Actor and singer-songwriter Alicia Witt has been acting since the age of 7, when she made her film debut in David Lynch's sci-fi classic Dune. She will next be seen starring opposite Nicholas Cage in the thriller Longlegs, set for a 2024 worldwide theatrical release. She also just appeared on Fox's The Masked Singer as Dandelion, winning her first episode with her rendition of Over The Rainbow. Recent sightings include psychological drama Fuzzy Head (2023); I Care A Lot (2021) on Netflix, Lifetime Network's The Disappearance of Cari Farver (2022) and as Zelda on the final season of Orange Is The New Black. Additionally, her films include Two Weeks' Notice, Last Holiday, The Upside of Anger, Mr. Holland's Opus, Urban Legend, Four Rooms, 88 Minutes, Vanilla Sky, and Fun, for which she was awarded the Special Jury Recognition Award from the Sundance Film Festival, and an Independent Spirit Award nomination.Alicia is also a familiar face to Christmas audiences for her 10 holiday movies, many of which have featured her original music and continue to air every year.Alicia received rave reviews for her role as Paula in Season 6 of AMC's critically acclaimed series The Walking Dead. Witt also appeared during Season 4 of ABC's 'Nashville' as country star Autumn Chase and in Season 3 of David Lynch's Twin Peaks on Showtime, reprising her role from the original as Gerstein Hayward. As the Awakened Woman Self Care podcast enters season 8, it seemed fitting to have a guest join me to sing us into the next season of our becoming.  It was a joy to welcome singer-songwriter Sydney Jones to share her genre of music, which she calls, “rhythm and sunshine.” Sydney applies her life experience and connectedness with nature, our limitlessness, and the importance of staying in the present moment during this time of conscious awakening. Her positive, life affirming lyrics lift and open the heart of listeners.  We talked about her latest single and how our own creative expression can be a catalyst which opens the hearts of others, allowing them to connect with their own pure note of love. She writes both the music and lyrics to her songs, and invites listeners to interpret her songs through their own inner light in whatever way opens them up to the expression of their purest essence. Each element, word, and rhythm in Sydney's songs echo her connection to, as she puts it, her “heightened sensory awareness” of the natural world around her. She explains, “it's not just like I'm appreciating the Sun, I'm really feeling those light codes. I'm really feeling the power of the Sun right now. It's a whole experience of presence.” Sydney shared that the resonance of actually singing feels like the best medium through which her unique expression could come through. Writing the lyrics, the melodies and creating cover art for her work is the way she allows it to blossom through her, always spreading love through her self empowering messages and spiritually uplifting content. The follow-up, Little Rock, featured songs co-written with Ray Wylie Hubbard and Guy Clark, and became the first self-released album to top the Americana chart. Moving to Lost Highway Records for his third album, Hayes won Song of the Year for “She Left Me for Jesus” at the Americana Music Awards. Soon after, he was honored with the Americana Music Association's Emerging Artist of the Year recognition. As he continued to release new music, other artists began recording Hayes's songs, including Kenny Chesney, Brothers Osborne, and Lee Ann Womack, whose recording of “Chances Are” earned Hayes a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song. To date, he has released nine studio albums, two of which—Lovers and Leavers and What It Is, hit the top 10 on Billboard's folk album charts. His most recent album, We're Only Human, was released this summer.

One Riot Records is issuing a vinyl edition of that collection, Time And Patience: Tambourine Kitchen Recordings, plus a new 20th anniversary vinyl pressing of Tambourine. Tift zooms in from her home in Raleigh, North Carolina (home of RSD's own Carrie Colliton), to tell us all about it. This SPECIAL EPISODE is a tribute to RICK DAVIES, who died this past week at age 81. Rick was the founder of, and one of the two lead singer-songwriters of, Supertramp, one of the greatest bands of the rock era. In 1979 the band hit their zenith with the album “Breakfast In America”, which sold over 20 million records.Rick played keyboards and wrote several of the band's greatest hits. His songs had a blusier, edgier sound to them than those of Roger Hodgson, the other lead songwriter, who wrote more pop oriented songs which he sang in his high tenor voice. Together, however, these two guys provided the yin and yang of Supertramp which defined the band and made them a success.Rick's first band, called Rick's Blues, included Gilbert O'Sullivan on the drums. In August 1969 he placed an ad in Melody Maker seeking to form a new band, and Roger Hodgson auditioned and joined. Supertramp's first successful album was 1974's “Crime Of The Century”. It contained “Bloody Well Right”, Rick's first hit.  The band's breakthrough album was “Breakfast In America”, which contained another Davies hit, “Goodbye Stranger”. Like most rock bands, however, creative differences and jealousies eventually split up Supertramp. When I first came across my guest on social media, I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. His interactions with the animals wasn't only unique and intriguing, but I found a sense of calm come over me. Plume was lucky enough to have been surrounded by women all of his life. These same women are a big part of how and why he's on this journey now.  I'm so happy we were able to have a conversation, not only about his new bond with his animal audience, but he's also lending a different perspective on life and what's important. My guest's videos have a very calming effect on his audience. Yet, in seeing how the animals interact with Plume brings a smile to my face and a more human perspective to the magic of the beautiful four and two legged creatures he interacts with.Currently, Valerie, Plume's mother, is part of his production crew, as his camera-woman. She has always been very supportive of his work.His maternal grandmother, Paule and her three sisters helped raise Plume since a child.  Paule is still very present in his life today. She plays the piano and has a wonderful sense of humor and attitude about life. And we also had an opportunity to hear about Elsa, Plume's girlfriend, who Plume says is a constant source of support and love. As a creative, Plume says "it can be hard to believe in yourself and in what you're doing," and Elsa has always been there to encourage him.Growing up in France, Plume was introduced to cows nearby to his grandmother's home. HIs grandmother's sister, who knew the cows the best, reassured him at a young age, that they were friendly, kind and curious.One of the more rare and distinct animals that Plume has encountered is an okapi. An okapi is not a true "mix" of animals but is the only living relative of the giraffe.I thoroughly enjoyed meeting my guest and sharing his story of bountiful love and support from the many important women in his life. Eric Andersen is a legendary Troubadour and singer-songwriter who first came to prominence during the 1960s folk music scene in Greenwich Village and Boston. He was a central figure in that era which included Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs and Richard Fariña.Some of his famous early compositions were “Thirsty Boots,” “Violets of Dawn,” and “Close The Door Lightly When You Go”. These songs were picked up by artists like Judy Collins, the Brothers Four, the Kingston Trio, the Blues Project, Sandy Denny & Fairport Convention, and Johnny Cash.  Eric's songs have been covered by many artists, including Bob Dylan, Ricky Nelson, Janis Ian, Peter Paul and Mary, the Grateful Dead and Mary Chapin Carpenter. He is the subject of an award-winning 2019 documentary, The Songpoet. It is a collection of songs that I wrote over the years but never released. A few of them ended up on live albums but most of them were never recorded before. The songs do share a theme. It is about love in all its forms, including love for life itself and love for the planet.  The beautiful, difficult and dark aspects of love. I'm very proud of it. In the eleven years it took to make this album I didn't sit still. I did bring out three literary albums, around the works of Byron, Camus and Böll. They were recorded in Germany. We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2017 conversation with Vince Gill. ABOUT VINCE GILLMulti-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Vince Gill launched his solo career in the mid-1980s, hitting the Top 10 on Billboard's country singles chart a remarkable 25 times. All but one of those hits was written or co-written by Gill, and a dozen of his compositions have been nominated for either CMA Song of the Year, ACM Song of the Year, or the Best Country Song Grammy. These include “When I Call Your Name,” “Look At Us,” “Pocket Full of Gold,” “When Love Finds You,” “High Lonesome Sound,” “If You Have Forever in Mind,” “Feels Like Love,” and “Threaten Me With Heaven.” “Go Rest High on That Mountain” won both the CMA Song of the Year and the Best Country Song Grammy, while “I Still Believe in You” won the Best Country Song Grammy, as well as both the CMA and the ACM's Song of the Year awards. Though he's won four in total, Vince is the only songwriter to ever win three consecutive Song of the Year awards from the CMA. He has won more Grammy awards, with over 20 trophies, than any male country performer in history. These include two Best Country Song wins, as well as a 2017 win for Best American Roots Song for “Kid Sister,” which was recorded by Gill's band, The Time Jumpers. He has won eight ACM awards and 18 CMA awards, including Vocalist of the Year five years in a row and Entertainer of the Year two years in a row. Other highlights from his long list of hit singles include the #1 hits “Don't Let Our Love Start Slippin' Away,” “One More Last Chance,” and “Tryin' to Get Over You.” In addition to writing his own material, Vince's songs have been recorded by Loretta Lynn, Bob Seger, John Denver, Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Michael McDonald, LeAnn Rimes, and Alabama, who topped the country charts with his “Here We Are.” Vince was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2014, he was named a BMI Icon, one of only twelve country writers ever honored with the prestigious award.
