This week, we press into another difficult topic. Gender identity is probably one of the most heated and charged conversations happening today. When someone says gender identity, what does that mean, what ancient belief parallels it, and what does the Bible have to say about it.
Watch on YouTube. Topics: Christian Walk, Adult Children, Boundaries, Drug Addiction, Counseling, Confession, Affairs, Teens, Sexual Integrity, Gender Identity. Hosts: Brian Perez, Dr. Jill Hubbard, JJ West. Caller Questions More: Dr. Jill suggests when we feel powerless, reflect on what is our part and what is God's part. Is it appropriate to tell my 34yo son to leave my house? He had a heart attack 3mos ago and smokes meth. The courts sent me to group therapy; how therapeutic is it to have to repeat what I was accused of to every new member of the group? It has been more than 5yrs since my wife cheated on me, and I blame myself for being gone so much for work. How do I help my naïve 16yo daughter who sent inappropriate pictures to a boy? My son is in college and says he's non-binary; do young men move out of this lifestyle? The post New Life Live: May 9, 2025 appeared first on New Life. Listen to these words from detransitioner Laura Perry Smalts in a recent Salvo Magazine article: “If I had known in 2007 that God's creation of male and female was not only good but impossible to alter, I would have saved myself a tremendous amount of pain and suffering. At the time, I would have repeated the typical cultural catchphrase that I was born this way. I believed I was a man trapped in a woman's body and that the only way I could be myself was to transition from female to male.” Laura Perry Smalts goes on to tell her story of transition, and how she came to the realization that she had been wrong, leading to a detransition. Her words are so helpful: “God said to me, “You cannot love me and yet reject my creation. Then I heard him say, Let me tell you who you are. In that moment, my whole idea of identity shifted from what I wanted to be, to who wanting to know who I was created to be.” Thank you Laura Perry Smalts, for reminding us of where to find our identity!

In this fierce and timely episode of The Scenic Route, we unpack the UK Supreme Court's ruling that redefines “woman” based solely on biological sex, excluding trans women from legal protections, political representation, and basic recognition. But this isn't just a courtroom debate. It's a culture war dressed in legal robes. We follow the funding behind the ruling, expose the billionaire feminists fueling the backlash, and dismantle the persistent myths about biology, gender, and identity. This episode asks hard questions: Who really benefits from the binary? Why do so many defend it so violently? And what does it mean that we wreck Teslas, but not Harry Potter books?“If you want to burn Teslas but not Harry Potter books… ask yourself why.”We draw insights from Judith Butler, bell hooks, Laurie Penny, Simone de Beauvoir, and others to examine why trans women are not a threat to womanhood: they are its most powerful proof. In this episode:Why the UK ruling matters far beyond BritainJK Rowling, Elon Musk, and the weaponisation of wealthWhy biological sex is a spectrum, not a binaryHow gender is assigned, performed, and punishedThe role of evangelical power and purity culture in gender politics10 takedowns of the “biological women only” mythSee you on the Scenic Route, because sometimes the long way is the shortest way home._____________________________________________________________________ Visit jenniferwalter.me – your cosy corner where recovering perfectionists, misfits, and those done pretending to be fine find space to breathe, dream, and create real change."

He uncovers the lies our society has believed about gender identity, self-expression, and the body, and confronts them with biblical truth. The biggest shake-up to the primary school syllabus in more than two decades is on the way. It will overhaul the way most subjects are taught, even add new ones, but changes to one subject is proving the most controversial: sex education. It will replace the Stay Safe programme first introduced in the 1980s and as soon as the Department of Education announced it was working on a new approach and opened up a period of public consultation, one subject emerged as the most contentious – gender identities.Gender identity issues are not on the new primary school curriculum – something that has angered those on one side of this polarising culture war, while reassuring those on the other.Irish Times education editor Carl O'Brien explains why the curriculum is changing and how it became caught up in this most contentious debate.Presented by Bernice Harrison. In this episode, host Jay Young engages with Sasha, author of 'Victims of Virtue', to explore the complexities of victim mentality, personal responsibility, and the societal narratives surrounding masculinity and gender ideology. They discuss Sasha's personal journey through trauma, the impact of school policies on self-defense, and the consequences of medical interventions for minors. The conversation emphasizes the importance of accountability and the dangers of a victimhood mentality in today's society. In this conversation, Sasha and Jey Young discuss critical issues surrounding parental rights, gender affirming care, abortion, adoption, and the societal implications of these topics. They explore the complexities of parental love, the impact of censorship, and the challenges of mental health in today's society. The dialogue emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility and accountability in navigating these contentious issues. Takeaways The conversation addresses sensitive topics that may be uncomfortable for some listeners. Sasha's book critiques the pervasive victim mentality in modern culture. Personal responsibility is crucial for overcoming adversity and trauma. Victimhood can be a choice that limits personal power and control. School policies often discourage self-defense, reinforcing victimhood. Toxic masculinity is often misunderstood and conflated with normal male behavior. Children lack the cognitive ability to understand long-term consequences of their choices. Medical interventions for minors raise ethical concerns regarding informed consent. The narrative of interchangeable genders contributes to societal misunderstandings. Healthy masculinity should be distinguished from harmful behaviors. Parents have limited control over children's access to gender affirming care. The conversation around abortion often overlooks the option of adoption. Many parents regret their decisions regarding abortion years later. The depth of parental love is often underestimated until one becomes a parent. Censorship plays a significant role in shaping societal narratives. Victim mentality can hinder personal accountability and growth. Mental health issues are often misdiagnosed due to self-diagnosis trends. The impact of COVID-19 on children's social skills is yet to be fully understood. There is a significant gap between children in foster care and families wanting to adopt. Societal pressures can lead to poor decision-making regarding family and parenting.
