What would you sacrifice for freedom? For Monet Bacs, Strategic Director at the LIBRE Initiative in Arizona, her father's answer was clear—everything. In this moving episode, host David From sits down with Monet to explore the legacy of her father, who fled Guatemala in search of opportunity, safety, and a future he couldn't find at home. Arriving in the U.S. as a teenage exchange student who spoke no English, Monet's father built a life rooted in hard work, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in the American Dream. “I'd rather be homeless in America than live under tyranny,” he once said—and he lived those words, choosing struggle in freedom over comfort in oppression. Monet also opens up about her grandfather's horrifying experience in communist Cuba and how her father's heartbreaking death during COVID, amid a broken healthcare system, ignited her passion for meaningful policy reform. Today, she works through the LIBRE Initiative to empower Hispanic communities with access to economic opportunity, education, and better healthcare—carrying forward the legacy of sacrifice and service passed down by her father. It's a powerful story of resilience, purpose, and what it truly means to honor freedom.

Garza provides an in-depth look at the border's operational challenges, the influence of cartels, and the dire human consequences of current immigration policies. Highlighting his personal experiences and the broader implications of policy failures, he discusses the significant rise in illegal crossings and the exploitation by criminal elements, painting a vivid picture of the crisis. The conversation also explores potential solutions to regain control and ensure effective border management. Garza criticizes the lack of political will to enforce existing laws and secure the border, emphasizing the need for comprehensive reform and strategic action. Did you miss any of The Rich Zeoli Show this week? It's ok. We forgive you! But now is your chance to catch-up on all the action: Disney has announced a new director for its Star Wars franchise—Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Obaid-Chinoy has won two Academy Awards for short-films examining injustice in Pakistan, but does that make her the ideal selection for a sci-fi franchise? Obaid-Chinoy said that her goal as a filmmaker has been to “make men uncomfortable,” but aren't most Star Wars fans just looking for an enjoyable two-hour movie? Wadi Gaitan—Communications Director for the LIBRE Initiative—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to react to a new USA Today/Suffolk University poll indicates that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump currently has greater support within the Hispanic American community than does President Joe Biden—39% to 34%. In 2020, Biden won that demographic by 33%—65% to 32%. In a recently surfaced video, former Director of the National Institutes of Health Dr. Francis Collins conceded that the federal government made mistakes with its public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He explains, “if you're a public health person…you attach zero value to whether this actually totally disrupts people's lives, ruins the economy.” In November of 2021, Dr. Collins, who is now serving as an advisor to President Joe Biden, infamously performed “Somewhere Past the Pandemic”—an original song to the tune of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Rich, Matt, and Henry will find any excuse to play it. Matt Walsh of The Daily Wire writes: “The CIA has a term called “limited hangout.” This is a tactic where some small portion of the truth is made public while the most important details—the stuff that really matters—is kept hidden. Intelligence agencies do this in hopes that the stuff they release will satisfy everyone's curiosity and they'll stop asking questions. These Epstein files appear to be exactly that. This is a limited hangout. A diversion meant to satisfy you without actually telling you what you need to know. They want you to stop asking questions. Don't fall for it.” You can read the full article here: https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-epstein-files-are-released-but-the-cover-up-continues Jennifer Stefano—Executive Vice President of the Commonwealth Foundation & Columnist at the Philadelphia Inquirer—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the three things Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker must do immediately. On Tuesday, Parker was sworn in as the 100th Mayor of Philadelphia. On her first day, she signed an executive order declaring a public safety emergency—calling for the development of a strategy that will reduce the unmitigated violence and open drug use currently plaguing the city. But can Mayor Parker's plan be effective while Larry Krasner remains the city's District Attorney?

The United States is facing a moral crisis prompted by rapid increases in cross-border migration and global displacement. For too long, the debate around immigration policy has been framed with false choices that have resulted in political stalemates at a great human cost. Crisis after crisis, Americans are asked to choose between security and unbridled compassion. Is there a better way to safeguard our immigration system while welcoming the stranger? Daniel Garza is the president of the LIBRE Initiative. EDINBURG, Texas - Did you know that over 14,420 Dreamers live in the McAllen metro region and contribute $39.8M in federal, state, and local taxes? This information was provided at a recent forum co-hosted by the Texas Business Immigration Coalition, the Texas Opportunity Coalition and UT-Rio Grande Valley. The event was held at the Edinburg campus of UT-Rio Grande Valley.A Dreamer is a person who has lived in the United States without official authorization since coming to the country as a minor. People of this description who meet certain conditions are eligible for a special immigration status under an executive order first signed by President Obama. The forum focused on ways in which business, higher-education, and civic leaders can support a federal Dream Act, which would allow the Dreamers a permanent way of staying in the United States. Among the VIPs in attendance were U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez, Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina, Pharr Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos, UTRGV President Guy Bailey, Rio Grande Valley Partnership President Sergio Contreras, IBC Bank Vice President Eddie Aldrete, and UTRGV Vice President Veronica Gonzales.Congressman Gonzalez thanked the organized and local leaders for attending the meeting and discussing the impact Dreamers have on our economy. “These young people are Americans in every way, except on paper, which is why we must keep pushing for solutions that will provide them with a pathway to citizenship,” Gonzalez said. Also participating were the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce and the LIBRE Initiative. Daniel Garza President of the Libre Initiative joins Sergio to discuss President Biden's first 60 days, the gas prices in the country, and the immigration situation affecting our borders.
Democrats in Congress are advancing the new coronavirus relief bill worth $1.9 trillion. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says he is ready to sidestep Republicans using a budget reconciliation process that can't be filibustered. Republicans have concerns over how the money will be spent and say our country can't afford the plan's massive price tag. Art Laffer, American economist and former member of President Reagan's economic policy advisory board discusses what economic relief is actually needed, his concerns over our country's growing debt and gives his prediction on where the U.S. economy will be at by the end of 2021. President Biden signed three executive orders on immigration Tuesday as part of an aggressive push to undo former President Trump's policies. Daniel Garza, President of The Libre Initiative, and former Department of the Interior official under President George W. Bush discusses some of President Biden's immigration policies, how to improve America's current immigration system and reacts to President Biden's decision to pass legislation through executive action not Congress. Plus, commentary by Robert Jeffress, Fox News contributor and pastor of the Dallas First Baptist Church.
For months, we've gotten to know Daniel on LatinEQUIS Debate, and now we get to know him beyond the debate. Arizona has been a reliably Republican state at the presidential level in every election since 1952 — except when Bill Clinton won in 1996. But a rapidly growing population has chipped away at the Republican advantage. In 2020, Arizona is rated a toss-up. The state has had no-excuse absentee voting since 1991 and the numbers of voters who use this method continue to grow. As the president continues to malign the U.S. Postal Service and absentee ballots and question the integrity of the upcoming election, we hear from Katie Hobbs, Arizona Secretary of State, KJZZ Phoenix host Steve Goldstein, and Professor Lisa Sanchez from the University of Arizona. Latino voters are a growing share of the population in states like Florida, Texas, and Nevada. In Arizona, they account for about a quarter of voters in the state according to Pew. While national polling indicates that Joe Biden is ahead of President Trump when it comes to Latino voters, he hasn't been able to match Hillary Clinton’s margins from 2016. The Trump campaign is appealing to Latinos with a message centered on crime and the economy. The Biden campaign is using President Trump's response to the pandemic to illustrate that he's unfit to lead. Daniel Garza, president of the conservative Libre Initiative, and Carlos Odio, co-founder of democratic Latino polling and analysis firm Equis Research, share their insights as to what's at stake for this electorate. These conversations are part of a series called Every Vote Counts.

Kinsella on Liberty Podcast, Episode 258. This is my debate at New Hampshire Liberty Forum, Feb. 7, 2019—really more of a roundtable discussion of immigration policy from a libertarian perspective. The other panelist was Daniel Garza, President of the LIBRE Initiative, and the moderator was Jeremy Kaufman. Some listeners may be surprised at my pro-immigration comments. Speaking tonight are, on my left-hand side, depicted by the convenient net placard I have in front of me, is Stephan Kinsella. You're not talking to me, all right. Stephan Kinsella who is a patent attorney and leading libertarian legal theorist, the founder and director of the Center of the Study of Innovative Freedom and the Libertarian Papers. He's a former adjunct professor at the South Texas College of Law. He's published numerous articles and books in IP law, international law, and the application of libertarian principles to legal topics. You can give a hand for him if you want. 00:00:46 [clapping] 00:00:52 On my right, your left, Daniel Garza, president of the LIBRE Initiative. I have a very lot to say about him, but he's asked me not to say all of it. So I will say that he held a couple of important positions for the Bush administration in the early 2000s, has also done important things for the Hispanic community for Televisa and Univision and is currently, as I already said, president of the LIBRE Initiative, lives in Mission, Texas with his wife and three children. Daniel Garza. 00:01:22 [clapping] 00:01:27 Moderating this will be Jeffrey Kaufman. I don't have a bio written for him. I'm going to let you listen to him talk about himself and then field your questions. There is – for anyone who wants to participate in this, Jeffrey will give you the opportunity to do so. There's a microphone at the back there, so that the panelists can hear you. Just find me back there, and I will let you speak, and thank you for coming. Thank you everybody. Off to you, Jeff. 00:01:52 [clapping] 00:01:57 JEFFREY KAUFMAN: Thank you. And I actually, since I see my purpose as moderator to be facilitating discussion and this has very little to do with me, I'm going to tell you nothing about myself, so we'll just let that mystery remain. So my purpose is to facilitate these guys talking. This will – if I'm doing my job right, this will be the longest I talk in sequence for the entire night. I do my job to be making sure that they're answering the questions that are asked. I am going to be trying to find areas of disagreement, so if there's too much consensus, I'll hopefully try to rile them up a little bit, and my job is to ask hard questions. There will also be, depending on how good my questions go, either some or a substantial amount of Q&A time from the audience. 00:02:37 So if you – as you're listening to this, if you have questions, make a mental note of them, and there will be time to ask them at the end. That said, this – while this is a debate, it is not going to be a debate with a fixed resolution, so it's going to be somewhat of a discussion aspect, although we will be seeking to find the areas of disagreement between our t...

Immigration proved a central issue in the 2016 Republican primaries, helping eventual GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump emerge from a crowded field of 17 candidates and solidify his standing with a conservative base that is deeply skeptical about immigration. With the focus now turning to the general election, Republican Party leaders, strategists, and intellectuals from different vantage points—the #NeverTrump, #NeverHillary, pro-business, and libertarian wings of the party—are coming at the immigration debate differently, with differing interpretations of how pivotal immigration will prove to be in attracting or repelling voters and constituencies. This panel at the 13th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference delves into the range of views and approaches to immigration that are in play among Republicans and discuss their implications for the next Congress and the future of the party. Panelists discuss the on-the-ground strategy and lessons, their views on where immigration fits in today’s Republican Party, and how the election discourse on immigration is likely to affect the party going forward. Speakers include Alfonso Aguilar, President of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles; Linda Chavez, President of the Becoming American Institute; Daniel Garza, Executive Director of the LIBRE Initiative; Tamar Jacoby, President of ImmigrationWorks USA; and moderator Josh Gerstein, Senior Reporter, covering the courts, justice, and national security issues, at POLITICO. The conference is organized annually by the Migration Policy Institute, Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., and Georgetown University Law Center.
