She advocates for a better relationship with food, so that others can build healthier habits that lead to lasting change. She is also the author of the new book How Not To Eat Ultra-Process, Your 4 week Plan For Life Changing Healthier Habits! Here are some of the things we talked about in today's podcast: Understanding the nuances of processed foods and the differences between processed and ultra-processed foods is essential for making informed dietary choices. Consuming highly processed foods can have disadvantages, such as impacting energy levels and nutrient intake, and it's crucial to prioritize whole foods and nutrient-dense options. Online nutrition information can contribute to health anxieties and misinformation, and it's important to critically evaluate sources and seek evidence-based guidance from qualified professionals. Navigating nutrition information online can be challenging due to conflicting advice and unregulated sources. Understanding head, heart, and stomach hunger can help in making mindful food choices. Fasting may have different implications for women, and individual context should be considered. The power of food for skin health lies in nourishment and what is added to the diet. Approaching nutrition from a perspective of addition and abundance is more beneficial than focusing on subtraction and scarcity. In this episode The idea around parental alienation is that one parent is doing things to alienate their child from the other parent. It could be saying bad things about the other parent, not allowing communication, restricting access, etc. Richard Gardner was the first one to coin this term. Here are a couple of facts about him: He had no research experience. It was based on nothing but clinical opinion. He was a part-time clinical professor as a psychoanalyst. And it was horrible. It was very misogynistic. He would always say 90% of the time, it was mothers alienating a father. Some examples of parental alienating; Telling false stories about the parent, telling negative stories, not communicating with the parent with the other parent, and not allowing access. Inflexible, Pretty restricting, acting like the other parent is dangerous, portraying them as difficult or scary to the child. These are all things that can do damage to a child's relationship with that parent. The cases most strongly presented to the court are when there's actual physical withholding of the children. Everyone asks at what point can the child decide they don't want to go in the visit, and it's not going to matter. There is no actual age that a child can determine if they want to go in for a visit. Do we talk about the effects on the children of this behavior by their parents? Do we talk about what tips would you give the other non-alienating parent? If you could manage to tell good stories, boost their image, be flexible, promote access, and promote that relationship, your child benefits from that relationship. If you damage that relationship, you are hurting your child. Parental alienation, when it's severe, is considered child abuse. Most of the time, both parents share some responsibility for this. Maybe one parent is doing a lot of the alienating behaviors, but the other parent might be doing some as well. Dr. Ludlam has her Master's degree in Early Childhood Risk and Prevention from Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Alliant International University in Clinical Psychology. Her research and clinical interests have centered around the topic of trauma and trauma-related disorders. We also spend some time talking about parental evaluations. She is primarily responsible for doing evaluations both for diagnostic purposes and for court cases. We talk through what often leads up to the court order for psychological evaluations. They can be very beneficial for the court and often therapeutic for the person being evaluated. There are a couple of types of evaluations. One is where every party, husband, wife, new boyfriend, new girlfriend, and kids are processed. Those are often long and can be expensive. They also do parental capacity evaluations. Although there is no test for what makes someone a good parent so they look at multiple things like personality traits, are there disorders, do collateral interviews with people who could observe the person parenting, look at health records, mental health records. They are multi-modal and multi-source. It's only after weighing all the elements that they can make recommendations. Cases are often not clear-cut in favor of single custody. The goal is two healthy parents and giving them the tools to get there. The first step is an interview. Your side of the story. Start to finish. Then we do psychological testing. Judges really depend on the expertise of the evaluators because they have no dog in the fight as a non-biased third-party source. There are some cases where children in a divorce case are interviewed. We talk about parental alienation. What is it? Why is it brought up so much in divorce cases? It's pretty complex. It's not just one thing. It involves things like communication, how they talk about the other parent, are they sharing information, are they restricting access. Many parents don't realize they are doing even doing it.You can find out more about Dr. Ludlam and her firm KKJ Forensic & Psychological Services on their website.

Playwright, actor, and director Charles Ludlam (1943-87) helped to galvanize the Ridiculous style of theater in New York City starting in the 1960s. Decades after his death, his place in the chronicle of the American theater has remained constant, but his influence has changed. Although his Ridiculous Theatrical Company shut its doors, the Ludlamesque Ridiculous has continued to thrive and remain a groundbreaking genre, maintaining its relevance and potency by metamorphosing along with changes in the LGBTQ community. Author Sean F. Edgecomb focuses on the Neo-Ridiculous artists Charles Busch, Bradford Louryk, and Taylor Mace to trace the connections between Ludlam’s legacy and their performances. Using alternative queer models such as kinetic kinship, lateral historiography, and a new approach to camp, Charles Ludlam Lives!: Charles Busch, Bradford Louryk, Taylor Mac and the Queer Legacy of the Ridiculous Theatrical Company (University of Michigan Press, 2017) demonstrates that the queer legacy of Ludlam is one of distinct transformation— one where artists can reject faithful interpretations in order to move in new interpretive directions. Originally from the North Shore in Massachusetts, Toney Brown is a theater director/performer in New York City. He studied Theater Arts at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In NYC, was a Performance Project Fellow at the University Settlement and adapted Harmony Korine’s A Crack Up at the Race Riots at Theater for a New City’s Dream Up Festival. In addition, he was worked extensively with the director Dennis Yueh-yeh Li adapting King Lear, assistant directed Maeterlinck’s The Blind, and performing in his production of Albert Camus’ Caligula (Chaerea) as part of the New Ohio Theater’s Producers Club Festival. When he is not podcasting on NBN, he hosts NYTF Radio, a podcast exploring the history of Yiddish Theatre for the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, available on all platforms. I'm very excited to bring you this week's guest — the fabulous actor and playwright Charles Busch, who first rose to prominence in the 1980s with the show Vampire Lesbians of Sodom and followed up with such hits as Die Mommy Die, Psycho Beach Party, and The Allergist's Wife, for which he earned a Tony nomination. For the first decade of his career, Charles was a struggling writer who traveled the country with exhausting one-man shows, but his big break came when he wrote a just-for-fun skit with some friends that happened to get the attention of a New York Times theater critic. In our conversation, Charles talks about some of the figures who inspired him, in particular the legendary gay theater pioneer Charles Ludlam, who helped create a new artistic movement in the 60s called Theater of the Ridiculous. Ludlam's career is a fascinating journey, and includes a strange and beautiful collaboration with Madeline Kahn. I'm currently working on a YouTube video that explores that collaboration, to be released next week. Keep an eye on my YouTube channel, at YouTube.com/mattbaume, and hit the bell on the subscribe button to get notified when that video comes out.And big thanks to everyone who makes the Sewers of Paris possible with a pledge of support on Patreon! Click “support the show on Patreon” to check out the rewards for backers. And I hope you'll join me for our next fun friendly livestream on April 25 at 11am Pacific. I've been trying something new with the livestreams: rather than just sitting there and talking, I play some super relaxing videogames while we all chat about what we've been up to. It's been a really soothing way to kick back and hang out and get away from the daily stress of, you know, everything. There's a link at the top of the Sewers of Paris twitter feed. And by the way, if you like nerdy queer podcasts you may enjoy my narrative comedy shows Queens of Adventure and Queens of Adventure Legends for an escape into a world of fantasy, with drag queens playing Dungeons & Dragons. Queens of Adventure features an ongoing fantasy story with a regular cast, and Queens of Adventure Legends features recordings of live shows and stand-alone stories. Queens of Adventure: Legends is perfect for new listeners, with adventures sized for one or two sittings and introductions at the start of each episode. It can be easy in this day and age to accept your life's purpose to be what you were taught it should be. In other words, have you ever taken a moment to consider what you want your life's purpose to be? Maybe you want to help other life a freer, happier life. And maybe the best way to do that is to lead the people who work with you (or for you) in that direction. But what if you struggle to lead with a mentality that will truly benefit those around you and not just you? On today's episode, I talk to Joshua Ludlam, CEO of Exponential Evolution, about how he helps entrepreneurs and business owners develop their leaderships skills so that they can lead from a place of wholeness. Moments:7:30 - What does "success" mean?16:10 - Looking at "failures" in a different way23:24 - How do we bring personal self-awareness into our work?35:03 - Service mentality versus sales mentalityQuotes:"There's no meaning in life except what you give it.""Leadership, for me, is about #1 empowering myself, and then turning around and empowering others."Podcast production by ThePodcastEngineer.com.

Nichola - or Nic as her friends call her - has such a long list of credentials and accomplishments that I simply can't share them all here. But just a sampling of her education and experience demonstrates her expertise: Graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class Honours Degree in Sports & Exercise Science Graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a post-graduate diploma in Dietetics Holds a Master's Degree in Health Science Published author in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics Her blog has also been voted as the UK's best health blog in 2015! Clearly, we're in good company. In this conversation, Nic and I discuss a wide variety of topics important to runners: How can athletes running with diabetes fuel appropriately while managing their disease? Why is being "calorie-aware" important but fundamentally different than counting calories? Does the ketogenic ("keto") diet work for runners? Is coconut water a good source of hydration for runners? Do detoxes work? Should athletes like runners take multivitamins? Use these principles to focus on big-picture principles and thrive!

The people of SA have had decades of experience with the nuclear industry and are fed up that governments keep coming back with more poison promises. On Election Day, we talk to the Greens Spokesperson on Foreign policy, climate change and nuclear issues, Senator Scott Ludlam. Senator Ludlam's Speech:http://scott-ludlam.greensmps.org.au/content/speeches-parliament/disarming-lifeboat-australias-place-world
Its federal election time here in Australia and with less than 48 hours until voting begins. We were fortunate enough to have a chat with Western Australian Greens senator Scott Ludlum. The Greens have just announced a policy to not improve funding for game development in Australia, but broaden incentives for foreign companies making games in Aus based on feedback provided by the industry. With a half quota for senate seats, and polls sitting and nearly 50/50 smaller players like The Greens could have a big say in Australia's future. We’re also talking violent vs non-violent problem solving in games. It seems that more often than not developers are pointing us toward an armoury as opposed to a handshake or negotiation. We explore why this is. Can we find peaceful solutions to the problems in our games without pulling the trigger on sight? Lastly the team take a closer look at Twitch’s new “Cheering” initiative. This new tool provides an alternate option for viewers to support their favourite streamers, but some people have criticised the margins that Twitch is taking off the top when the transaction is made. The team try to wrap their heads around this new payment system. We asked developers from across Australia who make gaming a big part of what they do. Ep. 24 Alice Springs Convergence, Greens Radioactive Waste Dump legislation, Carben Offset watch and Green Jobs. Aired on 2ser October 9th This week's guest is Hannah Walters who reports-back on the convergence in Alice Springs against the NT Intervention. Greens Dump legislation With the ALP election promise to repeal the Commonwealth Radioactive Waste Management Act, you'd be forgiven for thinking that debate over a nuclear waste dump in the Northern Territory is no longer relevant. However nearly a year into the Rudd government's term, the act is still in place. Two weeks ago the Greens senator Scott Ludlam introduced a bill to repeal this act. The Third Degree’s James Hitchcock spoke with Senator Ludlam. Carbon Offset Watch You may ride a bicycle to work and have switched to GreenPower at home, without realising there are other ways you can reduce your carbon footprint. More than 50 carbon offset schemes exist, but how do you find what project is sustainbable for you. ‘Carbon Offset Watch’ is a website that ranks Australia’s carbon offset retailers and Anne von Fehrn spoke to one its founders, Dr Chris Riedy from the Institute for Sustainable Futures. Green Jobs Workers in the U.S. are swapping jobs in polluting industries for new ‘green-collar’ jobs in the emerging clean economy. And in Australia, several pilot programs have started which focus on youth in coal-affected communities like the Hunter Valley. This feature is produced by Jessica Minshall and Holly Creenaune. We speak to program co-ordinators, young workers and hear from researchers exploring the potential for green employment. Presenters: Libby King and Jessica Minshall
