Strive to have a positive mental attitude.  Learn acceptance. We fight so hard against things that are out of our control. Learn to be open to the challenges we face and allow things to happen they way they will.  It's okay to be afraid but do what scares you anyway. Focus your attention on courage and not on fear.  In most things in life, you will survive. Everything will be okay Things might not turn out how you want them to, but they always turn out better.  Be resilient! Keep having hope and being open to how things are. Continue to live life and build your resilience muscle. This will make you more prepared for hardships that come up along the way We all have limitations but there is always a way to overcome them. In today's News: LCMS helps Cambodian church This summer, the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod (LCMS) partnered with the Cambodia Lutheran Church (CLC) and several other Lutheran organizations to assist local Cambodians suffering economic hardship as a result of covid-19. CLC pastors and church leaders delivered a month’s supply of basic food staples to more than 350 families during May, June and July. In the Asia region, Cambodia has been particularly hard hit by the economic downturn caused by the shutdown. Tourism, which provides countless jobs in the country, has plummeted. Many factories also are shuttered for now. The CLC recognized these challenges and organized to fill material needs while also connecting people to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Rice, instant noodles, fish sauce, cooking oil, canned fish, soy sauce and soap were collected and sorted. Netflix indicted for ‘Cuties’ A grand jury in Texas has indicted Netflix on a criminal charge of promoting “lewd” depictions of children for offering the film “Cuties” on its streaming service. Netflix has garnered controversy in recent months for its decision to carry the French film “Cuties,” which features 11-year-old girls dancing provocatively and simulating sex acts and has been compared to child porn. Texas State Rep. Matt Schaefer posted a photo on Twitter Tuesday of the first page of the indictment, made last month by a grand jury in Tyler County. Abortion center injures two women Two women seeking abortions at The Austin Women’s Health Center last month were transported by ambulance to South Austin Hospital in Austin, Texas, after both suffered uncontrolled hemorrhaging. According to 911 records obtained by Operation Rescue, the first incident took place on Sept. 2, 2020, when an abortion facility employee named “Julie” called 911 after a 28-year old woman suffered excessive vaginal bleeding after an abortion. The second medical emergency last month at the Austin Women’s Health Center occurred three weeks later, on Sept. 25, 2020, when a 25-year old woman hemorrhaged during a dilation and evacuation dismemberment abortion. Texas law limits abortions to 20 weeks or under, but the Austin Women’s Health Center offers abortions for “maternal and fetal indications,” which often allow a facility to bypass the 20-week limit for the “health of the mother.” Doctor considered ‘dangerous’ performs abortions In August, Arkansas abortionist 74-year-old Tom Tvedten had his medical license temporarily suspended after the Arkansas State Medical Board (ASMB) decided that his certification of an underage girl for a medical marijuana card presented such “gross negligence and ignorant malpractice” that he was determined to be a danger to the public. Now, pro-life watchdog group Operation Rescue reports that Tvedten will be allowed to continue committing abortions but has been deemed too dangerous to continue certifying medical marijuana cards.

In this episode I interview THE Mica May of May Designs.  May Designs is a lifestyle brand specializing in customized notebooks, stationery, and more!  At the core of Mica’s company, they are a team wanting to bring joy to the everyday moments in life. The flagship product is the May Book, a simple notebook that can be customized to reflect your style; their notebooks come in three different sizes, it lays flat and fits nicely in your purse! The heart behind each product they create is to allow you to create something that makes you inspired to be YOU! They hope to guide you down a little online trail of magic as you design something over your very own. May Designs has been named one of Oprah's Favorite Things, and has been featured on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Real Simple, Austin Women and has been included in Birchbox and Popsugar boxes nationwide. Back in 2009, Mica May decided life was too short for ugly notebooks. A graphic designer by trade, she whipped up some patterned notebooks for herself, and began using them and taking them to client meetings.  People began to take notice of her notebooks and started calling them “May” books, after her namesake.  Born with an entrepreneurial spirit, Mica decided that these whimsical notebooks she was making could be scaled for the masses, so she launched a second company called May Books, which eventually changed its name to May Designs. Through the years, the company has grown and expanded into other product lines and is actively pursuing being a lifestyle brand. She believes that every day moments should be lovely, so the company is on a mission to make all of life’s normal activities just a little bit more magical. I saw Mica speak on a panel at the Current conference I attended in Austin back in September.  Blown away by her charisma and story of true passion and grit I asked her if she would be on the show and share her story with all of YOU!  In this episode we chat all things what it was like to get started building your own company, what led up to Mica’s big Good Morning America Moment, how she balances motherhood and entrepreneurship and what's coming up for her Trailblazer retreat in 2020. How Certain Affinity Became The Biggest Independent Video Game Developer in Austin Texas Austin native Mojdeh Gharbi has the kind of “woman-championing-tech” story we need to hear more often. Mojdeh is co-owner of Certain Affinity, the largest independent video game developer in Austin Texas. With contributions to industry-defining games like HALO, Call of Duty and DOOM, Certain Affinity has developed or co-developed more than more than 25 products across 10 different franchises, with more than 100 million units sold. Not bad for what started, twelve years ago, as a “bootstrap startup.” “Most people get into the game industry and say ‘I’m going to make the next big game and it’s going to be amazing.’’ But there’s so much risk involved in making games,” Mojdeh shared. “We intentionally said, we’re not going to go out and raise a bunch of money and hope it works out. We’re going to build the studio from the ground up. We’re going to learn from the best so that when it’s our moment, we’ve set ourselves up for success.” Now a strong workforce of 165 people, Certain Affinity has significantly scaled its operational capability while at the same time remaining profitable and socially conscious. Mojdeh’s leadership has turned heads in the community, as she was recently named a finalist for the Austin Business Journal’s “Profiles in Power,” and recognized in the STEM category of the Women’s Way award in Austin Women’s Magazine. What’s more, Mojdeh firmly believes that “leadership” is about creating a positive ripple effect in the lives of Certain Affinity’s employees and their consumers. In this episode of Voices of Impact, Mojdeh talks about Certain Affinity’s path to becoming the largest independent video game developer in Austin. We discuss the importance of building a reputation, longevity in a rough-and-tumble industry, and the true meaning of legacy. Mojdeh also shares her fresh, insightful approach on the often over-wrought world of marketing.
