At a time repeatedly declared one of the most politically polarized, even the comfort of the family living room can become a hotbed for contentious debate. A new play by Isaac Gomez RADICAL or, are you gonna miss me?  tells the sweeping story of a recently “radicalized” woman on the Mexican-American border, and hauntingly displays how the impact of her radicalization hits close to home. So using the events of the play RADICAL or, are you gonna miss me? as a launching point for a timely conversation – Host Andrea Ambam sat down with Isaac Gómez (Playwright), Glauz Diego (Director of Arts & Culture, Community Coalition LA), and Cecilia Márquez (Historian, Author &,  Professor) to debunk the myths and misconceptions about BIPOC groups and political affiliation, explore the societal impacts of an ever-growing ideological divide, and to answer the question: what is the role of storytelling in rebridging our ability to sit in the living room with one another? MORE TO TALK ABOUT (MTTA) is Level Forward's Anthem Award-winning audience engagement platform that uses story to ignite culture-shifting conversations, activations, and community-building experiences. The presence of Latinx people in the American South has long confounded the region's persistent racial binaries. In Making the Latino South: A History of Racial Formation (UNC Press, 2023), Cecilia Márquez uses social and cultural history methods to assess the racial logics that have shaped the Latinx experience in the region since the middle of the twentieth century. Structuring her argument around several major themes that frequently signpost the history of the South and of race relations in the United States--the rise of an increasingly mobile middle class, the civil rights movement and fight over school integration, the growth global connection of the region's economy, and political conflict over immigration--Márquez reveals how Latinx people in the South have confronted both whiteness and antiblackness, and how cultural boundaries to exclude Black people from full participation in the life of the region and nation have been essential to the construction of Latinx as a category. Exposing the harmful consequences of society's obsession with highly rejective (and expensive) universities, educator Cecilia M. She also describes the incredible data MACN has compiled on corruption incidents and risks in the sector, which it uses to push for change. Detailed examples from Argentina and Nigeria show how the model works in practice and provide evidenced examples of change.

Trey Suntrup, PhD is a product engineer who earned his doctorate in physics and electrical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2015. He is currently the Head of Product at Readout Health, the St. Louis startup that recently launched the Biosense breath ketone meter. Following a successful clinical trial in the autumn of 2019, Biosense has entered the consumer, clinical, and research market as a tool to help those wanting to lose weight or manage blood glucose with a ketogenic diet. On this podcast, Trey discusses breath acetone testing and how it can be used to improve health outcomes. He shares the results of the clinical trial supporting the Biosense meter, including the finding that measurements must be collected multiple times daily to truly evaluate the benefit of a ketogenic or intermittent fasting plan. Years ago, my own gut problems motivated me to seek answers outside the existing medical establishment, and with the help of my wife Julie I was able to get my diet and health back on track. Having now worked with thousands of athletes on their own health challenges and performance goals, it’s clear there are specific pitfalls that can accompany a high-level training regimen. On this podcast, NBT Scientific Director and coach Megan Hall is with me to discuss the latest science and clinical practice on the athlete’s gut. Meet Cecilia Müller Torbrand, Program Director, LLM, MACN Secretariat in Copenhagen. She started the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network, MACN in 2011 and have now managed to attract more than 30 pct of the world tonnage.  According to the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network's anonymous reporting mechanism, which was set up in 2011, there have been over 28,000 incidents already reported, confirming that this is a widespread issue. Read more about that in the Maritime Executive  Cecilia claims the initiative has been very well greeted by the seafarers as they feel supported when declining bribes and corruption. It helps them feel encouraged and safe, says Cecilia, every company has a hero like that, find that person and support them and you will be better off in the future. Cecilia is referring to Transparency International which is based in Berlin, whose mission is to stop corruption and promote transparency, accountability and integrity at all levels and across all sectors of society. Thank you for listening. What do you do for the greater good of the maritime industry? Drop me a line and tell me at hello@shippingpodcast.com and inspire me! @lenagothberg
