I never truly know where they'll end up and I enjoy that mystery.”With “Hold Me,” Nikena is most proud of her ability to step out of her comfort zone.“I let the song unfold naturally. I allowed myself to have fun and release myexpectations, even though I'm often very critical of my work. I'm constantly challengingmyself.”Nikena's musical story starts in her native country of Jamaica at the age of 11. One dayshe was sitting in her classroom and the newspaper was delivered, and in one sectionthere was a photograph of Aaliyah with some of her song lyrics.“I thought she was so beautiful,” Nikena said. “This was my first time being exposed toan R&B singer and music. I thought, one day I want to have a song and do somethinglike her.”Soon after, she moved to Brooklyn where her love for music continued to blossom. Sheparticipated in talent shows and singing in choirs as she grew up. For fun, she wouldjust go to the library on the weekends and print out lyrics to music from artists likeBrandy, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera to practice.Nikena became a nurse after college, but her desire to make music was unwavering. Atthis point she was writing and singing constantly, and this when inspiration hit.“One day, I wrote a song outside a laundromat,” she explained. “It was a hot summerday and having just ended a relationship, I wanted to escape the sadness I felt at thetime. I began to think of what I could do to get out of the mindset I was in. I decided towrite a song, not about how I was feeling in the moment, but the complete opposite. SoI started to imagine a romantic escape with a future partner by waterfalls in Jamaica. Amelody came to mind and that's how ‘Water' the first song I ever released came to be.”Shortly after “Water” was written, she had a realization that music was a direction thatshe needed to take. She had an epiphany that was reinforced during an encounter witha woman she was introducing herself to at work. The woman complimented Nikena onher great speaking voice and asked if she was a singer. Nikena mentioned her song“Water,” and the woman encouraged her to go and record it.This was 2019 and Nikena has been in the studio ever since. Nikena loves the processand everything involved, from recording to doing open mics and shows. Since she started she has recorded eight songs and released six, but she has plentymore to go.Nikena is inspired by life experiences and says she 'loves everything about love.' Sheenjoys writing about love and even heartbreak. Whenever she faces a situation, sheturns it into a song. She is also influenced by her Jamaican culture, infusing Caribbean rhythm into hersounds. Nikena added that the music video also displayed her culture through thedancing and attire. “I try to incorporate my culture into my work, even in the smallest ways,” she said.Nikena mentioned that her goal is for people around the world to hear her music. "Iwant people to enjoy my music as much as I do and for them to join me on my journey.”Be sure to check out “Hold Me” and the music of Nikena, available on all platforms.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

The inspiration forthis song hit me when someone hired me to write a song to a beat they provided. Several yearslater, the song was still stuck in my head and I couldn't forget the melodies nor lyrics. So, Idecided to record it myself.”Motivated by the positive feedback Juliera received on the studio recording, she decided totake the song to the public. “My 3-year-old son heard the song and absolutely loved it. Hedanced to it and made me replay it multiple times. I then decided that I would make my musicvideo for this song based on a concept that is fun for kids and adults.” With the original beattied to the first version of the song, Juliera enlisted a producer to create a new sound toaccompany her original lyrics.Blending her Nigerian culture with American influences, Juliera showcases a diversity of soundthrough her music. She began writing around age 16. “I used to write lyrics on paper and oneday my aunt went through my things and asked me if I wrote it, saying ‘it's really good.' I didn'tbelieve her, thinking it was just something an aunt would say. Then I got into college andwanted to see what to do on the side for income. I went on Fiverr and put up a gig to writesongs and lyrics for people.”As fate would have it, “let me see if I can do this” became a successful hustle writing music fornew and repeat clients. It was only a matter of time before Juliera earned over 250 five-starreviews writing more than 1000 songs, many of which were for return customers. “It made merealize I knew what I was doing and how to do it,” shares the artist.“Hero” is one of two songs available by the artist. Two videos are also available for the single, alyric video and official music video. Her other single, “Let It Ache,” is about coping throughheartbreak even when the heart aches. “I didn't want to leave but what I was going through… Iwould rather walk away and take the heartbreak,” tells Juliera of the thought process thatinspired the song. The artist also has eight songs written and four music videos ready for release. She plans toshare new media regularly over the next few months. At the end of the day, Juliera hopes to inspire listeners to follow their dreams. “I think it'simportant for people to follow their dreams and not settle for less. My husband didn't want meto do music. So, I shut my dream away. I pulled my dreams away for this person who ended upbeing abusive and cruel to me… What a joke! Now, I'm happy doing what I love doing and I amdoing better for myself now than I ever did in my marriage. It was almost as if my marriage wasa dark cloud hovering above me and blocking my blessings. I want people to know their worthand choose better for themselves.”

Segun Lawson, President and CEO of Thor Explorations (TSX.V:THX – US:THXPF), joins us to review the recent higher-grade and wide-intercept drill results at the Douta development Project in Senegal and provides an operational review Segilola in 2022. The Company is continuing to expand the resources at the Makosa ore body, which now has grown to a 7km strike length, and also incorporates the Makosa Tail area. 26,000 meters were drilled at Douta this year, doing step-out drilling and infill drilling at the Makosa deposit, as well as expansion drilling around 3 key new mineralized satellite discoveries at the Mansa, Maka, and Sambara targets. There are still drill assays pending for the 3 satellite deposits that will be reporting early in the new year. The next key Company milestones will be to get all these new drill results released and then put into an expanded resource estimate update in Q1 of 2023, and then after that to wrap some economics around the Douta project in a Preliminary Economic Assessment for the market to evaluate. The goal is to expand the resources well beyond the previously reported 730,000 ounce Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for the Makosa Deposit, and to now show the economic viability of the new satellite deposits at Mansa, Maka, and Sambara potentially feeding into a central processing plant in a hub and spoke strategy. We wrap up by also highlighting some of the key near-term exploration and production catalysts at the producing Segilola Mine in Nigera, and how it is looking constructive for hitting their upper end of guidance for 2022. The operations and financial numbers will be reported to the market in early 2023. Segun Lawson, President and CEO of Thor Explorations (TSX.V:THX – US:THXPF), joins us for a comprehensive exploration update at the Douta development Project in Senegal. The Company is continuing to expand the resources at the Makosa ore body, which now has grown to a 7km strike length, and incorporates the Makosa Tail zone and has been connected to the main deposit. In addition to the step-out drilling and infill drilling at the Makosa deposit, the exploration team has been further drill testing around 3 key new mineralized satellite discoveries at the Mansa, Maka, and Sambara targets. Because of the continued drilling success finding new zones of mineralization and infilling key areas of interest, the exploration program was extended again with drills scheduled to keep turning through late December. At that point, the plan is to get all the new drill results released and then put into an expanded resource estimate update in Q1 of 2023, and then after that to wrap some economics around the Douta project in a Preliminary Economic Assessment for the market to evaluate. The goal is to expand the resources well beyond the recent 730,000 ounce Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate for the Makosa Deposit, and show the economic viability of the new satellite deposits at Mansa, Maka, and Sambara potentially feeding into a central processing plant in a hub and spoke strategy. He is a man of great questions and the Lord used his questions to lead him to Christ when he stumbled into a Bible study one day. The missionaries were not afraid of questions and his heart came alive when he heard the answers. Tony's story will take you out of North America and into a world few of us get to see. Please listen and share Tony's story! Stories Tony shared: Growing up in a Muslim family in Liberia where slavery was still part of the culture The racial and tribal division of Liberia in his youth The many questions about his faith that he could not ask The missionaries who were not afraid of his question The differences between how God is portrayed in the Bible and the Koran Making a “mistake” and attending a Bible study The woman who led him to Christ because she was tired of his questions Why he didn't tell his family about his conversion for three years What his mother said when he told her about his conversion The pain of being rejected by his mother and family Walking from Liberia to Ivory Coast His mission to refugees The fruit of mission work throughout the world Learning how to wait for God to open doors Great quotes from Tony: The concept of sin and forgiveness was not in my worldview as a Muslim. In the name of Jesus Christ, demons will have to flee. Who is this guy? You wash five times a day. You pray five times a day. But you can't wash your heart. You can't wash your mind. If I tell you how many Muslims are coming to Christ through dreams and visions, whether from Pakistan to Egypt, Bangledesh to Nigeria, Nigera to South Africa, you won't believe it.
