Sega Saturn byla totiž hned v následujícím roce připravena k uvedení, a kvůli tomu vývojáři ani hráči neměli o 32X velký zájem. Přestože měla dva 32bitové procesory a vykreslovala 3D grafiku, trpěla slabou knihovnou her a nízkým zájmem veřejnosti. Sega musela konzoli rychle zlevnit a nakonec ji doprodala s výraznou slevou.

If you thought the Sega CD was an odd piece of hardware just wait till we break down the Sega 32X. Sega had an interesting decade of internal strife between the American and Japanese offices; with decisions that looking back now...perhaps not the wisest business moves. AJ, Mike, and Chris are ready to check out the future at Innoventions. This unique ”World's Fair” style pavilion at Epcot held the promise of showcasing the latest technology, products, and yes, video games before consumers would ever get their hands on them. Smart homes, super computers, and the Sega 32X dominated these complex corridors until corporate interest waned and consumer technology moved to quickly to keep the area up to date. We don't do video game podcasts anymore. To prove we don't we played and ranked every game for the 32X. Do you love Hornk? What's the back of your box say? Is the grass actually greener on the other console? The Six Button Samurai and @GameAgentET (OGiH) slice and dice through a hurricane of news, from big Nintendo announcements, to the joy of being able to once again buy a GPU at something resembling market value, and the irritatingly-muddled Sega DLC plan for Sonic Origins. Plus, Eddy delights at the wickedly remade Pocky N' Rocky Reshrined, JJJ marvels at an unstoppable Ukrainian MiSTer developer who dropped a Sega 32X core by surprise, and our cross-Pacific pals discuss the one piece of retro gear they wish existed. The Sega Genesis released in 1989, but it was not until Sonic the Hedgehog would release in June of 1991 that Sega would really begin to gain market share against Nintendo. The release of Sonic as well as an aggressive ad campaign, would lead to Sega bringing serious competition to Nintendo for the first time. Sega followed up the Genesis with creating the Sega CD which brought a new level of audio as well as improved visuals to the system. Unfortunately, Sega released the 32X shortly before the Saturn would release and would essentially mark the beginning of Sega retreating from console manufacturing. We discuss all of that and a whole lot more on this episode of the Nerdthusiast Gaming Podcast! Knuckles' Chaotix is the only game that could possibly embody the sheer awkwardness of the Sega 32X. It stars Knuckles and his shitty friends as they attempt to stop Dr. Robotnik from doing something I guess. The problem is, Knuckles is bound to his co-op partner by a stretchy energy band, which makes doing "Sonic" stuff impossible. But they still expect you to do Sonic stuff.

I mean, the thing only sold 800,000 units but damn was there a lot to enjoy on it. The Genesis/Mega Drive peripheral brought 32-bit power (OK that's debatable) to your home for cheaper than a Saturn. But why? Thanks to a mystery source (listen to the pod to find out who) Adrian now has the hallowed contraption. But what does he make of it and his initial batch of games? Ohhhhhhh here goes! The “Road to 1 Million”; had 950k at the beginning of the year after GTASC 2015 (Great TA Score Challenge) 2pm start of the stream, with Kinect game Just Dance 2016 - good achievement name, “Complete your Journey” Epic boss battle in Pier Solar, harder because he forgot the controls :) Bouncing between 23 games over the course of the stream. End of stream - playing Ori, 75g needed. At least that was the plan - but 40g short on re-checking gamerscore… 25g short after all popped in Ori. Ended up with Alien: Isolation for final 25G. Stats on TA were over 1 million GS - the missing 65g was there; but not registering increase in GS on Xbox (I had this problem with my 100k - J) RedmptionDenied extremely disappointed with technical issues in the stream. With the 1 million the plan was to play difficult games, survival horror is his favourite genre. Lots of positive feedback from viewers and fans. 5th person overall, 2nd in US to hit 1 million gamerscore. Gamertag? Bonus Level in DOOM (most played game).
