Hoo boy, where do we even start with this one? In 2017, Ash Avildsen, the head of Sumerian Records and son of the guy who directed Rocky, conjured into this world American Satan against all of our wishes. Chronicling the rise of badly named fake band The Relentless, it is posited as a retelling of Faust. It's more or less a teenage male's fantasy of being a rockstar, and a surprisingly low-quality one at that, in as much as it looks like shit. This flick's morals are dubious at best and it boasts some absolutely bonkers covers, in addition to a full roster of Sumerian Records bands and Larry King in his final screened appearance. You'll learn how to fail upward with the Devil and you get Bill Goldberg as a tour manager. All the while excusing and encouraging straight-up misogyny and pushing the ew factor out the wazoo. Did we mention mega creep Drake Bell is in this too? In order to see how this stacks up against actual life on the road as a touring band, Dylan brought on Connor Appleton from Come Mierda to suffer Sumerian-style through the trials and tribulations of The Relentless. Content warning: sexual assault discussed Track featured is "Warzone" by Come Mierda off their demo. Check em out here!

We'll be straight-up here. This isn't really a horror movie. However, we here at Fried Squirms still find this retelling of Faust, complete with Sex, Drugs, and ample amounts of Rock n' Roll (not to mention a devilishly amazing Malcolm McDowell as Mr. Capricorn cough Satancough) to be one of the more fun versions of the tale we've ran across. Bonus for fans of Black Veil Brides and/or Asking Alexandria, it stars Andy Biersack and Ben Bruce! So rock along with us to find out what the Squirms thought of American Satan. Jamie Berndette returns to the Wicked Horror Show to discuss her latest project "The Furnace".This episode is sponsored by Deadly Grounds Coffee "Its good to get a little Deadly" https://deadlygroundscoffee.comThe fit and fierce Mary Harris could not have been happier, marrying her running partner, Matt. Until a truck hits their car. A year later, Mary is all but incapacitated by both the loss of her husband, and the use of one lung. Forced to wheel around an oxygen cylinder, Mary no longer feels the joy that running once brought her. A grave digger, named Coffin (a nickname easier to say than his African name), notices the haunted, angry woman. He shares with her the story of his own loss, and his qualification as a doctor. Mary agrees to let this wise gravedigger train her, despite her stubborn outlook. The Furnace is the extraordinary story of just what it takes to heal yourself, and restore your faith. For Mary, it's an ultra-marathon through the harsh African bush-veld.https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7951038/?ref=ttplpl_ttFollow Jamie: https://www.instagram.com/jamiebernadette https://www.facebook.com/jamiebernadette https://twitter.com/jamiebernadettJamie's leading role in the horror film "The 6th Friend", which she also produced and co-wrote, has garnered her many Best Actress awards on the film festival circuit and the film has also won many Best Feature Film awards. This week on Junk Food Dinner we left our movie picks up to the Patreon donors and the cruel hand of the Randomizer 5000 and ended up with three very different movies.Up first, is the 1971 Russian science fiction classic Solaris. This film about an astronaut suffering from space madness is considered a masterpiece by fans of weighty, arty sci-fi but will Andrei Tarkovsky's aggressively slow pacing be too much for the JFD boys? Then, Lance Henriksen summons a demon to get revenge on the teens who accidentally killed his son in Stan Winston's special effects heavy horror flick Pumpkinhead from 1988. And finally, a post-hardcore emo band made up of Brits and Midwesterners move to L.A to make it big, but when things don't go as planned they make a deal with The Devil (Malcolm McDowell) to become mega-stars. But like all Faustian deals, things don't go as expected in American Satan from 2017.All this plus witty banter between friends, a slew of Junk Mail, news about Young Charles, critiques of Nicholas Cage's clothing choices, this week's blu-rays and so much more. This week the gang welcomes back Spicy Kristen the Lizard Queen to talk about Johnny Faust from the under-the-radar film American Satan! It's a Hell of a good time as they parallel Johnny's quest in this retelling of the classic German legend, updated with a lot more rock music, cocaine, and Malcolm McDowell. The gang also recounts the tale of the night they went to the premiere and met some of the cast and the director. All this, plus a new battle, science, wine, and Agent Nicole files on this week's episode of Throwdown Thursday!

The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Director & Writer Ash Avildsen of AMERICAN SATAN. director Ash Avildsen, the son of Academy Award winning director John Avildsen (ROCKY, THE KARATE KID), and I would love to set up an interview with you and Ash to share his incredible and inspiring story about how he recently met his father and reunited with him shortly before John's passing this year. Ash is now carrying the torch passed to him by his famous dad by directing the new film AMERICAN SATAN (in theaters now and VOD this February) starring HBO's "Game of Thrones" star John Bradley, Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange), BooBoo Stewart (Twilight), Olivia Culpo (The Other Woman), Mark Boone Jr (Sons of Anarchy) and more. Helmed by director & writer Ash Avildsen AMERICAN SATAN tells the story of a young rock band, half from England half from the US, who move to the Sunset Strip to chase their music dreams. Living in a van, their passion and talent exceed their means to survive when an enigmatic stranger (Malcolm McDowell) preys on the emotional turmoil of lead singer Johnny Faust (Andy Biersack) who has just learned of his mother's (Denise Richards) grave illness. Manipulating this time of weakness for the band, he offers them a deal that will set them on a path of fame, fortune, and ultimately dark destruction. Caught in the middle of a pact with the devil himself, their music and controversial altercations end up influencing society beyond anything this century has seen.

Sumerian Records proprietor Ash Avildsen is our guest this week. You might know him from an array of different projects, whether you are a fan of his music, the bands on his label, his pioneering touring packages like Summer Slaughter or the recent movie What Now and soon-to-come American Satan. We started our chat by celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Summer Slaughter Tour with Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Suffocation, After the Burial and plenty more, but as is our tendency, we stray from the path into his interesting history with women, his family and the dynamics it take to be successful in today's business. We also attempt to unpack the unprecedented divisiveness we are seeing in the metal community. It's not just cvlt vs. posers -- or any of those age-old separations that seem to be creeping into the world of metal the past couple years -- but a much more scary form of racism and misogyny that's fighting back in a way we haven't seen before. Is this indicative of the anti-PC movement we are seeing play out on the political stage? Or is it simply the playing field of today's industry which we need to accept and move on?
