The college has organized a smooth move-in process with volunteers assisting students and families, distributing water, and offering information. Students can also enjoy a photo area, snacks, and receive a residence hall T-shirt. Freshman Trekwan Gordon, from Palm Beach, Florida, and Amaree Caldwell, from Atlanta, are among those excited about starting college, with interests ranging from business to criminal justice. Freshmen JT Watkins and Yakhi Pitts are eager to meet new people and begin their studies, with Pitts also looking forward to integrating his marketing knowledge into his YouTube channel. STORY 2:  Gwinnett Teens Damage Local Football Field After Stealing Pickup Truck Gwinnett County police arrested two teenagers this week after they stole a pickup truck and used it to damage a high school football field. The suspects, 17-year-old Robert Krause and a 16-year-old female, faced multiple charges including aggravated assault, reckless driving, and theft. The truck was stolen from a driveway in Lawrenceville, and surveillance footage showed the suspects finding the keys. After damaging the football field at Mill Creek High School, they were tracked by police and nearly hit an officer while fleeing. The truck crashed, and both suspects were apprehended after a brief foot chase, with one being tased and the other captured by a police aviation unit. STORY 3:  Drivin N Cryin Returns To Suwanee To Celebrate 20 Years Of The August Concert Suwanee is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its August Concert series by reuniting with Drivin N Cryin, the band that played at the inaugural event in 2004. Known for hits like “Straight to Hell” and “Fly Me Courageous,” the Atlanta band will perform a free concert on Saturday, August 17, at Town Center Park. Founder Kevn Kinney, joined by bassist Tim Nielsen and drummer David V. Johnson, promises a nostalgic, old-school set, including acoustic performances with violinist Faye Petree. The 22-year-old ran a personal-best 52.29 seconds, just behind Dutch athlete Femke Bol (52.15), while American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone set a new world and Olympic record with 50.37 seconds. Jones, a recent USC graduate and three-time NCAA champion, qualified for the final with a semifinal time of 53.83. She previously led GAC to its first state track title and is the daughter of former NFL All-Pro safety Henry Jones. STORY 5:  Cirque du Soleil's 'Coreto' Set To Return To Gwinnett's Gas South Arena Olaf Triebel, artistic director of Cirque du Soleil's "Corteo," ensures every show is flawless, handling a complex array of logistics and coordination. With a tour featuring 19 trucks, 120 crew members, and intricate stage setups, Triebel manages everything from artist integration to technical departments. "Corteo," a unique show with a central stage setup, requires intense backstage coordination due to its dual-stage design. Having joined in March from another Cirque show, Triebel oversees the production's final North American performances before its European and future Australian tours. The Duluth shows run from August 15-18 at Gas South Arena. We'll be back in a moment   Break 3: Gwinnett County Fair   STORY 6:     Suwanee planning to keep millage rate flat Suwanee leaders propose keeping the city's property tax rate at 4.93 mills, unchanged for the past 12 years. Public hearings will be held on August 15 and 27 to gather resident input before a final vote on August 27. Although the rate remains the same, higher property values would lead to a 7.13% increase in taxes. The revenue supports Suwanee's $19 million FY 2025 budget, which includes new positions, capital funding, maintenance, repairs, and operational costs, such as transitioning to electric vehicles and opening Town Center on Main. Welcome back to another insightful episode of "Beauty and the Network" with your host, Jasmine Jones. In this 20minute podcast episode Jasmine delves into effective goal-setting strategies to help you navigate through the chaos of numerous aspirations. Key Takeaways Mapping Out Your Goals: Jasmine introduces two powerful methods for goal mapping: S.M.A.R.T goals and the S.W.A.T chart. S.M.A.R.T goals stand for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Jasmine emphasizes the importance of this commonly used framework. The S.W.A.T chart is presented as an alternative, providing a unique perspective on goal visualization. It allows you to identify potential blind spots that might hinder your progress. Game-Changing Approach: Discussing the impact of mapping goals using the S.W.A.T chart, Jasmine highlights how this approach goes beyond mere goal listing. It enables you to foresee challenges and obstacles that could impede your journey toward success. Ongoing Goals Management: Jasmine shares her personal strategy of maintaining an ongoing goals management list, organized by quarters. This systematic approach ensures that goals are continually reviewed and adjusted. The importance of creating specific timeframes for each goal is emphasized. Having a game plan with clear completion deadlines helps in visualizing and prioritizing tasks throughout the year. Strategic Time Allocation: Jasmine explains how breaking down goals into manageable quarters aids in strategic time allocation. This ensures that efforts are directed towards the most critical tasks, enhancing overall productivity. Lastly Jasmine invites you to sign up for her FREE newsletter called the work less Wednesday newsletter where she will be sharing a FREE masterclass on HOW to break down your goals for the year, create a realistic action plan for each quarter so you know where and when to focus on each task! In today's episode, we chat with Dr. Regina Hampton. Dr. Hampton is the co-founder of Cherry Blossom Intimates, a boutique lingerie shop offering lingerie in a wide variety of sizes and styles as well as prosthesis for women who are breast cancer survivors. She believes that all women should have a wonderful and comfortable experience shopping for intimates and leave feeling beautiful and satisfied. In this episode, you will learn: Why she decided to start Cherry Blossom Intimates and how it is different from other lingerie shops for custom prosthetics and traditional lingerie too. How her store caters to women outside of the “average bra sizes” you can buy at the mall. How she met her business partner, Jasmine Jones, a former beauty queen, and they decided to start the store together. How she got her store and employees certified as mastectomy fitting specialists. Why she feels it is important to be able to offer custom prosthesis in 32 different skin tones that really resembles the woman's other breast. What challenges she had opening her brick and mortar store. Why she utilized a small business consultant to help open her business. How she balanced being a physician full time and starting her business. How the software works that they have to create custom prosthesis. Why she feels coming to a bra boutique for a custom fitting is essential. Regina Hampton, M.D.  is the medical director of the Breast Care Center at Doctor's Community Hospital, the first breast center in Prince George's County, Maryland. She is a board certified general surgeon who has focused her practice on breast health and breast cancer. Dr. Hampton attended The Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed a general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital. In October 2018, she opened Cherry Blossom Intimates in Prince George's County, Maryland. It is a bra boutique offering custom prosthetics for breast cancer survivors and lingerie for all body shapes and sizes. Links we discussed in the show: Check out Dr. Hampton's beautiful website and book your fitting appointment at: Cherry Blossom Intimates. Episode 65: Makemerry with Katie Deming, M.D. Check out SBA.gov for step by step instructions to write your own business plan. Quotes from Dr. Regina Hampton: “I really wanted to create something lovely and beautiful where woman could come in and know that they would be taken care of.” “A good bra can change your life! It really can!” Special thank you to this week's show sponsor: Set for Life Insurance!
