Ok, Aaron Rodgers is upset, again...haha. Give it up for the New York Jets for making a grown-ass decision on moving forward and dropping his ass like a bad habit. The NBA Playoffs are here and I'm not liking what I'm seeing from the Los Angeles Lakers. Please, don't let the Minnesota TWolves take another one from you at home. We paid homage to a former Milwaukee Bucks legend, Junior Bridgeman. We acknowledged his passing that was just noticed yesterday during the Bucks playoff game. The GURU staff would like to wish a Happy Easter to everyone. "He is risen" Matthew 28:6, let's celebrate or Lord, Jesus Christ.

We talk beefs (beeves?), dig into Internet drama, and have fun. The NBA is now a 365-day league and it's never been more present in pop culture. From Kevin Durant's burner accounts to LeBron taking his talents anywhere to trusting the Process, the NBA is becoming a pop culture requirement. At the same time, sports can have gatekeepers that make it insular and frustrating for people who aren't die hard fans. We're here to prove that basketball is entertaining to follow for all fans, whether you're actively watching the games or not. Featured in The New York Times!

The Milwaukee Bucks got a win in their most important game of this end of season slog, defeating the Indiana Pacers at home to secure the tiebreaker vs Indiana and get themselves some breathing room in the standings to hold onto the fourth seed. But the very next night a short-handed Oklahoma City Thunder team came into Fiserv Forum and showed Milwaukee they're not at the level of the top NBA contenders with a firm road win.Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti first pause to recognize the immense loss of Junior Bridgeman, a true icon. Following that, they dive into the big Indiana win including awful officiating and the right balance of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard brilliance, before getting to the OKC loss and trying to figure out what's wrong with Milwaukee's offense. Eventually they explore more starting lineup changes, including if Giannis would ever start at the 5 for Brook Lopez and if Gary Trent Jr. should swap in for Kyle Kuzma to open up more space for Giannis to operate within. The numbness of the loss takes hold but the message must be delivered to the audience.Junior Bridgeman, a colossal figure in Louisville philanthropy, a servant of the Lord, and gracious community leader, was struck by a medical crisis at a public luncheon today. He was onstage and told the assemblage "I think I'm having a heart attack."The word spread quickly and millions of Americans waited for an update. It came about 4 hours after the luncheon. It was not the answer to our prayers. The devastating loss of Junior Bridgeman leaves an irreparable void in Louisville, Kentucky, the United States, and the world.

Happy Hump Day! Weather improving today & tomorrow…then into the mid-to-upper 70's on Friday. Can't wait! In the news this mornings, Southwest Airlines is ditching it's free checked luggage, a lunar eclipse is coming later this week, a new travel trend has people arriving to airport gates very close to takeoff, a Wisconsin jail officer has been accused of paying underage boys for explicit videos, and Bucks owner Junior Bridgeman has passed away. In sports, the Bucks lost to the Pacers last night, the Big Ten Tourney starts today, Tiger Woods had surgery to repair a ruptured achilles, and we also talked about yesterday's NFL roster moves & signings in free agency. Elsewhere in sports, a rare Kobe jersey & a Jordan jersey are set to be auctioned off, the Sacramento Kings have the hottest new halftime entertainment, and the Seattle Mariners play-by-play announcer got beaned by a foul ball while calling a game this week. We let you know what's on TV tonight and we also talked about how to be a "manly man" in 2025. It apparently requires you to trim or shave off your eyelashes. Inspiring story about an overweight dad who wanted to lose lbs before his son's graduation photos, and an extremely overdue library book was just returned. Did you hear the latest trash coming from the morons on TikTok? According to some of these mouth-breathers, rich people are eating mermaids. Yeah. We also discussed the recent baton basher at a high school track meet. Wild story. Plus, Major League Baseball's newest hats are already getting pulled off shelves, and I'm guessing someone is going to be losing their job because of it. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a stolen ambulance, a guy who got kicked out of the place he was staying and then got arrested for cocaine possession, the former Tennessee cop who banged all her co-workers has a new job, and an embalmer in Texas has been arrested for mutilating a corpse. The guys go freestyle for the first time all season long as Scott, Bill and Marc talk about a range of topics including the 1974 college basketball season that is about to tip off with Denny Crum's Louisville Cardinals the pre-season choice to win it all led by Junior Bridgeman. Bridgeman would go on to have a fine NBA career but did you know that in 2016, according to Forbes magazine, he was the 4th most wealthy retired athlete behind only Jordan, Beckham and Arnold Palmer? Tune in to see what made Bridgeman's net worth sore to close to a billion dollars. Elsewhere, NC State won it all shocking UCLA in the Finals and have the high-flying superstar David Thompson returning as well as Past Our Prime guest Monty Towe (4/2/24) but are without their big man Tom Burleson? Will they be able to get through the ACC and defend their title? And what about those Bruins? No more Walton as he's a Trailblazer now. What will the Wizard do for what turned into his final act? In college football, unlike present day times, Ohio State owned Michigan and beat them 12-10 behind 4 field goals from Tom Klaban, a walk on kicker who fled the Iron Curtain with his family under gunfire to become a hero in Columbus. And in the NFL, the Raiders are being led by two geniuses... Al Davis and John Madden. But will they ever get over the hump and put it all together? Lots to talk about for the week of 12/2/74 and that's what we do here on the POP podcast. Today's guest is Junior Bridgeman, a former NBA player who's now one of the greatest entrepreneurs in our country. When he retired from the NBA after twelve years, he jumped headfirst into the restaurant business. He eventually owned 450 Wendy's locations all over the country. And now he's doing it all again, becoming one of the leading Coke bottlers in the U.S. and all of Canada.  And if all that weren't enough, in 2020, he surprised a lot of people when he bought Jet and Ebony after they went into bankruptcy. But as you'll hear him talk about, Junior sees the opportunity to preserve and amplify the stories those magazines have told over the years – something that's so important year round but is especially top of mind right now during Black History Month.  In fact, Junior was recently honored with Louisville's prestigious Keepers of the Dream Freedom Award for all the ways he exemplifies the ideals of Martin Luther King, Jr. So, it's easy to see why Junior Bridgeman is the real deal! And at every step along the way – from playing basketball, to serving his community, to building these incredibly successful businesses – he is ALL about the power of teamwork.  As leaders, we use the word “team” a lot, but when you listen to Junior, you realize that true teamwork doesn't just happen because you've assembled a group of people together. It has to be nurtured and led. You'll hear exactly what Junior does to create that kind of teamwork-driven culture where people feel cared for, and where they're motivated to go farther, together, than they ever could have by themselves. You'll also learn: The practical strategy he used to turn around low-performing stores Advice for leaders who are naturally quiet or introverted How to build a culture where people are truly cared for The key mindset shift every entrepreneur needs to be successful Behind-the-scenes stories of playing with some NBA legends of the 70s and 80s

In this episode I sit down with Junior Bridgeman, a former graduate and U of L basketball player who also had a stint in the NBA playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and the LA Clippers. He and I have a candid conversation discussing family, faith and drive.   More than his achievements on the court, his accomplishments as a businessman off of the court are truly remarkable as well.   Ulysses L. Bridgeman Jr. is the owner and chief executive officer of Heartland Coca-Cola Bottling Company, LLC, a Kansas limited liability company which owns and operates a Coca-Cola production/manufacturing facility in Lenexa, Kansas and 17 Coca-Cola distribution facilities sprinkled across the USA's heartland, including Kansas, Missouri and Illinois.  Mr. Bridgeman has personally received many awards, including the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame; Volunteers of America Tribute Award for Outstanding Service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky; John Thompson Foundation Outstanding Achievement Award; Coach John Wooden Key to Life Award and the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
