In this edition of The Way Out cohost extraordinaire Jason had the pleasure of interviewing person in long term recovery, Deryl Glaze. Deryl is an Inspirational Addiction and Recovery Expert and Speaker, Motivational Coach, and Ordained Minister. Over the last twenty years interacting with recovering addicts and substance abusers in a variety of capacities, Deryl observed that the ones who didn't have any dreams, any "Big Whys" beyond abstinence, were far more likely to relapse or have a recurrence of their substance use disorder, than those who did. As a result Deryl developed a workshop to help those who are in Recovery find purpose or their “Big Why's”. Now Deryl speaks, runs workshops, and is the Head Certified Recovery Coach at Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge. No matter what hat he's wearing, his message is that many folks find they need a goal bigger than merely abstinence to motivate themselves achieve meaningful and enduring recovery. You don't want to miss the tremendous message Deryl has for you, so listen up. Mark 15:16-32 The Soldiers Mock Jesus 16 The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers. 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. 18 And they began to call out to him, “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. 20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. 21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get. 25 It was nine in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The written notice of the charge against him read: the king of the jews. 27 They crucified two rebels with him, one on his right and one on his left. [28] [a] 29 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 come down from the cross and save yourself!” 31 In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can't save himself! 32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. On this episode, Michelle and her good friend Jessica discuss the unique case of Deryl Madison and his murderous alter. Madison was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) by Dr. Wendall Dickerson after clearly being unable to recall many of his actions related to a homicide and revealing a murderous alter named Bubba. While this seems awfully convenient for a killer to forget his crimes, many of Madison's statements point to his eventual diagnosis, including a quote from his most recent TV appearance, “I feel there was someone else inside of me, besides me." Tune in this week to learn Michelle's personal take on this case, the tragic causes of DID, how to spot DID in children, and resources for parents with children affected by this disorder. In this episode, Michelle reiterates that there are harmful stereotypes that people who suffer from mental illness are frequently violent criminals, and this is completely untrue. The vast majority of people with mental illness are not violent criminals, and the relationship between mental illness and violent crime is elusive. Born and raised in the rural Northeast Texas town of Poetry (Population 2,069), Ryder Grimes was raised up doing things the country way. On stage, since he was 11 years old, Ryder grew up with burning love and passion for country music. Whether it was his mom playing it in the kitchen or his dad playing it on stage, Ryder fell in love with it from the start. After years of learning from his inspirations, Ryder began to sing, play and write songs of his own, just like his hero's. Now as an adult, Ryder is doing everything he grew up dreaming about. Throughout the last year, he has spent numerous hours in the studio with Texas Country Legend, personal inspiration and good friend Deryl Dodd. Deryl produced the project along side fellow producer Bart Rose, owner of Fort Worth Sound Recording Studios. The EP, set to be released in late November with the first single coming in Mid-October, is said to be a hot one with a full run of show dates and radio tours coming along with it.Backed by his band, Ryder Grimes is traveling to new towns every weekend playing big shows for a number of people and sharing the stage with national acts such as Max Stalling, Deryl Dodd, Jake Worthington, Logan Samford and Giovannie and the Hired Guns just to name a few.https://www.instagram.com/rydergrimesmusic/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNCgj9dJ0lZHTkZlsH1b0_Q/featured https://www.facebook.com/RGTXMUSIC/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/4k0FXuf0KgosOy31A9b2MS

Happy Father's Day. We hope many father's (and even mother's) listen and take this episode to heart. It's a good one! This episode is very special. Not only do we interview an amazing therapist with a special interest in father/son relationships, we hear from many young adults on their father's role in their young adult life.Today, we welcome Dr. Deryl Goldenberg. We learned about him when we saw an article he wrote called: “The Psychology Behind Strained Father and Son Relationships.” With many years of working with men in therapy, the issues that come up with careers or relationships can often be traced back to their lack of a relationship with their fathers. Goldenberg is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years in private practice. He is also the Executive Director of the Verdugo Hills Autism Project, a non-public agency providing intervention services to children with emotional and developmental disorders. Today, in honor of Father's Day we want to talk about the father's role in the life of the emerging adult child. We tend to focus so much on mothers, and the father is behind the curtain or many times silent. We talk about so many things and his thoughtful answers can apply to nearly any relationship in our lives. To become a surgeon, carpenter or teacher takes time, practice and work, he says - but so do relationships. For a strong relationship to develop a father has to be interested in really knowing their child - whatever their life choices. This reminded us a bit about our conversation with Rosjke Hasseldine, when she spoke about "understanding" one another. You do not have to agree, but work to understand. If you missed it, here is a link to that episode. We talk about anger, finance and generosity, relationships and so much more. This is a thoughtful and helpful interview. Before taking on a pastoral role, Deryl Hurst had started his own company and worked in the real estate business for many years, allowing him to gain valuable leadership skills. In today's episode, listen as Deryl recalls how he received a calling to ministry through a prophetic word as a young child and how God led him in what he now realizes was a preparatory journey in leadership. Today, Deryl Hurst serves as the lead pastor at Westgate Church in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, alongside his wife, Mim. Deryl has been a part of the Westgate Church family for over 30 years and has served as a small group leader, elder, and executive pastor. Highlights: Take ownership - This deals with making decisions and taking responsibility. A natural reaction is to justify yourself and explain, but taking ownership also means bearing the burden of leadership. Seek first to understand - When approaching confrontation, seek first to understand before seeking to be understood. Business leaders have access, influence, and relational opportunities to aid in sharing their faith in the marketplace. Spend more time in prayer - Instead of relying on your own intuition and intelligence, look to run your business differently and see the Holy Spirit for guidance and direction. Serve the person you are under and be dedicated to their success - A rising tide raises all ships. Find the truth in unjust criticism - Look for the 5% of truth in the unjust criticism you are receiving, don’t try to justify yourself, and let the rest go. Strive towards excellence rather than perfection. Work on becoming an effective communicator. Utilize personality assessments to understand the strengths and distinctiveness of your team. Engage in the process God is taking you through - Keep the vision/dream in front of you and reference it often, but realize it doesn’t have to happen tomorrow. Continue to train and learn. Today, January 15th, 2021, we would like to present to you our special guest – Deryl Glaze. Our today’s guest is a motivation coach, inspirational speaker and addiction recovery expert. For nearly 20 years, Deryl Glaze has been helping people to become the better versions of themselves, “to become your more Successful You” how Deryl speaks himself. For 15 years of recovery coaching, he has been inspiring men and women of all ages to overcome substance abuse issues and go on to live a healthy, drug-free and productive life by striving for a purpose bigger than "recovery" alone because he noticed people who don't have a dream bigger than their recovery often relapse. He says, “you need a “Big Why” to sustain your recovery!” and engages you to find it. In this Live Conversation with Deryl, we will ask him about his vision of the Creative Society. We will discuss why it is so important to help people overcome their weaknesses, their addictions. How does it help them to become better, to become happier? What does real happiness mean and how can a person achieve it? Moreover, we are going to speak about the fundamental values in the Creative Society? What should they be? What should prevail and how can it be implemented? The project Creative Society is implemented by volunteers of ALLATRA International Public Movement in order to find out how each person in the world envisions the future of our Society. THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast
This episode is the final installment of our 4-part series with Double D. If you haven’t listened to the first 3 episodes, I highly suggest checking them out first! Enjoy! It’s hard to know where to start and where to stop with telling the story of today’s guest Deryl Dodd. When Carly and I record these interviews, they are usually in the neighborhood of 45 minutes to an hour long. Our conversation with Deryl was so good, so in depth and so captivating that we just went with it and kept the tape rolling. The result is a 4-episode audio journey recounting one of the most compelling and moving life stories of a country singer-songwriter, artist and sideman that I think you will ever hear. So let’s just say it’s Deryl Dodd month at The Troubadour and we couldn’t be more honored to bring his story to our listeners. Deryl’s life as a country artist has been a rollercoaster; one of some incredible highs and one of some incredible challenges resulting in some painful lows. One of nearly inconceivable lucky moments backed by hard work and talent taking him to the summit of the mountain, and one of incredibly distressing and potentially devastating events, some life-threatening, that remind us all how unfair life can be at times, no matter who you are. In these next few episodes you are going to hear some very familiar names that impacted Deryl’s life and career including the likes of Dean Dillon, Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Tracy Lawrence and more. So rather than me pealing back the onion anymore, I’m going to let Deryl speak for himself. Be prepared to be moved, to laugh and to choke up with tears welling up in your own eyes, just like mine did. Alex and Dan interview someone they greatly admire, their good friend Derek Perlman. He is a photographer, motorcycle enthusiast and a modern day renaissance man. The podcast begins before the interview was officially underway. The boys eventually circle back and add context to one of their favorite stories from their month of NTP absence. Shortly thereafter, Derek gets Alex and Dan up to speed on his latest photoshoot with the band H09909, they cover techniques and tactics on wiping your bum bum after big potty and they try to understand what we can benefit from the legacy of Charles Manson. The interview moves outside and we learn more about the origins of the name FUCKTARD, how Deryl got into photography and his days with Unif. You can find out more about Derek on Insta @666fucktard666 or the website that started it all: http://wefucktards.tumblr.com/
These are the stories that I love to tell. Meet Deryl & Meredith Sweeney, a couple, along with 3 other families, who are working to cure Cystic Fibrosis. CF, as it's referred to, affects tens of thousands of people and reduces the ability to breathe over time. Their son was diagnosed shortly after birth. Instead of accepting things as they were, they set out to become agents of change and do something about it. This is a bit about their story. Check out their major fundraising event, CRAFT Louisville at CraftLouisville.com and get your tickets for this wonderful event, held on October 7th.
It was our absolute pleasure to host Deryl Skelton's panel at O Comic Con 2017! Deryl Skelton has spent over four decades illustrating everything from the cast of "Dallas" to the crew of the USS Enterprise from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" to characters from Marvel and DC comics!! Hosting Deryl's panel was an abolute blast as he shared his stories of working on murals for Donald Trump, creating animations for music videos, and gave us a glimpse of what it's like to be an artist willing to take on all sorts of exciting challenges and opportunities!! Please enjoy!
Is Deryl Dodd the coolest guy in country music? After sitting down with him backstage at the Larry Joe Taylor Country Music Festival, my vote is YES! We had a fun and perspective-filled conversation about life, goals and his brand new album, "Long Hard Ride." (All in the comfy confines of a random Airstream.) #liveonpurpose

Way back before there was the Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group there was a time Yahoo was doing some really cool things with groups. From 1999 - 2006 the largest place for Scouters to meet up online and swap stories and patches was the Scouting Collectors Society. With a brilliant strategy to use club patches as incentives Deryl Radder grew his Yahoo group into a prolific trade-o-ree on the net. Just when everyone was worried that the lights were going to go out on Dec. 31, 1999 he hosted an incredible Y2K TOR that went on for a couple of days straight. The SCS also spun off the Lodge Members Society for OA collectors and included state rooms and groups for other topical trading and collecting areas. As Deryl has noted online it took just about a year for the new Facebook group to eclipse his peak numbers and he sees the potential for a 10,000+ member Scout Patch Collectors Facebook Group. Listen in to hear Deryl share the story of the Scouting Collectors Society including the details of his incentive plan that involved producing perhaps 100+ unique club patches. When he suddenly pulled the plug on the Yahoo Groups in 2006 not everyone was happy but he will share his reasons in this interview. Find more Scouting memorabilia content and all of my podcasts at http://www.scoutpatchcollectors.com.
