With Tad Hargrave, a trailblazer in conscious business marketing, entrepreneurs find a new way to promote their work without losing themselves in the process. Tad's journey started in his teens when he got caught up in a mix of sales and marketing techniques—some felt genuine, others felt like they crossed a line. After years in the field, he stepped back, questioning what he'd been taught and rethinking how marketing could actually feel good. What he found was a way to market that's both effective and rooted in respect, where integrity and connection take center stage.By 2006, Tad had become one of the first full-time coaches focused on helping values-driven entrepreneurs grow their businesses without compromising who they are. Since 2001, he's traveled across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and online, sharing his unorthodox approach with conscious entrepreneurs, often on a “pay what you can” basis. Now based in Duncan, BC, Tad honors his Scottish and Ukrainian roots, along with his hometown of Edmonton, Alberta (Amiskwaciwaskihegan), by dedicating himself to building a more respectful, human-centered culture. Through his workshops, and in the sixteen books he's written, Tad continues to help business owners find success that aligns with their values.Join us in our conversation as Tad shares insights into resourcefulness in entrepreneurship, highlighting the power of identifying and celebrating unique talents—especially within the Indigenous community. He also discusses ethics in marketing, emphasizing respect, simplicity, and authenticity, along with practical techniques to create a more relaxed, pressure-free atmosphere in sales. Tune in to explore how marketing can be not only effective but also deeply meaningful and aligned with values. To listen to the podcast and access the show notes and any other resources mentioned in this episode, visit us at www.legalwebsitewarrior.com/podcast.

We're the best, we're number one, we're better than them, we've won more awards than our competitors, we've all seen those ads. While this form of advertising isn't unique, when's the last time it caused you to buy a product based on the ad. I think we all know that answer. There was a time when we relied heavily on print advertising to determine what products were available and from whom. The two primary methods to gain product awareness were print advertising and trade shows. While advertising and trade shows still exist, they are no longer the primary method of product awareness.31 years ago, beginning on April 30, 1993, all of that began to change. What happened on April 30, 1993? Public access to the Internet was born.Over the past 31 years, Internet technology propelled us into an age of self discovery. The older generation accuses the younger generation of always having their face in a screen. While that may be true, it's not always TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, or Snapchat. People today, particularly younger people, research products, technologies, and a host of other things online. Consumers today are far more educated on the products they wish to purchase them at any time in history. In what I find to be an exceptional irony, much of the industry responsible for building the technology behind Internet connectivity continues to advertise their products in a pre-Internet style. You may ask, what does this have to do with reliability? Building reliable products requires a net sum of a vast amount of best practices. One of those practices is insuring the right products, procedures, specifications, designs, and so many other factors are implemented. This goal cannot be accomplished by just reading advertisements from sellers. Frequently, engineers struggle to solve problems without a complete knowledge of the root cause of the problem. Particularly today, with so many in-house subject matter experts retiring, advertisements boasting the number of customers, time and business, and where they place in the hierarchy of competitive products do not assist the engineer and understanding the root cause of a potential problem, and certainly not the solution.Over the past several years, several companies in our industry have begun to change their advertising strategies from transactional, to transformational. That is to say they help to connect problems to solutions, more than merely hyping products. My guest today fully understands the value and effectiveness of what I like to call “Conscious Marketing “. Rick Short is Corporate Associate Vice President for Indium Corporation. Rick has been with the company since 1984 in capacities including Technical Service Manager, Marketing Director, International Sales Director, head of Technical Support, and head of Environmental, Health & Safety, in addition to his current role. He has an MBA from Ren-Se-Lere Polytechnic Institute, a bachelor's degree in business management from Utica College, and an associate degree from Mohawk Valley Community College.I talk with Rick about his company's unique approach to education and how that has helped to transform their customer base.

Welcome to our 100th episode! We are so excited to have reached this milestone with you – helping you reframe your understanding of marketing and making it a fun, spiritual practice that brings fulfillment. To celebrate, we'll share our actionable advice that you can do right now as conscious marketers that will help set you up for success and a higher level of self-actualization. These are proven and tested based on our decades of experience. Tune in to this new episode of The Conscious Marketer podcast — The Ultimate Conscious Marketing Advice You Need To Hear with Richard Taubinger and Kylie Slavik. Key points covered in this episode: 00:01:57 Online marketing is being yourself. Creating content, writing posts, doing Facebook Lives – these methods are about being yourself and showing your true intentions. Quit wearing a mask, and just be who you are! 00:03:43 If you don't have enough criticism, you're not serving enough people. It's innately human to want to avoid this kind of attention. But negative feedback is a sign that what you're doing is reaching more – which is a huge marketing goal. 00:06:39 What are the two most important starting points in marketing? Your intention and how you can overdeliver. When you get these two down, your revenue will follow. It's always crucial to put your client first. 00:10:03 Change your story. How do you want to serve people? What's your biggest vision? Who can you help today? Write that down and remember it. As your business evolves, your target audience can change too. 00:15:07 Be the solution your clients are missing out on. Most likely they have taken other routes and failed. Stick to the basics and what works. Don't build your house on quicksand and speak deeply to their pain points. 00:21:16 Don't be discouraged. Be polarizing. Don't worry about petty complaints. When you're hungry to serve, focus on getting your message out there. ———————————————————————————————— The Conscious Marketing Movement is all about building a community of conscious leaders, creators, and entrepreneurs.  CONNECT WITH US Join Richard and Kyle in their Facebook group so you can learn how to use conscious marketing in your business. The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 335: Black Lives Matter is Yoga with Danielle Tridenti   Description: Black Lives Matter (BLM) was formed ten years ago, and while many people jumped on the bandwagon and pledged their support for the cause a few years ago in light of the murder of George Floyd, it seems like BLM is getting “less popular”. It is important to continue this conversation about BLM and explore how it relates to yoga. Danielle Tridenti shares their experience in showing up as an ally for the cause.   Danielle is a facilitator of yoga, an embodiment coach, and an equity + inclusion group facilitator/consultant, who believes that cellular and personal change informs and affects institutional, collective, and cultural change. They have over 5000 hours of training in yoga, somatics, trauma informed care, anti-racism, equity + inclusion, as well as 20 years of experience in teaching and group facilitation, and 10 years as a mental health clinician and social worker. Currently, Danielle offers individual and group experiences, education/training, coaching, and consulting centered around embodying equity, LGTBQIA2S+ affirmation and inclusion, and solidarity with a trauma informed, intersectional, anti-racist, anti-patriarchal, and anti-oppression framework to individuals and organizations.   Recently, a student in Danielle's class asked Danielle to remove their BLM shirt. Danielle shares more about how they handled that situation with the student and the studio they were teaching at, as well as their thoughts on why yoga is political. Danielle also explains why BLM and showing up as an ally is part of yoga. And discusses privilege, creating “safe spaces” in yoga, and how ahimsa (non-violence) ties into all of this.   Key Takeaways: [2:39] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Danielle Tridenti. [8:12] What does Danielle do and who do they do it for? [11:17] Recently, a yoga student attending Danielle's class asked them to remove their Black Lives Matter t-shirt. Danielle recounts the experience. [16:21] How did Danielle follow up after the incident? What kind of reaction did the studio she was teaching at have after this incident? [19:57] Why is Black Lives Matter yoga? [26:47] What is Danielle's reaction to people who complain about how these discussions always feel "in your face" or that we are still having these conversations. [34:34] Shannon pops in with a shout out of thanks to sponsor, OfferingTree [37:01] What are some of the actions that people can take to support Black Lives Matter and create a world that is equal and just? [43:01] What are some other resources yoga teachers can use to get educated and learn more about this topic? [48:39] Learn more from Danielle by connecting with them on Instagram. The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 284: Beyond Pronouns and Pride Month with Shannon Crow   Description: How can we make our yoga classes more inclusive and accessible? The truth is, sometimes we can mess up and make mistakes even when we try to create safer spaces in our yoga classes. We may cause harm without realizing it - that's why it is a huge gift when someone points out how we are causing harm.   The work of continuous learning goes beyond simply using the right pronouns and extends far beyond Pride month. These are complex and nuanced issues - we have to strive to continuously educate ourselves. In this episode, Shannon Crow shares the email from a listener that inspired this conversation as well as resources for you if you are keen to continue learning how to create safer, more accessible yoga spaces for people in the LGBTQIA+ community.   Key Takeaways: [3:24] Shannon shares a book she has been enjoying and learning from recently. [6:56] This episode was inspired by a brave email sent by a podcast listener in response to Episode 275 about being kicked out of yoga class. [9:00] Shannon shares the email from the listener. [10:44] Even when we want to create safe spaces, we may not succeed. We may also cause harm to others and it is a huge gift when they communicate that with us. If you want to thrive in your coaching business, it's time to change your perception about marketing. Let's bust some myths about marketing and look at it from a different point of view. Find the show notes for this episode at prosperouscoach.com/188.First, I wanted to share a win with you because YOU helped to make it possible and I'm grateful ... Prosperous Coach Podcast recently hit 150,000 downloads. That's momentous. My latest 5 start review said: “A well appreciated podcast! Rhonda tackles issues that any coach could face and provides useful tips on how to deal with them in a profitable way.”  Sweet!I wanted to share that news with you because I market through my podcast. That's called generosity marketing, which is about giving away value to attract ideal clients. It's one of the non-salesy approaches. So … when you think of marketing, do you cringe? Are you thinking:·      Marketing is going to feel sleazy no matter how I do it.·      I have to become good at selling myself.·      I don't know how to market effectively!Only that last is true. You don't know how to market effectively … YET. And there's a natural fear of the unknown.I cringed about marketing too until I learned a more conscious and transparent way of attracting clients. Up until then I thought of marketing as this necessary evil. That's a reaction to high-pressure marketing tactics, which are old fashioned and a low integrity approach that ruins marketing for everyone. So, toss out that approach completely. You do NOT have to barrage people with marketing that tries to fool or shame people into buying what you're selling. And forget the idea that you have to sell yourself too. You don't have to sell your soul to market effectively. But here's the truth … if you want to earn well as a coach and stay in business you do have to find a way to attract your ideal clients. The reality is, unless you already have a network of people who know, like and trust you and would love to work with you, you will need to create a community of potential clients and build relationships with those people. Otherwise, you'll be another coach who is a best kept secret. And there are lots of coaches who are.Becoming known by your audience is half way to becoming a coach in high demand. Being known doesn't mean you have to talk about yourself all the time and toot your own horn. There's a better way.I started building my community from scratch. That's not a heartbreaking task. It's a heart-warming task if you do it in a conscious way.And you don't have to be known by tens of thousands of people either if you target a narrow and unique audience and craft a niche that's meaningful to them. There are a multitude of reasons why choosing a viable target audience and choosing a smart niche is the first strategy to help you stand out and attract your ideal clients. The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 266: Social Location, Power & Privilege with Raudhah Rahman   Description: What is social location and what does it have to do with teaching yoga? Many of us don't often think about our identities, how they intersect, and how they afford us privilege and shape our life experiences. In this episode, we learn more from Raudhah Rahman (she/her) about social location and how it is relevant to yoga teachers.   Raudhah Rahman describes herself as connecting people with their voices whether that's through web design, teacher training or a yoga class. As a yoga teacher, Raudhah practices disruption as a way of creating conditionas of wellness for all of us. She is a self-taught website designer whose business, Wellness + Websites, was born after she lost her job as a yoga studio assistant because of the pandemic. Her main focus is providing websites & branding services to folks who want to embrace all of their identities and share their value driven work with others.   Raudhah explains what social location is, and where we use this as yoga teachers. She also shares more about the importance of recognizing and questioning our privilege and the responsibility we have when we hold privilege. From a yoga philosophy lens, Raudhah sheds light on how the 8 limbs of yoga intersect with social location, how we can deal with mistakes when we make them, and continue to learn and grow.   Key Takeaways: [3:46] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Raudhah Rahman. [34:59] Citizenship is another element of the social location wheel that can play into a person's experience of the world. [37:50] Shannon and Raudhah explore this idea of fighting for privilege vs. fighting for freedom. [40:56] How can yoga teachers share these ideas or start to look at incorporating this into their messaging? It's not as simple as tacking on something to your website. [46:16] Some of this work can feel shocking as we learn about things we didn't know but it is important to do. What are some tips that can help make this practice easier? The Connected Yoga Teacher Podcast 265: Teach LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Yoga with Gabi Parkham    Description: We all want our yoga classes to be welcoming places for everybody, but sometimes, we unintentionally make some people feel excluded or unwelcome. One of those groups of people is the LGBTQIA+ community. Gabi Parkham shares how we can teach LGBTQIA+ inclusive yoga and create safer yoga spaces.   Gabi was born in Brighton (UK) and started practicing yoga during early childhood. She is passionate about finding equity and justice through yoga, consent in all aspects, and sharing yoga free from assumptions. Alongside teaching yoga, Gabi is an LGBTQIA+ equity educator and consultant helping yoga teachers and studios to make their classes more welcoming for the LGBTQIA+ community. Gabi runs regular online workshops about LGBTQIA+ "inclusion" and a 6 month online course for LGBTQIA+ yoga teachers to come together in community, learn from one another, and support each other. Gabi also co-founded Laviot, a social and supportive community LGBT+ Jewish non-binary people and women.   In this interview, Gabi explains what LGBTQIA+ means, the importance of sharing pronouns, and why creating spaces for this community is important. Gabi shares more about why it's so important to get educated, then teach like there is a trans or non-binary person in your class all the time, and how to include that in marketing your classes. This is all part of a lifelong learning journey, and the work is always ongoing. Learn more about how to start creating safer, braver, and more inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ folks in your yoga class in this episode.   Key Takeaways: [3:15] Shannon introduces her guest for this episode - Gabi Parkham.
