To zjištění mi zvláštně rozšířilo vědomí.

We've spoken before about how podcasting is a great tool for building an audience that sees you as a thought leader. That's still true, but simply having a podcast is not enough. To truly be successful in podcasting, you must know how to engage that audience and be worthy of their time. As our guest Tom Weber says, “You don't have a right to have an audience.” An audience must be earned. Tom shared some insights about the importance of knowing who you're really speaking to. It's not just about demographics; it's about understanding your audience's needs, fears, and desires. We also explored how to build a captivating narrative that engages listeners and how to ask the tough questions that get you honest feedback. If you want your podcast to engage your audience and make it past the first seven episodes, it's worth investing the time and effort to make it truly exceptional. Your audience will thank you for it — and more importantly, they'll keep coming back for more. RTL Today - In Conversation with Lisa Burke

Tom Weber was diagnosed as an adult with autism. We discuss his story, the resources available for people with autism in Luxembourg — along with information for the caregivers who support loved ones with autism. My guests this week are:  - Tom Weber, English - German translator, and published author - Sabine Angelsen, Director CTSA, Centre pour enfants et jeunes présentant un trouble du spectre de l'autisme - Anne Wagner, CTSA - psychologist - Nathalie Oberweis, Head of Learning & Development - Autism Luxembourg - Aleks Panzone, co-founder of T'ees Iced Tea Tom Weber, a colleague at RTL Today, catalysed the topic of autism for this show by writing about it himself when diagnosed as an adult aged 27. Through Tom's awareness-raising of neurodiversity we explore what autism is, how it can present, and what help is available to caregivers and autistic people themselves in Luxembourg. Tom eloquently describes his own personal story, the constant effort of masking, the dark periods and the changes to one's self-perception when diagnosed late. Tom Weber is an English-German translator and this lifestyle fits his requirements for a professional life very well, whilst also giving him time to pursue his own writing of prose and poetry. Tom is a published author and won first prize at the National Literary Competition in 2020. Autism is a very broad spectrum of neurodiverse traits and is more common than we may think, says Anne Wagner, CTSA - psychologist. And yet, over diagnosis can be an issue since there are frequent co-morbidities that accompany autistic people (aggression, ADHD, anxiety, depression, psychosis, for instance). There is a heightened rate of suicide amongst autistic people and a higher rate of divorce for the care-givers. Tom describes the pain of not being able to connect with people and how that can lead to deep depression, which could result in suicide if one doesn't have a strong support network. Sabine Angelsen and Anne Wagner work with children and their families at the Centre pour enfants et jeunes présentant un trouble du spectre de l'autisme (CTSA).  They see children at the point at which some form of issue has presented, but many children find ways to mask their difficulties in social settings. Nathalie Oberweis, Head of Learning & Development at Autism Luxembourg, helps people to develop skills in a safe environment through their various workshops. They provide vocational training, education, and even a day-centre in Sandweiler. They also have some home-help services and a limited number of accommodation facilities. The workplace can be quite traumatic for an autistic person. We discuss what measures an employer could put in place to help this type of mind.  It is often hard to ‘see' neurodiverse issues; they can be thought of as ‘invisible handicaps'. Aleks Panzone is just 23 years old and is the co-founder of T'ees Iced Tea. This (delicious) iced tea is produced by people with Autism in Luxembourg, aiming to raise awareness and supporting them by offering a safe working environment and decent wage. It is only made with local and natural ingredients; no added sugar and no artificial flavours. Aleks is helping people with autism live as fully integrated members of society. https://just-thoughts.net/about/#:~:text=Tom%20Weber%20was%20born%20in,publishes%20books%2C%20mostly%20poetry%20collections. www.autisme.lu https://cc-ctsa.lu/ https://plantatea.com/ https://just-thoughts.net/2023/12/07/the-stranger-behind-my-eyes-27-years-undiagnosed-autistic/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/teesicetea/ LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/company/t-ees/?viewAsMember=true

John Kruth talks us about why we have continued to romanticize criminals in song, raising them to heroic figures. We’ll go behind such legendary songs — and characters — by Townes Van Zandt, the Grateful Dead, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Warren Zevon and many others, whose hits idolized the outlaw and its myth. COVID has decimated the music industry, and nowhere moreso than the men and women behind the scenes of live concert performances. The lighting guys, the techs, the sound guys, the people who build the stages — the roadies.Sandy Espinoza formed roadiecare.com to try and help the millions of people out of work. While we may not be able to enjoy concerts, these people have no jobs and few places to turn. Tom Weber was Eddie Van Halen's long-time guitar tech and recently lost his guitar repair shop because he couldn't pay the rent. Introducing Master Luthier Tom Weber- Eddie Van Halen's Guitar Tech (Intro from the “VH News Desk” Written June 4, 2008) "Ed is a force of nature. I understand the math behind how a guitar works. Ed does things on the guitar that defy the math," said Weber. "I've sat with him and watched him do things that you can't do. Ed doesn't play guitar, the guitar submits to Ed's will. It's truly an amazing thing. It's a very inspiring place to be. For Weber, who logs 14 or 15 hours on concert days setting up gear, stringing guitars, replacing electronic pickups and making sure every instrument is in optimum condition for sound checks and performances, the Van Halen tours represent the latest highlight of a colorful -- and often difficult -- career in music. That "long hard road," as he puts it, includes surviving a battle with cancer in the 1980s. For the past 12 years, he also has served as a guitar tech in stints with Cincinnati rock band Blessid Union of Souls and Poison lead guitarist C.C. DeVille.” Though in demand in normal times, the last few years have been especially trying for Tom, not just with the passing of Ed Van Halen, an employer and friend, but also with the loss of his business at the hands of a predatory landlord, who successfully forced him out of the building where his guitar repair shop had been located for 25 years, while he was on tour! The loss of the business has been compounded by the sale of two other buildings where what remained of Tom's business has been stored. One of the buildings was sold recently, which makes it necessary for him to move yet again, at a time where there is no income, and no potential for work on the horizon in the foreseeable future due to the total collapse of the live entertainment industry because of COVID19. “I'd try to get back into a shop if I wasn't in a position to lose my home” he says, but with the coming expense of having to relocate, or lose what's left of what was supposed to be his eventual exit from touring, and ever growing debt on his family's home, it will soon be a choice between one or the other. "Things are looking pretty bleak at the moment, I won't lie", says Tom. "I have been looking for employment, but am told I am over qualified for the jobs that are available in the area I live in, or that the job is more suited to a younger candidate, and now with the uncertainty about the house, it feels like I am chasing my tail... I'm most worried about how this is affecting my family and the uncertainty each day brings.. I just don't know.." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco0/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/steven-cuoco0/support

Prince died today. I got a call at noon to get into the studio quick - they wanted me on-air. I was Prince's set decorator in the 90's. He called me 'girl chick.' and built countless sets for him at Paisley Park. He had me decorate the inside of his limos and every greenroom at every venue he played. There was a LOT of purple chiffon, purple velour and purple velvet. There was a lot of everything weird kinky and bizarre too, including things that required me to sign nondisclosure agreements. There were the marathon shoots, the secret vault, the time he bought an ice cream truck... Here I talk live on air with Tom Weber and a host of fans, friends and crew calling in to share their memories. I Hope we can do the His Purple Majesty justice.
