When I think about the power of the last 4 weeks of the year we are completing, and the first 4 weeks of the year to come, I wonder what it would be like if our culture reflected and supported people to: turn inward to their creativity ... turn toward each other in meaningful connectivity... and to tune into their body/mind/heart/spirit for what they needed to restore and regnerate at deep levels. I imagine a world in which we were taught that these last 4 weeks of a year cycle have so much wisdom and freedom to give us ... if we create the space to reflect and honor all we have done and become ... And as we turn toward the next cycle consciously consider what we choose to release and leave behind ... so as we step into the next cycle, we can more fully co-create the next while living the now. Last year, I realized that I had been doing year-end podcasts and blogs since 2007 - focused on avoiding holiday overwhelm, starting and ending the year differently, living with the cycles, completing the year clear ... so much wisdom and practice there still totally relevant - I put these episodes in the Series Library for You Here. This year ... I tuned into what we needed to support us in this bigger cycle shift we are headed into, to elevate the conversation, and open ourselves up to the co-creative power that is here for us ... if we create the space. Here's the Wisdom I Received:Create Space for Inspired Creativity + Meaningful Connectivity + Restoring Your Deeper Wellbeing Tune in and I'll lead you through this to apply in your life and reality now, including: Lean into & Embrace Creativity. Release the pull to more producivity. Use the practice of Reflow and Refocus to create space Create Space for what you are co-creating in the next year/cycle by Releasing the roles, responsibilities, and roots that you no longer need/no longer serve going forward Create Space for Restoring at deep levels - mind/body/heart/spirit - by saying NO to what subtracts from your creativity, connectivity, and wellbeing, and YES to what supports Try the Holiday Self Sustainability Practice - Choose 3 Harmonzing Words + Release 1 Sabotaging Habit and Embrace 1 Supportive Habit It's a juicy way to open to receive in ways that keep on giving, even after Jan 1, in ways that don't add calories or credit card debt :) With great heart, Christine P.S. Founded by a group of innovators, dreamers, entrepreneurs and scientists, Jellatech is on a mission to eliminate animals from the food system, making better ingredient products - starting with collagen and gelatin. Collagen is a by-product of the meat industry (protein in the body). You may be familiar with collagen from seeing it in skin serums, or with its derivative, gelatin, in gummy bears - but it's likely around you much more than you realize. This ingredient is used in a number of applications such as for food texturizers, vaccine stabilizers, pill capsules, the clarification of wine and beer, and many more. Today, the only way to source native, functional collagen is to extract it from animals. This is what they are changing at Jellatech. Jellatech makes functional, native collagen - without animals. Cellular agriculture enables one to produce a more sustainable, smarter high quality collagen that breaks the cycle of relying on an inefficient and unethical supply chain of live animals. Notes: Anuncia Medical has a Re-Flow product to help drain fluid from the brain, treats Hydrocephalus Hydrocephalus is a neurological disorder caused by an abnormal buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles (cavities) deep within the brain. The origin of the word Hydrocephalus comes from the Greek hudrokephalon, from hudro ‘water'+ kephalē ‘head'. Seg 1 Create CFS daily, make 500 mL when you only need 200. When you have too much fluid this is hydrocephalus sis. To treat this you need to put a stunt in the head and the brain and a catheter tube to get flow regulation down the body. Works on pressure remove CFS from the brain down the neck to the abdomen. The tube gets backed up it becomes occluded with tissue. Annuncia has a product called the reflow mini. This is a GEN two device with a valve that can drain the stand. The current set up with the stunt usually last for two years and then a patient is back in the hospital for surgery again. If left untreated, the brain could bleed or tumors. Blood in the CFS. Not uncommon for a patient to have to get repeated brain surgeries at a cost of $30-$40,000 each. People who deal with this might have inclusions in the night which is common as you make more CFS as you sleep. Then you have to go to the hospital and get a neurosurgeon to treat you. Necessity is the mother of invention. A non-invasive medical device with a button on the back of your head which flushes the Catheter. They have lots of data published on the GEN one reflow. Seven patients, nine total in two years they flush the brain two times a day. In the last two years these patients have only needed one surgery first 13 surgeries prior. Seg 2 Mark had a hydrocephalus office at 14 years old. You have to put a stent in, plumbing for the head. Marc has had five surgeries. This is why he got into the medical device business. Has a 32 year career working in metal goal devices and consulting. Originally started at med Tronic and in 2023 joined Anuncia. Treat with surgery. Hydrocephalus is very scary for kids you wake up with a headache and the parents have to rush you to the hospital. The reflow product is maintenance flushing with caregivers and neurosurgeon over seeing it. They have to pass FDA test for clearance and safety. The product must be repeatable and consistent. You always start with pre-clinical tests. The product of a shunt system already existed so Anuncia can piggyback on the current system for faster FTA adoption. Adding a novel component with a process, that used to be down in a hospital with a needle that was very invasive. Current data with their product shows safety. Seg 3 Socrates Study, should be the standard of care. There may be a commercial use in the future. They have published peer review data which is the currency of the medical business, you need data. They sell technically to the surgeons. How do you do this? You do the missionary work of business, you work trade shows and connections. Currently Anuncia has 50 accounts. Typically takes 7 touches to get with doctors, and show them the clinical data. Because of the Internet and widespread information data and stories are out there now for patients to read. Emily Fudge the founder of the Hydrocephalus Association (https://www.hydroassoc.org/) This association has been advocates to help parents and patients and share the information needed. Now parents and patients can walk into the doctor's office and ask if they're a candidate for this type of product Hydrocephalus Assoc. Connect event that meets every two years, patients in patient groups involved learning about new treatments. As a patient convention doctors and companies have to stay on top of the latest developments in the industry. http://hcrn.org/ - Hydrocephalus Research Network https://ishcsf.com/ - Hydrocephalus Society Seg 4 Investors and pharmaceutical companies want to see data, they want to see adoption and sales and money. Business model for a non-CR, the reflow product is part of shunt care. Anuncia sells to doctors and hospitals and then later expects to sell to home care. In the reimbursement world of medicine - ICE 10 diagnostic related groups pay for care and also private insurance or Medicare pay too Cost of $11,000 to $28,000 for care and a total of $40,000 for surgeries plus you have devices in surgery and anesthesia if you can avoid just one revision surgery you have the cost savings to health savings and avoiding infection issues. Value-based payment model of hospitals, amount per patient hospital gets reimbursed. Hospitals do not make money on patients staying. Need to get your studies published on the New England medical journal or the Lancette journal. Nancy has a breakthrough device designated FDA unique product which can get medical reimbursement. Article on Anuncia: HERE ‘Anuncia Medical Inc. Announces Published Data with Promising Clinical Outcomes Using the ReFlow™ Ventricular System In-Line with Hydrocephalus Shunts' Though limited, these recently published data, and others like them, suggest that use of the ReFlow device to maintain flow at home may also have potential benefits as a preventative treatment that could reduce revision surgeries. Anuncia received a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "Breakthrough Device Designation" for this use and is working closely with the medical community and the FDA to design and conduct clinical trials to further evaluate this practice. U.S. cases of hydrocephalus are 70,000, with 45,000 of them being children and 25,000 adults due to accidents or brain damage. Anuncia has other products to deal with CFS management Count of 1 million patients in the US, usually seniors have brain or cranial pressure, which could be hydrocephalus. They have a gate imbalance, brain fog, memory issues and other health issues called NPH. Typically the symptoms are mass because they're similar to health Alzheimer's or dementia. The annunciation aunt can eliminate symptoms in 6 to 12 months. Pens study These patients deal with over drainage. Gary Shafi, a hydrocephalus patient with 8 surgeries. There are 30 million people worldwide who deal with hydrocephalus, and 20 million people dealing with NPH. This has a major addressable market. ** Thanks to Joan Kerber-Walker of AZ Bio for the intro to Stan. Chad Chelius and Dax Castro talk through some of the nuances of the European Accessibility Standard, EN 301 549. Do you know which countries adopted this standard? Some things we found were surprising and others just made sense. Stick around to hear our discussion on Reflow and why it is missing from the accessibility standard.

This is the third interview with Diego who shares how he built and sold Ammo Studio, what he did as an exit founder, and what he's building now with Reflow and what he's learned through the process. We last sat down together in October 2021 when Ammo was just starting out and our first chat was in December 2020 when he was a social media manager. From security guard to founder exit, Diego's story is one that shows what's possible when you embrace the fails along the way. B., Gesierich, B., Laredo, F., Wehn, A. C., Khalin, I., Bayer, P., Liesz, A., Gokce, O., Plesnila, N. Abstract: Incomplete reperfusion of the microvasculature (no-reflow) after ischemic stroke damages salvageable brain tissue. Previous ex-vivo studies suggest pericytes are vulnerable to ischemia and may exacerbate no-reflow, but the viability of pericytes and their association with no-reflow remains underexplored in vivo. Using longitudinal in vivo 2-photon single-cell imaging over seven days we show 87% of pericytes constrict during cerebral ischemia, remain constricted post-reperfusion and 50% of the pericyte population are acutely damaged. Moreover, we reveal ischemic pericytes are fundamentally implicated in capillary no-reflow by limiting and arresting blood flow within the first 24 hours post-stroke. Despite sustaining acute membrane damage, we observe up to 80% of cortical pericytes survive ischemia, upregulate unique transcriptomic profiles and replicate. Finally, we demonstrate delayed recovery of capillary diameter by ischemic pericytes after reperfusion predicts vessel reconstriction in the sub-acute phase of stroke. Cumulatively, these findings demonstrate surviving cortical pericytes remain both viable and promising therapeutic targets to counteract no-reflow after ischemic stroke. On this show, we've discussed many aspects of the electronics assembly process. We talked about reflow, thermal management, printing, soldering materials, additives, and so much more. What do all these topics have in common? When done correctly, they all contribute to the reliability of circuit assemblies. Today, we're going to dive into the subject of cleaning circuit assemblies after reflow. For many assemblers, the cleaning process was replaced by the use of no clean flux technology. Time and technology have eroded the concept of allowing all residues to remain on the assembly. Today, residue caused failures are such a concern, that IPC recently and radically changed the way circuit assemblies are considered to be clean. Mike Konrad's guests are Sal Sparacino and Eric Camden. Sal is sirector of sales at Zestron Americas, located in Manassas, VA. Zestron is a manufacturer of cleaning chemicals for the electronics industry. Eric is lead investigator for Foresite, an analytical laboratory based in Kokomo IN. Eric, is the person you call when things go wrong. Together with my experience as a cleaning equipment manufacturer, we'll discuss how cleaning contributes to increased reliability, and we'll review the reasons cleaning has returned as a mainstream assembly process.

This week's EYE ON NPI is gonna be a hit for anyone who has ever had to add terminal blocks to a design, then dealt with the frustrations and costs of having a mixed SMT/THM process. Presenting... TE Connectivity Board-Mount Surface Mount Reflow Terminal Blocks (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/t/te-connectivity-amp/board-mount-reflow-terminal-blocks). Yes! Almost everyone has created a design that had a raw-wire to board connection. And a super popular way to make a flexible but durable connection with a range of wire thicknesses is to use the tried-and-true Terminal Block (https://www.digikey.com/en/products/filter/terminal-blocks-wire-to-board/371). Digi-Key carries thousands of different terminal blocks in all sizes, pitches and configuration. Multiple rows! Plug type! But they all tend to be through-hole type. Not surprising, because there's a lot of mechanical torque on the connector when twisting, and also a lot of current passes through these connectors - they're often used for power supplies, and motors, that can draw amps. Given that they are through hole, a selective, manual or wave-soldering step is required for manufacture. (https://blog.adafruit.com/2014/03/26/ace-production-selective-solder-kiss-102il-apex-expo-adafruitapex-ipcshow-ipcshow-apexexpo/) And believe us, while these machines are totally awesome - they also require a lot of maintenance and time to run. (https://blog.adafruit.com/2018/07/02/programming-the-crickit-for-selective-soldering-a-deep-dive-part-3-adafruit-crickit-manufacturing-selectivesoldering/) So we try very hard to go with SMT-only processes: it's a lot faster and cheaper to only use one machine than to use two machines where boards have to move through two machines. We've used some "SMT Terminal blocks" before in products like on our buckaroo bonsai (https://www.adafruit.com/product/4534), which only needs 2 wires connected, and low power ones at that. Since hauling all the PCBs to the selective for just two pins is a total pain, we figured its better to go with this 'side insert' type. It works fairly well but doesn't have the adjustability we love with the cage-type terminal blocks. Which is why we are diggin' this series from TE, available in various pitches (3.5mm, 3.81mm or 5mm) and pin counts, from 2 to 7 pins. They look just like your everyday terminal blocks, but with flat rectangular pads that are bend 90 degrees to the back of the package, and mechanical shear/locating dots that will keep the connector from lifting up. They're even packaged in a chunky tape and reel, ready for use in your machine line. Note that even with the locator posts and large pads, you'll still want to make sure that you don't have a lot of force coming in from the front: The posts will protect against torque from the top but probably can't help much if they are lifted up from the front. If you only need a couple terminal blocks in your design and want to save process costs - or if there's a reason you can't go with a through-hole block - these TE Board-Mount Reflow Terminal Blocks (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/t/te-connectivity-amp/board-mount-reflow-terminal-blocks) will do great. And, they're available and in stock at Digi-Key right now! Order today for immediate delivery, so you can be twistin' and terminatin' by tomorrow afternoon.
It's been well over a decade since this guy became a regular on the underground scene, and today he continues to hit up the hottest spots that most artists could only dream about - including: Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Egg, Privilege, and Sankeys. Whilst championing his unique style, he's earned his place as a hugely admired producer, always retaining massive support from kings of the underground - like: Loco Dice, Marco Carola, Joseph Capriati - and further evidenced by a stack of impressive releases on the coolest labels around - such as: Solid Grooves, Moan, Snatch! and Deeperfect - to name a few. In 2022 Reflow is set to release on ‘Roxy Records' (both vinyl and digital) - as well as an EP on his label Reecords, a solo EP on Solid Grooves and on G-Spot - so fans should be sure to keep locked to his socials for any updates as the year progresses.
I have a question for you: "Would you like to start the new year feeling clear - mentally & emotionally? Like your physical space to feel clear and coherent? Like to be free of some of the relationship drama or distress in your personal or professional relationships?" Imagine how you would feel if you had more space in the last few weeks of this year and the first few weeks of next year. Are you exhaling yet? Of course our answers to this possibility are YES! Starting the new year clear is not just a nice to have - it's what any wise person would do. But how do you 'do' that? Especially in the intense year(s) we've been through? My council has been the same for a decade, and it's even more essential in the times we are living in. The wisdom is clear: You put into place simple but mighty practices that empower to you make choices that lead to you working and living and feeling in the f.l.o.w. (Focusing Lifeforce On What matters. The practice I will guide you through today is called a Power Pause (a short and simple one). Power Pauses use the wisdom tool of 'intuitive thinking inquiries' that reveal insights you miss if you only operate from your mental mind vs your higher and heart mind. In this episode of Feminine Power Time: a Power Pause: 3 Inquiries That Will Support Complete the Year Feeling Clear, I will share the FLOW practice I use myself every year at this time, and we do as part of living and working the feminine wisdom way. It includes 3 inquiries that will help you Complete and put energy toward what you really desire to get done and take care of - in relation to your body needs, your money management, your home space, your work & creative projects and your mental space Bring 'twiggly danglers' in your relationships into coherency in a healthy way - parts of relationships professionally or personally in where something it out of whack or alignment, that you know deep down if you don't deal with will come back next year in a more dramatic way. Reflow projects and things you'd like to do but you know there's not really space to do until next year - which will create space for you to savor these next few weeks and the first weeks of the new year. I will also share some very specific examples of what I do to create space, relief and release this way - including just releasing 3800 emails in one hour! What would I love to let go? (Emotional or physical twiggly dangelers you choose to leave behind in 2020) 3. What would feel good and aligned to re-flow (move this into next year)?
Welcome to another week! This episode Chris and Melissa discuss reflow soldering - the high volume soldering method that melts all of the solder at the same time and sets it to the circuit board. Even though it's a relatively simple process, it's a step that is really important to get right. We go over the following:-What is reflow soldering?-Why is it important and why are we dedicating an episode to talking about it?-Types of reflow ovens:Vapor PhaseIRConvection-What is a Reflow Profile?-Types of profiles:Ramp, soak, spikeRamp to spike-What are the different stages of the profile?-What aspects of the PCB design have an influence on how well an assembly will reflow?-----Why are the earlier process steps within surface mount assembly critical to an effective reflow soldering process?-Any design tips to help ensure effect reflow solder?A reminder that our giveaway for free assembly credit is still going on! For details on how you can claim $100 of CircuitHub assembly credit make sure to check out our last episode. If you have any questions about the show, PCB assembly, or just want to say hi you can email us at contact@pickplacepodcast.com or tweet us @CircuitHub or @WAssembly. We'd love to hear from you!

Elliot Williams and Mike Szczys dig through the most interesting hacks from the past week. On this episode we take a look at a portable power bank build that defies belief. We discuss an all-in-one SDR portable, messing with restaurant pagers, and the software that's common to both of these pursuits. There's a hopping robot that is one heck of a PID challenge, and another robot that does nothing but stare you down. We bring it on home with great articles on pianos with floppy disks, and that satellite cluster you should be watching for in the night sky. Show Notes: https://hackaday.com/?p=361762

This is a test of our reflow oven (10x speed). We used a solid state relais with the default heatin elements (top+bottom ones) with a duty cycle of 50%. Start temperature was 24°C, stop temperature was about 230°C. No reflow soldering profile support is in place so far. This test worked far better than the first test, because the heat elements didn't glow, and thus not emitting much IR. Our first test did burn the surface of the PCB while not melting the solder due to the IR. Thanks to @mikelectricstuf for pointing this out in some video.
Marcus gets excited about FTP, I enthuse about Adobe Reflow, we both pretend to care about customer support and then go ego surfing.
