1. Senate Vote and Legislative Status The Senate voted 51–47 to proceed with debate on the Save America Act. All Republicans supported moving forward except Lisa Murkowski; Tom Tillis did not vote. Democrats are portrayed as unanimously opposed. The bill is now in debate, with Republicans attempting to build public support. The legislation would: Require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. Require photo ID to cast a ballot. This is: A common-sense safeguard, not voter suppression. Necessary to maintain election integrity and public trust. Voting is framed as a sacred right earned through American history and constitutional amendments. The speech references: The 15th, 19th, and 26th Amendments as expansions of voting rights. A U.S. Supreme Court ruling (Indiana voter ID case) that upheld photo ID laws. Facts are laid out that: Minority voter participation increased after voter ID laws. The Court rejected arguments that voter ID is discriminatory. 81% of Americans support voter ID laws. Roughly 75% of African Americans and 80%+ of Hispanics support voter ID. 70% of rank-and-file Democrats support voter ID, despite elected Democrats opposing it. Democratic opposition is elitist and disconnected from voters. 1B. Immigration and Election Integrity Link The speaker claims: Over 12 million undocumented immigrants entered the U.S. during the Biden administration. Border security improved dramatically after Trump’s second inauguration. The argument suggests Democrats: Intentionally allowed mass immigration. Oppose voter ID to enable non-citizen voting, allegedly to gain political power. This claim is central to the narrative that Democrats are undermining democracy. 1C. Cultural and Moral Critiques of Democrats Democrats are accused of: Misusing civil rights language (e.g., calling voter ID “Jim Crow”). Holding minorities to lower expectations. Valuing ideology over national unity, faith, and tradition. Voting is compared to everyday activities that already require ID (flying, banking, alcohol purchases). 2. Who is Texas Democratic Senate Nominee James Talarico The nominee is: A radical progressive falsely presented as moderate. Using religious language to promote views on gender identity, abortion, and masculinity. His statements on: God being non-binary, Transgender issues, Abortion, American symbols, Veganism and climate changeare used to depict him as culturally out of touch with Texas voters. 3. César Chávez Hero of the Political Left A New York Times exposé alleges sexual abuse by César Chávez. Chávez was: A leftist icon whose crimes were allegedly ignored due to ideology. A symbol of ethnic tokenism and collectivist politics. The broader scope: The left protects immoral figures if they serve political goals. Identity politics harms rather than empowers minority communities. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Trump counterterrorism chief Joe Kent abandons ship, Tulsi Gabbard and Markwayne Mullin flounder in front of Congress, and Trump steers the nation straight into disaster. Meanwhile, Republicans are at each other's throats and hitting below the belt. This week, Maria Bamford riffs on stand-up, mental health, and doing impressions of your dad you know he'll hate. Utkarsh Ambudkar and Nico Santos give Lovett a taste of his own medicine, the medicine being spooky ghosts. And to close us out, we look back at it, with a juicy round of Second Thoughts.
This week on the Mark Levin Show, there is an ongoing effort to hijack the conservative movement and MAGA, which is rooted in the Tea Party and constitutional conservatism. We reject any defense of the Third Reich, attacks on Christians, Jews, or Israel, and sabotage from within. True patriots focus on real threats like illegal immigration, Islamism, economic socialism, ideological Marxism, and figures from George Soros to the woke Reich neo-fascists. These infiltrators pretend to seek debate but aim to control and destroy the movement, much like Marxists and Islamists. Joe Kent, the former deputy at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, is a reportedly serial leaker who was hostile to President Trumo's agenda and rejected the commander-in-chief's decisions on military operations. His resignation letter, written publicly for the press and Democrats rather than privately to the president, is intentionally crafted to create controversy, undermine the president's war effort against, question the existence of an imminent threat, give aid and comfort to enemies, and dishonor current military personnel. There is no divide among MAGA supporters. President Trump has our unanimous support. But there are a small group of malcontent podcasters who appeal mainly to leftists who are trashing the country, Trump and the military while placing acolytes in the administration to undermine both Trump and U.S. military. Next, the FBI is actively investigating Joe Kent for allegedly leaking classified information, including allegedly sharing secret details with figures like Tucker Carlson and leaking from a government server to a media contact. Will Carlson publicly deny receiving classified information from Kent or texting with Iranian regime contacts? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

When President Trump says things like “fake news,” “witch hunt” or even “Make America Great Again,” he's not just using catchy phrases -- he's persuading people into a way of thinking and believing. This week on Code Switch, we talk to Amanda Montell, author of Cultish and co-host of the podcast Sounds Like A Cult, about what the language of MAGA shares with cult language, and why it matters. To manage podcast ad preferences, review the links below:See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for sponsorship and to manage your podcast sponsorship preferences.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
Tim discusses the online rumor that Benjamin Netanyahu is no longer alive, watches Pete Hegseth try to explain the war in Iran, reads about a homeless man who fought a Waymo, tells Americans to stop traveling during the TSA shutdown, and listens to Donald Trump talk about taking Cuba. Live Dates:
Mea Culpa welcomes back to the show our good friend, Norm Eisen. There's pretty much nothing going on in politics today that he doesn't have an opinion about. His recent book, "Overcoming Trumpery” is a great read, especially as we get into the midterms and watch Republican candidates try to mimic Trumpian tactics to get elected. Eisen is a CNN Legal Analyst. And the founder and executive chair of “States United Democracy Center”, a nonpartisan organization advancing free, fair, and secure elections. Eisen served as special counsel to President Barack Obama on ethics and government reform. In that role, he was dubbed “Mr. No” and the “Ethics Czar” because he's well known for his tough anti-corruption approach to governance. Eisen is also active with the Brookings Institute and other groups working to expose the myriad of ways Trump and his cronies broke the law and attempted to overturn the 2020 election. Eisen is also working with the Brookings Institute to help Ukraine recover and progress now and hopefully post Putin's war. As we always say, Eisen is a witness to history. Michael and Norm dig deep into the upcoming midterms, the rise of antisemitism, and Trump's legal woes.
A terrifying episode that looks into the heart of the GOP's relentless attack on democracy. We unpack Barton Gellman's urgent Atlantic Monthly jeremiad on how Trump will subvert the next election and how the Dems are letting it happen. Later, former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi joins Mea Culpa to discuss the radical right wing threat.
David Plotz talks with journalist Gabriel Sherman about his new book Bonfire of the Murdochs: How the Epic Fight to Control the Last Great Media Dynasty Broke a Family—and the World. Sherman, who also wrote the bestselling biography of Fox News chief Roger Ailes, spent 15 years reporting on the Murdoch empire. In this book he turns his lens on the family itself — the rivalries, the wounds, and the secret Nevada courtroom battle that finally forced Rupert's hand.Sherman sketches each of the three main Murdoch children: the shrewd and overlooked Elisabeth, the conservative golden child Lachlan, and the restless, brittle James. He explains how Rupert pitted each of his children against each other to consolidate his own power. He and Plotz explore the parallels between the Murdoch and Trump dynasties, debate whether a James-led Fox News could ever have been tethered to reality, and ask what happens to the empire once Rupert is gone. Sherman's prediction: Lachlan sells.Tweet us your questions @SlateGabfest or email us at gabfest@slate.com. This Supreme Court term has seen threats against the Justices – from the President, a slew of game-changing shadow docket opinions, justices sparring in public, and some of the most consequential cases of our lifetimes. If you're feeling a little disoriented by it all, join Dahlia Lithwick and Mark Joseph Stern on this week's show for a clearer understanding of what's going on at One, First Street. They discuss the big immigration case the court took up just this week that will be crammed into the last week of arguments, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's courage at a public event, and what it means when a justice steps out of the four corners of her opinions to voice urgent concerns about the shadow docket in public, and why, when it comes to threats to judges, the Chief Justice is meekly asking Trump knock it off, while taking no responsibility for his court's role in it all. President Trump posted on social media that the US was getting very close to meeting its objectives in Iran. Earlier he told reporters he didn't want a ceasefire. The BBC's US partner, CBS, has reported that US military officials are making detailed preparations for the possibility of deploying ground troops in Iran. Also: we hear from the journalist in Israel who's been pressured by online gamblers to change a story; why social media is awash with chat about how thin everyone was at the Oscars - and it's not just about the women; and the new research which calls into question the march south by English troops, ordered by King Harold, to face the Norman invasion in the famous Battle of Hastings in 1066.The Global News Podcast brings you the breaking news you need to hear, as it happens. This week, the Senate is debating the contentious SAVE America Act, a strict voter identification bill that could overhaul who gets to vote. President Trump has called it his “No. 1 priority,” threatening to not sign any other legislation until it is passed. Michael Gold and Nick Corasaniti, reporters for The New York Times, discuss why some Republicans are standing against the president to block it, and the administration's other plans to try to reshape the electoral process. Guests: Michael Gold, a congressional correspondent for The New York Times, and Nick Corasaniti, a Times reporter covering national politics. Background reading: What's in the voter ID bill President Trump and Republicans are pushing? The Senate is taking up a voter bill sought by Mr. Trump but opposed by Democrats. The Pentagon requests an additional $200 billion in funding for Trump's war in Iran. Jon and Dan discuss how Democrats in Congress should respond to the request, the administration's insistence that rising gas prices are nothing to worry about, and the resignation of a high-ranking intelligence official, Joe Kent, over the administration's decision to go to war with Iran. Then, they talk about Tulsi Gabbard's and Markwayne Mullin's explosive hearings on the Hill, AIPAC's impact on Tuesday's Democratic primaries in Illinois, and Trump's latest money-making venture — putting himself on a commemorative gold coin. Then, Juliana Stratton, the new Democratic nominee for Senate in Illinois, talks to Dan about her simple, effective anti-Trump message. For a closed-captioned version of this episode, click here. 1. Kathy Hochul (New York Governor) – Economic Hypocrisy Hochul previously encouraged conservatives and wealthy job creators to leave New York. After large numbers of high‑income residents relocated, she now publicly urges wealthy individuals to return. This is hypocrisy—rejecting wealth creators ideologically while depending on them financially to sustain social programs. Left‑wing governance is hostile to success yet reliant on taxing it. 2. James Talarico (Texas Democratic Senate Candidate) – Religious & Cultural Contradictions Democrats selected Talarico to appeal to Christians because of his seminary background. His theological statements (e.g., describing God as “non‑binary”) are radical reinterpretations of Christianity. Additional Points: Supports abortion access for transgender individuals. Expresses discomfort with traditional symbols like the American flag and the Christian cross. Advocates reducing meat consumption and runs a vegan campaign in barbecue‑centric Texas. 3. Joe Kent (Former Trump Administration Official) – Foreign Policy Reversal Kent resigned in protest of U.S. military action against Iran, blaming Israeli influence. His past statements strongly supported aggressive action against Iran and praised Trump’s Iran policy. He later suggests (without evidence) that Israel may be threatening President Trump. Media reports suggest he may have leaked classified information. 4. Cesar Chavez (Labor Icon) – Moral Hypocrisy and Historical Revision Chavez has long been revered by the left as a civil‑rights and labor hero. A New York Times exposé alleges Chavez sexually abused minors over many years. The Left has: Allegedly concealed or ignored these accusations because Chavez aligned with their politics. Continued honoring him with statues, street names, and official recognition. Ideology was prioritized over justice and child protection. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Megyn Kelly is joined by Joe Kent, former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, to speak out for the first time about the reports he's being investigated by the FBI for leaking to the media during his time in the Trump administration, whether he leaked info about Mark Levin to Tucker Carlson, the allegation he leaked about Charlie Kirk to Candace Owens, and more. They also discuss what really happened behind-the-scenes in the Trump administration in the weeks leading up to the Iran war, the influence of neocons and foreign officials in Trump's decision-making, critiques about him speaking out against the president during a war, how VP JD Vance and DNI Tulsi Gabbard fit with Trump's current Iran policy, Kent's interactions with Vance, Gabbard, and Trump the night before his resignation letter, whether he was frozen out of meetings with President Trump and other top officials, why Kent believes there's much more to investigate related to the Charlie Kirk assassination, why the FBI could take the lead on the potential "transtifa" connection, whether foreign actors were involved in any way, what drew him to President Trump during the 2016 GOP primary, why his past foreign policy “moral clarity” on Iraq and Middle East was so appealing, Kent's lengthy military service, and more. It's Friday, but Glenn's day was immediately ruined after watching a clip of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) suggesting that Democrats can civilly sue their political opponents. President Trump, while visiting with the prime minister of Japan, was asked why he didn't notify the government of Japan before striking Iran, and his response was something that needs to be heard, not told. Glenn reacts to the heartbreaking news of the passing of actor and martial artist Chuck Norris, who was recently hospitalized. Glenn's former co-host and host of the upcoming show "Predictable with Stu," Stu Burguiere, joins to discuss this year's midterms and what the numbers are saying about each side's chances. It's Friday, but Glenn's day was immediately ruined after watching a clip of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) suggesting that Democrats can civilly sue their political opponents. Glenn breaks down his latest live special, the design and production that went into it, and why its message is critical for everyone to hear. Glenn and his staff discuss the latest jaw-dropping tax proposal from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), which would raise the top real estate tax from 16% to a whopping 50%. Glenn's former co-host and host of the upcoming show "Predictable with Stu," Stu Burguiere, joins to discuss this year's midterms and what the numbers are saying about each side's chances. Glenn and Stu also discuss the concept of making money off polling numbers and political predictions. Finally, Glenn and his team take an Insider's response to Glenn's special, which exposed the threat of radical Islamism. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, the FBI is actively investigating Joe Kent for allegedly leaking classified information, including allegedly sharing secret details with figures like Tucker Carlson and leaking from a government server to a media contact. Will Carlson publicly deny receiving classified information from Kent or texting with Iranian regime contacts? Later, Iran's pursuit of weapons-grade uranium, 22,000 pounds which is far beyond what's needed for heating homes, is clearly for nuclear weapons development. We should be celebrating that the enemy is losing, instead the Democrats complain and call it a war of choice. Also, Washington Free Beacon reporter Jon Levine calls in and discuss his story on NYC's Mayor Zohran Mamdani's wife, Ruma Duwaji. Levine reports that old social media posts from her Tumblr account around 2017, when she was about 20, show her sharing images and quotes from Palestinian terrorists, including plane hijacker Leila Khaled with her paraphrase of a quote about dying for the cause, as well as content honoring a bomb-maker killed while making explosives and celebrating Palestinian tourists on International Women's Day. Afterward, who has contributed more to America's wealth and job creation—Bernie Sanders or Elon Musk? Musk has created over a hundred thousand jobs, providing paychecks, health care, and pensions. Musk's wealth does not take from anyone, unlike government taxes paid to Uncle Sam. Finally, Sen Jim Banks calls in and praises Trump's handling of Operation Epic Fury, describing it as one of the most successful and sophisticated military operations in history. He also supports the Save America Act, which is a critical effort to secure elections and protect common-sense policies. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Dave Rubin of "The Rubin Report" talks about Former Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent's controversial comments about Charlie Kirk and the Iran War on Tucker Carlson; Dan Bongino telling Fox News' Laura Ingraham why the evidence of an imminent threat from Iran was undeniable and Trump's Iran War was completely justified; Marco Rubio explaining to a stunned press the imminent threat from Iran and what would have happened if President had not acted now; CNN's Harry Enten sharing new polling data that should scare the Democratic Party about how loved Donald Trump is by the MAGA base despite his recent controversial policies; New York Governor Kathy Hochul finally realizing that tons of wealthy New Yorkers leaving New York for Florida and Texas is eroding New York's tax base, as she begs for them to come back to help pay for their expensive social programs; Gavin Newsom's support of wildlife advocate Beth Pratt's "bridge to nowhere" over the San Gabriel River blowing up in his face as the bridge is still unfinished and now $21M over budget; and much more. The Trump Administration's crackdown on undocumented and documented immigrants hasn't stopped — even for recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. Since Trump returned to the White House last year, his administration has made life harder and harder for the estimated half a million DACA recipients living in the US. The Trump Administration has said it's deported nearly 100 DACA recipients — and that's not including everyone who has been detained. To talk more about what Dreamers are having to endure under Trump, we spoke with Laura Barrón-López. She's a White House reporter for MSNOW.And in headlines, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly plans to ask Congress for $200 billion to fund the war with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds a press conference just to prove he's still kickin', and rapper Afroman is — legally — serving up Lemon Pound Cake.Show Notes: Check out Laura's interview – https://tinyurl.com/4ujxrtxu Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are demanding “more patriotic” coverage of the widening war in Iran. On this week's On the Media, hear how the Pentagon is cracking down on its publication, Stars and Stripes. Plus, fake AI images of the Iran war are proliferating, and they're getting more convincing. [01:00] Host Micah Loewinger breaks down the calls from the Trump administration for the media to produce “patriotic” coverage of the war in Iran. Plus, a closer look at the reporting by legacy outlets with journalist Minnah Arshad. Arshad analyzed The New York Times' early coverage of the war, and found that Iranian victims were underrepresented. Next, Micah sits down with scholar Mahsa Alimardani to discuss fake AI images of the Iran conflict, and how AI detection tools are being used to discredit authentic footage. [22:30] Micah speaks with Samantha Gross, the director of the Energy Security and Climate Initiative at the Brookings Institution, to dissect the developing energy crisis being caused by the disruption of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz. [37:54] Host Brooke Gladstone talks to Erik Slavin, Editor-in-Chief of Stars and Stripes, the independent, award-winning newspaper that has served the military for roughly a century, about the Pentagon's plan to crack down on their reporting and refocus their content away from “woke distractions.” Further reading / watching: “First Draft: How the Media Manufactures Consent for War,” by Minnah Arshad and Andrew Perez “How AI Content Detection is Being Weaponized in the Iran War,” by Shirin Anlen and Mahsa Alimardani “The Fake Images of a Real Strike on a School,” by Mahsa Alimardani “Why Iran's disruption of the Strait of Hormuz matters,” by Samantha Gross, Caitlin Talmadge, and Melanie W. Michael Wolff and Joanna Coles dive deep into the unraveling chaos inside Trumpworld as the Iran war exposes a full-blown MAGA civil war, with Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly and Nick Fuentes clashing against Ben Shapiro, Laura Loomer and Mark Levin in a bitter fight over Israel, antisemitism, and the future of the movement. Wolff reveals shocking behind-the-scenes insights into the conspiratorial currents driving Trump's base, the growing belief that shadowy forces are steering U.S. foreign policy and how figures like Jared Kushner are being recast in dark, dangerous narratives. As Trump stumbles through a conflict he never planned through, sidelining his own America First allies while embracing traditional hawks, the episode paints a portrait of a movement fracturing in real time—where ideology, opportunism, and resentment collide, and where the battle for control of MAGA may reshape American politics in ways few saw coming. In the Oval Office during a bilateral meeting focused on the U.S.-Iran conflict and securing the Strait of Hormuz, President Donald Trump defended the lack of advance notice to allies about strikes on Iran. Turning to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, he said, "We didn't tell anybody about it because we wanted surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor?" The conversation then shifted back to bilateral ties and Japan's role in global security. The lighthearted yet edgy banter, captured on video and widely shared, highlighted the mix of humor and tension in the meeting between the two leaders.
