Asian economies, with real GDP growth projected to be 4.5 percent for 2025, will continue to play a crucial role in driving global economic stability and growth, said a report released on Tuesday at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025. The forum comes soon after the China Development Forum 2025, which ended on Monday, and gathered top government officials and business leaders from across the globe. Experts said the forums' key message is crystal clear, that Asia—spearheaded by China—is reinforcing its commitment to openness and stability, presenting a sharp contrast to the rising economic isolation featured by the United States'arbitrary sanctions and tariffs. The "Asian Economic Outlook and Integration Progress Annual Report 2025", which was released on Tuesday, forecast that the share of Asian economies' GDP in the world economy will rise from 36.1 percent in 2024 to 36.4 percent in 2025. In terms of purchasing power parity, a metric comparing economic productivity and standards of living between countries, Asia's share of the global economy is projected to rise from 48.1 percent to 48.6 percent this year. 48.6%。Economies including China, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Mongolia, Cambodia and Indonesia are expected to maintain a high growth rate of over 5 percent this year, the report said. Zhang Yuyan, a renowned economist and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said, "Such an economic performance means that Asia, as a key driver of the world economy, is set to benefit from global economic stabilization in 2025 and will also play a crucial role in contributing to this stability." The report also said that despite economic uncertainties, including monetary policy shifts in major economies such as the US and the European Union, andgeopolitical tensions, most Asian stock markets are expected to maintain an upward trend this year. Amid such growth, China remains the region's most attractive destination for foreign investors. China's vibrant innovation in fields such as artificial intelligence, reflected by DeepSeek, has reinforced its status as asafe haven for entrepreneurship in a world where US sanctions pose increasing risks. Zhou Xiaochuan, a former governor of the People's Bank of China, said at the conference: "China is responding to global demands with responsibility and courage, continuing to provide stability and certainty to the world. As the year 2025 marks the conclusion of China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), China will further deepen comprehensive reforms and expand high-level opening-up.中国人民银行前行长周小川在会议上表示:“中国正以责任和勇气回应全球需求,持续为世界提供稳定性和确定性。是中国‘十四五'规划(2021—2025年)的收官之年,中国将进一步深化全面改革,扩大高水平对外开放。”"China will adopt a more proactive fiscal policy and a moderately accommodative monetary policy, boost consumption, enhance investment efficiency and expand domestic demand across all sectors," he said.他说:“中国将采取更加积极的财政政策和适度宽松的货币政策,促进消费,提高投资效率,扩大各领域内需。”Notably, the report highlighted that the trade war, which was initiated by the US in 2018, has not improved the US' standing in global manufacturing value chains. Instead, the gap between China and the US in this sector has widened.值得注意的是,报告强调,美国自2018年发起的贸易战并未提升其在全球制造业价值链中的地位,反而加大了中美在该领域的差距。Global intermediate goods trade has become more dependent on China than on North America. In 2023, the dependency on China stood at 16 percent, compared with 15 percent for North America, the report said.全球中间产品贸易对中国的依赖程度已经超过对北美的依赖程度。报告指出,全球对中国的依赖度为16%,而对北美的依赖度为15%。Lin Guijun, former vice-president of the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, said: "The latest US tariffs have an impact on all major trade partners, not just China. Other nations are reacting in a fragmented and weak manner, lacking coordinated responses."北京对外经济贸易大学原副校长林桂军表示:“美国最新的关税政策影响的不仅是中国,而是所有主要贸易伙伴。其他国家的反应零散而薄弱,缺乏协调一致的应对措施。”Zhang, from the CASS, said: "While international cooperation once aimed at mutual benefit, many nations have shifted toward azero-sum game, and with the US' new trade measures, the situation has now worsened to anegative-sum game, where countries accept their own losses as long as their rivals suffer even more."中国社会科学院的张宇燕表示:“国际合作本应以互惠共赢为目标,但许多国家如今正转向零和博弈。随着美国出台新的贸易措施,情况进一步恶化,演变成负和博弈——即各国宁愿自身受损,也要让竞争对手遭受更大损失。”"But the world needs a more open economy based on cooperation and shared prosperity. True success comes not just from personal gain but from lifting others up as well," he said.“但世界需要一个基于合作和共同繁荣的更加开放的经济。真正的成功不仅在于自身获益,还在于能够带动他人共同发展。”他说。With the theme of "Asia in the Changing World: Towards a Shared Future", the four-day event has attracted nearly 2,000 participants from more than 60 countries and regions, according to the forum's organizing committee.据论坛组委会介绍,本届论坛的主题为“变局中的亚洲:迈向共同未来 ”,为期四天,吸引了来自60多个国家和地区的近2000名与会者。。Claus Rettig, president of German specialty chemicals giant Evonik Asia Pacific, who is attending this year's forum, said: "We have unwavering confidence in China's growth. Premier Li Qiang will attend the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2023 on Thursday in Hainan province and deliver a keynote speech, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning announced on Monday.Hundreds of delegates from governments, business, academia and media from around the world have been invited to the four-day event, which kicks off with activities on Tuesday and will fully resume offline meetings for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.According to Mao, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Prime Minister of Cote d'Ivoire Patrick Achi and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva will be among those attending the conference. This year's theme, "An Uncertain World: Solidarity and Cooperation for Development amid Challenges", reflects the shared aspiration of the international community for peace, cooperation and development amid complex changes in global and regional circumstances, Mao said at a regular news briefing in Beijing.China hopes that the forum will provide participants with an international platform for exchanges to discuss how to advance peace, development and win-win cooperation and contribute insights to enhancing global governance and people's well-being, she said. The premier has also invited the prime ministers of Singapore, Malaysia and Spain to make official visits while in China, Mao said."The leaders will travel to Beijing after attending the annual conference's opening ceremony in Hainan. Chinese leaders will meet with and hold talks with them respectively for an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties as well as international and regional issues of common concern," Mao said.Singaporean Prime Minister Lee is among foreign leaders who have made the most visits to China, with his latest visit coming four years after the previous one. His six-day visit, which began on Monday, will also take him to Guangzhou, Guangdong province.Noting that China-Singapore practical cooperation is a pacesetter for the region, Mao said China hopes to use this visit as an opportunity to elevate and upgrade bilateral ties and steer cooperation toward higher-quality development. As for the Malaysian prime minister, it will be his first visit to China since he assumed his current position. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership, and the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.It will also be the first time that the current Spanish prime minister has visited China. "Spain is China's important partner in the European Union, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations," Mao said.Sun Xingjie, a professor of international relations at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong province, said China's diplomatic activities with other countries are expected to open up new prospects, as China has pressed the "acceleration button" on its diplomacy. The intensive visits to China by foreign leaders are aimed at strengthening cooperation with China and further stabilizing and resuming economic growth amid the impact of a series of issues, including the Ukraine crisis, energy and food security and supply chains, Sun said in an opinion piece published in The Beijing News.

President Xi Jinping has called on the BRICS countries to inject stability and positivity into international relations in a period of turbulence and transformation. The five major developing countries are expected to firm up their beliefs, brave storms and waves, take real action to promote peace and development, uphold fairness and justice, and advocate democracy and freedom, he said.Xi made the remarks in a video address at the opening session of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting on Thursday. The BRICS countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. This year, China is the host nation of the annual BRICS Summit, and senior officials of the five countries have convened in recent months to prepare for the major event.Officials and experts said this year's summit is expected to boost unity and concerted actions among emerging markets and developing countries at a time when the world faces multiple challenges. In his video address, Xi noted that the impacts of major changes and a pandemic unseen in a century are being combined, and factors of instability, uncertainty and insecurity are increasing in the global situation.Peace and development remain the theme of the times, the aspiration of people across countries for a better life remains unchanged, and the historic mission for the international community to pursue solidarity and win-win cooperation remains unchanged, he said.Speaking on security, Xi mentioned the Global Security Initiative he put forward at the opening of the annual meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia around a month ago, and said that both history and reality tell us that seeking one's own security at the expense of others will only create new tensions and risks.BRICS countries need to strengthen political mutual trust and security cooperation, maintain close communication and coordination on major international and regional issues, accommodate the core interests of others and their major concerns, and respect the sovereignty, security and development interests of each other, he said. They also need to oppose hegemonism and power politics, reject a Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation, and work together to build a global community of security for all, according to Xi.Zhu Jiejin, a professor of global governance studies at Fudan University's School of International Relations and Public Affairs, said, "Considering the severe global economic downturn and challenges posed by the lingering Ukraine crisis, the upcoming BRICS Summit hosted by China is expected to inject more confidence into the world."In terms of development, Xi said that it is more important than ever for emerging markets and developing countries to strengthen solidarity and cooperation. He underlined the need for the five BRICS countries to engage in dialogue and exchanges with more emerging markets and for developing countries to increase mutual understanding and trust, strengthen cooperation, and deepen the convergence of interests. The goal is to make the pie of cooperation bigger and the force for progress stronger and contribute more to the lofty vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, he added."The world is closely tracking how BRICS nations will address and contribute to global security and development given the drastic changes in the international situation that have taken place since February," said Xu Xiujun, director of the International Political Economy Department of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Institute of World Economics and Politics.Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sent a congratulatory message on Thursday to the BRICS Political Parties, Think Tanks and Civil Society Organizations Forum hosted by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.Xi said that the global economic recovery remains fragile and sluggish, the development gap is widening, and the world is facing serious challenges in climate change and digital governance.China stands ready to work with other countries, including other BRICS members, to step up implementation of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and advance the Global Development Initiative to jointly build a community for global development, he said.

英语新闻︱Xi to make key speech at Boao Forum for AsiaPresident Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2022 via video link on Thursday and deliver a keynote speech, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying announced on Wednesday. It will be the sixth time Xi has delivered a keynote speech at the event, held in Boao, Hainan province. This year's forum opened on Wednesday with the publication of its annual report on the economic outlook for Asia and progress in integration. It said that Asia's economic growth this year is likely to be lower than the International Monetary Fund's forecast of 5.2 percent and higher than the predicted global output growth rate of 4.4 percent. The report said the Asian economy will remain in the process of recovery this year, and there will be moderate growth amid mounting pressures from the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, monetary policy adjustments in the United States and Europe, and rising commodity prices.Zhang Yuyan, director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Institute of World Economics and Politics, said on Wednesday that the Asian economy isprojected to sustain its recovery, and its annual growth rate may reach 4.8 percent this year, mainly aided by the growth of China's economy.Despite the resurgence in COVID-19 cases, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and rising commodity prices clouding Asia's economic outlook, East and South Asian economies, such as those in China, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and India, are estimated to see a faster pace of economic recovery than the global level, said Li Baodong, secretary-general of the Boao Forum for Asia.Asian economies will remain the ballast for the world economy and a "booster" for multilateral cooperation, Li added."With the recovery of the global economy, international trade and investment resumed their growth in 2021," the report said."Trade and investment in Asia achieved a bigger rebound in the year, and its share in global trade and investment further increased."Citing the IMF's(speak clearer please) calculation, the report said the weighted real GDP growth of Asian economies in 2021 was 6.3 percent, significantly higher than the negative 1.3 percent growth in 2020 and also higher than the global level. In addition, Asian economies' share of global GDP will continue to grow to(pay attention to the preposition, not”at”) 47.7 percent in 2022.The report said Asian economic integration will be accelerated by the coming into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which is the world's largest trade agreement, involving 15 economies-all 10 members of ASEAN, as well as China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. In addition, it said that China and South Korea's applications to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership will accelerate regional economic integration in Asia, which will greatly boost the global economic recovery of trade and investment in the post-COVID-19 era.Fueled by continued liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment, trade and investment in Asia are expected to maintain their growth momentum in 2022.In Asia, China is seen as a "stabilizer" in regional trade, contributing significantly to the recovery of the Asian economy, the report said.Sang Baichuan, an economics professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, highlighted China's faster-than-expected 4.8 percent year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2022 despite a weakening in economic activities in March amid resurgent domestic COVID-19 cases, saying that this demonstrates the strongresilience of China's economy. However, he warned of the gap between first-quarter growth and China's annual growth target of around 5.5 percent for 2022, and called for measures to step up macroeconomic policy support.Themed "The World in COVID-19&Beyond: Working Together for Global Development and a Shared Future", the Boao Forum for Asia is expected to focus on international unity and global cooperation, with a key focus on post-pandemic development.project英 [ˈprɒdʒekl];美 [ˈprɑːdʒekt]v.

This speech can be said to be teaching the United States a good lesson on what is the responsibility of a major country.1. Big countries should be concerned about the general trend of the world and have the development and well-being of all mankind in mind. 2. Regarding the development of human society, China not only has a road map, but also an implementation planChina Explained will show you that because of China's continued success in industrial upgrading, technological innovation and realizing its huge potential, it is an unstoppable process. John Burris, civil rights attorney, joins us to discuss the Derek Chauvin trial results. Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering George Floyd. The jury deliberated for approximately one day, and found Chauvin guilty of all charges levied against him. Dr. Emmit Riley, political scientist and assistant professor of Africana Studies at DePauw University, joins us to discuss the Derek Chauvin trial. The discussion revolves around the current and long-term social and legal impact of the guilty finding. Is this example of police personnel testifying against a fellow officer a harbinger of things to come, or an anomaly that only happens in the most egregious examples of police misconduct?Mark Sleboda, a Moscow-based international relations security analyst, joins us to discuss Russian President Vladimir Putin's address to the Federal Assembly. Putin's address focused principally on domestic issues, such as the coronavirus response and the prospects for subsequent economic recovery. However, he also urged other nations to refrain from crossing Russia's geopolitical "red lines." Nick Davies, peace activist and author of "Blood on Our Hands, the American Invasion of Iraq," joins us to discuss Chinese President Xi's recent speech. Speaking virtually at the "Boao Forum for Asia," Xi's remarks that "no nation should dictate global rules or interfere in the internal affairs of other nations," was clearly directed towards the United States.Gerald Horne, professor of history at the University of Houston, author, historian, and researcher, joins us to discuss the America First Caucus. A movement for a GOP-led "America First" caucus in Congress is flailing, as major pushback has occurred shortly after its manifesto was revealed. The document has the appearance of a cookie-cutter GOP policy platform with a sprinkle of Trump-style right-wing populism. Chris Hedges, author, speaker, and investigative journalist, joins us to discuss his latest article "The Unraveling of the American Empire." Hedges argues that the pattern of stumbling from one military debacle to another is a sign of a crumbling empire. He sees Afghanistan as "one in a string of catastrophic military blunders that herald the death of the American empire." Scott Ritter, former UN weapon inspector in Iraq, joins us to discuss Israel's attempts to stop the US from returning to the Iran nuclear deal. Israel's recent moves have been brilliantly countered by Iran in a dangerous chess game that has left America's Middle East proxy with few options. Iran's latest move to enrich uranium at 60% in response to Israel's attack on their Natanz nuclear facility has made it more important for the US to return to the agreement.Ray McGovern, former CIA analyst and co-founder of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, joins us to discuss Caitlin Johnston's latest article on the CIA's influence on the media. Johnstone argues that the CIA no longer needs to infiltrate or influence the media because most of the media partners directly with the nefarious organization.

But the Asian economy will experience recovery this year, with a growth rate of more than 6.5 percent. The report attributed the relatively high growth rate to effective epidemic control and production resumption in China and South Korea, among other factors. The digital economy has also helped promote production resumption, stabilized the economic situation, and become a new driving force.

If you were doing business with a knife, then it wouldn't be business anymore.” We chat about a recent report from a U.K. watchdog, which said that further issues have been identified in Huawei's engineering processes that pose additional risks to Britain's telecom networks. We analyze a new report from Huawei, which released data for its performance last year. It hit a sales record of $100 billion in 2018, up 20 percent year-on-year, with net profit climbing 25 percent. We hear the news that top Chinese liquor brand Kweichow Moutai's Shanghai-listed stocks closed at a record high of $128 last Friday as the company reported strong profit growth in its 2018 earnings report. We report that China will issue 5G wireless communications licenses by year-end as the country pushes aggressively into the cutting-edge technology that could power everything from self-driving cars to telemedicine. We learn that JPMorgan Chase and Nomura Holding won approval to set up new securities joint ventures in China with majority foreign ownership as regulators followed through on a promise to open up the country's financial markets. We note that shares of Chinese companies linked to growing cannabis plunged last week after several firms were asked to disclose progress on industrial cannabis projects. In addition, we talk with Caixin managing editor Doug Young about the IPO of a Chinese online education company and a string of recent news in the auto industry in China.

This week seems to be … not really better, but at least they’re no longer actively threatening to cause each other pain. This may just be the calm before the storm however. China’s media machine seems to be pumping itself up for the Boao Forum, a Chinese economic summit similar to Davos. Chinese President Xi Jinping will take centre stage at the forum.
