Coming onto the scene in 1981, Jag Panzer were heavily inspired by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal Giants before them. They positioned themselves to be one of the top up-and-coming heavy metal bands of the early to mid 1980s with their debut album Ample Destruction. However, with middling reviews and no chart success, Jag Panzer remained an underground heavy metal staple for the length of their career. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/heavylutionpodcast/support

Rob Rock (born June 29, 1959) is an American heavy metal singer who is best known as the longtime frontman of Impellitteri, a position he has held from 1987 to 1988, 1992 to 2000, and from 2008 to the present day. Rock has also released four studio albums as a solo artist, and performed with a number of other notable artists, including M.A.R.S., Joshua, Angelica, Axel Rudi Pell and Warrior to name a few. Rob Rock's early music career consisted of stints with several local cover bands as a drummer and vocalist including Tangram, The Robert Allen Band and Vice which also included future band mate, Chris Impellitteri. They released a demo and were together until 1985. In 1986, he joined musicians Tony MacAlpine (guitar), Tommy Aldridge (drums), and Rudy Sarzo (bass guitar) in a project called M.A.R.S. The group released a lone album entitled Project: Driver in 1986, which received much critical praise, but the next year each member went their separate ways. Rock then reunited with friend Chris Impellitteri and recorded the self-titled debut EP (1987) of the latter's band Impellitteri. However, he was also committed to another band named Joshua, so he could not continue with the band at the time. Rock recorded the Intense Defense album with Joshua, which was characterized by the editor of HM Magazine as being "probably the best melodic metal album in the universe." He also worked on other projects (Dennis Cameron's Angelica & Driver) which gave him knowledge of international musicians that would serve him well later. After leaving Joshua in 1988, Rock formed M.A.R.S. offshoot Driver with two other former Joshua members, bassist Emil Lech-Brando and keyboardist Greg Shultz, former Jag Panzer drummer Reynold 'Butch' Carlson, and guitarist Roy Z; Z, Carlson and Lech-Brando had previously played together in Gypsy Moreno. Driver would release a 5-song cassette-only EP in 1990 but broke up the following year when Rock got a call from Chris Impellitteri and decided to once again join his band. Rock would stay on as lead singer until 2000 during which time Impellitteri released five successful albums. In 2000, Rock decided to pursue his own solo career and parted ways with Impellitteri amicably. That same year, he released his first solo album called Rage of Creation. The album received critical praise and Rock has gone on, releasing three more albums (Eyes of Eternity, Holy Hell, Garden of Chaos). Rock's first solo disc 'Rage of Creation' was recorded at Joe Floyd's Silver Cloud studio. As a result of that collaboration, Floyd asked Rock if he would provide vocals for a revamped lineup of the legendary US metal band Warrior. They released 'The Code of Life' in 2001. It is arguably some of the heaviest music Rock has ever performed and received critical acclaim in Europe and Asia. Eventually, Rock would reform Driver with Roy Z and Reynold Carlson and release the Sons of Thunder album in 2008, which consisted of re-recordings of their 1990 EP along with other unreleased songs written at the time. A second Driver album, Countdown, was released in 2012. In May 2008 it was announced that Rock reunited once more with Impellitteri. Their new album, Wicked Maiden, was released in April 2009 and since then they have gone onto release two more studio albums along with the newly released “Wake The Beast-The Impellitteri Anthology”, which is a 3 CD set of the bands favorite tracks from throughout their career. The band will hopefully see a new studio release in 2023 and Rock has some other projects in the works as well so until those all see the light of day please have a listen to the brand new podcast interview with the legendary Rob Rock!

Good evening, everybody. Its Thursday and time for another edition of Metal Mayhem ROC! Tonight-- show host Jon “The Vernomatic' Verno has two fun informative interviews to share. THE THREE TREMORS, the project featuring acclaimed heavy metal singers Tim "Ripper" Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin (JAG PANZER) and Sean "The Hell Destroyer" Peck (CAGE, DEATH DEALER, DENNER/SHERMANN), will release its second album, "Guardians of The Void", on November 5 via Steel Cartel Records. TREMORS shot out of a cannon at a frantic pace. They were pursuing an aggressive pace of live performances when the shutdown forced them to cut short their North American tour in the middle of their run in early 2020. They wasted no time, however, and got to work on another new album. Now their sophomore effort "Guardians of The Void" is ready for blast-off. Vernomatic's second interview is a cool chat with listener Charlie Avino. On April 28th, 1981 Marty Duda was a young disc Jockey responsible for booking Ozzy Osbourne & The Blizzard of Ozz  TV show "After Hours" at 31 Studios here in Rochester, New York.  Charlie and Marty were friends and classmates at S.U.N.Y Brockport at the time, and  was in attendance for the taping of that performance. Charlie heard our original interview with Marty from April of 2021 and reached out to me to share his memories of the event. Stories like what it was like to meet with Ozzy, Randy and the rest of the band, talking drumming with Tommy Aldridge, and to just see and feel the power of an ascending true heavy metal super star in Randy Rhodes. This is some of the only pro shot video footage in existence of the late Randy Rhoads and Charlie was there to experience it all and share his memories with us. We invite you to rate and review this and all past episodes at www.podchaser.com Simply enter Metal Mayhem ROC in the search box, scroll down, press the MMROC logo and rate the episode and leave a review As always, we encourage you to listen, like and share this and all past episode to your metal and NON metal friends. TERMINUS: extreme metal podcast

In this turgid and sprawling episode of Terminus, your intrepid hosts go an adventure of full autism in true Terminus form. References to Spite Extreme Wing? Check. The Black Metal Guy discussing mythology uninterrupted for ten minutes? Check. The Death Metal Guy slowly becoming nonfunctionally stoned while discussing Japanese doomdeath? Check. This episode is a work of ages, featuring four records of tremendously varying sound but rigorous pursuit of personal vision. We begin in true Terminus form with a comfortable starting point: the ferocious, epic, and driving assault of Quebecois freshmen Oriflamme, whose inaugural recording combines delicate strands of French and Mediterranean black metal distilled into a dark, enraged edge of obsidian beauty. Both hosts are invariably stoked, but disagree on some of the finer points: is this outlaw rock? Does it sound like BBH? How do you pronounce the album title, anyway? Discussion ensues but concludes with an obvious command to all Terminators: Buy This Now. In the interest of expanding the show's horizons, The Black Metal Guy brings another debut onto the show with Anahata's first foray into flagon-pounding traditional heavy metal. Anahata's sound is resolutely committed to the traditions of the 80s, but subtle influences from modern extreme metal abound, making for stomping sing-along anthems with exactly the sort of intrigue growing Black and Death Metal Guys need. Still glance longingly at the 3 Inches of Blood hoodie in your closet on occasion? Your moment has arrived. After a visit to the past with Jag Panzer, The Death Metal Guy switches gears dramatically with Midnight Betrothed, an Australian project who presents low-fi, synth-focused black metal with a bevy of bizarre influences- most of them outside of metal. Is it black metal? Dungeon Synth? A weird sort of ambient music? None of the above- it is the advent of (much to The Black Metal Guy's chagrin) Lo-Fi Black Metal Beats to Study or Relax To. Riding high on good times so far? That deficiency is corrected as Anatomia rises from their crypt to bestow a masterpiece of tumorous, deformed doomdeath upon the masses. Your hosts have been long time fans of the band and are pleasantly surprised to see that the ante is upped as the tempo is lowered, as four tracks of slimy, plague-ridden funeral doom obliterate subwoofers and reap souls. In the words of our favorite funeral doom band, Hatebreed: YOUR DOOM AWAITS YOU!   0:00 - Introductory bullshitting 0:09:14 - Oriflamme - L'Égide Ardente (Sepulchral Productions) 0:54:59 - Anahata - Auspicious Atavism (Independent)* 1:48:04 - Interlude - Jag Panzer - “Warfare,” fr. Mark Briody of Jag Panzer. The young Andy would have been stoked. I remember listening to Thane to the Throne when I was about 16 and being blown away with what I heard. Jag Panzer was one of the small number of bands who broke me out of my mainstream metal knowledge and set me on a path of absorption of the wider metal world. My eyes had been opened! Mark is someone who I've looked up to and respected for many years. The way he approaches the band and interacts with those who love the music has influenced me greatly on the way that I hold myself, as well as others, with respect and appreciation. It all comes back to why we all got started in the first place. The love of metal. With Jag Panzer being around since 1981, we naturally cover a bit of the bands early history but we also spend a lot of time talking about the 80s tape trade culture, musicians who have won Mark's respect over the years (and some who didn't) as well as cool stories involving Lemmy and Chuck Berry respectively. Lots of great insights if you're a musician, fan of Jag Panzer or simply someone who loves a good story. Check out Jag Panzer's most recent album The Deviant Chord and be sure to dig into their back catalogue if you haven't already. One of my favourite classic heavy metal bands. Guitarist Markus Johansson has had an interesting musical journey. This guy is just a guy. A guy who has forged his own way with an album with so many metal allumni that it looks like it was set up by everyone in the music business. Nope. Just Markus. This is a PERFECT example of musical "DIY". Truly inspirational. His band Sylencer released an album in 2012 with around twenty musicians involved...and if you're into metal you've probably heard of most of them. From the wikiweb: "For A Lethal Dose of Truth, Sylencer's album, Johansson produced and called on some of hard rock and metal's most gifted musicians to lend their chops to the recordings. The featured guest list on A Lethal Dose of Truth includes Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat), Brendon Small (Dethklok), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), and Gene Hoglan (Testament), with nearly a dozen other current and former members of Iced Earth, Jag Panzer, Cynic, Helloween, Halford, Chimaira, Death, contributing as well." Then...his new band 4arm. Sheesh. Seriously? Based out of Australia, Markus picked up a leg as the lead guitarist. Then 4arm opened for Slayer and Gojira for a while. After an exit from their front man Danny Tomb, they called Markus to be the new frontman. 4arm has a new album called "Survivalist" due out this year. Super excited to see what happens for our new friend next. Music by Sylencer and a little dab of Modest Mouse on top.
