In this episode of the Sound of Economics, host Rebecca Christie sits down with Bruegel Director Jeromin Zettelmeyer, researcher Silvia Merler and Bank of France Deputy Governor Agnès Bénassy-Quéré to talk about common European debt and the idea of a 'safe asset'. What makes government bonds a part of public infrastructure as well as a tool for financing public goods? Why is how to borrow money for public goods treated as a separate question from how to spend it? Should the European Union sell more common debt or look at a layered system that works with national borrowers, such as the swap proposal put forward by Olivier Blanchard and Angel Ubide? Will United States Treasury bonds always be the world's only major reference asset, or will the EU get a seat at that table? This episode discusses what a safe asset is, why it matters to Europe and what steps policymakers should take next.Related research: Lappe, M.S and J. Dr. Kurt Bjorklund unpacks Romans 12:1-2 to show why God's mercy makes complete devotion to Jesus the only reasonable response, not a trade for blessing but true worship. Die Frage habe mir meine Kollegin Janna Horstmann gestellt, in ihrer «I feel you»-Serie zum Thema Tod. Erstmal waren da diese grosse Leere und das Leid in einem unvorstellbaren Mass. Eine Trauer, die mich in ihrer unglaublich körperlichen Form umgehauen hat. Es gibt vermutlich gar nicht genug Freunde und Begleiterinnen um das Leid eines am Leben verzweifelten Menschen tragen zu können. Am Ende aber steht da die echte, vollständige Versöhnung mit meiner Geschichte. Etwas, was mich selbst immer wieder berührt. In this episode, I share one of the biggest shifts that's happened in my own work over the last year. After spending more than a decade teaching fertility, I've realized that knowledge alone doesn't create transformation. Most women I work with already know what to eat, what supplements to take, and what lifestyle changes they "should" be making. The real question is: Why aren't those things changing your reality? Using a simple timeline, I walk you through the way I now understand fertility, health, and life itself. We explore how your cellular health, inherited patterns, nervous system, subconscious beliefs, and identity all interact to shape the life you're living today—and why healing isn't about becoming perfect. It's about changing the direction you're moving. I also share my own fertility story, from two failed IVF cycles and recurrent pregnancy loss to eventually becoming pregnant naturally after being told my egg quality couldn't improve. More importantly, I explain why that wasn't the end of the journey. Because having the baby wasn't the biggest transformation. Becoming aware of the patterns that had been running my entire life was. 00:00 – Welcome to Finding Fertility 01:00 – Why I'm moving away from teaching and toward awareness 03:55 – My fertility story begins: what eight years of infertility taught me 05:20 – The timeline that changed everything: cellular health vs. simply getting older 08:00 – My first failed IVF and refusing to believe there was "nothing I could do" 10:30 – The fertility line: why improvement happens long before success 11:50 – Discovering immune issues, inflammation, and the gut connection 13:15 – My first pregnancy after years of infertility 15:10 – IVF success, miscarriage, and the natural pregnancy I never thought was possible 17:30 – The biggest lesson wasn't fertility—it was my subconscious patterns 19:25 – Why high-achieving women plateau despite doing everything right 21:20 – "How do I actually change?" 21:45 – Why affirmations work for some people—but not everyone 25:55 – The emotional blocks and identity patterns keeping you stuck 27:10 – "But what about women who do nothing and still get pregnant?" 29:10 – Doing vs. Being: the trap so many women never see 30:35 – Consistency creates evidence: rewiring your nervous system and subconscious 31:25 – Final thoughts Book a Fertility Breakthrough Session Today : https://calendly.com/findingfertility/discoveryconsultation If this episode resonated with you, I'd love if you left a review. If your website is getting traffic but not enough leads, the answer may not be “write another blog.” The answer may be that your core website pages are not clear enough, strategic enough, or supportive enough to help someone make a buying decision. In this episode, I'm walking through the five pages I would look at before adding another piece of content to your site, especially if you want more of your traffic to turn into real inquiries and sales. #251Have you ever felt like you're not allowed to say this out loud? That Comprehensible Input works beautifully with novices… but something feels different at Intermediate High and Advanced? That maybe your students plateau, avoid complex structures, or fossilize errors and you quietly wonder if you're doing something wrong? What if the issue isn't you… and it isn't your students… but the choice we've created between CI or explicit instruction?Topics in this Episode: The tension around CI and explicit instruction: CI has become dominant; Some spaces treat explicit instruction as regression; Teachers feel pressure to claim “pure CI;" Meanwhile, many quietly supplement. Most SLA studies focus on novice/intermediate learners; there simply aren't many rigorous studies examining advanced learners. When you attend CI workshops or read CI literature, the vast majority of examples, materials, and strategies target novice learners. This isn't because CI can't work at higher levels. It's because we haven't developed robust models for what it looks like there. The 'bandwagon effect': CI has achieved near-ideological status in some circles. Teachers feel pressure to claim 'pure CI' success even when they're supplementing with explicit instruction. The research does NOT support abandoning CI at advanced levels. It DOES support integrating strategic explicit instruction, particularly for complex features that are infrequent or non-salient in input.Blog Post with Cited Research: Balancing CI and Explicit Instruction Across Proficiency LevelsA Few Ways We Can Work Together:Ready For Tomorrow Quick Win PD for Individual TeachersOn-Site or Virtual Workshops for Language DepartmentsSelf-Paced Program for For Language DepartmentsConnect With Me & The World Language Classroom Community:Website: wlclassrom.comInstagram: @wlclassroomFacebook Group: World Language ClassroomFacebook: /wlclassroomLinkedIn: Joshua CabralBluesky: /wlclassroom.bsky.sociaX (Twitter): @wlclassroomThreads: @wlclassroomSend me a text and let me know your thoughts on this episode or the podcast.

When a horse does not respond to a cue the way the rider hoped, there is a natural tendency to put the blame on the horse. “My horse won't canter.” “My horse refuses to turn.” “My horse isn't listening.” “My horse is being difficult.” But in reality, the horse is simply responding to the stimulus given, in the only way he knows how. If the response is not what we wanted, the first place to look is not at the horse's attitude, but at the clarity and consistency of the rider's cues.

The AI compute crisis is here. Anthropic's Claude is getting dumber and Opus 4.7 & OpenAI's Spud are about to make it worse. What happen's next? This week on AI For Humans, we dig into the AI compute crunch that's quietly becoming the industry's biggest problem. The Wall Street Journal just ran a cover story about AI using so much energy that computing power is running out. Claude users are noticing the model getting worse, and an AMD Senior AI Director confirmed. AI pundits are asking whether Anthropic's reluctance to release Mythos is really about safety or about not having enough compute. Meanwhile, Opus 4.7 is reportedly coming next week, rumors are swirling about a new OpenAI model dropping any day, and Uber already blew through its entire annual AI coding budget. Anthropic just signed a deal with Google and Broadcom for more compute. Greg Brockman published an essay on the computer-powered economy. Plus, Google DeepMind drops Gemini Robotics Reasoning Model ER-1.6, Steven Soderbergh comes to the defense of AI filmmaking, Diplo says you can't fight AI and the internet has opinions, and Ray Kurzweil says we'll soon just accept AIs as conscious because it'll be useless not to. #105: If the mess of baby-led weaning feels overwhelming, you are not alone. In this episode, I'm breaking down 5 practical survival skills to help you manage the mess without getting in the way of self-feeding. Listen to this episode to learn: 1. How to handle the baby-led weaning mess without getting in the way of self-feeding 2. What bibs, mats, bowls, and cleanup strategies actually make mealtimes easier 3. Why a little mess is part of learning how to eat — and how to keep it from overwhelming you Shownotes for this episode can be found here: https://www.babyledweaning.co/podcast/105 Links from This Episode: • Bapron Baby bapron bibs are here. • The “toddler” size says it's for 6 months to 3 years; I've never had babies be able to wear this size after 2 but this is the size you get for infants starting solids • The “preschool” sizes says it's for age 3+ but again, my kids and families usually transition to this seize around age 2 • The code KATIE10 gets you 10% off everything at bapronbaby.com • Bapron Baby splash mats are here. These are pricier than other splash mats, but definitely worth it. The material is really durable, non-plastic, can rinse in your kitchen sink & reuse and they're huge, can put under 2 high chairs at a time or use as a picnic blanket. Code KATIE10 works for 10% off at bapronbaby.com for these too. • The silicone suction mats and bowls I use are from ezpz. I love that they use the same concentrate to make every product in their lineup. You can get 15% off their starter kits with the code KATIE15 (spend a little more for the premium starter kit with the oxygen boost, it's AMAZING for getting food stains out of clothes!) • Blog Post: 5 Benefits of Using a Suction Mat or Bowl is here • Baby-Led Weaning with Katie Ferraro program with the 100 First Foods™ Daily Meal Plan, join here: https://babyledweaning.co/program and use the code BLWPOD50 to save $50 when you sign up. • Baby-Led Weaning for Beginners free online workshop with 100 First Foods™ list to all attendees, register here: https://babyledweaning.co/baby-led-weaning-for-beginners
