The following season Kentucky advanced to another Elite Eight, Justus helped Kentucky to another Southeastern Conference regular-season title in 2020 and was a key part in what many tabbed as the best recruiting class in the country in 2020. Highlighted as one of the top young assistants in the country, The Athletic tabbed Justus one of the top 40 people in college basketball under 40 and ESPN named him one of the nation's top 40 coaches less than 40 years old in 2020. Note: This week's episode of PxP:Conversations, between PEI's Anurag Acharya and Ambassador Ranjit Rae, is a continuation of last week's episode. Please listen to the earlier episode if you haven't already. Ep. Co#006 The geopolitical landscape of South Asia continues to evolve, with India forced to concede its traditionally uncontested influence to other superpowers, namely, China and the United States. While the US is more strategically allied with India, increasing Chinese influence has directly challenged Indian hegemony in the region. Considering all of these moving pieces, there arises the question of what this geopolitical shift means for recipient countries like Nepal, which has continued to rely on aid provided by developed countries to expand its infrastructures and spur economic growth. In this episode, Anurag asks Ambassador Rae to share intricate details about his engagement with Nepal and its messy politics, from his ring-side view of the 12-point agreement signed between Nepal's political parties and the CPN-Maoist, to his challenging period in office as an Indian Ambassador to Nepal. The two then discuss Ambassador Rae's proposition, detailed in his recent book “Kathmandu Dilemma: Resetting India-Nepal Ties” on how the two countries can overcome the historic and recent tensions, and mutual suspicion, to reset bilateral ties that are grounded on new geopolitical realities. Ambassador Rae is a retired Indian diplomat. During his tenure of over 30 years in the Indian Foreign Service, he held various positions, including | the Ambassador of India to Vietnam and Hungary; the First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York, and the head of the Northern Division in the Ministry of External Affairs dealing with Nepal and Bhutan. From 2013 to 2017, Ambassador Rae served as the Indian Ambassador to Nepal. During these years, Nepal witnessed some historic events including the promulgation of the new constitution and the earthquake of 2015. This was also a tumultuous period in the Nepal-India relationship, which Ambassador Rae has discussed extensively in his book. ************************ Our theme music (Evening Session: The Hill) is courtesy of Rohit Shakya of Jindabaad.

Dr Sabaratnam Prathapan was born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. At the age of 19 he left for the UK and completed an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Brighton. He worked for four years as an engineer in the UK before relocating to Singapore where he took up a position lecturing at an institute of higher education. Around six months later, he received a telegram inviting him to attend an interview in Darwin. However, a combination of the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Major League Baseball's realignment of the minor leagues for 2021, resulted in the team changing to Double-A as affiliates of the Twins without having played a Triple-A game.Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wind Surge were scheduled to begin their inaugural season on the road playing against the Round Rock Express on April 8, 2020, and to play their first home game on April 14 against the Memphis Redbirds. Initially postponed due to the pandemic, the season was ultimately cancelled on June 30. That summer, owner Lou Schwechheimer also passed awayIn 2021, the team dropped to the Double-A classification without having played a Triple-A game due to Major League Baseball's realignment of the minor leagues after the 2020 season. Instead of being a Miami Marlins affiliate, the Wind Surge became affiliated with the Minnesota Twins. The Wind Surge went on to win the Northern Division title by finishing the 2021 season in first place with a 69–51 record. They qualified for the championship playoffs by possessing the league's best record. In the best-of-five series, they were defeated by the second-place Northwest Arkansas Naturals, 3–2. Wichita manager Ramon Borrego was selected as the league's Manager of the Year.Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Fresno State University, California, in 2008, Bob then began working for a casual luxury retailer. In 2013, Bob took an internship with the California League, Colorado Rockies affiliate, Modesto Nuts. In this position, he was responsible for many different responsibilities including developing of the Nuts' social media, marketing, and advertising platforms. In fall of 2016, Bob joined the then named New Orleans Zephyrs as the team embarked on a complete rebrand, transforming into the Baby Cakes. The Baby Cakes rebranding was hugely successful, resulting in over three-quarters of million dollars in merchandise revenue, in a little over one year. Following the 2017 season, Bob was promoted to assistant general manager. In this role, he was responsible for marketing; social media; and all game day responsibilities, employees, training, and the internship program. Thanks to his previous experience in the retail management and internet marketing industries, Bob was able to apply his versatile skills to many aspects of his baseball responsibilities.Bob moved once again from New Orleans to Wichita as he excitedly joined in the process to aid in the building of the Wichita Wind Surge brand. It was a busy sports week throughout the landscape so you know I got you covered as Episode #219 is ready to rumble with some fast paced, action packed sports talk. On deck: (5:08) I start off with some housekeeping to forewarn you about playing injured as I battle through the podcast with a very hoarse voice. (6:28) I recap the past week of the MLB playoffs as I get into the controversy of Game 3 with the ground rule double of the Red Sox-Rays. Can the Rays save their historic regular season and push the series to a decisive fifth game? The Astros took a 2-0 series lead, but the White Sox have made it interesting, amidst reports of a Sox pitcher claiming that there may be some sign stealing going on. Can the Astros close them out in their own park? In the National League, the Dodgers evened up their hotly contested series against their bitter rivals in San Francisco. Can the defending champs close out the 107 regular season win Giants? And will the Braves be able to upset the Brewers in a low scoring couple of games that led to a split in Milwaukee? I'll also discuss the exits of two managers in San Diego and my beloved Mets as they'll be in search mode for a new skipper. (24:38) The week (five) that was in the NFL was rather quiet despite a couple of exciting games. I'll get into the winners (Rams & Eagles) and losers (Chiefs & Raiders as I go in on both teams, including the controversy surrounding Raider coach, Jon Gruden's comments a decade ago) and everything else that went down (ahem, Jaguars coach, Urban Meyer), including a look into Week 6 (which looks to be more of a bore) of the schedule. (44:51) College football had a classic Red River Shootout (Oklahoma vs. Texas), but the Alabama Crimson Tide losing at Texas A&M was the top story of Saturday. What are their chances of making the college football playoff now that they've dropped to #5 in the nation? Plus, all of the other action as the top of the heap continues to flip flop as the drama builds in the sport. (55:52) The fall and winter sports will usher in over the next two weeks. Up first, is the NHL as I'll preview the top storylines (Lightning three-peat? Kraken's inaugural season, Maple Leafs rebound from playoff disappointment. CORRECTION: The Maple Leafs did not win the Eastern Conference last year. It was the Northern Division), go through the divisions and present a Stanley Cup Final prediction and winner, which may or may not surprise you! (1:09:17) I'll spend a minute or two on the damage control by the representation of Sixers guard, Ben Simmons as he's losing money by the second as he continues to not report to the team. Why this is going to be irreparable with the fans and the impact that it'll have if he stays in Philadelphia? (1:10:39) There was a heavyweight fight in boxing as the third fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder squaring off in Vegas turned out to be an absolute slugfest. Was it an instant classic? (1:13:02) To close out, my Hero and Zero of the Week. (1:15:39) I'll also have a programming note for next week's podcast that you won't want to miss. Time Running out – Save Moore StAt the beginning of June the British-based property company Hammerson lodged three planning applications for major developments on and around Moore Street. The applications will effectively destroy much of the 1916 Rising Heritage of the site. Some of the buildings in the terrace that runs for 10-25 Moore Street and where the last meeting of the 1916 leaders was held, and scores of those evacuated from the burning GPO took shelter, will be demolished under the Hammerson plan. The Aghadavoyle Train Ambush. One lesser known aspect of the visit to Ireland by George V occurred in South Armagh two days after the Belfast pomp and ceremony of the opening of the Parliament in Belfast City Hall. On the 24th June three trains carrying the trappings for the opening of the Parliament, as well as members of the 10th Royal Hussars Regiment, a cavalry unit which had acted as the personal bodyguard to the British King, were heading south to the Curragh British military camp in County Kildare. Volunteers from the 4th Northern Division of the IRA, mostly from South Armagh, under the direction of Frank Aiken ambushed the last train which was carrying the Hussars and their horses in the townland of Achadh Aileóg, a few miles from the Aghadavoyle train station.

March 1, 2021 | The Hockey Betting Podcast EPISODE RECAP: Bad beats will always be a part of gambling, but this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast serves as a forewarning of NHL handicapping pitfalls before they can strike listeners. Calgary's road-trip blues led to a sho'nuff 5-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday, and Brian's cold shower on the Florida Panthers wasn't all wet as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Cats in OT. Betting big bucks on Buffalo is still bananas, and Brian and Cam's criticism of the Sabres was underscored by a 3-2 loss to the New York Rangers on Tuesday. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia went over the Las Vegas total in a 5-2 Penguins win, further confirming the guys’ handicap of the fragile Flyers' chances against NHL big-shots. The "tired" Hurricanes beat Nashville in a follow-up win and Minnesota was unexpectedly dismissed 5-1 by Vegas, but Brian's call on Montreal's latest game couldn't have been more accurate, as the Canadians took out a winter's worth of frustration on the visiting Sens with a 3-1 victory. Diva Tech Talk interviewed Kimberly Kaminski, Vice President of Global Marketing for rapidly-growing TMaxSoft, a 20-year old worldwide software innovator focused on infrastructure and data modernization to support digital business. Kim’s rich technology marketing career spans both Fortune 500 companies and emergent technology innovators. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, TMaxSoft (www.tmaxsoft.com) offers enterprise solutions to empower and modernize IT infrastructures, and dynamically drive competitive advantage. Kim graduated Northern Illinois University in journalism with an emphasis on advertising. She began her journey, as a writer/producer for a post-operative medical products manufacturer. “The job was perfect for me because it allowed me to pursue my love of science, while also perfecting the craft of writing and learning marketing.” Having “cut her teeth” in marketing, Kim then moved into advertising for several years including a stint in the tech practice for J. Walter Thompson (https://www.jwt.com/). Then she went to Texas Instruments (www.ti.com) as marketing communications manager. “It was at TI where my marketing career took off,” Kim said. She was then recruited for Novadigm (later acquired by Hewlett Packard: www.hp.com ) and “I have been in the software industry ever since!” From Novadigm, Kim moved to CA Technologies (www.ca.com), the 5th largest enterprise software company in the world. “It was an exciting time to join CA, who was trying to move from being a very technical company to being a customer-facing, market-driven company.” Kim spent 11 years at CA, evolving into progressively greater leadership roles, and eventually became Vice President of Field Marketing within CA’s Northern Division sales organization. Then she went to Avocent (acquired by Emerson Electric - http://www.emerson.com/en-us ) in Huntsville, Alabama, as Director of Global Field Marketing. After that, she became Vice President, Marketing for privately-held Vision Solutions for 2 years (https://www.visionsolutions.com/) leading their global marketing team. Subsequently, Kim worked for Infogix (http://www.infogix.com/) in global marketing leadership for 2 years, before moving to her current role at TMaxSoft. Kim is having fun in her current job. “My personal mission is to grow the marketing discipline, grow the team” at TMaxSoft, she said. “We’re working to create, within the company, a culture of customer-focused marketing.” To achieve her success, Kim believes three key personal characteristics are essential: patience, tenacity, and a sense of humor. She stressed “it takes a lot of patience, diplomacy, tact, and tenacity to go around and through roadblocks that inevitably always pop up in business. When you’re leading a team, it’s the leader’s responsibility to help the team navigate those roadblocks, to make their jobs fun and easy. “ For Kim, being a woman in tech has affected her “in both positive and not-so-positive ways.” She shared a story from her early career where a male manager felt that women should be exclusively at home, raising kids. “Instead of reacting negatively, I decided to just do a great job, and prove him wrong. And I ended up becoming one of his most trusted employees!” Kim is thrilled she has had the chance to mentor younger women. “This has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career,” she said. To her, “it’s important for every woman not to measure themselves against another woman. You must find what works for you. That can take many different forms throughout your career.” Kim’s three key pieces of advice, especially for tech marketing leaders are: Stay humble and be willing to learn from everyone. Continue to study hard. “Learn how to talk the language of development,” and additionally “speak the language of business.” Remember that “marketing has the responsibility to be the headlights of the business; really going out there, shining the light on the markets and the customers.” One precept Kim tries to live by is “everything in moderation.” She advises to keep things simple. Along the way, Kim worked with a coach at the Master of Business Leadership Program (http://www.masterofbusinessleadership.com/), which focuses on helping leaders find their unique value and capitalize on that. “That was pivotal for me to realize that no one was standing in my way, except for me.” One of Kim’s favorite current quotes is “You are a lot more powerful than that which scares you.” Finally, for Kim, “my faith is my anchor in my work, and in my life. We are called to love one another, and this applies to all facets of my life, including working relationships.” To sum it up, Kim says: “I approach everything with a spirit of kindness, loving what I do, and loving the people I am with.” For the full blog write up, make sure to check us out on online at www.divatechtalk.com, on Twitter @divatechtalks, and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/divatechtalk.
