Soly and TC talk all things Royal Melbourne and Australian Open as one of the best courses on earth took center stage this week with Cam Smith three putting on the 72nd hole handing Rasmus Neergaard-Peterson a one shot victory. Expect minimal birdies and bogeys discussion, we're here to celebrate RM, react to Rory's comments comparing it to Kingston Heath and have a fun hypothetical fifth major discussion. From there it's on to the Nedbank in South Africa and the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas where Kristoffer Reitan and Hideki won those respective events and some notable quotes from Wyndham, Jordan and Tiger. We close with some thoughts on the reaction to our midweek pod with JT and the aggregation around his comments on the green speeds at Bethpage plus some assorted news and notes. Let's welcome back to the Georgia Songbirds a local singer songwriter Jayna Jennings. Jayna was battling a sickness but that didn't stop us from having a good time. We talked about the Godfather, songwriting, her flying helicopters, weight-lifting, and more. We even listened to a few of her songs. So pull up a seat and listen in to our crazy antics and stories.
In this lively Ludo Botany special, we explore tree climbing as play, practice, and design. Lewis brings fresh research on branch collars, spacing, and load strength while Gemma brings lived experience on how different trees invite different kinds of movement. From laurel and rhododendron “nest” trees to coppice stools and swooping live-oak ramps, they unpack species, shapes, and access. The chat ranges across myths and heuristics, defender branches, orthotropic versus horizontal shoots, group dynamics in shared trees, how adult presence changes the climb, and why our bodies feel different in trees compared with ladders. It wraps with a community callout for your best natural loose parts for the next Ludo Botany episode.

Taunya discusses her work with Aspirational Wealth Management and her roles on major boards. We highlight local groups, their services, and their eligibility for Arizona state tax credits.
On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show podcast, I'm talking all about using December as a chance to take your habits for a “test drive” before the new year kicks in.I share why December, even with all its holiday buzz and end-of-year busy, is actually the perfect time to slow down a bit, get quiet, and start making plans for who you want to be in the year ahead - without any of the ol' stressful, ego-driven pressure. We all know what happens in what I like to call, “Jazzed-Up January”!
While the year has not been recently steering in the Falcons favor, losing their starting quarterback for the season, and falling short of expectations, however they remain dangerous team, especially when playing in their own house. Kevin Knight, from Falconholic, covers the Falcons, has been kind enough to join The Nest to give us his perspective on the Falcons and what to expect Sunday. Join me for this episode of Leaving the Nest as I discuss how to not only be successful but to thrive when working remotely! I highlight the importance of setting up a dedicated workspace at home with as few distractions as possible, a reliable internet connection, and clear boundaries with family, roommates, and pets, and I also stress the need for a consistent daily routine - including getting dressed and ready for the workday, taking breaks, and managing time effectively! Communication is so important when working remotely, and I recommend over-communicating with your team, being responsive, and making yourself available as employers may want to have impromptu video calls. However, I also caution against taking advantage of the remote setup, such as appearing unprofessional on video calls or trying to hide unproductive behavior. Listen in as I stress the importance of using the necessary tools and software properly to stay connected with your team and also highlight the need to be on time and engaged during video meetings, as it is easy for employers to notice if someone is distracted or not paying attention. Listeners are also strongly advised against procrastination because it can undermine trust and reliability, and I suggest taking on high-priority items first and maintaining a strong work ethic, even when working from home. Remote work arrangements can vary greatly between employers, so I recommend having an open dialogue with your manager/supervisor about their specific expectations and requirements. This episode provides what I hope is a comprehensive guide on how to thrive in a remote work environment, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, time management, communication, and a dedicated workspace to ensure long-term success! Key Takeaways: Remote work is a privilege, and early-career employees usually benefit from 6–12 months of in-office training before shifting to remote. Set yourself up before accepting a remote/hybrid job: reliable Wi-Fi, a designated low-distraction workspace, and so forth. Maintain professionalism at home by sticking to real work hours, following a routine, dressing for on-camera meetings, showing up on time, and staying engaged. Strong communication and responsiveness are so important! Employers expect visible productivity! Thanks again for listening to Leaving The Nest! To find your next job, visit us at ROCS Grad Staffing. This final episode about Milos Forman's brilliant and deeper-than-expected masterpiece adaptation of Ken Kesey's very 1960's novel explores the subtle emotional power of the film's editing and how it establishes certain critical scenes. Praise for the depth and intelligence of Nicholson's acting while also appreciating Brad Dourif and the late Will Sampson's performance as the Chief are also indulged.

Since the founding of America's first centralized modern intelligence agency during World War II, today's guest Anthony Vinci says that current agencies have undergone several revolutions in how espionage was done. But Vinci says we're in the midst of a fourth revolution, changing the rules of espionage for nations and non-state actors alike. In this episode of From the Crows' Nest, host Ken Miller is joined by Vinci, a former intelligence officer and author of “The Fourth Intelligence Revolution: The Future of Espionage and the Battle to Save America.” Vinci says new asymmetric approaches to espionage combined with emerging technology has democratized intelligence, putting civilians at risk and threatening to leave America's agencies at a disadvantage if they don't adapt. To learn more about today's topics or to stay updated on EMSO and EW developments, visit our homepage.

Black Friday isn't a day anymore. It's a month-long pressure cooker – and it's forcing retailers to rethink everything from promotions to product pages.Correction note: In the episode I mention a jumper with 7% wool – the actual composition was 8% wool. Why Black Friday has morphed into “Black Month” – and what that constant promo pressure does to margins, teams and customer expectationsHow John Lewis is investing £800m to turn “stuffy department store” into experiential destination, complete with VIP member lounges that feel more like British Airways than traditional retailThe power of personal styling: a live story from a first-ever styling session at Aubin, and why curated outfits create genuine “dopamine dressing” moments for time-poor professionalsWhat luxury players like Joseph really want from tech and AI: tools that free staff to serve customers, not replace themHow AI is fast becoming your second customer – from ChatGPT's personal shopping and gift guides to the need for product pages that go beyond specs and capture story, emotion and use-caseWhy the next generation won't “Google it”, they'll ChatGPT it – and what that means for search, content and retail strategyIf you work in retail, ecommerce, CX, merchandising or digital, you're already living these tensions: discount pressure, demand for experience, and the rise of AI-driven discovery. This episode gives you a sharp, 13‑minute snapshot of where those trends are heading – and how brands like John Lewis, Aubin, Joseph, Tumi and M&S are shaping the next chapter.

In this episode of From the Crows' Nest, Ken Miller is joined by Mike Alperi, Deputy Program Manager of PMS 408 Expeditionary Missions Program Office at the Naval Sea Systems Command, to talk about his involvement in NATO Subgroup One and its cross-country collaborative Thor's Hammer exercise — an initiative that allows systems from different nations to be tested side-by-side against cutting edge UAS and IED threats.Alperi says the annual four-week program has greatly expanded over the last decade, growing from five participating nations in 2015 to 14 countries last year. Crucially, he says the scope of Thor's Hammer has grown over the years, from just counter-ID and counter-UAS training to countering emerging small radio frequency threats. Alperi says the subgroup shares the information from these tests with participating countries around the world, making sure key allies have the best information available as EW technologies continue to rapidly evolve. To learn more about today's topics or to stay updated on EMSO and EW developments, visit our homepage.
In this short podcast, Bryan gives another history lesson and goes over the history of the thermostat. Before 1883, automatic temperature control simply did not exist; we shoveled fuel into the furnace and opened windows. If a room got too hot in a commercial building, the janitor would go downstairs to choke the draft damper; this person was responsible for manually controlling comfort. Warren S. Johnson, a Milwaukee-based college professor, sought to do something about his classroom's sweltering heat. He created a pneumatic thermostat that mounted to the wall, sensed temperature, and used air pressure and mechanical systems to control dampers. This invention grew in popularity, and he founded Johnson Controls. Compressed air ran entire HVAC networks by adjusting dampers and valves before electricity went mainstream. Engineers experimented with bi-metallic strips, which could open or close an electrical circuit based on temperature changes, which made thermostats smaller and cheaper. Honeywell came on the scene by hiring industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss, who invented the mercury thermostat: the T87 round thermostat. When the bimetal coil tilted, mercury rolled from one end to the other to complete or open the circuit. These thermostats had a heat anticipator, which kept them from overshooting the temperature. Unfortunately, when these thermostats were disposed of, the mercury polluted the environment and affected the central nervous system. The digital thermostat came on the scene to replace the mercury thermostat, which led to the development of the Nest smart thermostat. However, all this time, comfort has been associated with the number on the thermostat; smart comfort controls that learn our routines and monitor dew point, relative humidity, and IAQ are the next step to create true comfort and health. Nurse Ratched likes a rigged game, according to R.P. McMurphy. And it's true that the game he is playing—lawless and hedonistic, but also vital and free-spirited—is unwinnable on her sandlot. As their conflict develops, we seem to be asked to compare the therapeutic value of McMurphy's introduction of the Dionysian, to Ratched's attempt to enforce an ordered calm within the psychiatric ward over which she is absolute ruler. What happens when the Godzilla of superegos takes on a libidinal King Kong? Wes & Erin discuss the 1975 film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.”
