Ignacio Ramirez Moreno, CFA, is a fixed income advisor at Pictet Wealth Management in Geneva, host of the Blunt Dollar podcast, and Switzerland's number one LinkedIn financial markets creator with close to 20 million views, known for turning bonds and market risk into viral stories with humor and raw honesty.3:00 — Ignacio shares his multicultural upbringing: born in Madrid, raised in Brussels, exchange programs at Warwick, Berkeley, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. Eight countries before settling in Geneva.5:00 — Bogumil traces his own journey: communist Poland, Brussels, Sciences Po in Paris, then New York. Picking up Peter Lynch's One Up on Wall Street in Brussels as a turning point.7:30 — Ignacio's accidental arrival in Switzerland via HSBC graduate program. “They said Hong Kong, then Mexico City, then Geneva — and 15 years later, still here.”9:30 — Both reflect on the gifts of living abroad: expanded worldviews, lifelong friendships, blind spots revealed through different perspectives.12:30 — The origin stories of both podcasts. Bogumil's goal was six episodes; Ignacio started out of frustration after a dinner party where “fixed income advisor” put everyone to sleep while his art-advisor wife captivated the room.16:00 — Ignacio: “Finance is the most fascinating topic in the world. Financial markets touch upon everything — economics, politics, psychology.”23:30 — Deep dive into the craft of asking great questions. Bogumil: “Having a podcast makes me a better investor.” Ignacio preps 50 questions per episode, uses about five to eight.28:30 — The human side of finance. Bogumil: “There's a person with a heartbeat behind the portfolio.” Both champion interdisciplinary knowledge — reading across fields to make unexpected connections.38:00 — Fixed income vs. equities: Ignacio explains bonds as the deepest market in the world; Bogumil shares the cathedral metaphor — “I'm not just picking stocks, I'm putting down bricks that create a cathedral.”48:45 — AI in finance. Both optimistic and thoughtful. Ignacio: concerned for junior roles. Bogumil: “AI empowers us to do more, but the human presence — the doctor holding your hand — can't be replaced.”59:00 — Career advice for young professionals. “Nothing beats passion.” Both agree: genuine interest outlasts any competition.Podcast Program – Disclosure StatementBlue Infinitas Capital, LLC is a registered investment adviser and the opinions expressed by the Firm's employees and podcast guests on this show are their own and do not reflect the opinions of Blue Infinitas Capital, LLC. Among other things, we discuss:How generative AI models like Google's Genie will actually transform the fundamental mechanics of interactive game enginesWhy public markets reacted so aggressively to experimental AI tools by devaluing established gaming and advertising stocksWhether the reduction of production costs through AI will lead to a surplus of mediocre content for consumersIf game companies are making a mistake by prioritizing technical metrics over the cultural and creative aspects of developmentWhat happens to the cost of gaming hardware when AI companies compete for the same high-end chipsets and resourcesHow a move toward smaller, local language models could eventually disrupt the institutional power of large technology corporationsWhen the focus will shift from simple cost efficiency to utilizing AI for creating genuinely new consumer demandThanks to the sponsors of this week's episode of the Mobile Dev Memo podcast:INCRMNTAL. #400 Honest, Equal, Intimate: Keys to a Stronger Marriage

A decades-long research project has learned that the quality of our lives depends on the quality of our relationships. And what a tragedy that so many of us do not have the tools to create deep, intimate, connected relationships. We have a tendency to hide our true selves behind half-truths, behind saying we're 'fine' when we're not, behind being so amenable and accommodating that we never rock the boat. And yet, in seeking to keep things low-maintenance and easy, we are being dishonest with ourselves and with our partner about who we really are, what we really desire and prefer, and we show up instead as a shallow shell of who we really are. Until we truly learn how to be honest with ourselves and with our partners about who we are and what we really want, we will never be able to create the equal partnerships so many of us crave. Learning to live in relationship is a skill, and one that many of us have not learned, let alone even considered. But to have the intimate, connected relationships we innately crave, it is imperative we learn to move into 'we' thinking, considering our spouse and our relationship just as much as we consider ourselves. When we can deeply desire our spouse's happiness and fulfillment just as much as our own, when we truly desire to understand them and be a part of making their life significantly better, then we are on the path to living relationally. If we just want to do what we want, we have no business being in relationship because choosing another person in our lives means we are also choosing to stop asking who is right, and instead focus on what is right for the relationship. But thanks to some wise friends of the show—and a little bit of grown-folks (Foxy) "magic"—we realized we goofed. Non-monogamy isn't a one-size-fits-all situation, and there are many ways to build strong, thriving, sexy connections right from the start. So, we gathered around the mic with our extended poly pod squad for a heartfelt (and hilarious) roundtable. We revisit the conversation, acknowledge the error, and explore the beautifully diverse ways people enter non-monogamy with intention, flexibility, and love. Tune in for some laughs, lessons, and the reminder that getting it wrong can sometimes lead to getting it really right

When we over-function, we are stepping into other people's lanes and taking responsibility that is not ours. When we under-function, we are stepping back and inviting people into our lane to do things that we are responsible for doing. These one-up and one-down behaviors are so detrimental to our relationships and not only stem from our own insecurities but also feed the insecurities of others and promote resentment in everyone involved. Sometimes we go into a one-down space and spin in shame, other times we might go into a one-up space and justify our poor behavior by blaming others, both responses that harm our relationships. Expectation is a funny word. It means that we think something should happen a certain way or that someone should behave in a certain way, two things we rarely, if ever, have control over. In this week's Geek Warning, the tech team — Dave Rome, Alex Hunt, Ronan McLaughlin, and Suvi Loponen — explore AI's role in cycling tech, from training and design to marketing, while questioning even is truly “AI” and what's just advanced machine learning – or marketing. Whether we're all sick of hearing about it or think it has a place in some applications, you'll find out.As the off-season is over (and keeps Dave busy at TDU), it seems we're starting to see more and more new tech drops. This week, the geeks talk through new pedals from OneUp, short cranks from RaceFace, as well as new bikes from Giant and Liv, Stinner, Basso, and Chapter2. There's also chat about some more industry headwinds that have affected REI and Raleigh. And as usual, Brad Copeland joins the pod to answer a few wrenching questions from Escape members with Dave.Maybe it's the Christmas break effect still and we've got a lot of chat in us, but like last week, this episode is longer than usual, but we hope you enjoy it nevertheless.Escape Collective's podcasts are made possible by our members. OneUp Components are renowned for their innovative, high-quality mountain bike parts. In fact, Pinkbike readers voted their dropper posts, handlebars, and flat pedals as favorites in 2024. So, when I heard that OneUp was launching a brand-new clip pedal, I couldn't wait to learn more. Built around the reliable Shimano SPD cleat system, OneUp has engineered the thinnest clip pedal on the market. They've struck the perfect balance—trail pedal weight combined with a gravity-sized platform. And let me tell you, this is the first clip pedal that's stayed on my bike for more than a few rides in nearly 30 years. In today's episode, I'm joined by Peter Skarsgard, the brilliant engineer behind this groundbreaking pedal. We'll dive into the details of the design and development process. We also explore OneUp's philosophy for flat pedal design, compare aluminum vs. composite pedals, and even get a little tease of something exciting coming soon from OneUp in the flat pedal world. So, it's time to sit back, hit play and listen to this episode with OneUp Components' Peter Skarsgard. You can also watch this episode on YouTube here.
