Recorded on-stage at Øredev 2024, Fredrik talks to IT security expert David Jacoby about his way into IT security. What was it like to get interested in computer security early on, and to try start working with it before there really was an awareness of even the need for more security information? And when did the switch happen from annoying but harmless viruses and malware to the modern information stealing and blackmailing? Finally, a horror movie tip. Hey college kids! Today we're doing Eli Craig's 2010 horror comedy, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. T&DvE tells the story of a couple of simple and loveable hillbillies who are off on a vacation to fix their new shitty little shack on the lake. But when they save a college kid from drowning, their good intentions are confused, and they become the target of a misdirected rescue plot with horrible, and hilarious results. This flick is a cult classic for Halloween. It made its money back at the box office (barely), but did not garner big headlines despite overall good reviews and the love of its adoring fanbase. But does it hold up? Listen in as Jon, Colin, and Brent debate the best treatment for hornet stings and what constitutes overacting as we try to determine if this one defeats evil or becomes it.

If you love, self-mocking films like Tucker & Dale, then this is something that you will love. It's a love letter to cheesy horror films from the 1980's with an interesting twist. It's harp, wickedly funny, and pays homage to the slasher films. Max Cartwright waits while her actress mother, Amanda, auditions for a film. When she returns, Amanda complains that she'll only be known as scream queen Nancy in the 1986 slasher film Camp Bloodbath, a cult classic. On the way home, the two get into a car accident and Amanda is killed. Three years later, on the anniversary of her mother's death, Max is studying with her friends Gertie and Chris. Gertie's stepbrother Duncan, a horror film fanatic, shows up and persuades Max to attend a special double-feature showing of Camp Bloodbath and its sequel. At the screening, Max is not too thrilled that Chris' possessive ex-girlfriend – and her former best friend – Vicki is there as well. During the film, the theater is accidentally set ablaze. In order to get the group to safety, Max uses a machete to cut a hole in the screen and they all step through. Overall this a topic that raises consciousness when dealing with the kids of today, great open platform discussions to be had when it comes to the forefront on growing up in today and yesterdays world. This convo will circle back in more in depth on future podcasts. There's few tropes as prominent in the horror genre as a cabin vacation with friends gone wrong. But what's extra special about these movies is how they take this played our story line and flip in on it's head in unique ways. Cabin in the Woods is a one-of-a-kind government conspiracy meets creepy cabin horror wrapped in a humor blanket. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is the funniest misunderstanding you could ever hope for in a horror movie (plus an adorable story of friendship). Mollie recommends at least one of these, Lindsay recommends both. You can be the tie breaker.

It's episode 198...and there's a girl in the garden. Shaun of the Dead (2004) tells the story of down-on-his-luck Shaun. Dumped by his girlfriend Liz, stuck in a dead-end job and nursing a testy relationship with his step-father - he's desperate to turn his life around. Can he Go Round Mum's, Get Liz Back, and Sort (his) Life Out? Oh, and, there's a zombie apocalypse happening all around him. We talk about the place that does all the fish, mull over the lack of options for smokers in public places in the modern world, chew over the best practice for bite wounds and share stories of misbehaving children being chased around gardens by adults wielding bits of wood. All of which leads to one important question: How would you survive? Whatever happens, one thing's for sure: the front door is open...AGAIN. Good day everyone and welcome to yet another Reel Film Nerds podcast.  Yep we aren’t going away that easy!  Today Matt and Mike continue to gear up for their first Harvest Horror Fest with a Legacy cast of Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.  The guys try to tell some jokes, but they fail miserably.  Staying on topic alludes your hosts too.  Matt is probably the biggest problem when it comes to staying on topic, sorry everyone.  Discussion includes Avengers 4, side boob, PBR, the new Captain Marvel trailer, Fargo, woodchippers, and hillbilly hog!  What a fun and odd conversation.    Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is a fun interesting take on the horror genre or comedy genre?  Let’s just go with both.  The writing is excellent, the acting is great, and the makeup/special effects are spot on.  Mike gives the film a little above average score of 3.5 out of 5 Reels.  Matt who is much better at rating movies (according to him) and not nearly as harsh as Mike gives it 4 out of 5 Reels. Episode 50 is next!  Can you believe it, we can’t.  We thought for sure Mike would get mad at Matt and quit after only a few episodes, but he didn’t!  Thanks, Mysterious Mike!  What do the guys have in store, we have no idea, probably just more random off topic talk and maybe a movie review?  Download next Tuesday’s episode to find out.  Thanks again for listening and we will see you next week. Thank you for liking, subscribing, rating, reviewing, and telling your friends about our podcast.  You are slowly helping us take over the world like Pinky and the Brain! Welcome boys and girls to yet another podcast!!!  Today Mike and Matt talk about a giant mess of a movie, The Predator directed by Shane Black.  The guys stay fairly on topic for this one and basically rip this film apart.  This movie is just flat out all over the place.  Matt talks a bit about the many reshoots and controversies surrounding this movie while Mike just listens.  He was really tired so we will let it slide this time.  The guys also discuss the original Predator from 1987 and how much better it is, (if you want to hear more go back and listen to our Legacy cast on it Episode #21) sleep or lack of, the Android operating system, the Terminator, and lastly K2SO from Rogue One. Matt and Mike had a ton of issues with this film but it was still fun.  If you are not a diehard Predator fan like they are wait until this one comes out on Netflix or Redbox.  It is just all over the place with tons of plot holes and parts of the film that are just flat out strange.  We have that rare occurrence when the guys agree on a rating both Mike and Matt give The Predator 2.5 out of 5 Reels. Like always thank you listening and spreading the word about our podcast to help us grow!  Coming up on Thursday the guys review a fun horror film? comedy? both?  Who knows we will all find out when the guys discuss and review Tucker & Dale vs Evil.  Talk at you then! Thank you for liking, subscribing, rating, reviewing, and telling your friends about our podcast.  You are slowly helping us take over the world like Pinky and the Brain! In my third inexplicably 4K/UHD podcast, I cover a lot of ground, some of it even interesting. Here are just a few of the topics.   I invite you to celebrate S'mores Day and offer some wild and tasty recipes for what can do to get the most out of it.   A quick film recommendation for Tucker & Dale vs. Evil with Alan Tudyk and the ever lovely Katrina Bowden.   I explain how you can sponsor my podcast for just one dollar, while putting me mere months from being a millionaire. Seriously. If you see this right after it launches, you can get in on this.   I tell a true story about being marooned on what we thought was a deserted island off the coast of Thailand.   I interview Jordan Andersen of www.NeighborlyApp.com.   I walk you through, step by step, how luck can be engineered and work for you every damn time.   The topic of ever-crashing Fortune 500 computers is discusses.   I show you the creepiest commercial ever shown online. As of upload, the original only has a few hundred views, so you're getting a real exclusive here, folks.   Follow me around the web: www.itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/4k-glossy-news-review-comedy/id1022720483 www.Facebook.com/4KPodcast Twitter - @4KPodcast www.Reddit.com/r/GlossyPodcast www.YouTube.com/glossynews www.GlossyNews.com/podcast   Segment bumpers by Greg the Hero. You are, once again – unless this is your first time – listening to Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. (Or the Comedy Earfruit Earfruit. Ever since my chat with Superego's Matt Gourley, I’ve become obsessed with renaming the generic podcast with something. What do you think of earfruit?) This is Succotash Epi99! The penultimate episode of Season One. That’s right. Episode 100 will be the final show for our first season. But that’s next time. THIS time we have a helluva show for you with not one but TWO interviews that I did when I was at the 3rd Annual LA Podcast Festival at the end of September. You’ll hear my chat with Todd Glass of the Todd Glass Show and with Matt Knudsen from the Grabbing Lunch podcast. (Or earfruit.) I’ll also be playing clips from both of their podcasts PLUS clips from Picking Favorites, a new podcast on the new Wolfpop Network, the Angry Old Man podcast, Denzel Washington is The Greatest Actor of All Time PERIOD, and Today We Learned teaches us all a little something about the dumbest laws in the United States. We also have a DOUBLE dose of our Burst O’ Durst segment with comedian Will Durst, a classic Henderson’s Pants commercial, and a musical track from our Associate Producer Tyson Saner that is featured on Combat Radio’s First Christmas Album, which is a great way to help out friend-of-Succotash Ethan Dettenmeier’s Christmas Event for Homeless Children Benefit. You can find out order the album and find out more about the benefit by visiting OUR homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com, and click on the album cover on the right hand side. Wish Us A Happy 100TH Episode! If you’re a comedy podcaster or just a regular old listener, there’s still time to get us your “Happy 100th Episode Anniversary!” message for us to play on our one hundredth show. You can call one into the Succotash Hotline, at (818) 921-7212, or email us an MP3 or WAV file to marc@SuccotashShow.com. (Not to throw a challenge out there, but in this episode I'm playing a great 100th episode message in from the guys over at Illusionoid and I’ve got to say that I really appreciate the extra effort that went into it. PodBay's Top 10 Comedy Podcasts It’s been TWO months since Stitcher has updated their Top 100 Comedy Podcast List. Not sure what’s going on over there. (Heck, given the nature of technology, maybe my browser is screwed up.) But I’m not able to track podcasts through Stitcher’s site these days so rather than NOT do our Top 10 Most Active Shows On Stitcher's Top 100 Comedy Podcast List, I hopped over to PodBay’s site to harvest their list of the most recent Top 10 Comedy Podcasts according to the live iTunes rankings. (PodBay, by the way, is a GREAT podcast app on iOS and Android, so be sure to check it out if you want a super duper podcast experience!) 1   With Special Guest Lauren Lapkus2   Psychobabble with Tyler Oakley3   Welcome to Nightvale4   WTF with Marc Maron5   The Joe Rogan Experieince6   The Nerdist7   The Adam Carolla Show8   How Did This Get Made?9   Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast10 Not Too Deep With Grace Helbig A Little Christmas Music Our own Tyson Saner wrote and performed an instrumental tune that he did for the First Combat Radio Christmas Album to help raise money for Ethan Dettenmeier’s 4th Annual Combat Radio Christmas Event for Homeless Children. You can donate to the Combat Radio Christmas Event at http://www.gofundme.com/ACombatRadioChristmas and get the album for a suitable donation OR go to the right-hand side of our homesite, http://SuccotashShow.com, and click on the Combat Radio Christmas Album. Tyson’s cut is entitled For Christmas and feature in during this episode both under our Tweetsack mentions and then in its entirety at the end of the show.  The Clips Denzel Washington is the Greatest Actor of All Time PERIODLast week on Splitsider.com and HuffPost Comedy I reviewed this new podcast, one of Wolfpop’s new shows, hosted by recent Succotash special guest W. Kamau Bell and Kevin Avery, a soon-to-be guest on this show. Both of these guys spent a lot of their formative funny years as San Francisco comedians, then Kamau got his own show, Totally Biased, for a while on FX and FXX. Kevin was head writer on that show and, when it got cancelled, he found a place on the writing staff on John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight on HBO. The two of them decided to put together a podcast about one of their favorite people, Denzel Washington, to let everyone know what a terrific actor they think he is. The Todd Glass ShowI was glad I got a chance to sit with Todd Glass at this year’s LA Podcast Festival. I know him a little bit from the LA comedy scene and he’s played in Northern California during the past couple of years and we got to hangout just before he started HIS podcast, the Todd Glass Show. Before I get to our chat, I wanted to play a little piece of a recent epi of his show, one featuring guest Patton Oswalt. Picking FavoritesIf you were a fan of NBC’s series Chuck, about a nerdy big box store employee who get a computer stuffed into his noggin, you know Zachary Levi, the star of the show. David Coleman was the propmaster on that show, kind of the Q of TV comedy spy show, if you will. Together, they started a business called The Nerd Machine and now they have this Wolfpop podcast, Picking Favorites, started with the help of a comedian who goes by the name Razzle Dangerously, who also host a show on the Nerdist network called Today We Learned, which we’ll be playing a clip from momentarily. Then they drafted Tyler Labine, a hilarious actor from shows like Reaper, The Sons of Tucson, and the movie Tucker & Dale vs Evil. Picking Favorites starts with three topics each episode and the hosts and guests go round-robin style, naming off their favorites of whatever the topic happens to be. In the second show, their guest was Adam Baldwin, another Chuck alumnus (and also one of the stars of Monster Makers, a movie I wrote for the Hallmark Channel.) Today We LearnedAssociate Producer Tyson Saner grabbed the previous clip and this next clip, which comes from the Today We Learned podcast, featuring Razzle Dangerously (as heard in the Picking Favorites clip), and Dan Casey. This Nerdist show says that the hosts bring you “the latest and greatest and sometimes weirdest facts and trivia the world has to offer.” In this clip, from their Epi62, the hosts and their guest Jacob Soboroff talk about dumb laws in the United States. Angry Old ManWe clipped The Angry Old Man podcast quite a while ago – Episode 53, I think – so it’s high time we hit him again. All I know about the ringmaster for this podcast is that he goes by the name Robert Q, and that he does all the voices on this thing. Tyson grabbed the cold opening from Angry Old Man Epi 90 so have a listen… Grabbing LunchI was first introduced to Matt Knudsen, host of the Grabbing Lunch podcast, at the most recent LA Podcast Festival when Christine Blackburn (of the Story Worthy podcast) dragged him into the Podcast Lab and told me, “You have GOT to interview Matt!” I really enjoyed our chat and I love the premise for his podcast. Simple. Filling. Grab two people who listeners may or may not have heard of before, sit ‘em down to lunch and turn the mics on. This clip is from his Epi52 – at one episode a week, that’s his one year anniversary. And his guests were actress Helen Slater from things like Supergirl and City Slickers, and her husband Rob Watzke, a Hollywood editor and improviser. Join us next time for Epi100, the last show of Season 1! Until next time, thanks for passing the Succotash! – Marc Hershon
