A versatile director of theatre, film & television with credits ranging from series director on Home Improvement, produced and directed Working, Soul Man, and dozens of other prime time programs, including episodes of Friends (The Pivot! episode), Caroline in the City, Suddenly Susan, American Pie, Jesse, The Single Guy, In The House, The Jeff Foxworthy Show, Sabrina, The Tick, and many more.  Andrew directed two productions for Shakespeare Festival L.A.: The Tempest and Julius Caeser, a world premiere opera for L.A. Opera On Gold Mountain and two short films: Brightness starring Eric Idle which was awarded the Gold Special Jury Prize for 2001 at the WorldFest in Houston and Solstice. His theatre credits include the world premiere of Sister Carrie, The Merry Wives of Windsor and Nilo Cruz's adaptation of A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings. Internationally, he has produced and directed noted original devised theatre works at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, including The Grind Show, Ithaca I'll Never See, The Wasteland Sisters, Brandy Alexander and Searchers. Mr. Tsao was a tenured associate professor of dramatic arts at the University of Washington School of Drama where he was part of the faculty for the MFA Professional Acting and Directing Programs and was head of the Bachelor of Arts program as well. Andrew is also the creator of the new storytelling series tendingthefirepod.com. 

Peter Brosius has served as the Artistic Director of Minneapolis's Children's Theatre Company since 1997, where he's directed the world premieres of Dr. Seuss's The Sneetches The Musical; The Last Firefly; Seedfolks; Animal Dance; and many others, all of which were commissioned and workshopped by Children's Theatre Company. Previously, Peter was the Artistic Director of the Honolulu Theatre for Youth and the Improvisational Theatre Project at the Mark Taper Forum.             During Peter's tenure at CTC he's produced more than 187 shows, brought to life more than 70 new works from commission to fully developed stage productions, served more than 5 million children and community members, founded innovative educational programming, and championed equity, diversity and inclusion efforts to eliminate barriers to participation for those underrepresented in theatre. Peter's passion has been at the core of CTC's mission to educate, challenge, and inspire young people and their communities through extraordinary theatre experiences.            Peter and the CTC have worked with more than 100 writers including: Cheryl West, Nilo Cruz, Naomi Iizuka, Larissa FastHorse, Itamar Moses, Jerome Hairston, Barry Kornhauser, Lloyd Suh, Will Power, Liz Duffy Adams, Carlos Murillo, Kia Corthron, Philip Dawkins, and Greg Banks.             A major new initiative, Generation Now, is a partnership between CTC and Penumbra, Latino Theatre Company, Mai Yi, and Native Voices at the Autry to commission and develop 16 new plays and musicals by Black, Indigenous, AAPI and Latinx writers for a multigenerational audience. These new works will have a life for years to come.             Peter also introduced preschool programming to CTC, commissioning original works and bringing in extraordinary preschool productions from across the globe. CTC has also become a major presenter of acclaimed international productions from Europe, Africa, and Asia. 

El Ultímo Sueño de Frida y Diego (2022) by local composer Gabriela Lena Frank is the first-ever San Francisco Opera production by a female composer, and the first ever in Spanish (libretto by Nilo Cruz).The opera tells the story of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera reliving their tumultuous love for 24 hours on El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) through their paintings, embracing the passion they shared and the pain they inflicted upon one other. Artists Kahlo and Rivera were and are icons of Mexican arts and culture, magic and realism. About Gloria: Gloria Garayua is an actress and an acting teacher. She is most recognized from Seasons 4, 5, and 6 on "Grey's Anatomy" as Intern Graciella, and Season 3 of "How To Get Away With Murder" as Detective Davis, "Blanca" in "Fun With Dick and Jane" with Jim Carrey, and such series as "Reckoning" on Netflix, and much more. Born in 1972 to a mother of Peruvian/Chinese ancestry and a father of Lithuanian/Jewish descent, Gabriela explores her multicultural American heritage through her compositions. In 2017, Gabriela founded the award-winning Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music, a non-profit training institution held on her two rural properties in Boonville, CA for emerging composers from a broad array of demographics and aesthetics. Civic outreach is an essential part of Gabriela's work.  She has volunteered extensively in hospitals and prisons, with her current focus on developing the music school program at Anderson Valley High School, a rural public school of modest means with a large Latino population in Boonville, CA.In the 2022-23 season, she will see the premiere of her first opera, El último sueño de Frida y Diego with Pulitzer playwright Nilo Cruz, co-commissioned by San Diego Opera and San Francisco Opera.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Gloria recently. Fun conversation and I miss seeing her. AND --- Gloria's background is amazing. She was born and raised in the Bronx and attended St. Nicholas Elementary School , and started her acting career by playing the Angel in her kindergarten school play, followed by a new play every year. In High School, she participated in school plays and choir performances, as well as being active in the drama, music, and ecology clubs. Gloria received her B.F.A. in Acting from Long Island University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. In college, Gloria's portrayal of Ariel in “The Tempest” earned her an Irene Ryan Nomination where she placed as the 1st National Alternate. After college, Gloria embarked on a national tour (“Great Scientists Throughout the Ages” by the National Theatre for the Performing Arts), and two regional tours “Halfway There” with the Periwinkle National Theatre Company, and various plays in repertoire with the George Street Playhouse Touring Company. Afterwards she settled back to NYC where she worked consistently in theatre doing both plays and musical theatre throughout the NY and NJ area, while constantly in acting and dance classes. In NYC, Gloria landed the role of “J” in NYC's Off-Off-Broadway hit “Mono” (Critic's Pick of the week by Time Out NY, Paper Magazine, and NY Magazine in 2004). In 2004, while still living in NYC, Gloria was cast in “Two Sisters and a Piano” by Nilo Cruz at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, CA. Having had great success in NYC, she relocated to California and immediately got an audition for Jim Carrey's “Fun With Dick and Jane”. Gloria landed the role of “Blanca”, Mr. Carrey's nanny. She then guest starred in NYPD Blue. Gloria continued acting in studio films including “Mother and Child”, starring Annette Bening, Jimmy Smitts, Kerry Washington, Naomi Watts, and Samuel L. Jackson, “Henry Poole Is Here”, directed by Mark Pellington and starring Luke Wilson, George Lopez, Cheryl Hines, and Adriana Barraza and “Fixing Paco,” which was- nominated for an IMAGEN Award for Best Webseries in 2013 and 2014and Gloria played the lead! We all have theater kid energy! Broadway News: Starting this season, Tony Awards voters must complete unconscious bias training in order to vote in any categories. The news, sent to voters last Friday, requires members to take a free, online training session led by inclusion strategist Vernā Myers. The course is meant to teach viewers how to identify unconscious or implicit bias in their own decision-making processes and how to correct it, according to the course description.  Producers Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey announced that a new musical stage adaptation of Black Orpheus, featuring a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz, original music by Grammy Award winner and Brazilian icon Sergio Mendes, and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Sergio Trujillo, is being readied for its world premiere production on Broadway during the 2022-2023 season. A developmental workshop and an out-of-town regional theatre run are being planned for 2022 before heading to Broadway in 2023. James Snyder, who has been playing the role of Harry Potter in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child since a new, shorter version of the production reopened on Broadway on November 12, 2021, has had his contract terminated. The termination follows a complaint from fellow cast member Diane Davis, who has since also left the production by her own accord, regarding his conduct. The Broadway revival of Ntozake Shange's for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf, directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown will begin performances on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Booth Theatre. The fully reimagined production will open on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.  Casting: Dennis Stowe steps into the role of Jafar in the Broadway production of Aladdin beginning this week at the New Amsterdam Theatre. He succeeds fellow original cast member Jonathan Freeman, who created the role on Broadway after voicing the part in the 1992 animated film. Freeman played his final performance on January 23. NaTasha Yvette Williams will succeed Dawnn Lewis as Zelma, Tina Turner's mother, in Broadway's Tina: The Tina Turner Musical beginning February 4. Lewis is scheduled to play her final performance on January 30. Williams was last seen on Broadway in Chicken and Biscuits and has been a long-time Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago. Mariló is based in Hamilton, Ontario, and is the 2018 recipient of the Hamilton Arts Award for Established Theatre Artist. She was the founding Artistic Director of Alameda Theatre Company, a company dedicated to developing the new work of Latinx Canadian playwrights, and is currently obtaining her Ph D. in Theatre & Performance Studies from York University. INTAR, or International Arts Relations Inc in New York City, is one of the United States’ longest running Latino theaters producing in English. Their Hispanic Playwrights in Residence Lab was founded by esteemed dramatist and teacher María Irene Fornés. Nilo Cruz, Migdalia Cruz, Cherrie Moraga, Caridad Svich, and Luis Alfaro were inspirations for Mariló as she ran Alameda Theatre Company. Mariló participated in the Fornés Playwriting Workshop in Chicago led by award-winning playwright and Fornés protégée Migdalia Cruz. She earned her Masters in Playwriting at Guelph University, and is currently earning her PhD at York University with a focus on race and theatre. During her 4 years with the company, she did 9 musicals, including: Little Women (Jo March); Les Miserables (Eponine); Sweeney Todd (Tobias); Into The Woods (The Witch); and her professional debut in The Dreams Of Anne Frank (Anne Frank). At the age of 17, she moved to New York City to continue training at The Atlantic Acting School. Composer Jimmy López, who earned his Ph.D. in music from UC Berkeley in 2012, speaks about Dreamers, an oratorio he was commissioned by Cal Performances to write that is informed by interviews held with undocumented students at UC Berkeley. The piece was written in collaboration with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz, who created the libretto. The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Jessica Pimentel of Orange is the New Black. Jessica Pimentel is best known for her role as Maria Ruiz on the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, which recently premiered Season 5. She has also been bumped up to series regular as of this season.   Fun fact: Before receiving the offer for the role of Maria Ruiz, Jessica was about to quit the industry and was planning to work for Microsoft. She is extremely knowledgeable in the world of tech! Pimentel has taken the performance route of most New York Natives, spending much of her early career performing on stage in the city. She was recently seen in the American Stage production of the Pulitzer Prize winning play Anna in the Tropics and Shakespeare Theater's production of A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings adapted by Nilo Cruz. Additionally, she appeared in films Pride and Glory with Colin Farrell (directed by Gavin O'Connor) and Illegal Tender directed by Franc Reyes and produced by John Singleton.  As well as television series Person of Interest and Law and Order. The Brooklyn born and raised native is the daughter of Dominican immigrants and a practicing Buddhist. Her heritage also includes Taino Indian and African. Blessed with gorgeous looks and extreme talent on-screen, many would be surprised to learn the Latina goddess is also the front woman for the metal band, Alekhine's Gun, as well as a trained classical violinist.  

Daryl Roth is an American ten time Tony Award-winning producer who has produced over 90 productions on and off Broadway. She is the only producer of seven Pulitzer Prize-winning plays: Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park (Tony Award); Tracy Letts’ August: Osage County (Tony Award); Nilo Cruz’s Anna in the Tropics; David Auburn’s Proof (Tony Award); Margaret Edson’s Wit; Paula Vogel’s How I Learned to Drive; and Edward Albee’s Three Tall Women. Other Broadway shows she has produced include Nick & Nora (1991), Desire Under the Elms (2009), A Little Night Music (2009), Driving Miss Daisy (2010), Annie (revival, 2012), Kinky Boots (2013, Tony Award), This Is Our Youth (2014), and An Act of God (2015). Off-Broadway productions include Tea at Five (2003), Esoterica (2006), The Judy Show (2011), and The Velveteen Rabbit (2012). Carolina Hoyo's 1st year studying theater at Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in NYC, she quickly launched her TV career on MTV Hits, appearing on the pop culture talk show for 3 years. Carolina has appeared in various tv shows, national commercials, music videos and many feature films. Her latest roles include a scheming teenage Mexican immigrant in the film Foreign Land as well as a fun loving Cuban roller skating street walker in Pulitzer Prize winner Nilo Cruz play Hortensia & the Museum of Dreams.  Carolina has also appeared as herself on TV reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels and in Pharrell Williams' video for Oscar Nominated song "Happy" from Despicable Me 2.  Carolina is also a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. As an actor, Carolina is often typecast as the musician and/or homeless tough girl, often featuring her own music and weathered clothing from her life on the road. Carolina's former band, Morgan Ave, appeared in the films 13 Going on 30 with Jennifer Garner and Shooting Livien with Dominic Monaghan. Another former band, Two Birds was on their very first outing at the Santa Monica Promenade when they were successfully scouted for a Motorola music campaign.
