor Pull. (We're WAY past dumpster fires here folks) . We give a shout out to our Sister Show on the Fast Eddies' Podcast Hut Network, “Ere, what up in yer gob yah bleedin' sod” hosted by Reggie Smythwick Jones--what up Reg! We go over little things like the Civil War, Gavin's tragic choice to try online dating, and how you are forced to break Godwin's Law when you discuss working at an Amazon distro warehouse. We ALSO provide some fairly simple solutions to the biggest problems afflicting White People in America and they do NOT require internment camps, given up their guns, or being converted to homosexuality. They DO require voting for Hillary Clinton, so I expect they will think this is equally awful. We open the show with Trumpiest Trump Supporter Who Ever Trumped, this week and close out with Bocephus telling us all it will all right if you don't go anywhere near where you might actually find a job. Open access router network? The People’s Romance: Why People Love Government (as Much as They Do) by Daniel B. Klein http://www.independent.org/publications/tir/article.asp?a=536 ; http://www.independent.org/pdf/tir/tir_10_1_1_klein.pdf "Why do some people never support a free-market proposal, even when they think it would work better than government intervention? For many, the reason is that collective political action offers the romantic notion that 'we’re all working together,' while market mechanisms seem to them less lofty because they rely on the self-interest of individuals acting privately." (D.K.) TPR (the people's romance) encourages governmental intervention for its own sake Pundits constantly conflate Americans with government, i.e., the people in government who rule over them Fearing, revering, and worshipping power and the process of indoctrinating a public that kowtows to "authority"--main aspects of TPR Encompassing sentiment coordination of the WHOLE group, whether you like it or not, is the nature of TPR In actuality, there are no "citizens" and there is no "State"--both are arbitrary collectivistic and legal abstractions that lead to coercive control of rights-respecting people and distortion and destruction of entire economies Without imposing a communized infrastructure, government would lose all perceived legitimacy The in-group and out-group dynamic is also part of TPR--the out-group must be either shunned or subdued Libertarian aphorism: The are two types of people--those who want to be left alone and those who won't leave them alone Most slaves don't like seeing other slaves trying to break free of their shackles--so they attack them and keep all enslaved TPR lives off coercion The conceptual common denominator between fanciful Objectivist government and actual government is the coercive monopolization of its "services" Feelings are tools of evaluation, not tools of cognition; people can have "joyous" feelings based on a whole host of contradictions--though they betray their true selves, their authentic selves The three types of libertarians: classical liberals; laissez-faire capitalists (or minarchists); anarcho-capitalists, or market anarchists, or voluntarists (or agorists) TPR lies at the heart of communism The differences between working for a communist boss and a capitalist boss are immense, although oftentimes diminished in a mixed economy like today's Statists are afflicted with slavespeak (http://www.buildfreedom.com/tl/tl07a.htm) and the Stockholm Syndrome (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome) The fatuous superstition of "the consent of the governed" leads to "being greater than kings and less than men" (de Toqueville) Taxation is an extortion racket to no end Lysander Spooner's 1840's attempt at competing with monopoly gang of the USPS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysander_Spooner#Early_years_and_the_postal_monopoly Statists' version of a "civilized society" is one in which rights-respecting people are forced to do things against their wills--oh so civilized, isn't it! Penn & Teller: Bullshit!: Recycling http://www.sho.com/site/schedules/product.do?episodeid=121062&seriesid=134&seasonid=0 or watch here (though may go defunct) http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/92358/detail/ http://www.videosift.com/video/Penn-Teller-Bullshit-Recycling Understanding property rights yields a better environment Property Is An Extension Of Self-Ownership http://completeliberty.com/chapter3.php#68 Psychology of Ownership http://www.logicallearning.net/libpsychologyofo.html Regulatory "policies bind people together, like a bundle of sticks" (D.K.) Failing to strike the root of the welfare state...Dr. No's statist insanity: Immigration Reform in 2006? by Ron Paul http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul343.html Free trade brings respectful relations with former strangers Advocates of TPR abhor people withdrawing their participation by pursuing private interests The "war on terrorism" is the "new giant in the parade of war frauds" (D.K.) What Michael Phelps Should Have Said: Smoking pot shouldn't be a crime. Or the public's business by Radley Balko http://www.reason.com/news/show/131438.html Contrast mj with alchohol toxicity: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetrahydrocannabinol#Toxicity The four proposed origins of TPR: 1) Socio-biological and cultural evolution [though there are no innate ideas] The Early Human Condition: http://www.logicallearning.net/libearlyhumancon.html 2) Society as family, government as parent Radical unschooling is the most enlightened and respectful method of parenting, thus enabling a future society of complete liberty; Dayna Martin: What is Radical Unschooling? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiHyzS26N0Y 3) Society as being, government as head We need better integration and understanding of the facets of self; The Art of Self-Discovery http://www.nathanielbranden.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=38 4) Society as organization, government as director The ills of identifying with the coercive gang and seeing their orders as legitimate Pursuing one's rational self-interest entails respecting the rights of other people Common decency entails respect for persons, property, and agreements Libertarian principles cannot engender TPR Wealth and technology enable people to withdraw and resist statism (http://freestateproject.org as a product of info tech) The process and goals of civil disobedience--coupled with education in libertarian principles Very commendable site: http://cdevolution.org/ Liberty lovers must raise "law enforcers'" awareness of the moral issues and make it unbearable for them (and statists in general) to pretend that their activities are legitimate, noble, and just Police and courts depend on individual rights-violators to rationalize their own rights-violating gang--thus perpetuating their immoral scheme of unjust laws Reaching out to the silent majority of Americans who share the libertarian credo of common decency is key to good activism :) bumper music "Spanish Romance" by Liona Boyd - First Lady of Guitar (Album: The Best of Liona Boyd) http://www.classicalguitar.com/ to comment, please go to http://completeliberty.com/magazine/category/91697
