It has been over a week since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. As many people in the nation, and the world, continue to mourn, the shocking murder has raised questions about the threat of political violence and what can be done to address it. Executive Vice President of Trump Organization, Eric Trump, joins the Rundown to discuss the legacy of Charlie Kirk, the trauma of witnessing his father nearly killed last summer, and what can be done to address the issue. Trump also discusses his upcoming book, “Under Siege”, and how he believes his family was unfairly targeted by his father's political opponents. The House Oversight Committee has asked the CEOs of social media companies like Discord, Twitch, and others to testify following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Chairman James Comer says, "Congress has a duty to oversee the online platforms that radicals have used to advance political violence." CEO of American AI Logistics, John Cofrancesco, joins the Rundown to talk about why people are drawn to these social media platforms, the challenges of content moderation, and the growing concern over whether or not these sites are leading to radicalization. It's been a hellish week for our Disunited Kingdom. First Tommy Robinson mobilised ten of thousands in his ‘Unite the Kingdom' march. Before we could recover from that toxic side show,  the headline act arrived: President Trump.  He was kept behind a ring of steel in Windsor where he enjoyed British brown nosing at its best from flatterers-in-chief, the Royal Family. What a state we're in.  Coco and Nish reflect on what they learned about their fellow Brits this week and the conclusion is scary. But before they abandon hope there was another march. Thousands of ‘Stop Trump' protestors came out onto the streets of London - to hear from a range of the UK's  loudest progressive voices, from Zarah Sultana, to Zack Polanski and Jeremy Corbyn. Two protests, two faces of Britain. Can we ever bridge the divide?  Finally - to round off the show, an injection of hope. Josie Naughton CEO of charity ‘Choose Love' joins the pod to show us that there definitely is a way through this. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, WREC's Ben Ferguson fills in for Mark. Political violence is a rising trend driven by radical left extremists radicalized by the Democratic Party. Democrats, including leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, are using  inflammatory rhetoric—labeling Republicans as fascists, Nazis, and threats to America—to incite people against opponents like President Trump and Charlie Kirk.  We are witnessing a hardcore desensitizing to the idea you can kill anyone you think is a threat to what you believe in.  Also, the media echo's the Democrat Party. They won't tell you the real story of what happened to Kirk. Some in the media are even claiming that nobody on the left is cheering Kirk's death.  ABC's Matt Gutman gushed over Tyler Robinson, the alleged assassin, and his transgender romance. He called Robison's text's touching and intimate. The texts read like a psycho covering for his transgender lover.  In a normal world Gutman would have been fired. Learn more about your ad choices. FBI Director Kash Patel spoke on Tuesday about a massive rise in the number of investigations into so-called NVEs, which stands for “nihilistic violent extremists.” He defined them as people who “engage in violent acts motivated by a deep hatred of society.” Some experts would use that term to describe the suspect in the Charlie Kirk shooting. Utah prosecutors said Tuesday that the suspect allegedly wrote video game references and online jokes on the bullet casings. We've chosen not to reference the name of the alleged shooter because we think it's important not to give people who commit acts of violence the infamy they crave. To talk more about the online spaces where Charlie Kirk's alleged shooter spent most of his time and the rise of NVEs, we spoke to David Gilbert, who covers disinformation and online extremism for Wired Magazine. And in headlines: President Donald Trump is suing the New York Times again, Israel officially launches its ground offensive in Gaza City, and former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Susan Monarez testifies to a Senate panel about her ouster by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. More To The Story: The shocking assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last week was part of a wider, horrific trend: the rise of political violence in America. But Kirk's murder also seemed to reveal something even darker. Before a suspect was found—when facts were scarce—the race for political retribution was already well underway. This week, Utah prosecutors charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with seven counts related to Kirk's death, including aggravated murder. The charging documents say Robinson described Kirk as someone who “spreads too much hate.” According to prosecutors, Robinson's mother told investigators her son had started to lean to the left politically and that he was “becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights oriented.” She said her son was in a relationship with his roommate, and that the roommate was transitioning. Prosecutors also released a text exchange between Robinson and that roommate shortly after Kirk's death, in which Robinson confesses to the crime. On this week's episode of More To The Story, Mother Jones National Affairs Editor Mark Follman examines America's spiraling political discourse, why early explanations of motive in gun violence incidents are almost always misguided, and why the Trump administration is cutting federal funding for programs meant to prevent violent incidents like Kirk's assassination.Producer: Josh Sanburn | Editor: Kara McGuirk-Allison | Theme music: Fernando Arruda and Jim Briggs | Copy editor: Nikki Frick | Deputy executive producer: Taki Telonidis | Executive producer: Brett Myers | Executive editor: James West | Host: Al Letson Donate today at Revealnews.org/more Subscribe to our weekly newsletter at Revealnews.org/weekly Follow us on Instagram and Bluesky Read: Trump Prepares to Wipe Out Years of Progress on Gun Violence (Mother Jones)Listen: Lessons From a Mass Shooter's Mother (Reveal)Read: Trigger Points: Inside the Mission to Stop Mass Shootings in America (Dey Street Books)Watch and read: No, Charlie Kirk Was Not Practicing Politics the Right Way (Mother Jones) Learn about your ad choices: dovetail.prx.org/ad-choices

This September marks eight years since Donald Trump cozied up to pariah dictator Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt on the sidelines of the United Nations—a secret meeting that reportedly triggered a highly secretive Mueller investigation into whether Trump accepted a $10 million bribe from el-Sisi when his 2016 campaign was desperate for cash. Last summer, Gaslit Nation ran a special episode unpacking this sweeping corruption scandal; you can read a summary here and listen to the episode here. Fast forward to Trump's Middle East tour this past spring, where he once again explicitly told the world that American foreign policy under his influence isn't about democracy or the rule of law: it's about making deals that just so happen to enrich him and his family.  Joining Gaslit Nation to explain what Trump's fire sale of influence to the highest bidder means for the Middle East and us here at home is Ahmed Gatnash, co-founder and Executive Director of the Kawaakibi Foundation, a powerhouse MENA human rights organization, and co-author of The Middle East Crisis Factory. Gatnash brings a razor-sharp analysis of Russia's expanding grip on the Middle East, the unbreakable spirit of the Syrian people fighting for freedom, and the surprising ways bitcoin is being used as a lifeline for human rights activists who know how to navigate its pitfalls. He also tears into the so-called “two-state solution”—overwhelmingly voted on by the United Nations last week—as nothing more than political theater, and shares his vision of what Palestinians and Israelis truly need to secure real, lasting peace. Tucker Carlson recently confronted JD Vance about Benjamin Netanyahu attemps to appropriate Charlie Kirk's legacy after his death, calling it “disgusting” and warning against foreign leaders exploiting such tragedies for political gain. Carlson emphasized Kirk's genuine affection for Israel while opposing endless regime-change wars, showing how he could bridge divides within the conservative movement.  Guest hosts Russell Dobular and Keaton Weiss of the Due Dissidence show discuss the intense pressure Kirk faced from donors, particularly regarding Israel, with reports of him rejecting money tied to pro-Israel demands. They argue that Kirk's growing political infrastructure and potential future influence made the circumstances of his death appear increasingly suspicious, fueling debates within the conservative movement about Israel's role and influence. Plus segments on a whistleblower inside the Christian Nationalist movement exposing Israel's control over leading U.S. Christian leaders and Trump's push to create his own personal paramilitary force. Also featuring Misty Winston and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Speaker of the House Mike Johnson!

Donate (no account necessary) | Subscribe (account required) Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's top stories shaping America and the world. In this episode of The Wright Report, we cover the charging of Charlie Kirk's assassin, Trump's high-stakes trip to the UK, Germany's political and cultural reckoning, Denmark's Greenland pivot, and an unexpected health study on building muscle. From courtroom revelations to foreign policy clashes and even workout science, today's brief connects the dots shaping America's security and daily life.   Charlie Kirk Assassin Formally Charged: Tyler Robinson faces aggravated murder charges with Utah prosecutors seeking the death penalty. Text messages revealed him telling his trans boyfriend, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it.” Robinson bragged about “engraving bullets” and retrieving his rifle from a “drop point.” Senator Mike Lee warned of possible Cuban and Iranian ties to Armed Queers Salt Lake City, while critics blasted ABC News for framing the texts as a “very intimate portrait.” Bryan warns, “This is bigger than one loner assassin… this is a puzzle piece that fits into a Leftist revolution.”   Trump Visits the UK Amid Socialist Criticism: London Mayor Sadiq Khan attacked Trump as a xenophobe fanning “far-right politics,” even as King Charles prepared a lavish welcome. Trump will meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and may also meet Reform UK's Nigel Farage, a move described as “Make Great Britain Great Again.” Bryan says such a meeting would be “sweet revenge” after Labour staffers campaigned for Kamala Harris in U.S. swing states last year.   Germany's Reckoning with AfD Surge: The populist AfD party won record support in western Germany as voters revolt over high energy prices, economic stagnation, and radical Islam. A spate of Islamist terror attacks and growing “no-go zones” in Berlin add to fears, while reports mock German workers as lazier than Greeks or Italians. One slacker told reporters, “There are other parts of life besides work, you know.”   Denmark's Greenland Pivot: After Trump's pressure to secure Greenland, Denmark pledged $250 million for new runways, ports, and defenses against China and Russia. The timing of the announcement — as Trump landed in London — highlighted Denmark's attempt to appease U.S. demands without ceding sovereignty.   Finland and Poland Revive Bog Defenses: Officials plan to restore swamps and peat bogs along Russian borders to bog down invading tanks, reviving a centuries-old defense strategy. Baltic nations may follow, though Germany dismissed the idea as too costly.   Health Research on Muscle Building: Illinois researchers found that lean pork after workouts builds more muscle than fattier cuts, adding to past findings that whole eggs and fresh salmon outperform supplements. Bryan quips, “Get strong… you never know when a Leftist might come for you.”   "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:32     Keywords: Charlie Kirk assassin Tyler Robinson charged, Utah death penalty, Armed Queers Salt Lake City Cuba Iran ties, ABC News Charlie Kirk texts coverage, Trump UK visit Sadiq Khan criticism, King Charles Windsor Castle Trump, Nigel Farage Reform UK meeting, Germany AfD populist surge, German worker laziness Washington Post, Germany Islamist terror Cologne rapes, Denmark Greenland $250 million defense, Finland Poland restore bogs Russia defense, Illinois lean pork muscle building study, whole eggs salmon workout protein

President Trump seems even more angry at the media than usual. His lawyers just filed a lawsuit against The New York Times that First Amendment lawyers are dismissing as a total joke. The suit, however, is also chock full of angry rants that appeared dictated by Trump himself. And he announced it with a Truth Social tirade that boiled with fury. Meanwhile, Trump himself snapped directly at reporters in strange ways, hitting one with a bizarre threat and engaging in a bizarre dominance display over the other. This comes as a new poll from the Economist reveals shockingly low support for Trump among independents, a key metric for gauging political strength—or weakness. We talked to Paul Waldman, who recently argued on his Substack, The Cross Section, that Trump's powers of persuasion are failing him. We discuss how Trump both despises and relies on the media, the real reasons for his mounting anger, and how it's all revealing big cracks in his authoritarian project.  Looking for More from the DSR Network? Americans don't talk about state attorney generals very much. Technically it's “attorneys general”—like “sisters-in-law” instead of “sister-in-laws”—but don't get hung up on the wording. It's what AGs actually do that matters so much.A state attorney general is basically the top legal expert in their state; they're also known as The People's Lawyers because they fight for us, their constituents, against bad actors who don't have our best interests in mind. That can mean prosecuting companies that are polluting waterways or landlords who are illegally raising rent prices or banks that are selling people's private data. Sometimes state AGs band together on lawsuits, like a recent case against Purdue Pharma for aggressively pushing medications like OxyContin and contributing to the opioid crisis we're facing in this country.Unfortunately, we also have a lot of examples of the harm that a corrupt or extremist attorney general can do. (Ken Paxton, for example) But the good news is, we the people have the power to elect them. In all but seven states (AK, HI, NH, NJ, WY, TN, & ME), voters choose their AG at the ballot box. Most attorneys general are up for election in 2026 or 2028, and in one pivotal state, Virginia, voters will get to elect a new attorney general in just a couple of months. This November, Jay Jones—a lawyer and former member of the Virginia House of Delegates—will square off against the current Virginia Attorney General, Jason Miyares. Miyares is a Republican and a supporter of Donald Trump, campaigning for him and supporting his policies. If you live in Virginia, be sure you come to the polls in November prepared to vote for attorney general. And if you don't live in Virginia, chances are you'll have the chance to vote for your own AG very soon! It's not just about rejecting extremism. It's about choosing a “People's Lawyer” who actually works for the people. For a transcript of this episode, please email comms@redwine.blue. We've been long inspired and touched by Robert Redford's career in film and politics. He was a screen idol who challenged America's status quo. From acting in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Three Days of the Condor and All The President's Men to directing Ordinary People and the Milagro Beanfield War, he took on roles, and later directing projects, that questioned authority and brought a cultural weight to America's cinematic catalog. His political work included fighting for and supporting environmental and Indigenous rights causes. He was part of documentary projects about Leonard Peltier, John Trudell and climate activist Tim DeChristopher. In his later years, he supported the campaign against the Keystone XL Pipeline and called Trump a "monarchy in disguise." In our latest, we pay tribute to iconic actor, director, environmentalist and activist Robert Redford. Rest in Peace, Sundance!--------------------Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by Moody

Utah prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder in the shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. The charges include obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and multiple firearm offenses. According to the affidavit, Robinson confessed to both his roommate — with whom he was in a romantic relationship — and his father. Investigators say Robinson admitted that the motive was political. He told his roommate that “some hate cannot be negotiated” and accused Kirk of “spreading hatred.”Prosecutors allege that Robinson carved antifascist slogans into the bullet casings used in the shooting. They say he left behind clothes and a backpack at the scene, both of which tested positive for his DNA. A bolt-action rifle was found nearby. Surveillance footage and Discord messages allegedly link Robinson to planning the attack, though he has not spoken directly to police. His roommate, someone transitioning from male to female who has not been publicly identified, is cooperating with investigators.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. Also at the scene was a second man, George Zinn, who approached police with a knife and told them to shoot him. Zinn allegedly said he had been trying to help Robinson escape. He has not been charged in the shooting, but prosecutors say he was found with child pornography. The two men were not known to each other before that day. This case does not follow the familiar patterns of mental instability or mass shooting chaos. Prosecutors have outlined what they describe as a deliberate, targeted act with ideological motivation. Robinson allegedly stated that he believed the shooting would be “the only way” to stop Kirk. The firearm used was a bolt-action rifle, which indicates planning rather than impulsivity.Governor Spencer Cox, in his television appearances, struck a more composed tone than in his initial press conference. That earlier moment felt like a political speech. Over the weekend, however, he appeared more focused on unity and de-escalation. That stands in contrast to Trump, whose responses were angrier and more inflammatory. The White House has not issued a formal statement, but administration officials have been briefed. One of the major talking points emerging in political media is whether this attack fits into a broader pattern. Names like Paul Pelosi and Ashli Babbitt have been floated — but what happened here is categorically different. The suspect allegedly had a motive, a plan, and a clear ideological framework. This was not senseless. According to prosecutors, it was intentional and politically driven. It's still early, and these are only allegations. But the details laid out so far paint a clear picture: a targeted political killing, carried out in public, with motive stated directly. That's rare. And it's something we'll be forced to grapple with as the trial unfolds.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:02:15 - Charlie Kirk Suspect Arrested00:09:53 - Interview with Karol Markowicz00:53:28 - Update00:54:01 - Pam Bondi Hate Speech00:57:39 - Epstein01:00:15 - Hakeem Jeffries and Zohran Mamdani01:02:53 - Interview with Ryan McBeth01:52:45 - Wrap-up This is a public episode.
