-Rob argues the Democratic Party is sprinting toward democratic socialism while moderates, working-class voters, and even Bill Maher seem to be looking for the nearest exit before someone proposes abolishing something else. -Former federal prosecutor Doug Burns joins Rob to discuss election integrity efforts, potential penalties for officials who fail to secure voter rolls, the SAVE Act, and why he believes proposals to abolish constitutional institutions have no legal footing. Burns also dismisses New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani's suggestion that Benjamin Netanyahu could be arrested in New York as legally impossible and political theater. Shame Attacking: A Surprising Cure for Social Anxiety Hosts: Kevin Cornelius, LMFT Dr. David Burns Episode Summary Many people believe social anxiety is caused by low self-esteem, poor social skills, or awkwardness. But what if the real culprit is shame? In this episode, Dr. David Burns and Kevin Cornelius explore one of the most powerful—and unconventional—tools for overcoming social anxiety: Shame Attacking Exercises. Drawing from Dr. Burns' recent Psychology Today article, Shame Attacking: Overcoming a Lifetime of Social Anxiety, they tell the remarkable story of Martin, a handsome young man whose intense shame about excessive sweating had left him isolated and unable to connect with others. Through a series of courageous shame-attacking exercises, Martin discovered something life-changing: the world was far kinder and less judgmental than he imagined. Along the way, David shares how he first learned shame-attacking exercises from followers of psychologist Albert Ellis and describes his own unforgettable experience of asking strangers in a crowded New York restaurant if he could sample their food. The episode highlights how bringing our perceived flaws into the open often causes shame to evaporate—much like a vampire exposed to sunlight. In This Episode The Origins of Shame Attacking Exercises David's introduction to Albert Ellis's famous technique Why therapists should never ask patients to do something they wouldn't do themselves The surprising results of David's first shame-attacking exercise in a crowded Chinese restaurant Martin's Story A young man whose fear of sweating kept him trapped in loneliness How shame—not sweating—was the real problem A therapy session unlike any other: jogging through Philadelphia, getting intentionally soaked, and publicly announcing his "flaw" What Happened When Martin Stopped Hiding Why strangers responded with warmth instead of ridicule How exposing his greatest fear challenged years of distorted beliefs The unexpected encounter that changed his social life forever Shame Is Like a Vampire David introduces a memorable metaphor: Shame survives in darkness and secrecy. When exposed to the light, it shrivels up and dies. The discussion explores how openly acknowledging our imperfections can dramatically reduce anxiety and self-consciousness. The Hidden Cost of Taking Ourselves Too Seriously David and Kevin discuss: Why humor can be a powerful antidote to social anxiety The value of becoming more playful and less self-focused How social anxiety often convinces us that everyone is watching and judging us when they're usually not Guidelines for Shame Attacking Exercises David emphasizes that shame-attacking exercises are powerful but should be used thoughtfully. Some important principles include: Be Respectful Exercises should never disrupt places where people deserve peace and privacy, such as hospitals, churches, or synagogues. Be Playful, Not Aggressive The goal is to laugh at yourself, not make others uncomfortable or upset. Don't Wait Until You're Ready The breakthrough often comes when you act despite feeling anxious. Therapists Must Lead by Example If therapists want patients to challenge shame, they should be willing to challenge their own shame as well. Memorable Takeaways The problem is rarely the flaw itself—it's the hiding. Most people are far less judgmental than we imagine. Courage grows through action, not waiting for fear to disappear. Humor and playfulness can dissolve shame. Vulnerability often creates connection rather than rejection. The world may be much friendlier than your anxiety predicts. Featured Article This episode is based on Dr. David Burns' Psychology Today article: "Shame Attacking: Overcoming a Lifetime of Social Anxiety" The article explores Martin's story in greater detail and illustrates how shame-attacking exercises can transform social anxiety by challenging both self-criticism and fears of rejection. We look back on a dramatic finish at Royal Birkdale, where Ryan Fox closed with a strong Sunday round and won on the 72nd hole. We say he stayed composed under pressure, kept executing shots, and handled some very unlucky breaks on the closing holes without letting them affect him.We also discuss how the course played over the week. We say it was firm, dry and much harder in the afternoon, while the morning wave had the best scoring conditions. We note that the changes to the course produced strong championship golf, with several holes forcing players to choose different clubs and strategies. We reflect on the other main contenders, especially Sam Burns, Tommy Fleetwood and Scottie Scheffler. We say Burns started well but made a series of errors that took him out of the lead, Fleetwood had a very strong week but faded late, and Scheffler struck the ball well but lost many strokes on the greens.A large part of the discussion focuses on the Bryson DeChambeau ruling and the difference between that incident and Scottie Scheffler's ruling on 17. We say the rules were applied in different ways, that the evidence and intent were debated, and that the decisions raised questions about consistency and about how golf polices itself. We finish with the wider context of Fox's win, including his New Zealand sporting background, the significance of the result for New Zealand golf, and a few lighter notes on the week's other winners and losers, including the event's attendance, the amateur performances, and the people behind the tournament setup. Andy returned to join Brendan! for this beefy recap of moving day at Royal Birkdale. The two went LIVE on YouTube right after play ended to discuss the fallout from Bryson's two-stroke penalty, Rory McIlroy's response, and the actual golf tournament that's unfolding. Andy gives his take on the Bryson situation and the two-time major champion's impressive Saturday round that still has him in contention for his first Claret Jug. Rory McIlroy, pending insanity, is not in contention to win, but did offer some pointed thoughts about the penalty and the penalized player in his post-round press conference. Kevin Van Valkenburg stops in to share more thoughts from the ground, including some comments from other players about the penalty and how it was handled by the R&A. Brendan spent the day following the tournament's leader, Sam Burns, who looks to move past the heartbreak of Oakmont, Augusta, and Shinnecock and secure his first major on Sunday afternoon. Andy and Brendan play a lengthy game of Contender or Pretender, highlighting a strong top of the leaderboard after big Saturday rounds from Si Woo Kim and Ludvig Åberg. PJ is called to the carpet to explain Cameron Young's failure to launch despite his place in the penultimate group on Saturday and provides some context for Kevin Kisner's mid-day tweet-spree. To close things out, Brendan once again quizzes Andy on some of the insane official slogans of the Open Championship, found in various places around the golf course this week. We will return on Sunday evening with a comprehensive recap of the 2026 Open Championship and continued coverage of Bryson DeChambeau's latest exploits! Despite two record-tying rounds of 62 on Friday at Royal Birkdale, Bryson DeChambeau remains the lead story yet again. Brendan, Kevin Van Valkenburg, and Joseph LaMagna went LIVE on YouTube to recap the second round of the 2026 Open Championship, only to have a two-shot penalty assessed to DeChambeau, then in second place, derail the entire show. The three reacted in real-time to the theatrics playing out on the fifth hole, where DeChambeau re-enacted his movements from earlier in the day in front of rules officials from the R&A. Kevin went to go scout out the scene on the ground, leaving Joseph and Brendan to make sense of what was unfolding. The two-shot penalty moved DeChambeau from solo second, just one shot back of Lucas Herbert, down to a tie for fifth alongside Sam Burns and Si Woo Kim. Joseph, Brendan, and PJ do highlight standout the two 62s from Burns and Herbert, as well as the continued strong play of Cameron Young and Ryan Gerard, but the majority of this episode is spent on Bryson and the ensuing ruling that could cost him his third major championship. The three mention notable missed cuts before setting the scene for a weekend at Royal Birkdale that is sure to deliver, even more than we originally thought! A jam-packed Friday on The Marc Cox Morning Show tackled election integrity from every angle, starting with President Trump's heavily redacted document release revealing 278,000-plus non-citizen voter registrations, hacked state election systems, and a buried Michigan voter fraud scheme, all while ABC, NBC, and CBS refused to air the speech. Cybersecurity expert Mark Cook demonstrated live how easily voting machines can be manipulated, fueling the show's push for Amendment 4 reform and the Save America Act, backed by Congressman Bob Onder's on-air breakdown of the bill's path through reconciliation. Jim Carafano weighed in on escalating Iran strikes and confirmed foreign hacking threats to U.S. elections, while local news covered Cori Bush's questionable campaign payments, a new County police chief's public safety priorities, and Senator Josh Hawley's fight over mail delays. Two women, Nicole Murray on business and Trisha Burns on the Senate campaign trail, delivered standout moments, with Burns exposing a fabricated smear tied to her real work fixing the broken 988 crisis line. Pat Burns highlighted the youth sports officiating shortage, and the show closed with the Guns and Hoses Queen of Hearts raffle and family birthday celebrations. Faith, family, freedom, and election integrity, that was the heartbeat of the show heading into the August 4th Missouri primary. Pat Burns of PSB Officiating Services, who assigns referees and umpires to about 95 area schools, joins the show to explain a shortage hitting youth sports across the board. Burns says the average high school official is now in his early 50s, with too few young people stepping in to replace them, even as leagues like Parkway Rockwood host over 500 youth basketball games on a single Saturday. He shares harrowing stories, from a parent shoving a referee decades ago to being spit on by a player, and argues today's abuse isn't necessarily worse, just more visible thanks to social media amplifying every ugly moment. The takeaway for parents and grandparents alike: respect the people willing to do a thankless job, or there won't be anyone left to call the game. Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that Diane Jenkins' (Susan Walters) struggle to rebuild her life takes center stage. After surviving a kidnapping ordeal by the deranged Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) and the obsessed Dr. Laurence Markham (Jere Burns), she is now back home, bringing relief to her son Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). However, the question remains if the danger has truly passed, with the potential of another kidnapping lingering ominously in the air. Y&R spoilers indicate that Diane's clever manipulation of Dr. Markham, who had been paid by Patty to keep her captive, led to her escape. However, her strategy of flirting with the doctor to gain the upper hand might have unforeseen consequences. The flirtations seem to have made a lasting impression on Markham, fueling his obsession with her. Now missing, Markham's whereabouts are unknown, causing unease for Diane, while others, including Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Kyle, seem to dismiss the threat he poses. Spoilers for Young and Restless see the drama heightens when Diane and Kyle return home to find Jack stabbed and bleeding out. Without proper investigation, the police arrest Diane based on Patty's false accusations, leading to an uphill battle to clear her name. With Patty now locked up and Markham missing, the seemingly safe environment could quickly turn hostile for Diane and Jack. More Y&R spoilers suggest that the storyline's suspense is heightened by the fact that it is unclear if Burns has concluded his role, hinting at the potential return of the menacing Dr. Markham. As CBS is still in the process of hiring a new writer, fans can expect more of this thrilling narrative in the upcoming episodes. In 1929, there were twenty-two thousand movie theaters across the United States. Now… we’re down to fewer than three thousand. In his new documentary “The Last Picture Shows,” local filmmaker Rustin Thompson chronicles the life, death, and resilience of many of these small town theaters across the American West. Thompson drove through ten states and visited scores of theaters… both open AND closed… to tell the story of small town cinemas, and the people who keep them running. People like Tiny Pedersen, of the Desert Historic Theater in Burns, Oregon: “ We don't have anything else here. There's not a bowling alley. There's not a video game machine. There, there's absolutely nothing else for high school kids or teenagers or even young adults to have a night out on the town with a date.” The film is a postcard of American life and a love story to a part of it that seems to be fading. Today we meet one of the sharpest satirists of the last 40 years, Harry Shearer. We could also say Mr. Burns or Kent Brockman -- two of the Simpsons characters he voices. Or we could say the the long term host of a weekly comedy and music program called Le Show, as well as the creator of great comedy albums with The Credibility Gap as well as solo. And oh yeah, Harry was part of the crew that came in to rescue SNL as it floundered after the original cast departed. Or, perhaps he is Derek Smalls, bassist for the mockumentary rock kings Spinal Tap. Check it out to find out more -- as always there are extra clips below and thanks for sharing our shows! Want more Harry Shearer? Harry provides so many great voices for the Simpsons it's hard to keep track, but here is a fun sampling. https://youtu.be/3X2JLl9U4Rw?si=eEDJiukahjM56VEw Harry has two short runs on SNL in the 1980s and while he didn't stay long his bits remains classic. This one features Harry and Martin Short as the world's first male synchronized swimming team. https://www.reddit.com/r/LiveFromNewYork/s/eTMzv1qmyw The Credibility Gap isn't as well known as the Firesign Theater, but they should be. A creation born of the LA radio scene in the early 1970s, the Gap specialized in precise takedowns - including this homage to Abbott and Costello's classic Who's on First. https://youtu.be/YEvwW1yqIjA?si=yd-92mP5Km6YLqUV

Conquering Social Anxiety: The Courage to Reach Out Hosts: Kevin Cornelius, LMFT Dr. David Burns In this deeply moving episode, Dr. David Burns and Kevin Cornelius explore one of the most painful and misunderstood forms of anxiety: social anxiety. David shares a remarkable true story about a wealthy and highly successful businessman whose severe social anxiety left him feeling isolated, ashamed, and unable to connect even with his own family. Despite his power, wealth, and accomplishments, he secretly believed there was something deeply wrong with him because he felt anxious around people. Through an unforgettable exposure exercise involving radical self-disclosure on a public train, David illustrates how shame loses its power when it is brought into the open—and how genuine human connection can emerge when we stop hiding our perceived flaws. This episode explores: Why shame—not low self-esteem—is often at the core of social anxiety How secrecy fuels anxiety and emotional suffering The healing power of vulnerability and authenticity Why exposure exercises can create rapid breakthroughs How therapists can unintentionally reinforce hopelessness The difference between treating a diagnosis and treating a human being The surprising warmth and compassion people often receive when they stop pretending to be "special" David and Kevin also discuss: Why TEAM-CBT is never a "cookie-cutter" approach The importance of courage in overcoming fear "Reverse hypnosis" and how anxious thoughts persuade people they are incapable Why meaningful change often requires stepping directly into discomfort How human connection—not status or achievement—creates joy One especially memorable takeaway from the episode:"When I give up my need to be special, then life can be special." Key Themes Social Anxiety Shame and Vulnerability Exposure Therapy TEAM-CBT Self-Disclosure Human Connection Courage and Emotional Healing Memorable Moments David describing the businessman arriving at a modest hospital in a limousine with bodyguards The patient's emotional transformation after talking openly with strangers The realization that most people respond with kindness rather than judgment David's reflection that "magic is available to most of us most of the time" Kevin's observation that the patient "had everything—and yet nothing" About the Next Episode Next week, David and Kevin explore another powerful treatment for social anxiety inspired by Albert Ellis: Shame Attacking Exercises—a bold and often life-changing approach to overcoming fear of judgment. In this episode, Dennis sits down with Brock, a civilian critical care flight paramedic who flies Medevac in the States, to break down what it actually takes to move a sick patient from point A to point B — and why drone evacuations are nowhere near as simple as the headlines suggest. They cover the real decision matrix behind scene calls versus interfacility transports, why time-sensitive patients (STEMI, stroke, major trauma) get priority, and the constant safety calculus of weather, maintenance, and crew fatigue. Brock reveals the shocking frequency of “stable” hospital patients who decompensate the moment transport begins — and why the dynamic environment of movement, vibration, and altitude changes everything. They also tackle the hard questions around drone evac: What kind of patient is actually stable enough to fly without a provider? What technology gaps (remote vent/pump titration, redundant IV access, real-time monitoring) must be solved before drones can handle true critical care? And why drone resupply might be the capability we should be training on right now.If you're a medic, planner, or leader betting on unmanned systems to solve evacuation problems in austere or contested environments, this conversation is your reality check.Key Takeaways:Scene crews decide destination based on capability; interfacility decisions are physician-driven.Over-triage happens — CCT assets sometimes get used for patients who could go ground. The “3 to go, 1 to say no” rule keeps aircraft missions safe (weather, maintenance, fatigue).Patients stable in the static hospital environment frequently decompensate once transport starts.True ICU-level patients on vents and drips currently require human titration that drones can't provide.Drone resupply is already viable and should be trained aggressively now.Realistic logistics training prevents dangerous “training scars” in younger medics.Chapters00:00 – Welcome & Why Drone Evacs Are the New Hotness (But Not That Simple)00:27 – Guest Intro: Brock, Civilian Critical Care Flight Paramedic01:59 – Scene Calls vs Interfacility Transports: Who Actually Decides?03:45 – Over-Triage Problem: Using CCT Assets on Patients Who Could Go Ground04:46 – Key Decision Factors: Time-Sensitive Patients (STEMI, Stroke, Trauma, Burns)06:56 – Aircraft Safety Culture: Weather, Maintenance Packages & Crew Fatigue (“3 to Go, 1 to Say No”)09:31 – Ground Critical Care Trucks as Backup When Weather Grounds Flights11:12 – Drone Evacs: What Kind of Patient Is Stable Enough for Unmanned Transport?13:32 – The Core Problem: Static Hospital vs Dynamic Transport Environment15:57 – Why Patients Decompensate in Transport (Real Examples from the Street)18:48 – What Drone Critical Care Would Actually Require (Remote Titration, Redundancy, Monitoring)21:44 – When It's Safer to Leave the Patient Where They Are22:48 – Drone Resupply: Already Working and Why We Need to Train It Now27:03 – Logistics Nightmares in Critical Care Transport28:50 – Training Scars: Why Realistic Logistics Training Matters for Medics29:58 – Closing Thoughts & Where to Find More PFC ContentFor more content, go to www.prolongedfieldcare.orgConsider supporting us: patreon.com/ProlongedFieldCareCollective or www.lobocoffeeco.com/product-page/prolonged-field-care
Leadership isn't defined by a title, it's revealed through how we serve, connect, and empower others. In Part 2 of our conversation with Dr. DeAngela Burns-Wallace, we dive into her book Made for This and explore how faith, purpose, courage, and authentic relationships shape meaningful leadership. She shares why investing in people always creates lasting impact and how leading with compassion builds stronger communities. From mentoring future leaders to navigating uncertainty with confidence, this episode offers practical wisdom for anyone striving to live and lead with intention. Dr. Burns-Wallace reminds us that our greatest legacy isn't what we accomplish. It's the lives we encourage, uplift, and inspire along the way. Key Takeaways: Leadership begins with relationships, proving that genuine connection creates stronger teams, deeper trust, and more meaningful results than authority alone. Leading through uncertainty requires both courage and compassion, allowing us to make difficult decisions while staying grounded in our values. Everyone has unique gifts and a purpose, and embracing those talents with confidence creates lasting impact in our communities and workplaces. Mentorship and sponsorship change lives by opening doors, encouraging growth, and helping others recognize potential they may not yet see in themselves. The greatest legacy isn't measured by titles or achievements, but by the people we've empowered, the lives we've influenced, and the opportunities we've created for others. When the Prophet Elijah challenges 850 prophets of Baal to prove Who is the ONE TRUE GOD, the devil and his demons fail to bring the fire on the offering to the idol, Baal. But when Elijah pours water on the sacrifice offered to God, the wood, the altar and even the dirt, God sends fire from heaven! “‘O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that You have brought them back to Yourself.' Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—He is God! Yes, the Lord is God!” 1 Kings 18:37-39 NLT #Biblestoriesforkids, #Biblelessonsforkids, #storiesforchristiankids, #Bibletruthsforkids, #buildingachildsfaithinjesuschrist, #kids,
