This week I'm reading from Rosemary Thornton's book 'Remembering The Light: How Dying Saved My Life'.When Rose's husband committed suicide, Rose fell into a pit so deep and dark that medical professionals expressed doubts that she would ever fully recover. Two years later, Rose was diagnosed with cancer, and during a “minor medical procedure,” she bled to death, and had no heart beat for more than 10 minutes. In heaven, she was told that if she agreed to return to earth, she'd be restored to good health, physically, emotionally and mentally. Subsequent medical tests affirmed that every trace of the disease was gone, but as Rose often says, the “bigger story” was the restoration of her soul. The crippling grief, occasioned by her husband's suicide, was gone.BioFor two decades, Rose Thornton was nationally renowned as an expert on historic homes. The author of nine books, she has been featured on a wide range of platforms, from PBS' "History Detectives" to BBC Radio. In 2016, her husband tragically took his own life, and two years later, Rose was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.Amazon link https://tinyurl.com/4y5t8r3uhttps://www.pastliveshypnosis.co.uk/https://www.patreon.com/ourparanormalafterlifeBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/our-paranormal-afterlife-finding-proof-of-life-after-death--5220623/support.

Jennie and Dianne return to Dayton Ohio's Calvary Cemetery, this time to visit the grave of Maurice Breen, an Irish immigrant who spent some of his early years in America helping those who were enslaved to escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Maurice Breen was a man who worked hard but always made the best of life. He lived through plenty of hardships, but he didn't let them prevent him from wearing a smile, cracking a joke, and helping those in need. This is Maurice Breen's story but it is also the story of so many others who have come to America seeking to improve their lot in life, to secure employment, food, and better futures for themselves and their children. Now available on YouTube! https://youtu.be/bqEL3Shpo9U?si=k-y5JWlzASPxWpVsResources used to research this episode include:Various historical news articles found on www.newspapers.com, Calvary Cemetery . https://politzersaga.com/ Did you knowthat March 9th is recognized as Genealogy Day? In our fragmentedworld, tracing genealogy has become a passion project for people worldwide.Think, PBS Finding Your Roots and History Detectives. LindaAmbrus Broenniman has set an amazing example by documenting her family lineage– filled with shocking secrets found in a house fire in a book called The Politzer Saga. There's even a correspondingmuseum exhibition of this family story in Budapest.Imagine growing up as a church-going Catholic and then later in lifediscovering your father was Jewish (a secret he took to his grave) with 8generations of Hungarian Jews before him and from where he and his wifeemigrated to Buffalo, NY in the 1940's. Clara Ambrus, Linda'sCatholic mother hid Jews during the Holocaust and was later recognized as“Righteous Among Nations” at Yad Vashem, the International Holocaust Museum among figures likeSchindler. The story getsbetter. In that lineage were characters like Adam Politzer, known to ENTsas TheFather of Otology. Art collectors, lawyers, and musicians. ForJews, harkening back that far in one's family is rare, hence the moniker of“wandering Jews.” Clara and Julian Ambrus were prominent physicians in theiradopted American hometown of Buffalo,Sadly, Clara lost her life after a house fire – the source of many of thehidden family documents. She will be celebrated there in May with a muraldedication. GenealogyDay might be the ideal time to get a conversation going about family trees, family secrets and where we come from. The Politzer Saga has changed the livesof author Linda Ambrus Broenniman and many of her relatives. Perhaps it's agood time to celebrate our roots.

In the last few years, I have started to hear a lot more about a holiday in the US called Juneteenth. I knew that it was a significant event connected to the end of slavery, but this episode does a wonderful job at explaining the significance of Juneteenth and tells the story of the activist Miss Opal Lee who fought to make Juneteenth an official national holiday in America. In 2021, she was finally successful. Listen to The Ten News Podcast on Spotify or Apple or wherever you get your podcasts.

When Rosemary's husband committed suicide at their home, she fell into a pit so deep and dark that medical professionals expressed doubts that she'd ever fully recover. Two years later, Rosemary was diagnosed with stage two cancer, and during a related “minor medical procedure,” she bled to death and had no heart beat.In heaven, her predominant emotion was profound gratitude that this life experience had ended, but the angelic beings she encountered encouraged Rosemary to return to earth. She was told that if she agreed to go back, she'd be restored to perfect health, physically, emotionally and mentally. The angels were right. Rosemary experienced a dramatic and thorough healing. Tonight she tells her story.BIOFor 20 years, Rosemary Thornton enjoyed a national reputation as an expert on old houses. In A is for Architecture's seventh episode in 2022/3's offer, I speak with Professor Gwendolyn Wright of Colombia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation (GSAPP), New York and presenter of PBS' History Detectives. We met on Zoom to talk about her 2008 book, USA, part of Reaktion Book's Modern Architectures in History series, a book which ‘traces a history that spans from early skyscrapers and suburbs in the aftermath of the American Civil War up to the museums, schools and ‘green architecture' of today [describing] diverse interests that affected design, ranging from politicians and developers to ambitious immigrants and middle-class citizens […] Wright reframes the history of American architecture as one of constantly evolving and volatile sensibilities, engaged with commerce, attuned to new media, exploring multiple concepts of freedom.' You can get the book via The University of Chicago Press' website here. You can also hear Gwen talk at GSAPP with Michael Kimmelman about architecture's public, in a presentation entitled Who's Listening? Also, here she is speaking when accepting the Society of Architectural Historian's Award for Excellence in Architectural Media in 2012, and here about History Detectives as part of the Chicago Humanities Festival. Gwen's website is here; her LinkedIn is here. Gwen is an amazing communicator, a seriously insightful analyser of modern architecture and a delightful person to listen to. The book is marvellous, of course, as you shall hear… Happy listening! + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + Music credits: Bruno Gillick + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + aisforarchitecture.org Apple: podcasts.apple.com Spotify: open.spotify.com Google: podcasts.google.com

Horsefly Chronicle's Radio guest Rose Thornton Join Julia and Philip Live on Horsefly Chronicle's Radio only on The United Public Radio Network with Special Guest Rosemary Thornton When Rose's husband committed suicide at their home, she fell into a pit so deep and dark that medical professionals expressed doubts that she'd ever fully recover. Two years later, Rose was diagnosed with stage two cancer, and during a related “minor medical procedure,” she bled to death and had no heart beat for more than 10 minutes. In heaven, her predominant emotion was profound gratitude that this life experience had ended, but the angelic beings she encountered encouraged Rose to return to earth. She was told that if she agreed to go back, she'd be restored to perfect health, physically, emotionally and mentally. The angels were right. Rose experienced a dramatic and thorough healing. The Outer Realm Welcomes Special Guest, Author Mark Olly, and he will be discussing his new book "Crystal Skulls and Human Heads", Ancient Mysteries, UFOs and Ets, and so much more! The Book: In a time when the world realized that it is not immortal this little book brings an entirely new view of what it means to be human, what the planet really is, how something as simple as a few grains of sand revolutionized civilization, how extinction is simply a part of nature, and how the whole of life we so comfortably fit into may not be quite what it seems. Nature, science, and technology combine to show the past, present, and future like never before, a life-and-death passage through realms largely unknown to us, but not to those ancient giants of intelligence who came before us. Author Mark Olly seamlessly combines the disciplines of archaeology, geology, science, and human studies, to push the boundaries of human existence wider in both directions and increase our appreciation of just exactly what the human race could potentially be capable of achieving. Far from being an end in itself, this book takes the reader on a magical mystery tour like no other, enlivens the mind, reaches some startling conclusions, and may just change the way we see our future. BIO: Mark Olly was born in 1962 in Warrington, England, and educated at Appleton Hall County Grammar School, Warrington College of Art & Design, the University of Liverpool Institute of Extension Studies field archaeology unit, various business schools, and El-Shaddai College of Advanced Ministry U.K. Manchester where he obtained a Certificate of Ministry (Ct.Min.AP) and Diploma of Biblical Studies (Dip.BS.AP). For over 22 years he worked as a professional musician, live DJ, compare, and in music management, founding Angelharp Music, Unicorn Entertainments Agency Ltd. and Legendthink Ltd. (one of the first ‘multi-media' companies in the world) before moving on to pursue a solo career as a writer, archaeologist and television presenter. This career has so far taken him to all parts of the UK, France, Egypt, Norway, Italy, Bulgaria, Cyprus, South America, Turkey, Malta, and North Africa in search of the ancient and the mysterious. His hobbies include collecting antiques and geological specimens, Dark Age, Celtic and Medieval costumed re-enactment, staging occasional exhibitions and live events, public speaking, and investigating ancient sites. He has six major books in print, appeared on Carlton Television's ‘The History Detectives', wrote and presented all three seasons (22 episodes) of ITV Granada's award nominated ‘Lost Treasures' adventure archaeology series, has presented for Sky History Channel, writes, presents and directs DVD's for US media giant Reality Entertainments / Reality Films, wrote and directed four Music Videos for International US band Hayseed Dixie and three for Sacred Wind's 2014/15 Christmas charity single, occasionally appears in movies, and recently played sessions with bands Soul Path, Sacred Wind, Metall Hose, Atakarma Giants, Wolf and Copperworm. He is visiting lecturer at Wilsmlow Guild and the University Of Chester, an exam invigilator, occasionally heads up his own archaeological unit, and runs his own DVD production and props company MythCo. Jim McDowell, aka "The Black Potter," is a gallery-level, outsider artist working in the ceramic tradition of face jugs inspired by his enslaved African ancestors. In this passionate & electric episode we learn about what pottery was like in colonial & slave times: the spiritual side of African & voodoo pottery; utilitarian vessels on the plantation; digging clay & building kilns; face jugs [aka ugly jugs]; & a renowned, literate slave potter named David Drake. Jim then tells a horripilating story about the making of an emotionally torturous jug he titled, "Slave." This opens powerful conversations about getting one's demons out & the artist's role, channeling ancestors & building generational wealth. For a visual check out a gallery of Jim's powerful face jugs & watch him on History Detectives. For more information check out his website. On this episode of the Afterlife Chronicles, I talk with Rosemary Thornton about her husband's tragic suicide and her profound near-death experience. ~~About Rosemary~~ For 20 years, Rose Thornton (Rosemary Ringer) enjoyed a national reputation as an expert on old houses. The author of nine books, Rose has been featured on everything from PBS' “History Detectives” to BBC Radio. In 2016, her husband committed suicide and two years later, Rose was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. After a “routine” medical procedure, Rose bled to death. In heaven, she was told that if she agreed to return to earth, she'd be restored to wholeness. Subsequently, medical tests affirmed that not only had the disease disappeared, but she was also healed of the crippling grief. ~~Rosemary's Book~~ "Remembering the Light: How Dying Saved My Life" http://www.authornicolestrickland.com

A number of years ago I attended a conference in Kansas City Missouri. With a free afternoon, I decided to visit the National World War I museum. The National World WWI Museum and Memorial is America's leading institution dedicated to remembering, interpreting, and understanding the Great War and its enduring impact on the global community. The Museum and Memorial holds the most comprehensive collection of World War I objects and documents in the world and is the second-oldest public museum dedicated to preserving the objects, history, and experiences of the war. It was designated by Congress as America's official World War I Museum and Memorial. There is a sense of wonder and discovery when visiting a museum for the first time. What artifacts will be on display? What new information will be passed on through the interpretative exhibits? And for me, what photos might be there. There were no stories passed down in the family of men who served in the Great War or of women who aided the war effort. Exhibits inspire thought, dialogue, and learning to make the experience of the Great War (because no one thought there would be another) relevant to present and future generations. The National World War I museum is now among my favorites. As the Photo Detective, I've seen my share of images taken during the war years including men and women in uniform as well as everyday dress. Those photos show how fashion evolved during the Great War. There were new styles introduced influenced by the conflict such as trench coats and wristwatches for instance. There is a new exhibit currently on display and online at the National World War I Museum: Silk and Steel: French Fashion, Women and WWI explores the role of the French fashion industry and how those changes to dress occurred. Is Hulu trying to make its own American Crime Story with anthology true-crime series The Act? Maybe; Tara Ariano and I agree they're off to a good start with the eight-part Gypsy Blanchard limited series co-created by Michelle Dean. Good production design, good performances, and a good sense of the claustrophobia in Gypsy and DeeDee's relationship make for a compelling look at a case full of cons. History Detectives isn't as successful; I thought recent Austin transplant Tara might enjoy an investigation into one of the city's more gruesome chapters, but the show's ponderously didactic tour of the servant girl murders of 1884-5 didn't work for the true-crime buff OR the civilian on the panel. But sidle on up to kiosk anyway, and slide The Blotter Presents, Episode 090 right into your tote bag. Support the pod/site on Patreon! Sometimes called "the forgotten conflict," the War of 1812 has largely faded from modern memory, even though it had a lasting legacy. Host Allen Forkum (editor of The Nashville Retrospect newspaper) interviews Dr. Tom Kanon of the Tennessee State Library and Archives about his book, Tennesseans at War, 1812 to 1815, and that legacy, including: Tennessee rising to national prominence and becoming known as “The Volunteer State”; Native-Americans losing millions of acres of territory in the Creek War, which Kanon contends was a first step toward the Indian Removal Act of the 1830s; and Gen. Andrew Jackson becoming president of the United States because of his fame after a lopsided victory against the British in the Battle of New Orleans. Also hear how a comet and earthquakes helped launch the war. (Segment begins at 05:15) “Andrew Jackson with the Tennessee forces on the Hickory Grounds (Ala) A.D. 1814” is a circa 1840 lithograph published by Breuker & Kessler. (Image: Library of Congress) “Se-loc-ta, A Creek Chief” is an engraving from The Indian Tribes of North America (1838) by Thomas Loraine McKenney and James Hall. Selocta joined Gen. Jackson as a guide and warrior in his campaign against the Red Sticks, a faction of Creek Indians at war with American settlers. (Image: Library of Congress) This map shows “The Battle of the Horse Shoe,” which took place on March 27, 1814, between Red Stick Creek Indians and Tennessee troops led by Major General Andrew Jackson. The map is from The Pictorial Field-Book of the War of 1812 (1869) by Benson John Lossing. The original caption: “The above plan of the battle of Cholocco Litabixee, or the Horseshoe, is arranged from one in Pickett’s History of Alabama. A shows the position of the hill from which Jackson’s canon played upon the breastwork. CCC represents the position of Coffee’s command. (Image: Tennessee State Library and Archives) “Treaty with the Creeks” is an 1847 depiction of the August 1814 meeting at Fort Jackson between representatives the United States, led by Major General Andrew Jackson, and the defeated Creek Indians. Kanon says the Creek Indians lost 22 million acres of land, located in today's Alabama and Georgia. (Image: New York Public Library) “January 8, 1815. British (Gen. Pakenham) Loss: Gen. Pak. & Over 2000 Kd [killed] & Wd [wounded]. American (Gen. Jackson.) Loss: 7 Kd. & 6 Wd.” is a lithograph published circa 1890 by Kurz & Allison of Chicago. (Image: Library of Congress) In this episode's "audio artifact" segment, hear Richard Fulton’s country music record from 1968. Fulton was a Tennessee state senator, a U.S. congressman, and a mayor of Nashville. (Segment begins at 58:00) (Special thanks to Clinton J. Holloway for use of his Richard Fulton record) Richard Fulton’s “Poor Little Paper Boy” was predicted by the Jan. 20, 1968, Billboard magazine to hit the top 20 Hot Country Singles chart, though it apparently did not. (Image: Clinton J. Holloway) And finally, Allen Forkum reviews some of the contents of the January 2019 issue, including: Gen. Tom Thumb’s Nashville visit in 1869; Richard Fulton’s ousting from the state senate in 1955; a speech given at the 1905 emancipation celebration; and a religious controversy in 1835. Also hear an interview with former Nashville Banner reporter Roger Shirley about his 1982 story about the sulphur water fountain at Werthan Industries. (Segment begins at 01:30) (Special thanks to Roger Shirley) A line forms to get a drink of sulphur water at Werthan Industries on Taylor Street at Eighth Avenue North in December 1982. Nashville attorney David Rutherford (standing at the back of the line) tried to get the historic sulphur spring moved to nearby Morgan Park. In the podcast, former Nashville Banner reporter Roger Shirley recalls visiting the foundation to write a story (which was republished in the December 2018 issue of The Nashville Retrospect).
