Steven G. Mautner, D.D.S. established his practice in Margate, Florida in August of 1991. Prior to this, he practiced for three years in New York City with his father, Irwin Mautner, DDS. He attended undergraduate school at New York University (graduating with a B.A. in 1983) and dental school at New York University (graduating in 1987). If you are a dentist though, you probably know him as the wisecracking and self-deprecating Mautey. Today he shares some of his unique wisdom about the Business of Dentistry!

As a young girl I wrote a novel and a collection of poetry in German and short stories in Italian. My family fled our home in Chemnitz, East Germany, at the onset of the Nazi regime. We moved to Italy and then sought refuge in Holland. In 1942, disobeying a German command to leave for a concentration camp, we fled through the maze of Nazi-occupied Belgium and France, finally reaching safety in Switzerland. We arrived in the United States in 1946.I have been writing, in English and in earnest, ever since. My first novel, OUT OF A SEASON, was published in 1968 by Thomas Y. Crowell Co. in New York. It was followed by LOVERS & FUGITIVES, published by Mercury House, San Francisco, in 1986. Both novels were favorably reviewed by The NEW YORK TIMES, THE CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER, THE DENVER POST, THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE, and many other publications. We had a chance to sit down with Steven Mautner, DDS (http://sgmdds.com) on our latest episode. Steven G. Mautner, D.D.S. established his practice in Margate, Florida in August of 1991. Prior to this, he practiced for three years in New York City with his father, Irwin Mautner, DDS. He attended undergraduate school at New York University (graduating with a B.A. in 1983) and dental school at New York University (graduating in 1987). Dr. Mautner practices all phases of general dentistry with an emphasis on restorative dentistry including the placement and restoration of dental implants. He is aided in this by Thomas Spiegel, D.D.S. a periodontist who has been practicing with him since 1996. Dr. Mautner's practice philosophy is to provide high quality dentistry at the most affordable fees. To achieve this, he participates in all insurance plans, including Medicare Advantage Plans, PPO's, HMO's ,discount plans and a number of retiree insurance plans, most notably those from various New York City unions. For those without any insurance, he offers his own in-house dental plan which offers fees that are 40 to 50 percent of those typically charged by most dentists.
