On this episode of The Power of Love Show we welcome special guest, Angila ‘Angie' Hanson. Angie shares her story of immense loss — a journey marked by the deaths of her one-year-old son, Garret, her husband, Jack, her brother, Seth, and her sister-in-law, Brooke. In her own profound grief, Angie Hanson found solace in a mission to change the narrative around grief, to bring light into the darkest moments, and to offer genuine support to those walking the path of loss. She founded Butterflies + Halos in 2022, a greeting card company that seeks to bridge the gap between sympathy and understanding, between condolence and companionship This greeting card company helps create a space for the griever so they feel less alone and show up intentionally for a friend and also help you as a friend send hope into your grieving friend's heart & home. These cards aren't here to “fix” the grief, but to show you care and you are sharing in the grief journey with your friend. Angie also is publishing her first book “Chapters of a Resilient Heart” that will be published in May 2024. She also co-hosts a podcast “From Loss to Light Podcast” touching on all aspects of losses and how people have found their light. Boots Knighton is an educator, public speaker, ski instructor, TEDx speaker, Host of The Heart Chamber Podcast, and Heart Champion for WomenHeart, a National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease. She is also an open-heart surgery and TBI survivor and thriver. Through her podcast, Boots is able to share stories of open-heart surgery and subsequent recovery. She is currently working on three different books, all at the same time, and all related to matters of the heart. Boots shares how the loss of her best friend in an unimaginable sudden and violent manner in 2014 launched her on a path of working with a therapist to help her learn effective coping skills, which also became a catalyst to starting a journey of healing and self-discovery. These skills became a vital part of her recovery from a TBI in 2020, along with learning how to navigate through the convoluted and often confusing health care system as well as the ability to speak for herself and be her own advocate for her health care. Boots also describes the shock of being diagnosed with a heart condition requiring open-heart surgery, the medical gaslighting she experienced along the way, and the importance of being able to stand up, find your voice, and speak your mind, especially when it comes to your own health or the health of a loved one. Most of all, she shares that when it comes to matters of the heart, if we are willing and open, magic will unfold every day in our lives. She also gives valuable information, tips, and insights on how we can all thrive and be at peace, in spite of our life challenges. At one point or another in your life you've been wounded. Forgotten. Rejected. Falsely accused. Betrayed. Becky Harling wants to remind you that Jesus experienced each of those scenarios. But the way he handled it is breath-taking. He chose to forgive. It is easy to read about but difficult to apply. Unfortunately, when we choose to hold on to bitterness, our souls rot. Forgiveness is the choice of the resilient heart. CLICK HERE to learn more about her latest resource, 'Tethered Trust.'See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's Resilient Heart podcast is one to not take lightly. The enemy is out there trying to spread lies that life is not worth living. Suicide is climbing each day and Beverly is in a mission to say enough is enough. Beverly passionately urges those who have lost hope to remember we are all an asset in the kingdom. Even if we have to take one step at a time, one moment at a tim, one day at a time. God will pull you through this. When overwhelming pain was sweeping over Beverly after she lost her son and her husband, she knew she had to make a choice. She had to find a new purpose and new commitment to life. In Psalm 51:1-12, David cries out to God out of desperation and God answers. When we have lost hope, we need to do the same and ask God to bring us out of despair. When you are crawling on the ground and feeling like you don't have a purpose, wake up and make a choice to set your heart towards God! If you have lost your purpose or you think you are of no value, what happened to make you suddenly think those thoughts? Will you believe God can bring healing? Do you believe in a new purpose or new plan? Let Beverly help you to find your why and your purpose. Join our FB group or contact me www.BeverlyShoemaker.com. If you know someone who is struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide, please share the podcast.
On today's episode of The Resilient Heart, Beverly invites her friend and ministry partner, Anna, to join her on the show to discuss her experience as a wife of a husband who suffered from PTSD. Through marital anguish and disconnection, Anna felt at the end of her rope and wanted to walk away from the marriage. Then, God brought Anna a gift of hope: a timely conversation with a fellow married Christian woman. She encouraged Anna to start praying for her hurting husband. Through prayer and speaking Scripture over her marriage, Anna realized there was hope for her relationship with her husband- not because her husband changed but because her own heart softened. Links mentioned in the episode: Www.828foundation.com The mission of 828 Foundation is based off of Romans 8:28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 Anna's heart is in Beloved: a ministry for military/veteran's wives who are struggling in their marriage due to PTSD and fighting biblically for their marriages. Jerry joins the Resilient Heart's podcast today to share his experience of loving Beverly in her moments of despair. Jerry, a professional horse trainer, approached his healing touch with Beverly in a similar way he would training his horses. A new MP3 sermon from Ebenezer Reformed Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: The Resilient Heart Subtitle: The Heart Speaker: Rubén Zartman Broadcaster: Ebenezer Reformed Church Event: Sunday - AM Date: 5/17/2020 Bible: Proverbs 15:13-17 Length: 28 min.
Proverbs lets us know that the heart, the center of human life, is more important even than our outward circumstances in determining what kind of life we have. A heart that fears the Lord and seeks wisdom has sources of comfort that transcend the circumstantial.
Dr. James Mellon reminds us that we don't have to live stories that don't serve us, and to listen to your own resilient heart.

After exploring ‘The Resilient Heart' in their previous episode, Anne and Allie return with observations on new experiences around this theme. It's a season of doors opening and cycles of beginnings that tends to bring resiliency to the surface, but there's still a call for pause, choice, and integrity when things are exciting and fresh.
After months of wading through the misty waters of chaos, Anne and Allie find new rebirth points and explore the resilience that tends to follow.

Changing our habits is hard; they become part of who we are, wired into our ways of being. So if we need to change how we consume, how we relate, and who we want to be, then we have to take the inner journey too. This episode weaves together narratives of writers, artists, yoga teachers, therapists, academics, facilitators, and friends to reflect on journeys into resilience.
Rebecca Faye Smith Galli is an author and columnist who writes about love, loss, and healing. Surviving significant losses—her seventeen-year-old brother’s death; her son’s degenerative disease and subsequent death; her daughter’s autism; her divorce; and nine days later, her paralysis from transverse myelitis, a rare spinal cord inflammation that began as the flu—has fostered an unexpected but prolific writing career. The Baltimore Sun published her first column about playing soccer with her son—from the wheelchair. 400 published columns later, she launched Thoughtful Thursdays—Lessons from a Resilient Heart, a weekly column that shares what’s inspired her to stay positive. Becky Galli was born into a family that valued the power of having a plan. With a pastor father and a stay-at-home mother, her 1960s southern upbringing was bucolic--even enviable. But when her brother, only seventeen, died in a waterskiing accident, the slow unraveling of her perfect family began. Though grief overwhelmed the family, twenty-year-old Galli forged onward with her life plans–marriage, career, and raising a family of her own–one she hoped would be as idyllic as the family she once knew. But life did not go according to plan. There was her son’s degenerative, undiagnosed disease and subsequent death; followed by her daughter’s autism diagnosis; her separation; and then, nine days after the divorce was final, the onset of the transverse myelitis that would leave Galli paralyzed from the waist down. Despite the waves of adversity, Galli maintained her belief in family, in faith, in loving unconditionally, and in learning to not only accept, but also embrace a life that had veered down a path far different from the one she had envisioned. At once heartbreaking and inspiring, Rethinking Possible is a story about the power of love over loss and the choices we all make that shape our lives–especially when forced to confront the unimaginable. You will be inspired by Becky's interview. Her warmth, her attitude towards life and her encouraging words for all of us as listeners are compelling. When asked if she ever felt hopeless, here is her response: I don’t think I’ve ever felt hopeless. I have felt limited, separated from others and the world of mobility that they enjoy. I’ve felt sorry for myself that all of these losses have happened to me. I’ve felt angry that I cannot live the life I’ve planned. But despite the pity and anger, I’ve never lost hope. Sometimes I think it hides from me behind a dark cloud of doubt, perhaps. But it’s never gone entirely. In fact, it keeps me going to find what I can hope for. Sometimes that takes a lot of creativity, and trial and error, and reaching out and asking for help, something that is not (was not) natural for me given my independent nature. I’ve had to learn that others LIKE to help. That it’s ok to ask for it. Here is her interview. You will be encouraged:
