Another Epstein Files mystery solved. The reason the DOJ Official Social Media Accounts is suddenly, over night, preemptively CLEARING Trump of any wrongdoing related to his name in the latest tranche of Epstein Files, and calling all HIS documents but no others, “baseless” and “sensationalist” is because TRUMP and his White House have taken control of the DOJ social media accounts, according to new reporting. Michael Popok explains how the Trump DOJ and FBI could not possibly have conducted the required years long criminal investigations, including about purported “fake” Epstein letters pointing the finger at Trump, in 24 hours, and questions why no other person mentioned in the files is being similarly “cleared” and exonerated, including the Democrats inside the files. But all of a sudden, with the discharge petition set to force a House vote, things are rapidly going in the wrong direction for Trump. 1. Welfare System Fraud and Structural Issues Based on an op-ed by Phil Gramm and John Early in The Wall Street Journal titled “The Biggest Fraud in Welfare”. Key points: U.S. welfare spending has skyrocketed 765% since the mid-1970s, now totaling $1.4 trillion annually. If distributed evenly among the 19.8 million families classified as poor, each would receive $71,000 per year. The government fails to count non-cash benefits (Medicaid, housing subsidies, food stamps) as income, creating a distorted picture of poverty. Example: A single parent earning $11,000 annually can receive benefits worth $53,128, bringing total resources to $64,128, well above the poverty threshold. Criticism of the system: It traps people in dependency instead of promoting self-sufficiency, contrasting with Trump-era welfare reform that moved 7 million people off food stamps into the workforce. 2. Massive Fraud in Minnesota’s Medicaid and Welfare Programs Federal prosecutors allege up to $9 billion in fraud since 2018, possibly 50% of the $18 billion spent on 14 programs. Fraud described as “industrial scale”, involving fake companies and individuals exploiting housing and autism assistance programs. Some funds allegedly funneled to Al Shabab, a Somali terrorist organization. Criticism of Minnesota’s Democratic leadership for lack of oversight and alleged vote-buying incentives. Prediction: Similar fraud likely exists in California, New York, and Illinois. Media accused of downplaying the scandal; local CBS reports highlighted the severity. 3. Strong U.S. Economic Performance Under Trump Latest GDP report shows 4.3% growth in Q3, the strongest in two years, beating expectations of 3.2%. Growth driven by consumer spending, healthcare, tech, and AI-related investments. Inflation reportedly down to 1.6%, signaling economic stability. Commentary contrasts media narratives predicting economic collapse with reality of strong holiday spending and trade policy success. We welcome Sam Rosenthal, political director of Roots Action, to analyze their “Autopsy” report on why in 2024 the Democratic Party lost to the worst, most corrupt GOP in American history. Plus, Ralph answers some of your listener questions.Sam Rosenthal is an organizer and researcher who serves as Political Director at RootsAction.We're talking about young voters, voters of color in major urban centers and college towns who looked at their choices last year (2024), looked at the candidates in the way the Democratic Party had conducted business and said, “I don't really see anyone here who's representing my best interests.” So it's not that these folks necessarily went and voted for Donald Trump (although some did) or voted third party (although some did). But by and large, people just didn't come out and vote. They were not inspired. They were not galvanized. And they didn't see how it would benefit their material interests to come out and support the Democratic Party as they had in 2020. So that's the ballgame, basically. It's incredibly hard to come back from a nearly 7 million vote drop from Presidential cycle to Presidential cycle. And everything else that we point to in this report, I think, is a bit secondary to that top line.Sam RosenthalOne of the reasons we wanted to write this report is because we haven't seen a similar type of reflection from the DNC, from anyone inside the Democratic Party apparatus. There's reporting that there's some kind of autopsy underway inside the DNC. But the subsequent reporting was that there was so much infighting about who's looking bad, which sect of consultant-types looks bad in that report and which comes out on top that it became too rancorous. It's not clear that they're going to release that report. We think this is complete political malpractice.
