Laura is an Emory University School of Law graduate who is the Founder and CEO of How to Contract. In this episode, I sit down with Laura—a legal powerhouse whose career journey is a masterclass in resilience, reinvention, and finding freedom in doing what you love.We kick things off with Laura's law school experience, a place she admittedly didn't love, yet she emerged stronger and more determined than ever. She shares the struggles of breaking into the legal world post-graduation, eventually landing a role that would ignite her passion for contracts—a niche she'd later describe as crafting strategic stories with the ever-present risk of being wrong.Laura's career took her through diverse roles, but it was her time at Tesla that truly stood out. She reflects on the unique, flat organizational structure and the sense of responsibility that every individual carried— one of her favorite work experiences, which she remembers fondly. But the real turning point came when Laura decided to go solo, launching her practice. The early days were challenging, but Laura found her stride on LinkedIn, posting daily for over 1,000 days and building a community of over 40,000 followers. Her consistency paid off, proving the power of showing up every single day.Two years into running her firm, Laura would found How to Contract, a venture that allowed her to focus exclusively on her passion—contracts—giving her the career freedom she had always sought.Laura's story is a treasure trove of insights on mindset, career growth, and the art of navigating the legal landscape on your terms. This Full Moon join Laura Edralin and I as we delve into the converging worlds of creativity, connection and mental health.Laura is a calligraphy artist, happiness facilitator and qualified wellbeing coach, based in West London with her husband and two young children. She started her business, Laura Letters Life, after the practice of calligraphy was an integral part of her recovery and reconnection after experiencing high levels of anxiety. In our conversation we discuss the fear and perceived obstacles of leaving the safety of a predictable career to pursue a more creative life, a life that seems to be calling us. We explore Laura's letting go of expectations around how that creative business would ‘look' and instead listening to the whispers of what feels good and inspiring… for her that was to facilitate creative spaces where she was able to share this joy.We touch on the creativity that is present in everyday lives; the creativity that it takes to build a life, and how having a creative practice can help to recognise that more deeply. We celebrate the juiciness of transition phases, even in their discomfort! We talk about family history and family life in the context of being a creative, and of raising children in a way that aims to encourage their autonomy and for them to see parents and caregivers are infallible humans rather than perfect creatures. And, almost inevitably, we come back time and time again to creativity as a guide and a metaphor for the experience of human life, and as a tool to find ourselves in amongst the hubbub.Watch the intro video about Laura here: https://youtu.be/kX5LdQ5pFwoLaura's website: https://www.lauraletterslife.comLaura's instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lauraletterslifePlease do get in touch with either of us with questions or comments, we'd love to hear from you.I'd love to hear from you at sophie@thefireflycreatrix.com with any thoughts, feedback or requests for content discussion!Find me on Instagram@sophiemaliphant@thefireflycreatrixVisit my website thefireflycreatrix.com Hosted on Acast. In this week's episode of Spinsterhood Reimagined, I talk to food writer, author and podcaster, Laura Price. Laura Price is a multilingual journalist and host of the podcast 'Life in Food with Laura Price'. After growing up in Yorkshire, Laura lived in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Ireland before finally settling in London with her fiancé, three stepdaughters, two cats and one step-dog. At twenty-nine, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and at thirty-nine, she found out it had spread; she now lives with stage four, incurable cancer. Single Bald Female is her first novel, and was inspired by her experiences of dating after breast cancer. In this conversation, Laura and I discuss the very honest dating profile she used following her breast cancer diagnosis, including photos of her with a bald head following chemo; what it was like to go through cancer as a young, single woman following her 2012 diagnosis; and how having a secondary diagnosis impacts the way that she lives her life now. We also talk about Laura's experiences of solo travel all around the world, including Columbia and Australia; how breast cancer removed any chance of her having a baby, but how she has made peace with it; and how her novel, Single Bald Female, will be her legacy.      Laura also tells me about how she was always very happy as a single person and has always loved spending time alone; how she has always the kind of girl who would rather be single than be in the wrong relationship; and how one of the problems with online dating is that there is too much choice, and yet ironically it's impossible to find someone! Follow Laura on Instagram: @laurapricewritesFollow Laura on Twitter: @LauraPriceWriteLaura's Website: https://www.laura-price.comLaura's newsletter, Doughnuts for Breakfast with Laura Price: https://lauraprice.substack.com/ UK Link to Laura's book, Single Bald Female: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Single-Bald-Female-Laura-Price/dp/152907424X/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1664652967&sr=8-1 US Link to Laura's book, Single Bald Female: https://www.amazon.com/Single-Bald-Female-Laura-Price/dp/152907424X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=JRQ70X82J36V&keywords=single+bald+female+laura+price&qid=1664653039&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIwLjQ1IiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=single+bald+female+laura+price%2Caps%2C414&sr=8-1  Apple Podcasts link to Laura's podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/life-in-food-with-laura-price/id1614254296Spotify Link to Laura's podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/4bYjs0V1CpOEGodov38fxW  Join my private Facebook Group: Join my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1870817913309222/?ref=share  Follow me on Instagram: @spinsterhoodreimaginedFollow me on Twitter: @LucyMeggesonEmail me: lucy@lucymeggeson.com  Check out my website: www.lucymeggeson.com

#131  What comes to mind when you hear the word intuition?  Perhaps unconventional, instinct, gut feel, hunch or something more spiritual or mystical?  But as you'll soon learn from today's guest, we use our intuition to make decisions on a daily basis without realizing it. Using our intuition simply means having a knowing or understanding of a situation without using conscious reasoning and making a decision regardless of the related analysis or facts.  It's when we override the data based on our inner knowing. Our guest today is Laura Haehl, who helps her clients access and trust their intuition by learning to make intuitive decisions.  Laura has studied and been certified in a number of spiritual disciplines, including yoga, breathwork and meditation, to name a few.  She's also leading a group in the fall of 2022 as they walk a portion of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Here's what we cover:What intuition is and why it's important to develop it;A practical approach to learn how to make intuitive decisions; What the Camino de Santiago is; andHow making a pilgrimage can enhance your intuition. We end this episode with our Dose of Inspiration segment, where Laura shares some of the things that are lighting her up these days.Laura's website:  www.laurahaehl.comLaura's Instagram:  www.instagram.com/laura.haehl Treatment:  NAET Nambudripad Allergy Elimination TechniquesBook:  The Biology of BeliefBook:  Nonviolent CommunicationTo subscribe to the bimonthly Athena Wellness Newsletter, click here.If you'd like to join our circle and never miss a weekly episode, please hit subscribe.  While you're there, you can rate the podcast by highlighting the stars that match your experience.  Much appreciated! For episode materials, show notes or to submit a question for a future episode, visit: https://athenawellness.com/podcast

Laura leads the residential arm of Lakewood Ranch, the nation's top-selling multigenerational community in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. She oversees a 16,000-lot residential portfolio under active development by 20 builders with 2,000+ annual home sales. Laura also directs marketing efforts for LWR Commercial and the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. Before Lakewood Ranch, she was vice president of marketing for Willowsford, a 4,000-acre “agri-hood” community in Northern Virginia. From 2002 to 2007 Laura served as vice president of corporate development for RCLCO in Washington, DC, and before that, held positions with the Urban Land Institute, Greater Houston Partnership, and IBM/CB Commercial. In today's episode, Laura Cole, Senior Vice President Lakewood Ranch Communities, LLC, shares her journey into real estate and the top 3 trends she's seeing as a result of the pandemic.Memorable moments:11:07: I love the idea of “I haven't been here before”. But let's draw from what we know, or try to find some analogues that that even come close to this.12:32 I like thinking long term and you have too in these communities because we won't have homes on the ground for potentially five years. So you better be betting on the right market segment for when that's going to arrive in five years. We are being really tactical and I like the challenge of that.13:46: The biggest thing right now that we're confronting is the growing caution by the consumer tied specifically to pricing.15:09: People are looking not only to come to Florida because of the tax advantages and the quality of life, but there's a perception that living in a masterplan community creates an additional layer of security.15:36 The nuclear family is moving with their extended family. We're seeing these multi-generational moves. One family moving here becomes three or four. They've determined that this is the place where they want to put roots down and it's really rewarding to know that this is a place they want to call home.28:19 The development industry is particularly well suited for women because everything we do is multidisciplinary. We're good at multitasking and being able to bring in a lot of different facets into account in our decision making.29:36: I always feel like in our industry that being yourself pays huge dividends…Be yourself and add value.Connect with Nancy:Instagram: https://instagram.com/nancysurakLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nancysurak/Website: www.nancysurak.comConnect with Laura:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-cole-8158526/Website: https://lakewoodranch.comLaura's Book Recommendation:A Land Remembered https://amzn.to/3OAbMyu via @amazonShe's WILD Sound Production by:Luke Surak, Surak Productions: surakproductions@gmail.com

She is now the Founder of Adaptive Performance, and in 2017 provided Performance Management support to Mark Beaumont as he circumnavigated the World in less than 80 Days by bike. She is now co-hosting a podcast with Mark and they have written a book together, both called Endurance, giving an insight into the teams behind successful athletes and giving everyday sportspeople the chance to learn to access the support that they may not otherwise know about. In this chat we cover why she chose to take on one of the world's toughest ocean challenges, how useful it is to understand your own body literacy and how self-awareness is key to good teamwork and leadership. And what she learned from nine months at sea in a 8m boat.We touch briefly on the huge and exciting topic of the sports science specifically in women's bodies, training and sport. How to manage good mental and physical wellbeing, spotting the signs of stress, overwhelm and breakdowns, hopefully before you hit rock bottom, but crucially after you have been there to stop it happening again. Then we discuss how she managed herself and her own wellbeing while supporting Mark Beaumont on his astonishing achievement of cycling round the world in less than 80 days. It's a varied conversation and I feel like we only brushed the surface of so many exciting topics. Since recording this podcast I was delighted to learn that Laura got engaged – massive congrats to her and her fiancé Matt. You can follow her on IG on @laurapenhaulThe website for her business Adaptive Performance is www.adaptive-performance.comLaura and Mark Beaumont's book is called “Endurance – How to Cycle Further” and is available at https://shop.globalcyclingnetwork.com/endurance-how-to-cycle-further-book Laura and Mark's podcast, also called Endurance, is released every Thursday anywhere you normally get your podcasts!

Organizations are paying the price in many ways — absenteeism, reduced production and quality levels, complaints, poor morale surveys, and recruiting costs. Leaders need to learn how to get their workforce engaged, get them to offer discretionary effort, and in the process bring extra value to the organization. Prisc’s clients have included large organizations such as Toyota, Dow Chemical, Constellium, SimEx, PrimeLending, Tree Top, and Northwestern Mutual.
