Today I sit down with former Marine gunnery Sgt, now Private Investigator, Mr. JD Brooks.Mr. Brooks was employed by the Cain family some time a go to look into the boys case. He has dived deeper into it than most, having interviewed all involved including Chris Stano, Mark Harper, countless witnesses as well as jurors from the trial. After the money for his work ran out Mr. Brooks was so disturbed by what he found that he decided he wanted to continue helping the Cain boys for free.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On April 7, 2001 the lives of many would change forever. It is our solemn duty to report that - as fun as the last couple days have been drinking the quite delicious tears of random Newcastle fans - our mag neighbours sadly weren't the only team to lose at the weekend. In light of this, our Gav and Chris sat down as the weekend drew to a close to dissect another in a long line of losses to the spawn of Jimmy Hill. What's the crack? Why can't we beat Coventry at their home ground… even when they don't own their home ground? Tony's team selection; let's just say we weren't fans of it. Tony's team management; you guessed it, not fans of it. That referee; again, not big fans. Are the Lads actually tired or are they hearing Tony tell them they're tired so merely playing along? That Gyökeres is some player isn't he? Why is Mowbray not considering the likes of O'Nien in midfield in games like this where he'd arguably be far better suited than Dan Neil and Michut? How do Gav and Chris feel heading into our lovely reunion with the bald lad who left midway through the start of our season for more money? All this and more! It'll be reet man.Ha'way the Lads! #SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's Sunday 30th October 2022, and in this evening's show, we will be purring over a Gary Goals-inspired victory which saw “a team like Blackpool” overturn a half-time deficit to come away with all three points at the Coventry Building Society Arena. #coventrycity #blackpoolfc Welcome Kev & Pete Kev Owers & Pete Dixon Talking points M6 a nightmare on the journey there but made it thanks to Siri and Jimmy Hill way Unseasonable warmth, twenty degrees C Great start, Carey slotting Madine in, should have scored but great timing over the run. Tried to dink the GK. Patino nailed, the first yellow of the game to them. Booked my Mr.Bond who looks like a grey-haired former Mod! The resulting free kicking played into the box by Dougall, broke to Thorniley on the edge, floated into Madine and back post but pokes it over the bar when free, karate kick stretching. Cov hit the post, the ball in from the right, and Charlie Allen hit the post. Did Maxi get a toe on it? Evoesque diag from Connolly finds Carey on the left. Beautiful first touch, dummies defender and drills the base of the post GOAL - Palmer megs Jud to put Cov ahead, great build-up to the goal. DIASSLOWED GOAL - CJ judged offside after Madine header goalbound. Did he touch it? GOAL! Madine intercepts the backpass, sets up Hubby's cross and a glancing header Connolly blazes over after great move and cross from Patino Two more Cov chances, close GOAL! Yates header! 7 in 5 and top scorer in the league. A great cross from CJ, Madine-esque header. Jimmy Hill turned $3,000 into tens of millions by age 33. He did so by building Hairbust, an international e-commerce brand that he then sold to a PLC. But James was financially free even before selling his company. How? Practicing what most investing books preach — investing regularly in the stock market (ETFs), consistently for many years. In this episode, we talk about freedom, investing, how to start a business, and how to sell it to a multi-billion, public company. If you are over 60 you are of an age when you'll be able to recall most of what former manager Alan Dicks has to say in this fascinating insight into his time at Ashton Gate. If you are younger then it offers the chance to hear tales from a man who took City to the top flight 46 years ago. When he became manager at City in October 1967 he was only 33 – that's younger than LJ was and he'd not even had a no.1 role! In this interview you'll hear Alan recount stories involving Jimmy Hill, Tommy Docherty, & Bryan Robson to name just a few. Also how Norman Hunter was never going to stay, Gary Collier leaving on freedom of contract and how, when his time at City came to an end, he wasn't actually fired but instead rejected the chance to move upstairs and be finance director!

What does it take to turn an idea and opportunity into a multi-million-pound business? That's the story of this episode of Taking Care of Business, as host and business advisor Paul Cheetham-Karcz welcomes Jimmy Hill - one of the founders of haircare brand, Hairburst - to Series 9 to talk about the journey of growing a consumer brand from nothing, as well as the pressures of closing the majority stake sale of Hairburst to global retailer, JD Sports. The guys also chat about what lies ahead for Hairburst on the back of JD Sports' first steps into the UK's beauty market, as well as Jimmy personally and professionally.Find Jimmy on Insta
I share an hour with Jimmy Hill Co-founder of Hairburst. A hair growth supplement and cosmetic company from the UK, which was co-founded back in 2014 by three friends. In that time the brand has gained 1.5m followers across socials, grew to 45 staff, and is stocked in 20,000 stores globally. Enjoy.
Greetings nostalgia lovers... it's Attic Rewind time again! On this occasion, we're heading back to the warm, cosy beigeness of the BBC's Match of the Day studio such as it was on February 2nd 1985. Once again, Jimmy Hill has the highlights of two matches to bring us, but, with the aid of Tony Gubba, there's also time for a brief report from Millwall where George Graham is learning the managerial ropes. Hooligans? What hooligans? On the pitch, we get to see Luton Town facing up to their fellow lavish spenders Tottenham Hotspur at a ground that has possibly the most advertising boards in the country. They've even got some on the upper tier of the main stand! After trying to be not too distracted by all the pro-Scandi names on show at Kenilworth Road, it's off to Hillsborough again where there's 48,000 watching Sheffield Wednesday play Liverpool - most of them wearing bobble hats, parkas, scarves or possibly a combination of all three. The game's not all that flash, but Jimmy Hill reckons it's a wind-related problem. Well we've all been there... Elsewhere, Breaking News: Bryan Robson's injured! But it's not all predictable... We get to see all the goals from Dumbarton (WTF?), stopping along the way to find out what Bruce Forsyth was up to in February 1985, and discover the worst small business name in the UK at time of recording. Oh, and we give a doff of the hat to the late, great Sir Clive Sinclair. It's all here in episode 5 of The Football Attic: Rewind, including this ever-important link to the accompanying Match of the Day episode (bit.ly/2YmDeKz). Without that, our ramblings would be rendered completely pointless (if you can imagine such a thing).
It's episode 2 of the retro football podcast that knows its Kombilotts from its Konsum Vasts! Yes, we're back once again to take you back to a time in British football when the shorts were short and the tempers on the field were even shorter... In this episode, we take you back to March 1987 for another instalment of the BBC's Match of the Day where it's FA Cup quarter final weekend. Arsenal play Watford and find the linesman giving off all the wrong signals, Coventry City play Sheffield Wednesday surrounded by a profusion of Scandinavian product placement, while back in the studio Bob Wilson tries not to moan about the pain in his neck. Jimmy Hill is your presenter. Along the way we profile Steve Williams and Keith Houchen/Hoochin, consider the drop-off in quality of chart music 34 years ago and generally grab whatever low-hanging fruit we can find from the long-forgotten era of Shoot magazine, home computing and phone-based football information services. ClubCall, anyone? If you want to watch this episode of Match of the Day to see what we're talking about, you can catch it here. Like last time, there are a few brief pauses in the video caused by circumstances beyond our control which we hope won't detract too much from your viewing pleasure. Apart from that, sit back, listen to The Football Attic: Rewind and enjoy... (Caution: some minor swearing, but you can cope.) Follow us on Patreon By donating just £3 per month, you can download every episode of The Football Attic: Rewind two weeks before anyone that chooses not to. As if that wasn't good enough, you'll also get to vote on the year we focus on in the next podcast. Neat, huh? And how do you get to gain access to such marvellous privileges? It's simple. Just visit patreon.com/footballattic, choose a membership level and enjoy being one of a growing number of people who know how to enjoy football nostalgia. We look forward to having you with us...

Fast Forward is a thought-provoking and gripping autobiography about Andrew Cole's determination to succeed against all the odds. Misconceptions have stalked Andrew Cole like a hatchet-man defender determined to cut him down to size. In the world of modern-day football, his reserved demeanour was often interpreted as surly intransigence. Alongside an aptitude for goalscoring, it was widely believed, ran an attitude problem. In Fast Forward, a candid and inspirational autobiography, Cole finally puts his side of the story. The son of a Windrush-generation Jamaican miner from a humble background in Nottingham, he was viewed as a one-man awkward squad by George Graham and Jimmy Hill before Kevin Keegan identified him as the man to bring goals to Newcastle. However, only when Alex Ferguson, his 'second father', took him to Manchester United did Cole begin to belie his image, amassing goals, medals and England caps. Two decades on from United's historic Treble, he reveals the inside track on Eric Cantona and David Beckham, Roy Keane and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer . After a career spent challenging assumptions and adversity, he had to summon fresh reserves of resilience to battle illness and depression.

I sit down with Stuart Linnell, a man who has worked in the broadcasting industry for 50 years, starting with local BBC radio in Birmingham all the way to BBC Coventry and Warwickshire now. He talks about what radio was like in the 70s and 80s when local radio was very much a new thing to many people in the West Midlands and how it has changed over the decades. We also discuss being a Coventry city fan throughout the 80s including the unforgettable 1987 FA Cup win. Stuart also speaks about the present time of being a Coventry city fan and how the job that Mark Robins is doing is very similar to what Jimmy Hill did. I hope you enjoy this interview and let me know what you think. If there is anyone you would like to hear on the podcast then please bring them to my attention on social media.

Former Cobblers forward and reserve team manager Garry Thompson joins us to talk about his long career and being part of the "Birmingham mafia" that turned the club around under Ian Atkins in the late 90's.Dig beneath the surface on Thompson's career and he has some brilliant stories from playing at Jimmy Hill's Coventry, the England U -21's to playing with the great Cyrille Regis at West Brom and Ian Wright at Crystal Palace. Thompson scored a brace for Aston Villa in the Derby at Birmingham, a great moment for the childhood Villa fan.Tommo offers some interesting insight into the Northampton dressing room under Ian Atkins with the likes of John Frain, Ian Clarkson, David Rennie and John Gayle, all players with a connection to the Birmingham football scene. The story about the dust up between big John Gayle and Carl Heggs is one to sit back and laugh along with. Tommo talks about his friend "Akkers" management style and the many ups and couple of downs of the Atkins years."Stand on" is a Birmingham expression for standing up for yourself and that is what Thompson and his team mates brought to the Cobblers, building a team that went to Wembley twice in the playoffs.
