The New 52 era of DC Comics was a particularly bad time for comics, but it did give us one diamond: Wonder Woman, by Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, Matthew Wilson, Jared K. Fletcher, and several other artists, including Tony Akins and Goran Sudžuka! This self-contained run is an evergreen Wonder Woman story. It's a series that not only provides a compelling plot and fascinating characters with depth, but also stands as a concise summation of what the concept of Wonder Woman is all about, and what makes Diana of Themyscira special. In this episode, we highlight this run as part of the buildup to our DC Top 25! Tune in and find out why we think so highly of this Wonder Woman run. Thanks again to Corey J. (chat starts at 2:07) Myke Cole has always proven himself to be driven. Born and raised in New York, he found himself drawn to the need to fight. This need took him through tours in Iraq, service in the Coast Guard, working in NY law enforcement and writing a vast array of books. The prolific writer (of multiple genres) currently works in cyber-security. Myke talks to Shah Emami about living in Brooklyn during the coronavirus epidemic, depression, the need to take action and not wanting to stay put. They dive into Myke's military, coast guard and law enforcement service background and Captain America and The Punisher's relationship to service. Shah talks about his Iranian-American heritage in response to Myke's desire to travel to Iran and learn about Persian culture. Naturally, they talk about their favorite comics but also Myke's upcoming Vault Comics series HUNDRED WOLVES (with Tony Akins, Vladimir Popov and Jim Campbell) about the Siege of Vienna. On this episode of Word Balloon, legendary artist Neal Adams is back to discuss many issues of the current comic book scene. From finding a neutral way to help Gary Friedrich's financial situation, without taking sides in the Disney-Friedrich-Ghost Rider lawsuit, to DC and Marvel's new place in their corporate parents business.Neal talks about the recent Comic Book films based on DC Marvel and Dark Horse properties, and asks why wasn't John Stewart in the Green Lantern movie, given his prominent place on TV's Justice League series, which had a built in audience of millions? You'll also hear a good dose of comic book history.
